FET/IVF - January 2023

Hey

I would love to get a group together of some of us who are undergoing IVF or FETs in Jan. I found it really helpful to have the support of those going through similar last time (Nov 2020).

My story: I am due to start my first FET in January of my one and only frozen embryo. The embryo is from a cycle in Nov 2020 when I was almost 36. I have low AMH and AFC and it was my first and only NHS round. I got 4 eggs all which miraculously fertilised, 1 made it to day 5 and was put back in with a fresh transfer. Sadly it did not stick. 1 egg was left until day 6 and it finally made it to blastocyst. It has been frozen. Rather than having a FET back then they advised me to do a banking package of 3 cycles due to my low AMH/AFC so in Jan 2021 we started our first private IVF cycle with the same clinic (Kings). Once again I was on max stims (gonal f and menopur) and it looked like we would get 4 eggs again but when I woke from EC they told me they only got 2. I had a bit of a breakdown. I was so upset going through all that including over £2k worth of drugs injected to only get two eggs. It felt even worse as I had let myself hope it would go well. Out of the 2 eggs only 1 fertilised normally. On day 3 the embryologist told me it was average quality and she wasn't sure it would be good enough to freeze on day 5 if it even made it that far. I couldn't handle the thought of going through all that mental anguish to not have anything to freeze so I made a last minute decision to go in for a day 3 fresh transfer. I had zero expectations but somehow that average embryo stuck. I was so stressed all pregnancy and worried about everything but amazingly I gave birth to my first baby in Sep 2021. He is now 14 months and I am turning 38 in 2 weeks.

Now it is time to get back on the IVF/FET train. I have been for my initial scan and blood tests. The scan was fine. Still not many follicles but not significantly worse. Waiting for a consult with the Dr next week for an update on my AMH (can't wait.... ) where she'll also decide on our protocol. I am leaning towards a medicated FET just so we can plan it a bit better. If that doesn't work then it is back to a 3 cycle package of IVF.

I hope I haven't bored anyone reading this to tears. Would be great if anyone else out there would like to be a cycle buddy? :-)

@countrypunk I feel that unless you have had this journey you'll never understand and some people say the most silly things... but then when they don't get it they think they are saying the right thing maybe 🤷🏼‍♀️ exactly like you that's why this place is so nice! A good support! Where are you in your journey?

AnnaPr1992 · 29/01/2023 11:55

@countrypunk I haven't even shared with our family coz simply I know they will never understand and from the country we are from they will judge me they will say is my fault that their son married a women who can't offer him children .. I don't want to sound mean but they won't understand maybe is the culture is the background and even the educational level..

Only my mother knows from my side and none of my husband's side
2 friends they know coz they are just purely amazing and supportive friends
All the rest they don't have to know coz is between me and my husband ♥️

AnnaPr1992 · 29/01/2023 11:57

@Autumbreeze so true !!!!! Only when you go through this you understand how difficult and emotionally tough it is 🥺
The ridiculous things I heard from family when I had the miscarriage made me want to cut them off

I prefer to talk to strangers and here I have got the support I needed ♥️ you are all amazing 😘

countrypunk · 29/01/2023 12:13

@AnnaPr1992 Oh that sounds really hard. I'm sorry you have to deal with ignorant comments from your family on top of this pain. I'm so glad you've got two supportive friends. Even one person showing compassion and empathy makes such a difference ♥️

@Autumbreeze You're right, it's impossible to understand if you haven't been through it. I thought I knew what I was getting into - I didn't! We've had one round on the NHS and we got two blastocysts. Our first transfer in November failed, so this is our second and final blastocyst. No more NHS funding after this. We have some savings but I don't know what we'll do next. I read the other day that if you have low AMH, as I do, you're more likely to conceive naturally than through IVF. I don't know how true that is. Everywhere you look there are conflicting opinions.

I'm wishing you so much luck with your EC tomorrow. Come back and tell us how you get on 🧡

AnnaPr1992 · 29/01/2023 12:23

@countrypunk thank you so much for your kind words ♥️ 🙏🤞

AnnaPr1992 · 29/01/2023 12:30

Ladies sorry to post this but I have a 5 boxes of Utrogestan 200mg of pessaries with the applicators- they are sealed boxes and I got them from Fertility2U during my first FET
I don't need them anymore because they switched me to Cyclogest and the clinic doesn't accept them back
I know some people have to pay for these and they aren't cheap and I feel so bad to throw them away
Iam happy to give them to anymore who needs them and I am happy to post them out to you ♥️

Claireabella05 · 29/01/2023 13:21

@AnnaPr1992 thats very kind and thoughtful! i would be happy to take these if they are still available please and will pay, and i will pass them on if they are not needed.

AnnaPr1992 · 29/01/2023 13:24

@Claireabella05 I will post them out to you and is not need to pay anything 😊 I just want your address really
I live in Cambridge myself x

Claireabella05 · 29/01/2023 13:30

@AnnaPr1992 thank you so much 🙏🙏
I have pm'd you.

Autumbreeze · 29/01/2023 16:09

@countrypunk good luck with this one! I've heard good things from frozen transfers so I have everything crossed for you!! DH has MFI, so no chance of us convincing naturally at all unfortunately.

Thank you, will let you know how tomorrow goes!

@AnnaPr1992 it really is easier talking to strangers. People are so silly with what they say. How lucky are they they don't have this battle. I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. That must have been really tough!

Frosty91 · 29/01/2023 18:42

Hi guys.
Anyone tested postive on a clear blue digital 5 days after embryo transfer😍 No trigger injection.
Mine was a 6 day embryo.
Early detective HCG on a digital mean anything. Did anyone have twins with early detecting on a clear blue.

JenM83beth · 29/01/2023 19:56

Hi @Autumbreeze im having a frozen transfer in a few days as well. I just saw you’ve heard good things about them. Are they better than fresh why is frozen good?

Autumbreeze · 29/01/2023 20:04

@JenM83beth the few people I know who has had IVF seem to have better luck with there frozen cycles than fresh. But that's just from the people I know. We are all different I guess ☺️ good luck for your transfer!!

JenM83beth · 29/01/2023 20:43

Thank you @Autumbreeze thats really useful to know!

acaciabluebell · 29/01/2023 21:45

4dp5dt and the period type cramps are really strong! I just am so confused. If I'm on a medicated FET and taking progesterone will I come on my period? I'm freaking out tbh. I've heard of loads of people who come on their period before test day.

AnnaPr1992 · 29/01/2023 21:53

@acaciabluebell I have had so much cramping since day 1 , I even woke up at night due to pain checking to see if I actually had blood coming
Don't worry is absolutely normal and is a very good sign too
Period won't come due to the progesterone we take
Please do worry 🙏 I wish you all the best luck ♥️

Frosty91 · 29/01/2023 21:53

@acaciabluebell period cramps are similar to pregnancy cramps so keep thinking postive. BTW I tested a BFP on a digital clearblue 1 - 2 weeks and today is 5dpt no trigger injection❤ I was shocked that it showed up on a digital . I had a faint postive from day 3.. and tested everyday since then. Praying that you get a postive soon xx
Do you know how they work out due date with frozen embryo transfer x

Frosty91 · 29/01/2023 21:55

@acaciabluebell have you been testing early or you waiting x

acaciabluebell · 29/01/2023 22:03

Thank you so much @AnnaPr1992 that is so reassuring. It feels so much like a period so it's scary. I also think it's stronger now than before.

@Frosty91 havent tested yet and I'm too afraid to test tbh... I'm enjoying being PUPO too much!!

Frosty91 · 29/01/2023 22:10

@acaciabluebell aww enjoy it. I been testing everyday since 3dpt transfer and it has been getting darker hence why I thought let me use the digital and was shocked. It said 1- 2 weeks not sure how it works in FET when do they start the date from. First IVF hence the excitement of testing x

I have really enjoyed testing I think your body tells you I been so out of breath and exhausted and that's not me.
I will be signing out this thread in a few days and joining another one. Sticking around for a week🙈 hopefully will see good news coming .This thread has been amazing. And I wish everyone has blessings coming there way x

Frosty91 · 29/01/2023 22:11

I know the digital is pricey but totally worth it. Highly recommend using that one even a week before period x

Frosty91 · 29/01/2023 22:18

Uploaded a picture just incase anyone knew comes on this feed to give some hope❤ 6 day embryo 5 day transfer. First IVF first FET.
Tested at 3dpt no line. Faint line from day 4 which the camera can't capture but can see from the eye. And day 5 postive on clearblue. Never give up x

FET/IVF - January 2023
Frosty91 · 29/01/2023 22:21

* correcting the above message. 3 dpt was a very faint line but camera can't capture. 4dpt line is more visible to eye. Then gets darker x

MsSandyToes · 29/01/2023 22:23

@acaciabluebell I'm also 4dp5dt but mine was a fresh transfer and I have what feels like period cramps, sore boobs and (sorry for tmi) lots of discharge. I've read it can also be side effects of the progesterone but I'm also a little nervous about if it's good or not if it's not just that. The wait is horrible 🙃

MsSandyToes · 29/01/2023 22:24

Congratulations @Frosty91 🥳
