IVF February 2023

HJen22 · 11/01/2023 14:06

Haven't seen a thread for February cycles so if anyone is waiting to start in the next few weeks and fancies some cycle buddies ❤️

Little about me, 34yo TCC #1. Low AFC/AMH. After two disastrous NHS cycles (NE Scotland) which resulted in no transfer, we went private and are away to start our second mild IVF cycle at Create in Manchester x

@VioletCookie ah you’ve really been through it with the losses, it’s so sad but you will get there. I know it’s easier said then done but I would stop testing, it’s just pure torture. Have you thought about another round yet and doing anything like genetic testing or any other tests like NK Cells test? We met our consultant today and he said for now he wants to go with the same protocol as he thinks we’ve just been unlucky but that if we had another failed round he’d propose some of the above. Feel very confused that there is just no indication of what went wrong. I totally get what you mean about your situation with your best friend but try and not compare. I do believe life has a plan for us all, and some people might take longer to conceive but something else in their life might come together in another area for them much more easily. We’re all going to have our unique journeys and ups and downs and unfortunately this is just one of our challenges to overcome xx

@SH998 I had really high rates so maybe an example of best case to give you optimism, they collected 14eggs, 10 fertilised but only 9 properly, and then of that we got 8 blastocysts on day 5. All excellent quality apart from 1 so that’s why I think best case, really wasn’t expecting such good results

JustBePositive · 24/02/2023 21:37

@VioletCookie oh I’m so sorry to hear this, I really hope that it isn’t what you think and that you get some positive news. I can only imagine how hard it must be to keep going and you just have to be kind to yourself. Take the time to be sad if you need to and let your body and mind heal. It really is such a rollercoaster you’ve just been through. I’m praying it al works out for you xx

TTCRose · 25/02/2023 09:17

Call from Embryology....out of the 2 eggs only 1 fertilised.

They plan on transfer tomorrow if all continues well.

Anyone has similar situations with potential successes.
All seems a bit too much like history repeating itself for me. Which obviously didn't end in a positive story.

Hi all

I’ve been lurking in the background a bit - I had an FET on the 15th and it’s OTD tomorrow. I’m trying for a sibling for my DS who was a successful FET in 2020. I thought it might lend a bit of hope if I shared how I got there:

  • referral for IVF 2019 (after 3 years TTC, long waiting lists, 6m clomid and finally concluded unexplained fertility)
  • First round Jan 2020 (cancelled due to 1 dominant follicle)
  • Second round March 2020 - 5 eggs collected, none fertilised
  • 3rd round July 2020. 3 eggs fertilised, 2 poor quality 3 day embryos transferred. BFN
  • 4th round Oct. 5 eggs fertilised, 4 good quality blasts! 1 transferred. BFN
  • FET Dec 2020 - BFP!
For so long I thought it would never happen and there must be something wrong with me. But I genuinely believe you can just be unlucky, and then suddenly lucky. sending lots of baby dust your way - fingers crossed for me tomorrow!
Boofimus · 25/02/2023 10:46

4 cell at Day 3 stopped developing

9 cell at Day 3 made a blastocyst, but a poor quality one, so they're not freezing today but going to see tomorrow

6 cell one made a lovely blastocyst, transferred this morning. So now we cross EVERYTHING.

JustBePositive · 25/02/2023 21:44

@LottSE20 wow what a crazy journey?!? What do you think changed from your first attempt? Did you make any lifestyle changes or was purely just repetition and luck? Congrats and making it and finally getting your positive xx

LottSE20 · 26/02/2023 07:29

@JustBePositive so on the 3rd round they switched to ICSI (which had marginally better results) and the 4th time they did PICSI which is apparently where they can identify which sperm are most likely to bond with the egg. But I’ve read about it and the research is inconclusive so who knows 🤷‍♀️
It helps me to realise that the chances are it won’t work first time, so as hard as it is, this time round I’m going to try not to focus on what might go wrong and just accept it might be a few goes. Which is all v well but it’s bloody expensive!!

TTCRose · 26/02/2023 14:49

Embryo transfer today of a 2 day embryo.

Here's to the two week wait!

Hoping everyone's good!

LF82 · 26/02/2023 14:50

@TTCRose goos luck!

Purplemichelle · 26/02/2023 17:38

Hi everyone. Just an update from me, 4DP5DT and still cramping in my abdomen and lower back. Feeling really low today. My clinic has said this is all normal and to try and relax. Finding it difficult to relax and distract myself. Any words of encouragement would be gratefully received right now. Xxx

Purplemichelle · 26/02/2023 17:40

@TTCRose wishing you so much luck. Xxx

LottSE20 · 26/02/2023 19:38

@Purplemichelle cramping can be a really good sign. I got my BFP today and I’ve had AF like cramping most days (and still now which is unnerving!). My clinic don’t offer bloody tests so I’ve got to wait it out until 6 weeks scan 😬
I hope you manage to relax - watch some trash TV? x

Purplemichelle · 26/02/2023 19:41

@LottSE20 congratulations on your BFP!!! Most clinics don’t do blood tests as standard which is super frustrating.

thanks for this. I feel exactly like I normally do in a monthly cycle so doubts have crept in as to whether it’s worked or not. Loads of trash TV going on here. Xx

Hiya! Please don’t feel down. Turns out that cramping in my abdomen and lower back were good signs. I tested obviously positive on 4DP5DT

Purplemichelle · 26/02/2023 20:26

@StoriesAboutJanuary thank you. Was the cramping continuous from ET? Did it feel like AF was coming for you? Xx

LF82 · 26/02/2023 20:51

@Purplemichelle I know it’s really hard but try your best to not over think everything especially symptoms as it’s so subjective and I think lots of women not going through the stresses of ivf wouldn’t have symptoms/realise they were pregnant so early on. Keep positive & try and keep yourself busy if you can. I actually think maybe the week/work will keep your mind more occupied than weekends! Have everything crossed for you that you will get a positive result at the end of the TWW! Xx

Purplemichelle · 26/02/2023 21:06

@LF82 you’re absolutely right. The weeks are fine, it’s the weekends. I did loads of nice things this weekend but in the quiet moments, your mind wanders and doubts creep in. 4 days down, 11 to go…. Xxx

Purplemichelle · 26/02/2023 21:06

I totally meant 9 days to go. Tired! Xxx

LF82 · 26/02/2023 21:43

@Purplemichelle you have totally got this - just take it one day at a time. Sending lots of positive energy your way x

@StoriesAboutJanuary thank you. Was the cramping continuous from ET? Did it feel like AF was coming for you? Xx

It was the very next day and lasted for two days. Then I got a really bad fever, then pink/brown spotting on Day 6.

Purplemichelle · 26/02/2023 21:48

@LF82 thank you.

@StoriesAboutJanuary ah ok. I’m on the fourth day of cramping, no spotting or fever. I was unwell during the stims and EC with a fever and a virus but on the mend now. This is such a minefield.

Thank you all for your support. Xxx

Boofimus · 27/02/2023 06:09

I'm also in the "cramping since ET and trying not to panic" crew. Urgh this is stressful.

SH998 · 27/02/2023 08:50

I was also in the 'cramping after ET crew' but since yesterday evening there's been nothing, now I'm googling like a maniac.
