IVF February 2023

HJen22 · 11/01/2023 14:06

Haven't seen a thread for February cycles so if anyone is waiting to start in the next few weeks and fancies some cycle buddies ❤️

Little about me, 34yo TCC #1. Low AFC/AMH. After two disastrous NHS cycles (NE Scotland) which resulted in no transfer, we went private and are away to start our second mild IVF cycle at Create in Manchester x

Just had my call and 11 of our 13 fertilised - I'm in shock! Just got to keep everything crossed they mature over the next few days.

Booked in for transfer at 1:30 on Monday and started lubion morning and evening. Had anyone else had any issues with gassy bloating? I'm so uncomfortable and my stomach feels HUGE and solid.

@Purplemichelle @VioletCookie it's so hard not to reflect on the losses, try to keep your mind distracted (easier than said) and body relaxed. I'll be thinking of you both.

@VioletCookie hope the bloods go well! xxx

VioletCookie · 23/02/2023 11:29

@West8690 wow that's so exciting, congratulations! Crossing everything for Monday, being PUPO is a great way to start the week! 🤞🏼🤞🏼 Can I ask what your progesterone level was for the lubion and when this test was taken in your cycle/IVF protocol? Xx

VioletCookie · 23/02/2023 11:30

@Purplemichelle agreed, all consuming is putting it lightly 😅 xx

West8690 · 23/02/2023 11:38

@VioletCookie it was tested initially during fertility investigations, apparently it can be a common issue with PCOS and it was non existent. Ive been kept on lubion even after transfer through each cycle as I have nothing to help build up my lining and hold a pregnancy. I don't have periods because of it so even though I ovulate it's the reason we can't get pregnant- so frustrating! xxx

Purplemichelle · 23/02/2023 12:14

@West8690 thats amazing, congratulations! Good luck for Monday and yes I really struggled as soon as I started Lubion was gas and bloating. It did seem to ease for me with long walks and shed loads of water. Luckily I’m distracted with work today. I think the weekends will be harder.

@VioletCookie i think the process just shows us how strong we are.

In other news, has anyone who has had a recent transfer got aches in the lower part of their tummies and lower backs? Mine are hurting today and it feels like period pain. I don’t want to google it as that’s a minefield and will cause panic but just interested to see what your experiences were? My last round was 2 years ago and I can’t remember how I felt then at all. I think I blocked it out as the cycle was unsuccessful. Xxx

Sj2505 · 23/02/2023 12:32

@AM08 any sign of AF? Our bodies have a mind of their own sometimes.
Thank you, I will absolutely just follow the recommendations of the consultant. They will know best, I don't mind waiting if it increases our chances.

@SH998 fingers crossed for your call today! Hope you managed to get some sleep.

@West8690 that's amazing news! I'll be on Lubion and Cyclogest too. Let me know how you get on with it. Is the gassy bloating from Lubion or post EC?

@Purplemichelle how many dpt are you? They could all be good signs. It's so different from one woman to the next, but a lot comment on period aches and period symptoms 🤞🏼

Fingers crossed my bloating seems a bit better today, although it usually progresses throughout the day. Been having high protein foods and drinks. And drink a lot more water. Hopefully my scan tomorrow will be better 😊

SH998 · 23/02/2023 13:03

@Sj2505 I received the call very early this morning and all 8 that fertilised have made it to day 3 so I'm over the mood. I'm booked in for transfer on Saturday.

Good luck to all waiting on scans, collections, transfers and TWW :) X

Sj2505 · 23/02/2023 13:07

@SH998 oh that's excellent news!! So happy for you!

Purplemichelle · 23/02/2023 13:15

@SH998 great news!!!

@Sj2505 i had the transfer yesterday so I think it’s a bit soon for these symptoms. Xxx

Sj2505 · 23/02/2023 13:21

@Purplemichelle apparently after transfer the embryo can implant 1-5 days after, so maybe 🤞🏼

Purplemichelle · 23/02/2023 13:23

@Sj2505 thanks 😊

blueskies94 · 23/02/2023 13:40

I've had my lining check and ready for transfer but the clinic doesn't have next months schedule prepared so can't book me in yet. So frustrating!

VioletCookie · 23/02/2023 16:11

Update on my HCG result... clinic called and its at 16, which is apparently a grey area between pregnant and not pregnant so I've got another test booked for Monday. Mentally preparing for loss no.3 😔

I haven't found the Lubion so bad this time around, but last cycle definitely yes! (And I only have it once a day because I also have cyclogest).

Boofimus · 23/02/2023 16:43

So having told us that 4 of the 5 fertilised, one of them then went on a wonk and developed some extra pronuclei. I didn't even know that could happen?!

So at 3 days we've got 4 cells (not hopeful: our last two cycles we've had to transfer something that only made it to 5 cells at this stage, and both of them haven't made proper blastocysts in time so I've kind of written that one off), a 6 cell and a 9 cell (which apparently is not better, because it should be 6-8 and growing too fast can also be a bad sign?)

Transfer booked for Saturday.

WholeZebra · 23/02/2023 16:45

Hi guys! Just popping in because I’m new here. Myself and my partner have had multiple setbacks over the last year with changes to our plans, had another setback at our treatment planning meeting at the start of the week. We’ve got a meeting tomorrow with our consultant and hoping to get started asap. Feeling super anxious about the whole thing, finding it lonely and difficult - haven’t told anyone about our plans to save disappointment. Which is what has led me here! Hoping to make some new friends!

Purplemichelle · 23/02/2023 18:03

@VioletCookie everything crossed for Monday for you.

@Boofimus I’ve read stories of poorer embryos going onto a successful pregnancy. Hopefully by Saturday they will have developed more so can be graded.

@WholeZebra welcome! Definitely consider some counselling which your clinic should offer before you start treatment. It will get you in the right mindset. It’s a rollercoaster of a journey. Make sure you tell your partner how you are feeling at every step and encourage them to share with you too. It’s emotionally draining but can bring you closer together.

JustBePositive · 23/02/2023 19:33

@Purplemichelle yes I’ve been feeling periody and crampy ever since transfer, but not today… today I haven’t felt anything and it’s day 4… so I wonder if it’s the implanting causing the irritating? So hopefully both positive signs!

AM08 · 23/02/2023 19:51

@VioletCookie im so sorry to hear this, very similar situation to mine on Monday which was 27, I really hope your doing ok. It’s such a sad and confusing thing to happen but with time you will feel better again and you will go on to have a successful round - i have read a number of articles that say women after a chemical pregnancy are more likely to have a successful next round then those where there was no implantation and only a negative test. Hope your taking it easy and let us know about Monday - will be thinking of you xx

Purplemichelle · 23/02/2023 20:51

@JustBePositive thank you so much for your reply. Will keep my fingers crossed for both of us.

I have however just had a huge meltdown in front of my hubby. He was amazing. Everything has just got to me this evening particularly with the realisation that this is our very last chance. Although I knew it was, I don’t think I’d actually truly accepted it. I wouldn’t wish IVF on anyone, it’s so unbelievably tough. Tomorrow is another day. Xxx

SH998 · 24/02/2023 10:04

Morning ladies, I was just wondering, those who have had a transfer, what was your drop off rate between 3 and 5 days? I have my transfer tomorrow morning, we had 8 embryos on my day 3 call.

TTCRose · 24/02/2023 11:19

Just had egg collection and they collected 2 eggs.

So fingers crossed so wonderful fertilisation happens!

Hope everyone else is good!

Carly05 · 24/02/2023 12:27

Hi everyone I've been away for a bit after a failed first cycle about to start a second round but been told there's a shortage of menopur. Has anyone else had this problem and what alternative medication have they been offered? I understand that menopur is the only fertility medication that has LH in it....any thoughts?

LF82 · 24/02/2023 13:33

@TTCRose got my finders crossed for you! Hope you are feeling ok x

@Carly05 sorry thats not a drug I was using but am sure someone else will be able to help x

VioletCookie · 24/02/2023 15:17

@AM08 thank you for being so kind. I'm such a mess, trying to work while watching the line get lighter each day so I expect I'll start bleeding soon. I thought IVF was the answer, we've never been pregnant naturally and now we've had 3 IVF losses in a row! I don't think it's ever going to happen, I'm convinced there's something wrong with my egg quality 😞 I mentioned my best friend is pregnant, she doesnt know this but im really not handling it well, sounds stupid but I feel like I've been left behind. My head really isn't in a good place 😕 xx
