My hubby and I are on day 4 of stims - our first IVF cycle. Just wondering if there's anyone else in the same boat who might want to share the journey? :)

@User491 definitely sounds sensible to use nhs funding, the treatment is the same as private so may as well save the private for in case you ever need it.

@Koalie eeeeek exciting!! Not long to go now. How are you feeling?

Strawberry08 · 19/03/2023 22:16

@Izzie94x good luck for tomorrow’s big day!! Hope you manage to get some sleep tonight

Izzie94x · 20/03/2023 08:00

@Strawberry08 thanks so much lovely and you!!! Let us know how you get on🤍✨ sending you all the love.

I’ve been up since 6, belly’s going mad lol!! Very very nervous and praying for the best. I’ll update you all asap. Keep your fingers and toes crossed for me🤞🏼😂 xx

Strawberry08 · 20/03/2023 12:51

Great news here, little blob with heartbeat and measuring exactly within dates. So thrilled. I know not out of the danger zone but as best as can be for the moment

Izzie94x · 20/03/2023 16:28

@Strawberry08 so happy for you lovely! That’s amazing news. Are you 8 weeks now?

ours also went just perfectly, little baby measuring 3 days ahead!!! And I’m thinking little BOY🥰 DH would have loved a little girly as he has a son already but I sent it to the nub techs and they’ve said boy and always got it spot on with my friends. But little boys I’m sure are just so gorgeous too🥰🥰 xx

Oh what lovely news for a Monday afternoon ☺️ so pleased both appointments went well for you 🫶🏼 xx

Also @Izzie94x i think boys are more common with IVF and girls ICSI. I am convinced that I’m destined to be a boy Mum but would love a little girl too… x

Strawberry08 · 20/03/2023 20:58

Oh @Izzie94x what a stunning picture!! Congratulations. I always imagined myself a girl mum but had a little boy a few years ago and now I can’t imagine anything else. Either way you will be so thrilled. Are you going to find out at 16 weeks?
Fantastic news xx

Izzie94x · 21/03/2023 07:10

@Koalie oh how interesting!! We did have ICSI, must just be DHs very strong boy genes 😂😂

@Strawberry08 we’re just over the moon. I really didn’t expect a baby to even be in there lol!! It’s such a lovely feeling in that scan room, I wish I could do it every few weeks. Aww that’s amazing and makes me feel better. I’d love either (obviously after IVF you just want a health baby!!!) but I’ve also always pictured myself as a girl mummy. But a little mummys boy would be perfect hehe. We’re defo finding out! Going to book at early scan for 3 weeks 😁 xxx

What did you ladies do about exercise after transfer? I currently weight train 4 times a week (which I obvs won’t be doing straight after but would be good to know when I can start again if you have any knowledge on that) but I also walk about half an hour a day and wasn’t sure whether I’d be able to keep that up. Did you do any walking at all on the day of/day after transfer? It’s difficult to know whether it will be beneficial or not, as some people say yes and others say put your feet up for a couple of days 🤔 x

OP posts:
Izzie94x · 21/03/2023 12:28

@Koalie I avoided any strenuous lifting! I wouldn’t even lift the hoover downstairs (Henry is heavy!!😂) but I did continue my other activities such as walking the dog twice a day for about 45 minutes each time. In fact, straight after transfer we went and got a McDonald’s and I was swannning around lol!! And walked the dog that evening 😊 - I’m not sure on lifting weights, obviously your body is used to it! But I’d personally avoid for the 10 days just incase! Xx

Koalie · 21/03/2023 15:02

@Izzie94x OK that’s really helpful, thank you. Will continue with my walking and hope for the best 🤞🏼x

OP posts:
Strawberry08 · 21/03/2023 15:35

@Koalie I would definitely continue the walking. My clinic told me to carry on as normal but no heavy lifting initially (so think that counts out your weight training) and not do anything that pushes you too hard so walking and light exercise totally fine!
I think I overdid it a bit (I have dog and horses and toddler) but turned out okay!

@Koalie How are you feeling about Friday?

Koalie · 21/03/2023 17:04

Well if you both did lots of walking after transfer then that must be the secret to success! SIGN ME UP FOR A MARATHON 😂

I’m feeling good thanks lovely. Excited and ready for it. I’ve not mentally prepared myself for a potential negative result though which I feel like I need to do just in case. 🥴 x

Izzie94x · 21/03/2023 17:27

@Koalie remember all the silly little old wives tails too!!! I have no idea if they worked but it can’t do any harm 🤭

  • POM juice
  • keeping feet warm
  • brazil nut 1 or 2 a day
  • pineapple core!!!
I also switched from TTC vitamins to pregnancy vitamins!! I also tried eating 5 fruit and veg a day - but I didn’t always succeed with this. Which makes me laugh a little as I went right off veg in the first trimester so I don’t know why I thought that would help anyway hahaha!!!

Youve got this!! So excited for you. I kept a positive mindset too, but was also worried it would hurt more if it was negative so I completely get that!! Xx

Strawberry08 · 23/03/2023 19:59

@Koalie best of luck for tomorrow!! Hope you’re feeling okay.
Sending all the sticky baby vibes xx

Koalie · 23/03/2023 21:33

Thank you @Strawberry08 ☺️ @Izzie94x don’t worry, I’m on with all the wives tales … another one apparently is laughing after transfer so plan on going home and sticking a bit of Ricky Gervais on the telly box! I had a bit of a panic today because I’ve been having cramps but my clinic don’t seem concerned and I found lots of people on forums say they had cramps before their FET due to the progesterone. Phew! I’ll let you all know how it goes x

OP posts:
Izzie94x · 24/03/2023 09:09

Good luck my lovely!!! Eeeeek @Koalie officially
PUPO!!!! 🤍✨ I also felt quite crampy before my transfer - whilst I know it was a fresh transfer, I think it was the progesterone!! Xx

Koalie · 24/03/2023 16:05

Oh we’ve had the most lovely day. Blue skies and sunshine this morning on our walk, then we got in the car to go to the clinic and I switched over the station to ‘smooth fm’ looking for something chilled and a song me and my Mum always said reminds us of each other was on (Mum died a few years ago) so I’ve felt like she’s been with us all day 🥰 the transfer was emotional - hubby had a little tear which set me off 😆 we are now sat on the sofa with the dog enjoying our day off. So all in all, even if the transfer doesn’t work, it’s been magical 💫

OP posts:
Strawberry08 · 24/03/2023 21:18

@Koalie oh that sounds like the most perfect day ❤️ I think it may just have meant to be!!
Now the wait begins to try not to give into the temptation of early testing!

Izzie94x · 25/03/2023 08:30

@Koalie how absolutely incredible 😭 I found the entire day so so magical too. Just something about it!! Made me emotional and it was by far the best day out of the entire IVF experience. Your mum was definitely with you. I always believe in signs🤍✨ this is it! Eeeeek!! Keep us posted!!!! Are you going to wait the full 10 days? Xx

Koalie · 25/03/2023 09:27

@Strawberry08 & @Izzie94x thank you ladies ☺️ my OTD is 06/04 … when the nurse was telling me I was like mmhmmm, ok. 👀 lol. We are going to wait as long as we can but will def test before then. Because it’s an FET there’s no hcg trigger so I don’t need to worry about a false positive.

Do both of you know what grades your embryos were? Mine went from a 5AA to a 4AA after thaw which she said was normal and it was already expanding again nicely.

I fear today is going to be one of anxiety. Already thinking ‘oh god, I sat with my knees up on the sofa, what if I’ve squashed the embryo up my tube’ 🙄🤯😂 hellllpppp lol this is going to be a long week 😩

OP posts:
Izzie94x · 25/03/2023 09:48

@Koalie i was exactly the same, wanting to wait - i was naughty and tested without telling DH, because he so desperately wanted to wait. But I just couldn’t shake the feeling of peeing on a stick 😂😂 eeeek!!!!

Omg 5AA that thawed to a 4AA is amazing!!!!! We had a 4AB put back in, as that was our best one! We have another 4AB and the rest 3AA/ 3AB! So not holding out much hope they’ll thaw great lol! But that’s a problem for future me😂

Oh god don’t. I remember those fears. Or reading if you lay down on one side too much it’ll attach the wrong - that scared me cause I lay on the sofa from 7pm - bedtime hahaha!!!! But all was fine. Make sure you get moving too for the blood flow. I’m so excited for you!! Xx

Koalie · 25/03/2023 10:44

@Izzie94x from what I understand, anything AA or AB is great 👍🏼

That’s reassuring that you also sent yourself a little bit mad in the tww lol. I’m off out for a walk in a bit but also on blood thinners that will help with blood flow ☺️x
