IVF February 2023

1000 replies

HJen22 · 11/01/2023 14:06

Haven't seen a thread for February cycles so if anyone is waiting to start in the next few weeks and fancies some cycle buddies ❤️

Little about me, 34yo TCC #1. Low AFC/AMH. After two disastrous NHS cycles (NE Scotland) which resulted in no transfer, we went private and are away to start our second mild IVF cycle at Create in Manchester x

Ah I am 2 days post transfer and I’ll want to do is bulk buy tests 😂 not much will power here, so very scared it won’t have worked

Carly05 · 10/02/2023 09:41

LF82 perhaps the difference between short protocol and mild is just the dose? I did menopur 375 iu from day 3 of period and the fyrmedal to stop me ovulating before trigger ( so only 12 days of meds in total)
But amazing news on Ur 4 fertilised that's a great number ☺️👍

Carly05 · 10/02/2023 09:44

Am08 thanks, yes it really does help having people on the chat room to talk through our journeys with ❤️.
I will keep everything crossed that Ur transfer has been successful and you get a positive test xxxx

West8690 · 10/02/2023 15:13

@Katie12444 I was told to drink whole milk too - they don't know why but for some reason it seems to have a positive impact!

Weird one, I've started my ovaleap (which is already kicking my ass, boobs killing and dodgy stomach plus feeling sick) and my sense of taste seems to have changed. Has anyone else had this before?

Im having serious flashbacks to our first round. Ovaleap made me feel I'll all day but calmed down by an evening. Then I started fyremadel on an evening and I just felt rotten all day and night, looking forward to that on Sunday!

Katie12444 · 10/02/2023 15:30

@West8690 Yes I’ve heard that. I’ll give it a shot!! Sorry to hear about the side effects. Hopefully they are short lived.

LF82 · 10/02/2023 17:42

@Carly05 yes perhaps it just the amount of meds that’s different. I was on gonal f 150 from day 2 x

AM08 · 11/02/2023 08:24

@Carly05 thank you so much, fingers very much crossed! Hope your doing ok too - when do you have a slot to discuss with your clinic and the therapist?

How is everyone getting on?

I was so positive going into transfer that this would work but think it’s dawned on me how much I’ve put in (as all of us ladies who are going through this have) and just how id cope if it all went wrong. I have 0 symptoms - some cramping but I had that the night before transfer so think that’s just progesterone.

TTCRose · 11/02/2023 09:53

So many messages to catch up on!

Hope everyone doing well waiting to start, doing stims, egg collections and transfers!!

I'm cycle day 1 today...2 days earlier than expected. Emailed the clinic but won't be open till Monday now due to weekend. Wondering if starting stims a day late will effect anything or if earlier cycle start change potential scan dates/egg collection!

X

Purplemichelle · 11/02/2023 09:54

@AM08 the TWW is the hardest. When are you due to test?

Day 6 of stims here and have a very sore tummy. First tracking scan on Monday and hoping for more than 2 follicles this time. All consuming isn’t it? Xx

Purplemichelle · 11/02/2023 09:57

@TTCRose morning. I was worried about that too but clinics will have skeleton staff over the weekend to send you your treatment plan. Have they sent you one in advance? If you are to start meds on day 2 which will be tomorrow morning, they usually just say to start on day 2 as you would usually and then your treatment plan is updated when the clinic is open on Monday. Perhaps call the patient line as that will be open for enquiries.

TTCRose · 11/02/2023 10:41

@Purplemichelle

Thanks...my clinic is NHS so I don't believe there is any staff working there.

On information sheet it says if cycle day 1 falls on Friday evening or weekend to contact clinic Monday morning before 12.

Purplemichelle · 11/02/2023 11:04

@TTCRose ok I’m sure this has happened to loads of people. They will let you know on Monday, don’t stress about it. X

THISISIT23 · 11/02/2023 11:13

@TTCRose I started my treatment on day 3 due to delays with the clinic managed to still get 9 eggs on egg collection which 6 fertilised so starting later doesn’t always effect treatment just make sure you ring them Monday xxx

TTCRose · 11/02/2023 11:37

@THISISIT23 @Purplemichelle

Thanks both!

JustBePositive · 11/02/2023 15:59

I’m struggling to keep up with who everyone is and what stages people are at and what types of journeys we’re all on!! Isn’t it amazing how many people we have to talk to about all of this!

So my update for anyone interested 😂 im now on day 11 of ovaleap on a 225 dose and finding it all quite easy. I had a monthly i injection, instead of doing daily buserelin so only one needle per day is working great, Can totally see how it would it would be painful doing 2!

i haven’t really had any symptoms, but to be honest I’m really not even thinking about any of it much. Busy with work and life and super calm about it all which might be helping.

day 7 onwards i started to feel mild twinging so I knew it was starting to work, before that literally nothing and almost forgot I was even on ivF.

now I’m definitely feeling it, but still super mild for 10mins ish I’ll have a twinge and if I’m distracted I don’t even notice so that’s définitely my top tips - stay relaxed, try to forget about everything going on and think positively.

its my first time so no idea how my eggs will be…. But I’m mid-30’s and doing Icsi because my husband had to have PESA because of azoospermia.

is anyone else in a similar position?? Struggling to keep up with everyone’s situations but sending positivity and love to you all - our bodies are truly amazing

SH998 · 12/02/2023 08:02

Hi all,
I hope you don’t mind me jumping on the bandwagon :)
A little about me .. I’m 39 and been trying to conceive for over 6 years. This will be my second collection, first transfer resulted in a pregnancy but miscarried at 8 weeks and a failed FET in December. Currently on my 5th day of stims with a proposed collection date of 20/21st February.
Be great to hear of others experiences/advice :) x

LF82 · 12/02/2023 08:36

@JustBePositive @SH998 welcome both! It’s my first round so I don’t have much knowledge to share but I hope you are both doing ok and just taking one day at a time x

Sj2505 · 12/02/2023 09:34

Hi @SH998 - sorry to hear about your loss and failed cycle 😔 I really hope this is third time lucky for you!
You are only slightly ahead of me. I should start stims tomorrow following my baseline scan. I'm booked for EC week commencing 20/02 too, but I'm likely to be towards the end of the week I think.
How are you finding this round so far?

SH998 · 12/02/2023 10:25

@Sj2505 thank you, I’m hoping so too 🤞🏼
Im finding I’m a lot more calmer this time, maybe it’s as I know exactly what to expect. Although last time my body reacted well to the drugs and transfer my mind was all over the place. I wasn’t sleeping at night and the constant worry of ‘what if’ was a nightmare. I was constantly watching the clock waiting for the next injection and wishing the time away. If I learnt anything from last time around it is to stay calm and as chilled as positive, I know that’s easier said than done though lol 😂
At the moment no side effects to the meds so hopefully it remains that way :)
Is this your first try? How are you feeling about it all? What stims will you be on? I’m 225 Bemfola x

Megan1591 · 12/02/2023 10:49

Hey everyone,
Hope it's ok, if I join. Looking for some IVF buddies.
Background
Been trying to conceive for 7 years, lots of chemicals, 3 IUI resulted in 3 miscarriages, IVF round in November, resulted in 29 eggs(26 matured, 21 fertilised, 11 blastocysts) ended up OHSS.
Been given a date of 22nd feb for our first transfer, excited and super nervous.
Looking to hear anyone else's experiences, day 10 scan lining was 9.2mm. Im know day 13 and getting cramps. Anyone else experience this?

Sj2505 · 12/02/2023 11:08

@SH998 absolutely! I think a lot can be said about remaining calm and positive. Our bodies will always prioritise making stress hormones over sex hormones for survival, so I will be trying to avoiding all stress at all costs haha.
Good you're having no side effects!
I had IVF back in 2014, which resulted in my amazing 7 year old now ☺️
I'm so excited to get started again, it's daunting though as I have to remember that my body is 8 years older than it was back then.
I believe I'll be on three!! I've got Meriofert, Ovaleap and Fyramadel. It looks as though I start Meriofert and Ovaleap tomorrow, then add in Fyramadel around day 4 of stims 🤷🏻‍♀️
They'll confirm all that for me tomorrow though because I don't know the dosages etc either.

Sj2505 · 12/02/2023 11:12

@Megan1591 welcome Megan! I hope this is a lucky cycle for you ✨
Great to hear that you have several blasts on ice too!!

Megan1591 · 12/02/2023 11:26

@Sj2505 thank you so much.
Wishing you the best for your cycle. 😊

THISISIT23 · 12/02/2023 14:25

Still a week before test day woken up feeling really emotional and angry today :( anyone else felt like this? Just feel like everything is getting to me xxx

Boofimus · 12/02/2023 19:23

Just starting our fourth ICSI cycle.
Lost our NHS funding due to a biochemical RIGHT before we were due to start, then had to wait a year while we appealed and then geared up for a private cycle, and then had another biochemical and second miscarriage right before that.
First fresh cycle, husband had aspermia (literally not even one), so eggs had to just be frozen and there were only 3. Then they were defrosted and used for a frozen cycle, with no expectation of it working cos there were only 3 and they were poor quality. Then we did another fresh cycle, which only retrieved 2 eggs. Managed to get to transfer again but BFN.
So... we'll see. We paid up front for 3 fresh cycles so this feels a bit like the last attempt even though we might be able to afford one more if we scrape everything together.
