FET/IVF - January 2023

Hey

I would love to get a group together of some of us who are undergoing IVF or FETs in Jan. I found it really helpful to have the support of those going through similar last time (Nov 2020).

My story: I am due to start my first FET in January of my one and only frozen embryo. The embryo is from a cycle in Nov 2020 when I was almost 36. I have low AMH and AFC and it was my first and only NHS round. I got 4 eggs all which miraculously fertilised, 1 made it to day 5 and was put back in with a fresh transfer. Sadly it did not stick. 1 egg was left until day 6 and it finally made it to blastocyst. It has been frozen. Rather than having a FET back then they advised me to do a banking package of 3 cycles due to my low AMH/AFC so in Jan 2021 we started our first private IVF cycle with the same clinic (Kings). Once again I was on max stims (gonal f and menopur) and it looked like we would get 4 eggs again but when I woke from EC they told me they only got 2. I had a bit of a breakdown. I was so upset going through all that including over £2k worth of drugs injected to only get two eggs. It felt even worse as I had let myself hope it would go well. Out of the 2 eggs only 1 fertilised normally. On day 3 the embryologist told me it was average quality and she wasn't sure it would be good enough to freeze on day 5 if it even made it that far. I couldn't handle the thought of going through all that mental anguish to not have anything to freeze so I made a last minute decision to go in for a day 3 fresh transfer. I had zero expectations but somehow that average embryo stuck. I was so stressed all pregnancy and worried about everything but amazingly I gave birth to my first baby in Sep 2021. He is now 14 months and I am turning 38 in 2 weeks.

Now it is time to get back on the IVF/FET train. I have been for my initial scan and blood tests. The scan was fine. Still not many follicles but not significantly worse. Waiting for a consult with the Dr next week for an update on my AMH (can't wait.... ) where she'll also decide on our protocol. I am leaning towards a medicated FET just so we can plan it a bit better. If that doesn't work then it is back to a 3 cycle package of IVF.

I hope I haven't bored anyone reading this to tears. Would be great if anyone else out there would like to be a cycle buddy? :-)

@Lauralozzle quality over quantity is what counts anyway :-). my rights doing most of work my left have 5 but only one has reacted to the injections unless it catches up when i have scan tomorrow morning . ill just be happy with one egg at end of it they can use.

same as me not full sedation either. let me know how you get on nice to know someone on same timing as me :-)

@Lauralozzle i also have only one good ovary and a low AMH , did anyone ever tell you why that might be?

Tranfer done and I'm officially PUPO, my test date is the 6th Feb, and im not going to test early this time!!
I asked the embryologist if it thawed OK, and all she did was nod and say yes, thought she would say more info, but I suppose that's good news...

Haven't managed to put my feet up yet, but defo the plan for this evening.

I’m also back for scan tomorrow, hoping the 4 follicles that they saw yesterday have continued to grow. Was expecting a few more even with a low amh but apparently my right ovary is doing nothing.

Does make me wonder if my amh is low because it appears that only my left ovary works?

Also was told to expect EC on Monday!

@Hopefulfirstround No, no-one has ever said what could have caused it. I've been asked if I had surgery before, but I've only had surgery on my elbow so wouldn't be that. My dud ovary is the side where I get cramps, and I suspect it's maybe endo because of that. But, my H.S.G was clear no issues and my womb always looks good so it's never really been looked into, was never offered a lap as apparently I didn't need one. That, or I'm starting menopause early and ovary has given up the ghost. Cramps aren't horrible when I get them, but it's always that side, but not bad enough for GP to do anything about it. They just lumped me down as unexplained, but I think it must have something to do with it! 3.5 years with nothing. I thought it was my dominant ovary before all the scans and tests started haha 😂

@Laur0606 Good luck for your scan tomorrow! I'm with you on the right ovary doing nothing! I'm pretty sure that's why my AMH is low end of normal for my age, every scan they've either not found it or it's small with a single follicle. It just doesn't want to play ball at all!

Day 2 post embryo transfer. Very sore boobs still, and constantly out if breath. Never had sore boobs during periods or ever.
And dirohea? Anyone experienced dirohea.

@Frosty91 ah if you have developed loose stools probably is side effects from the medications. Are you taking progesterone/oestrogen only or anything else?

@Frosty91 i haven’t got a whiff of a symptom yet ! keep touching my boobs in the hope that they might hurt but nothing .
This is my 2nd round , the last one ended in a chemical but I remember feeling more than I do now.
Crossing fingers it’s just too early still !

@AnnaPr1992 @JuliaIVF83 well I was on progesterone before transfer and didn't have no symptoms and during periods I don't get cramps or back ache or sore boobs. So everything is all new to me. I mentioned it in another thread about dirohea and it is common during this stage so who knows. Fingers cross. Really hope it works out for you x

@JuliaIVF83 some people get no symptoms and still get a BFP. So don't worry too much x

I had horribly sore boobs after my fresh transfer which was a side effect of the HCG trigger injection. It's a cruel one cos it's obviously a sign of early pregnancy!

After Sunday's frozen transfer I have no symptoms whatsoever. Apart from pooping more regularly, but I think that's related to the progesterone pessaries up my bum.

@Lauralozzle The sedation is the best bit of the whole IVF process! You'll feel lovely 😊

@countrypunk mine is s frozen transfer so no trigger. And my progesterone are the utogestan which is vaginal use only. I am thinking positive vibes only. Whatever is meant to be will be. Eveything happens at the right time x

I was talking to a friend today and she mentioned something about the NIPT test...
Does anyone know anything regarding this test? Is worth it?
I had a look and is quite pricey too...

I have a day 3 transfer of 2 9A embryos . This was done in germany so I don't understand musvh I was told they are very good but am still all over the place.

I can't find much about a 9 Cell on the Internet so an not sure as the transfer took place it was a 9 cell so would they both be a 10 cell by the time they were transfered as I don't know much. The clinic don't speak much English and it was hard to ask question

I have been testing just so I can do a day by day for myself note. My transfer was on mo day at 2pm so now its Friday 🤔🙄

Forgot to add my boobs are killing me and sometimes when am asleep I get a sharp stab in them. No bleeding and just feel hungry all the time. Apart from that I don't have any tummy cramps at all 😭

@SusanTurner my boobs are killing me answer im eating so much too !! Sounds hopeful to me . @Frosty91 id say everyone has different symptoms and I’ve also seen people with no symptoms at all , hopefully we all have sticky embryos ! My beta is on Monday , I’m gone into crazy mode taking a test every day , terrified of a chemical pregnancy

Your lines are really good. I don't think mine has worked as my lines take ages to come. Maybe overlap line.

@SusanTurner when is your official testing date. I pray it goes well for you fingers crossed. Sore boobs I have been getting them too since transfer day. I'm a firm believer whatever is meant to be will be. Have faith.. I can see some faint lines x @Hopefulfirstround good luck with your blood tests Monday I really hope it goes well for you. My blood test is on the 6/2 so still log time away but should it be at least showing anything yet

@SusanTurner when was your transfer ? Mine showed on day 5 post transfer and it was day 5 blastocyst embryo .

My transfer was on Monday at 2Pm. So today is day 5 and I have a 3 day transfer of 2 9A embryos

Did you test today ?
To be honest I don't have experience with day 3 embryos but please don't put your hopes down .
Is still very very early is only been 5 days
The clinics say to test 10 or so 11 days after and there is a reason for that.
Everyone is different and every embryo is different, other implant same day others take up to 36hrs to attach themselves to the uterus wall.

@SusanTurner everyone is different. I would say check again in like 3 4 days. Hopefully the line will be getting darker x it being a day 3 embryo transfer it might take longer my official testing date is 6th February to. Had my transfer on TUESDAY a day 5 blastocyst. Don't worry too much. Keep yourself busy x
