Hey, I’m starting meds on 14th March…counting down the days. This will be my second round, long protocol. How are you feeling?

Katie12444 · 01/02/2023 20:21

hey, good to meet you! I’m starting on Norethisterone in mid February as long as my period behaves and starts on time! And then hopefully the stims will start in March. I’m feeling quite nervous, talked through the protocol with a nurse yesterday and it feels like a lot. How are you doing?

Hopefulhedgehog1 · 01/02/2023 20:27

Is this your first round? I pick up my meds in a few weeks then start buserelin on 14th March. I’ve had a 5 month wait for this round so I’m ready to get going. I managed the injections etc fine in my last round so I’m more nervous for the result than the process itself. The waiting is awful isn’t it? X

Katie12444 · 01/02/2023 20:52

Yes it’s the first round. The waiting is so frustrating! And it’s all quite overwhelming at the moment. Hopefully I’ll calm down in a few weeks 😂 How are you feeling about your second round?

Hi @Katie12444 and @Hopefulhedgehog1
I am starting in March too 😊 My injections should start on 10th March. It’s my first round. I feel like it’s a long road ahead and that it feels a long way away, but I know time does go by quickly! My AMH is high so they have suggested a freeze all but got to see how it goes. It will be good to have others to talk to through all of this!

Hopefulhedgehog1 · 02/02/2023 08:37

Welcome @SummerS2 ! The waiting to get going is the worst part. Once you pick up your meds and start planning/doing injections it gives you something to focus on. Especially once you start on menopur the time goes quite fast I think. I really didn’t feel too bad on the meds the last time so hopefully that stays the same. Do you know if you are doing ivf or icsi?

SummerS2 · 02/02/2023 09:20

Thank you for your reply @Hopefulhedgehog1 It’s good to be able to talk to someone who’s been through it. My treatment plan says I will be on ovaleap and cetrotide.. I think it’s the short protocol and will be IVF. Sorry I am a little clueless to be honest as I haven’t yet had any appointments to fully discuss the treatment plan, got an appointment on 1st March 😊 Before I got my treatment plan I wasn’t really thinking too much into it, now it seems to be taking over my brain! How are you feeling about yours?

Katie12444 · 02/02/2023 11:09

@SummerS2 ah we will be super close on timings. I’m due to start beginning of March, short protocol IVF. It’s my first time and feeling a bit overwhelmed with the injections. We’re all in it together! The appointment to discuss the treatment plan is really helpful

Ah it’s good to hear from you @Katie12444 We will have to keep in touch along the journey! I’m not so worried about the injection part I think my main worry at the moment is how I’m going to respond and the side effects etc. Trying to keep my mind pre occupied this month 😊

Katie12444 · 02/02/2023 22:44

@SummerS2 yes definitely ❤️
Side effects definitely seem to vary from person to person. Are you planning to work as normal during treatment?

OP posts:
SummerS2 · 03/02/2023 07:34

Yes that’s true we shall see! I have some holiday left to take before April so I took two weeks off for the week of the egg collection and the week after. Just works better for me as have to go for regular scans and just thought I then don’t have to worry about work! How about you?

SummerS2 · 03/02/2023 07:34

@Katie12444 sorry keep forgetting to tag in my replies! Just sent a reply above 😊

Hopefulhedgehog1 · 03/02/2023 07:42

hi girls, my side effects were really not too bad. In the last week of down reg I had some headaches and the last week before egg collection I was a bit tender on my tummy but really not too bad. I worked right up to egg collection day ( I have an office based job so nothing physical) . You will definitely need a day off for egg collection. I took the day after off too but physically I would have been fine to go to work. You are best to have that day off because you will get the call from the clinic and I think it’s best to be at home for that. Looking back at my first round I probably wish I’d had a few days off running up to egg collection - my scans were a bit disappointing and I was a bit of an emotional wreck trying to go to work after those appointments. Have you both told work about your treatment and are they being supportive?

SummerS2 · 03/02/2023 11:46

@Hopefulhedgehog1 Hi 😊 Thats useful to know thank you. I feel like I’ve done the right thing with having the scan days off and the two weeks of full on treatment off. I’ve told my Manager and she’s been great. I work as a nurse looking after pregnant women and post birth so emotionally I just think it will be best for me to be off, but everyone’s jobs are different and not always able to get time off. I would have to work if I had no holiday to take but I managed to save it up ready for this! How’s your work been this time round?

Irisjj · 03/02/2023 20:49

Hi ladies,

Joining in on the ‘fun’. I just stared birth control today, planning to start stimulation beginning of March and egg retrieval for half March.

it’s been a journey, hopefully we have more luck with IVF but the waiting is difficult!! It feels like ages..

I have a sonohysterogram scheduled for monday- hopefully all is well so we can proceed with the schedule!

Luckily im working for home and my manager is aware of my process and very accommodating (I’ve had 3 losses in the last year :(

lets keep in touch, curious to read all the experiences. I just ordered all the meds and was like omg thats like a real washing list 😂

Greenlee · 04/02/2023 17:37

Hi everyone, please may I join you? I had my first FET in January (bfn) and am hopefully going to have my second in March. I am having a donor embryo due to being single and also elderly! 😄

Right now I am on the pill to get timings right again and hopefully I'll get my period in a week's time so I can start my estrogen. I really hope we get some great BFPs in the group, best of luck everyone xx

Katie12444 · 04/02/2023 18:48

@SummerS2 I think I’m going to work from home during treatment which hopefully should make things easier and then I think a day off for egg collection and possibly the day after too as from what I’ve heard from others, that might be needed!

@Hopefulhedgehog1 Thanks, that’s really helpful to know. I’ve told my line manager and one of my colleagues which was a bit of a relief tbh. I felt like I was pretending to be ok and everything was fine at work which can be exhausting!

Katie12444 · 04/02/2023 18:53

@Irisjj ah you’re a few weeks ahead of me. I’m hoping to start birth control around mid February - just waiting for my period to start. I totally get what you mean about the waiting and I'm not a patient person 😂

It will be good to keep in touch and share experiences. The meds list is insane! Is it a huge box?

OP posts:
Katie12444 · 04/02/2023 18:55

@Greenlee Of course! You’re very welcome ❤️ Wishing you lots of luck for next month and hope this group can support you. X

Good evening all!

May I join in? I'm based in France, frozen transfer in march so long as period appears.

Wishing you all luck on your journeys xx

Irisjj · 07/02/2023 00:31

@Katie12444 I didn’t receive the meds yet, will get them Friday!! But was just a lot of arranging to get them calling etc - im in the US and meds with insurance is just crazy!!

I had my sonohysterogram today- a bit crampy but my uterus looks perfectly fine so we are a step closer… now waiting for my bloodwork to come back and end of February an appointment to have an ultrasound - hopefully get the clear to go sign by then!

How are you all holding up? @Cookiecrush def keep us posted also curious to how that process goes!!

amoobaa · 07/02/2023 08:27

Hi all, hope it’s ok to join. And hope you are all feeling ok. I’m starting my third round soon… I’ve had my scans and bloods and about to have nurse consultation to set up the medication etc.

Our first round resulted in our son (he’s two this month) and the second round (FET end of October 22) resulted in a complicated miscarriage. I had to have emergency surgery and blood transfusions so had to wait for my iron levels to stabilise before going back into the clinic for this round.

We have to use ICSI and have only ever got one viable embryo per round. They freeze the embryo in order to get me as ready as they possibly can, with lining in best condition before transfer.

My main concern at this stage is getting a viable embryo. The last FET was exactly the same grade of embryo (BB) as the first one. So it’s really hard to predict how things will progress. Eve when the embryo looks perfect and has been genetically tested.

Sending so much hope and lots of hugs, it’s a rollercoaster of a ride x

nizo1245 · 08/02/2023 10:57

Hi all, hope you don't mind me joining.
I'm starting round 2 soon. Had a first round in November last year which failed.
We didn't seem to produce any good quality embryos so gambled on a 3 day transfer but it wasn't looking likely that it would work.

Hoping for better results this time but DH has antisperm antibodies which seem to be our main problem.

I have my pretreatment appointment on 24th feb and will start buserelin pretty soon after that.

Wishing everyone lots of luck!
