@Irisjj sounds like quite a strange sauna experience haha! Hope you still managed to enjoy it.
It's so nice to see you ladies moving on and getting dates to start treatment. Really hoping it all goes well.

We have no update. We're going (trying to anyway) through the NHS so it all depends if they check the date my OH registered with my GP. That seems to be the only reason they could decline which seems so unfair as otherwise we would meet the eligibility criteria. Waiting for him to have genetic blood testing and an ultrasound for both him and me too (he has severly low sperm count so will need ICSI). They need to decide whether he can provide a sample or if he needs surgical sperm retrieval. All my tests have been fine. I have a feeling this is going to be a loooong process 😔

Hi, first time replying on here and fairly new to the meds side of IVF but was wondering is anyone else has been effected by the buserelin shortage in UK? We were due to start in March but everything has now been postponed until they can get the medication in stock which we have no idea of time wise. We started our process in March 2021 when we first spoke with the doctor and have yet to start any kind of treatment due to long waiting lists on the NHS.
We had our nurses appointment booked for February 14th 2023 but that was also cancelled due to the Buserelin shortage..
Has anyone else been effected by this?

Wishing everyone lots of luck 🤍

Banbi · 24/02/2023 12:06

Hi all - good to hear all your journeys. Wishing you all the very best.

We've just started short protocol - CD5, started Meriofert on Tuesday so anticipating EC some time after 7 March. We were originally recommended long protocol but because of the Buserelin shortage and my age (38) we talked to the consultant and switched so we could make a start.

First cycle. We've been trying for 3 years now incl one MMC. Most tests on the NHS but no treatment for anyone over 35 in our area so we're going private.

greentreeseverywhere · 24/02/2023 20:41

So this round I'm on fostimon and meriofert(75/75) just done my first 2 Injections and forgotten how nerve racking I find it all 😂
1st round was gonalF and menpour (75/75)
and I got 11 eggs, 5 blastocysts, 1 fresh transfer graded 2 BC.

So looking fwd to seeing what results we get with the different medication

nizo1245 · 25/02/2023 09:30

Hope everyone is doing well!

I started down regulation yesterday with a prostap injection. Last time I had to do daily buserelin injections but this time it's just the one off prostap injection which should last for the whole cycle so that's a bonus!

Next appointment on the 16th March to check my lining and hopefully start stimulations.

Last time used Ovaleap and got 7 eggs, 6 mature, only 3 fertilised. Transferred 1 at day 3 and none made it to blast.

They're talking about using Menopur this time but might stick with ovaleap - not too sure what to expect but they're upping the dose from the start to hopefully recruit more follicles at the beginning.

Anyone used menopur before? Apparently you have to mix up a powder for each injection?
Ovaleap was a really easy to use pen so not sure how I feel about mixing up a syringe every morning. 🙈

Sd183 · 25/02/2023 11:58

Just checking in to say that I hope everyone is doing well!

greentreeseverywhere · 25/02/2023 13:38

@nizo1245 I used menpour along side gonalf and I made up the solution on the first day then it was done for the whole cycle. I just had to draw out the amount each time so wasn't to bad.
This time I have to mix up the solution of meriofert and fostimon each time

Good luck

Banbi · 25/02/2023 15:39

Question, please, for those with more experience at this - what do you think of PGT-A? We have unexplained infertility; it's being recommended by our clinic solely due to age (me 38, hubby 41) alongside some other extras, some of which are in our package, some we've paid for, and some we haven't. I read all the HFEA advice and it seemed like it might be better to hang on this cycle, knowing we can add it for future cycles if we choose. An elective freeze and testing is expensive and I'm just thinking that money might be better going toward another cycle. Obviously you're not medical professionals, but I'd be interested to hear other folks' experiences and thought processes if you're willing to share.

Irisjj · 25/02/2023 17:57

@Banbi we also do PGT-A testing because of multiple miscarriages. Our doc didn’t want to do a fresh transfer because he wants to make sure we have good quality embryos. For us our insurance covers it so we didn’t have to worry about additional fees, but I think we would have done it as well if we had to pay for it. Some of my friends transfers kept failing and apparently there was a big factor in some of the embryos having genetic defects.. I think since its such a difficult journey I want to have everything tested that is possible to give it the best shot - but I can also imagine other opinions especially if you have to pay out of pocket. Good luck with your decision!

I had my MRI yesterday - unfortunately they found a small noncancerous tumor in my pituitary gland. I was already on meds bc the high prolactin but they will probably increase my dose.

We can still do Egg Retrieval but I need to wait with FET till levels are coming down..

Banbi · 25/02/2023 18:11

Thanks @Irisjj and sorry to hear your news. But good that you can still go ahead with retrieval and at least now they know what they need to do to get you ready. Hoping it won't be too long of a wait for you x

LF82 · 26/02/2023 22:03

Hi ladies, is it ok I join this thread? I am hoping to start my next round of treatment in March. I am doing mild ivf, a freeze all cycle. Our first cycle was jan/feb and we got 3 frozen embryos (2 good quality according to the embryologist & 1 very average) We haven’t told anyone bar one friend that we are going through ivf as I can’t deal with the pressure/expectations. I really found Mumsnet helpful last time speaking to people who are in the same position and actually understand what I am going through!

Banbi · 27/02/2023 15:26

Welcome, @LF82! How's everyone doing today? Thanks for asking the other day, @Sd183, and sorry to be slow to notice.

I'm not feeling too emotionally off balance today, but I'm starting to be uncomfortable. Day 6 of Meriofert and 3 of Cetrotide. First scan on Wednesday. Am using the cat tree as an impromptu standing desk as it's more comfortable than sitting 🙄

LF82 · 27/02/2023 16:27

@Banbi thank you! I don’t have any experience of Meriofert but really did not like my cetrocide injections last time round so feel your pain there! Good luck for your scan on Wednesday!

Sd183 · 27/02/2023 20:21

Had my bloods done today and DH did his sample. We have our call with the doctor on Wednesday and we’ll find out our protocol. I’m so nervous that they’re going to tell us we can’t start on my next cycle! X

FieldView · 28/02/2023 19:46

Hi all, how's everyone getting on?

We had our consultation last week and now have our treatment plan, and they sent me away with a packet of the pill if I want to start on my next cycle (due Friday). I don't think we'll be ready by then as the Access Fertilily consent forms were only sent back today, and they need to do the medical review. Looks like I'll be on the April IVF thread if there is one!

FieldView · 28/02/2023 19:48

When are you expecting your next cycle @Sd183 ? Exciting that you could be starting soon!

Sd183 · 01/03/2023 11:10

@FieldView Had our call today and they’ve agreed we can start around 20th March with my next cycle ☺️ only catch being we have to do a Zika blood test beforehand as we were in an at risk country in January. We’ll be on short protocol. Can’t believe it’s going to actually happen! X

Rainbowpeach · 01/03/2023 11:34

Hello, would love to join. I started my estradiol tablets today! 5th round of IVF

LF82 · 01/03/2023 16:38

@Sd183 i think I am starting my next round around then too!

greentreeseverywhere · 01/03/2023 20:11

Had my first scan since starting stims on Friday. All looking good and have started Fyrmadle as well today. Next scan is Friday and hoping the good news continues

Hope everyone had a nice day

laurapop · 02/03/2023 09:35

Hi everyone! Hope I'm okay to join 😊

I've got a little girl through IVF born in 2020 and now we are trying again! We had 2 more embryos frozen from her cycle but unfortunately one ended in a chemical a few weeks ago.

So we are trying with our final frozen embryo when I start my period this month. So probably a transfer in early April?

I think because everything worked first time with my daughter it was such a blow this time, and now I'm so worried about it not working again. The pressure is off a little bit as I know how lucky I am to have my daughter, but it's still such a tough process.

Hope everyone is doing okay - I find it really nice chatting to people who are going through the same thing ❤️

LF82 · 02/03/2023 21:48

@greentreeseverywhere glad your first scan went well!
@Rainbowpeach welcome!
@laurapop it’s so good to be able to speak to people going through the same thing isn’t it

hope everyone is ok! I am trying to not wish the next month away before we can start again. We are having a weekend away this weekend so at least that will keep me occupied!

Rainbowpeach · 02/03/2023 22:58

@LF82 thank you. Same here, we are going for a weekend away before day 0 next week on the FET cycle. This will be my 5th IVF cycle after trying 4 times last year with no luck. I am so tired of disappointment with myself but even more annoying having to keep telling people of the negative news so this time I am just keeping everyone far away from me and not discussing it. I’m glad I can share here with people going through similar issues.

LF82 · 03/03/2023 07:37

@Rainbowpeach wishing you all the luck in the world for your FET. It’s such a hard journey isn’t it. I have had one freeze all cycle so far and hoping to start the next one at the end of March. I didn’t tell anyone bar one friend that we were having ivf as I didn’t want the pressure. Hope you have a good weekend x

MaybeBabyTwo · 03/03/2023 08:31

@laurapop similar situation here, trying again after my daughter was born in 2020.

Day 4 of this cycle, so 3 days of injection and tablets so far. Anxiety is high - I'm really worrying that I'm somehow doing something wrong?!
