FET/IVF - January 2023

Hey

I would love to get a group together of some of us who are undergoing IVF or FETs in Jan. I found it really helpful to have the support of those going through similar last time (Nov 2020).

My story: I am due to start my first FET in January of my one and only frozen embryo. The embryo is from a cycle in Nov 2020 when I was almost 36. I have low AMH and AFC and it was my first and only NHS round. I got 4 eggs all which miraculously fertilised, 1 made it to day 5 and was put back in with a fresh transfer. Sadly it did not stick. 1 egg was left until day 6 and it finally made it to blastocyst. It has been frozen. Rather than having a FET back then they advised me to do a banking package of 3 cycles due to my low AMH/AFC so in Jan 2021 we started our first private IVF cycle with the same clinic (Kings). Once again I was on max stims (gonal f and menopur) and it looked like we would get 4 eggs again but when I woke from EC they told me they only got 2. I had a bit of a breakdown. I was so upset going through all that including over £2k worth of drugs injected to only get two eggs. It felt even worse as I had let myself hope it would go well. Out of the 2 eggs only 1 fertilised normally. On day 3 the embryologist told me it was average quality and she wasn't sure it would be good enough to freeze on day 5 if it even made it that far. I couldn't handle the thought of going through all that mental anguish to not have anything to freeze so I made a last minute decision to go in for a day 3 fresh transfer. I had zero expectations but somehow that average embryo stuck. I was so stressed all pregnancy and worried about everything but amazingly I gave birth to my first baby in Sep 2021. He is now 14 months and I am turning 38 in 2 weeks.

Now it is time to get back on the IVF/FET train. I have been for my initial scan and blood tests. The scan was fine. Still not many follicles but not significantly worse. Waiting for a consult with the Dr next week for an update on my AMH (can't wait.... ) where she'll also decide on our protocol. I am leaning towards a medicated FET just so we can plan it a bit better. If that doesn't work then it is back to a 3 cycle package of IVF.

I hope I haven't bored anyone reading this to tears. Would be great if anyone else out there would like to be a cycle buddy? :-)

@countrypunk
Omg when I was getting instructions for my transfer the nurse at my clinic told me to not have my bladder too full and that someone had peed all over the doctors face earlier that day 😳😳😳😳 she walked in and saw him covered in pee 😱

countrypunk · 19/01/2023 22:31

@acaciabluebell I properly laughed out loud when I read that... occupational hazard 💦

Fourfrosties · 20/01/2023 07:55

Pessaries started today, so panty liners at the ready! Felt very dizzy last night, hoping it's not side effects from the blood thinners 😬

My clinic said to have a 'comfortably full' bladder so hoping to avoid any incidents with the Dr at transfer 😂

LittleDoveLove · 20/01/2023 08:06

Thank you everyone for your kind messages. Just going. To focus on the future and hope the next one survives. So difficult this journey. X

Frosty91 · 20/01/2023 08:27

@Fourfrosties good luck. Are you using the cyclogest they can be messy. I have had no problems with the utrogesten ones. And yes panty liners are a must.

Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated and plenty of rest before the transfer x

IVFAT40 · 20/01/2023 09:27

Hello all! I'm 40 and currently going through my second round of IVF. First ended in a chemical pregnancy and FET was just a BFN.
I had 10 eggs collected on 10th January and they all fertilised. 5 made it to day 5 embryos and I had 2 put back and 3 frozen.
My official test date is 14dt5dt by hpt which is Tuesday. I've been testing since 7dp5dt and getting positives but I'm worried it's a chemical again because they're not getting darker even though I left it 48 hours between each brand xx

Sorry I mean transfered on 10th January. Egg collection was 5th January xx

Purrrrr · 20/01/2023 09:54

@IVFAT40 Those tests look like they are darker to me. The earlier ones will have dried too, which I think can affect the colour? Does your clinic offer a blood HCG test? It might be worth giving them a call if you’re worried.

IVFAT40 · 20/01/2023 09:58

@Purrrrr my clinic don't offer bloods. Last time I had a positive leading up to and including day before OTD then on test day it was negative. I'm just so worried the same will happen again. I was hoping to see a clear darker line after 48 hours. Thanks though. I guess I'll still panic even it's positive on OTD lol xx

LF82 · 20/01/2023 09:59

@IVFAT40 i have my fingers crossed for you! They do look darker to me 🤞

IVFAT40 · 20/01/2023 10:01

Thank you @LF82 xx

Claireabella05 · 20/01/2023 12:48

@IVFAT40 they look lovely, dark and clear to me :) I wouldn't worry about the dye as they can vary from test to test and isn't an accurate count of hcg, congratulations and fingers crossed for you!

Can any of you ladies give advice please, i had my lining scan today, cycle day 8 and they said my lining looks great and I am ready for a transfer, that being next Thursday 26th (cycle day 14).....however, does this not seem to early? As i don't normally ovulate till around day 14, then a further 5 days for a blastocyst transfer would be aprox day 19? Or does this not matter if I have started progynova from day 2 (medicated FET without the down reg)? So confused as I didn't expect it to be that soon.

Frosty91 · 20/01/2023 13:06

@Claireabella05 Estrogen and Progesterone are administered to mimic the body’s cycle in a medicated FET so I don't think it matters when they do it. My transfer is Tuesday and I started taking estradiol on 5/1/23. In a natural cycle my ovulation would have been Monday. But medicated my transfer is Tuesday x don't worry too much. Good luck hope it goes all well x

Frosty91 · 20/01/2023 13:07

@Claireabella05 as long as the uterus lining looks great then your all good to go x

Greenlee · 20/01/2023 13:14

Congratulations @IVFAT40 . Call your GP and ask for a blood test xx

zarascan47 · 20/01/2023 13:42

Had day 5 scan today after being on fostimon i have 12 follicles right ovary 5 on left . left not responding to drugs as well as right so they want to me continue fostimon but start on fyremadel from saturday which is earlier then planned.

IVFAT40 · 20/01/2023 14:16

I did get my GP to arrange bloods yesterday (9dp5dt) but didn't hold out much hope of hearing back before my OTD with hpt next week, but they've just called and said my beta is 223 and they're arranging another test Monday (nowhere open over the weekend). I'm shocked that my GP got through results yet my clinic won't do bloods.
Is 223 decent for 9dp5dt. Could any of that be the trigger I had on 3rd January? Xx

Claireabella05 · 20/01/2023 16:01

@Frosty91 thank you, I started my estradiol on the 14th so doesn't seem long at all.
But makes sense the medication mimics the cycle, I suppose i can't complain of the medication is doing what it's meant too..

@zarascan47 17 sounds like a good number, I do belive quality is better than quantity!

@IVFAT40 that sounds positive news, I'm not sure about numbers but I believe they check more that the numbers are doubling, do you have another blood test booked in?

zarascan47 · 20/01/2023 16:26

@Claireabella05 ill be happy to get any its such a lottery that you have no control over unfortunately

Lauralozzle · 20/01/2023 17:24

@IVFAT40 Those tests look good to me. Hopefully your HCG will have increased a good amount when your bloods are re-done on Monday.

@zarascan47 17 sounds good! Fingers crossed for you. I fully expect to have a dominant ovary come Thursday when I have my scan. My left one seems to do all the work! It’s the one that they always say looks normal too! I’ll be happy if I get anything from my dud right ovary!

Seconds stims injection tonight. I know I’ve only had 1 stims injection so far, but with six weeks of down reg injections it just feels like it’s dragging! With all this going on, I’m finding it very difficult to concentrate at work. I wish I could just shut off my brain! Well, at least the IVF part of my brain, quite need the work part to do well, work!

6 days until my next scan. At least it’s the weekend now.

Claireabella05 · 20/01/2023 19:33

@zarascan47 definitely, youre ertainly right, i think that's why it makes it so much harder...

I just read studies that with less than 9 days exposure to estrogen before starting progesterone has reduced success rates, wish I never read them now 😔

DoxieGirl · 21/01/2023 11:01

Hi all,
First post. I'm 34, no children.
Diagnosis of complete septum in uterus.
Currently day 5 of Ovaleap/Fyremadel.
Scan due on Thurs and hopefully have plenty of big full follicles.
Amh is good apparently and am on 225 Ovaleap.
Had a prev unsuccessful cycle in 2018.

SusanTurner · 21/01/2023 14:09

Hey lovely
I just completed my first few days of overleap and had my egg retrieval yesterday. I was so scared but during the egg collection didn't feel a thing. The pain come on the night omg make sure tou have someone with you.

On my 3rd scan they said I only have 4 eggs and only one good one but on egg retrail I had 11 eggs and some very good large ones. I ways say its quality it what you should be looking for.

You will be OK. I have my transfer on Monday as I chose day 3 . I have been searching the net for 3 months and to me a day 3 transfer would be the best option. I can wait am having two transfered and I hope they both stick.

Just make sure tour having regular scan and blood work cause I was worried about over stimulation.

I wish you all the best lovely and ask as many questions as you need to as for me I had a horrible doctor that I was worried to ask anything to. Until I told them I no longer want to deal with her.

Please keep us updated 🙏

Frosty91 · 21/01/2023 15:35

@DoxieGirl good luck. Have you tries doing a frozen embryo transfer? Or are you doing another fresh cycle. @SusanTurner Egg collection I didnt feel a thing. I didn't get no pain after was. It was literally in, sleep and out lol is this your first cycle. Its my first cycle I have my frozen transfer on Tuesday. Good luck with day 3 I haven't read much on day 3 ones. Hope it all goes well for you. Fingers crossed x loads of transfers happening next week I'm praying we all have good results x

SusanTurner · 21/01/2023 15:54

No I don't know about frozen transfer is that when you freeze them and come back later on to transfer them? I came to Germany for the treatment so am hoping this goes well or I will have to be back faster than I wanted to lol

Wishing everyone on here all the best . We are trying for twso was told two is enough. But am not greedy even if we just have the one that more than OK.

Am excited but so worried at the same time that it won't work ..
