FET/IVF - January 2023

Hey

I would love to get a group together of some of us who are undergoing IVF or FETs in Jan. I found it really helpful to have the support of those going through similar last time (Nov 2020).

My story: I am due to start my first FET in January of my one and only frozen embryo. The embryo is from a cycle in Nov 2020 when I was almost 36. I have low AMH and AFC and it was my first and only NHS round. I got 4 eggs all which miraculously fertilised, 1 made it to day 5 and was put back in with a fresh transfer. Sadly it did not stick. 1 egg was left until day 6 and it finally made it to blastocyst. It has been frozen. Rather than having a FET back then they advised me to do a banking package of 3 cycles due to my low AMH/AFC so in Jan 2021 we started our first private IVF cycle with the same clinic (Kings). Once again I was on max stims (gonal f and menopur) and it looked like we would get 4 eggs again but when I woke from EC they told me they only got 2. I had a bit of a breakdown. I was so upset going through all that including over £2k worth of drugs injected to only get two eggs. It felt even worse as I had let myself hope it would go well. Out of the 2 eggs only 1 fertilised normally. On day 3 the embryologist told me it was average quality and she wasn't sure it would be good enough to freeze on day 5 if it even made it that far. I couldn't handle the thought of going through all that mental anguish to not have anything to freeze so I made a last minute decision to go in for a day 3 fresh transfer. I had zero expectations but somehow that average embryo stuck. I was so stressed all pregnancy and worried about everything but amazingly I gave birth to my first baby in Sep 2021. He is now 14 months and I am turning 38 in 2 weeks.

Now it is time to get back on the IVF/FET train. I have been for my initial scan and blood tests. The scan was fine. Still not many follicles but not significantly worse. Waiting for a consult with the Dr next week for an update on my AMH (can't wait.... ) where she'll also decide on our protocol. I am leaning towards a medicated FET just so we can plan it a bit better. If that doesn't work then it is back to a 3 cycle package of IVF.

I hope I haven't bored anyone reading this to tears. Would be great if anyone else out there would like to be a cycle buddy? :-)

Hey guys!! I had my transfer today and I'm finally PUPO. It feels like such a long time coming as I had my egg collection in August and my fresh transfer had to be cancelled hence why I had a FET. This is our only embryo and first ever transfer. OTD is 5th Feb 🤞🏼

@Claireabella05 Progesterone has given me very painful boobs but that's about it. They were sensitive on estrogen alone and then got worse on progesterone lol. I had a progesterone blood test today and if it comes back low then I'm increasing my progesterone injection dose to daily.

Claireabella05 · 25/01/2023 18:56

@ali2021 yes I'm the same, I'm using Utrogestan and worrying there is to much leaking out, sorry tmi! Yes snap no bloating or anything,

@AnnaPr1992 I'm only taking 600mg a day maybe that's why aswell....your signs sound very promising though 🤞

Claireabella05 · 25/01/2023 18:57

@acaciabluebell congratulations on being PUPO, sending lots of sticky vibes your way!

Laur0606 · 25/01/2023 18:58

Thank you @Jane1284 and @Claireabella05 for the lovely positive messages! I am trying to drill quality over quantity into my head and focus on the potential 4 I may get.

Good luck @Lauralozzle for tomorrow’s scan.

Thinking of all of you on the 2ww. Let us know if you find good ways to pass the time as I will be after all the ideas!

AnnaPr1992 · 25/01/2023 19:06

@Claireabella05 I used the Utrogestan 600mg a day in my first transfer but ended in a miscarriage so my consultant switched me to Cyclogest 1200mg.

Ahh they all do leak a lotttt - I have destroyed all my panties 🙄😅🤣 hahaha even if I use pads they just got ruined 🙄

But don't worry the progesterone gets absorbed within 30minutes - when you inserted try to lay down for half an hour and should be fine!!!

Claireabella05 · 25/01/2023 19:17

@AnnaPr1992 thank you, evening one is usually fine as its before bed, lunch isn't too bad as I work from home so spend my lunch break as a nice 30 min lie down, I need to keep that one up haha, its just the morning, I get about 20 minutes as I can't get my ass up any earlier, but will keep trying lol, hopefully that's still done the job.....

Lucy5yearsttc · 25/01/2023 20:09

@Claireabella05 i made my clinic test my progesterone on the day of transfer as I was nervous as previous transfers it’s been low and I’ve had to increase. Maybe ask if they can test? I’m now on 2 cyclogest and 2 crinone a day. Initially I had such bad bloating and gas but it eases. The only thing with the crinone is it leaks out and I always feel like I’m weeing!x

JenM83beth · 25/01/2023 20:25

@Laur0606 dont be deflated - it will happen! Keep drinking your water and taking your folic acid vitamins (I take pregnacare). Everyone’s journey is so different and as someone has already said - it only takes one good egg! You have done brilliantly so far .. 💜💜💜

countrypunk · 25/01/2023 20:55

@acaciabluebell Congratulations! Quite a few of us in this camp now.

I just read this and found it helpful re the TWW: theduff.co.uk/two-week-wait-cope/

SusanTurner · 25/01/2023 21:48

This is two days after transfer with two embryo. I know its too early to test but this is my first ivf cycle and I wanted to do a progress line or see if it completely stops.

You can't see the other line properly but I can see it and the colour is red . I heard of overlap lines but before this was dark grey to like a white colour .

How is everyone doing after their transfer ? Wishing you all all the baby dust in the world and I have told my self although we only ended up with only two eggs and if this does not work, il be back to do another cycle 😀

I had 2 9A embryos put back in but not sure eat that means but doctors said this is really good

Purrrrr · 26/01/2023 08:21

Congratulations on being PUPO @acaciabluebell !

@SusanTurner Did you have a fresh transfer? I can see something on the bottom test, but it is super early to test positive so wondered if it might be trigger?

I’m 9dp5dt today. I woke up at 4.30am this morning to go to the loo and I woke my husband up to tell him I couldn’t take it anymore and I needed to test 😂 We sat on the bathroom floor and waited and I finally got my BFP. I’ve got my beta bloods tomorrow so hoping they are ok 🤞🏻

Frosty91 · 26/01/2023 08:48

@Purrrrr omg congratulations this is such good news so happy for you💕 it was all worth the wait. I prat eveything goes well for you.

@acaciabluebell hope your transfer went well. I had mine on Tuesday I'm so excited. I will be testing early as it's my first IVF my first one will be Sunday and then every 3 days. X official testing date is 6th of Feb x

MsSandyToes · 26/01/2023 09:19

Hi everyone,

I'd like to join too please. I can see lots of you are in the 2WW. I had my transfer yesterday too. @acaciabluebell my OTD is 5th of Feb too. 😊 I'm still undecided on whether to test early or not. It's going to be a long 11 days 😬

SusanTurner · 26/01/2023 09:43

Yes fresh transfer 2 9a embryos xxx

Congratulation sweetie so happy for you

countrypunk · 26/01/2023 09:46

@Purrrrr Oh wow, massive congratulations to you ♥️♥️♥️
I think your body was telling you it was time to test! You must be over the moon.

@MsSandyToes Hello and welcome! Yeah, I'm only on day 4 and it's dragging already. I'm going to do some sort of online course in the evenings to keep my mind busy. Hope you're doing OK.

Jane1284 · 26/01/2023 09:48

wonderful news @Purrrrr - I hope your beta results are nice and positive xx

Congratulations @Purrrrr 🥳

Hopefulfirstround · 26/01/2023 11:47

@Purrrrr congratulations!!! Best of luck with your beta ❤️❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼@acaciabluebell I hope your transfer went well , mind yourself for the next couple of days x

acaciabluebell · 26/01/2023 12:12

Congratulations @Purrrrr!

Feels very surreal to be PUPO. Everyone once in a while I remember 'there's an embryo inside me' and it feels so crazy! It's also crazy to think that my OTD is literally next week.
Btw I've seen a few people talking about progesterone pessaries being annoying, TMI but I've been doing them via the back door and it's literally been perfect, no mess, no leakage and no need to wear panty liners constantly. I'm on cyclogest if that helps.

Lauralozzle · 26/01/2023 14:30

Had my first stims scans today.

I have 8 follicules, about 6 of them are between 14 - 19. There are two smaller ones about 10/11. Lining is 11.8.

Meds as normal tonight, then back at the clinic tomorrow for another scan.

It’s looking like Monday for egg collection, I’m nearly there, apparently!

zarascan47 · 26/01/2023 15:24

@Lauralozzle ome same as me egg collection monday i had 17 follicles total but i havent asked about the sizing etc or my lining measurement yet i have final scan before trigger on saturday tomorrow morning so will ask then. im nervous about egg collection

Lauralozzle · 26/01/2023 15:52

@zarascan47 I’m nervous too. Had to sign some paperwork where I agree to life saving proceedings if anything goes wrong! Eek 😬

17 is a good number! I only have one properly working ovary and AMH isn’t great so I’m quite pleased with 8. Even found one of the small ones on my dud ovary!

I’ll have conscious sedation, hopefully I’m not too aware of what’s going on!
