I’m preparing to start my treatment cycle in a month or so and thought it might be helpful to start up a thread for anyone heading for FET soon.

This will be my first FET so I’m nervous but also feeling hopeful having gone through a fair amount of testing and treatment. Think I’m about as prepared as I’ll ever be!

Current cycle finally got going two days ago after a bit of a delay and I’ve decided to use it to focus on eating well and getting into the right headspace.

Anyone at a similar stage and want some company?

I don’t have much experience with tests @Kelvie103, but I understand from forum members that the pink dye ones are preferred. Also at some point there isn’t much more a urine test can tell you, I understood that most clinics send their patients for HCG blood tests on getting a BFP and continue testing bloods until a level over 1000 is reached. Then I think maternity services take over. The blood tests will hopefully tell you what you need to know. Sorry I can’t offer more reassurance.

OrangeBengal · 24/10/2022 13:33

(BFP on the clinic’s OTD)

MyEasterEggs · 24/10/2022 18:49

I wouldn’t rely on these tests @Kelvie103 as there’s such a range here and varying levels of sensitivity. I’ve found FRER to be most accurate. But at over 5 weeks bloods will give you the best measure. I know it’s an anxious wait for them (I went through my GP and it took almost a week. It was bloody awful!) but I think extra tests could be more stressful for you? I can appreciate the need to manage expectations though 💛

Thanks OrangeBengal and MyEasterEggs. I do tend to be quite negative and worry alot about things. My husband said he's glad I've run out of tests and I've promised him I'll stop googling. I'm just hoping it's that the blue tests are a bit rubbish, they took ages to come up whereas the pink test came up instantly before the control line. At least I'll hopefully know either way by the end of the week as its the not knowing I struggle with. I'm with a private clinic but they've not been the best and don't really test anything.

chloedancer88 · 24/10/2022 20:45

@Kelvie103 the tests tell you nothing at a certain stage so please don't focus too much on it. I luckily ran out of tests or I would have done the same but I did use some cheapies for a while and they came up very faint and then it made me spiral and panic and I'm now almost 11 weeks. Your bloods will be more accurate xx

IVFitis · 25/10/2022 07:15

@Kelvie103
Its difficult because you are using different brand tests. Maybe stick with the first response and use over three days with FMU. I found those tests helpful in telling me about my chemical and also good when I got pregnant this cycle. I started clear blue weeks indicator at 4 weeks and 5 weeks. That also worked both times to tell me if I was indeed pregnant or not. Really hoping it’s worked for you.

sailinginthemed · 25/10/2022 07:58

Can I join please? We had been trying for 4 years. We had one embryo with our first IVF cycle and it ended with an empty gestational sac at the 7 week scan.

We also got one embryo with our second IVF cycle but much to my disbelief we had our 6 week scan yesterday and there was a little heartbeat. I’m 6 weeks 5 days today.

I know there is still a long road ahead so it would be lovely to have support of other ladies who understand.

I haven’t read the whole thread but wishing everyone on here success.

@Kelvie103 We convinced ourselves this pregnancy was a chemical because the test was was pretty light at 8dp5dt and that was with a FRER, but the blood test came back at 130 at 9DP5DT so it just shows the urine tests are very unreliable. Hang in there.

Hi All
Just a quick update, I had my hcg results back last week was 3200, today was 21300, so that's a relief! All the nausea etc is also reassuring. I've got my first ultrasound on the 3rd November at 7 weeks 3 days. Fingers crossed.
It's so lovely hearing all the good news from you all.

MyEasterEggs · 25/10/2022 11:14

Welcome @sailinginthemed. We’re at a similar stage, I’m 6+3, and saw a little heartbeat on Friday. It was a lovely feeling but have a long way to go before I can really enjoy this. If I ever will!

Great news @SL42smbc 🤗

Great news with al the new bfps!!!! Hope everyone is doing ok.
other than some really mild nausea and super painful boobs i don’t have much going on now.
have a scan booked next week at 9 1/2 weeks as it’s too long a wait for 12 week scan!!

Bookbug92 · 25/10/2022 13:03

Congratulations @sailinginthemed, seeing the heartbeat must have been amazing! I'm sorry to hear about your previous pregnancy. I'm sure the anxiety never goes away but seeing the heartbeat is another hurdle passed (and what a lovely hurdle).

That's a great hcg number @SL42smbc!!

Forgive me if I've missed it in the thread but are you continuing to test @OrangeBengal? When is your OTD?

My OTD was today, so I called the clinic and I am 4 weeks 4 days 🤞🏻 they've booked my first scan for 7 weeks, which is the day before my 30th birthday! Praying for good news, just wondering if I can hold out til then 🙈

OrangeBengal · 25/10/2022 13:18

Hey @Bookbug92 yes, I’ve never tested this early before, so to reassure myself that this isn’t a chemical, I’m going to test up until Saturday, which is OTD. Last time I tested 8dp6dt and the time before that 10dp6dt, both BFN.

Kelvie103 · 25/10/2022 13:32

@sailinginthemed congratulations on the scan, it must be such a relief having seen the heartbeat. It's reassuring to hear you can get a faint line on a test and still have good numbers. I was always assuming that would indicate otherwise.

@SL42smbc that sounds like a really great increase. Good luck with your scan next week.

@Bookbug92 I have my first scan at around 7 weeks too and am finding the wait really difficult. Especially as it feels like a lot of people get scans at 6 weeks. That extra week is tough, good luck!

sailinginthemed · 25/10/2022 21:52

Thank you @MyEasterEggs so lovely to hear you heard the heartbeat of your little one also 😍

Thank you @Bookbug92 seeing your little bean at the ultrasound scan will be the best 30th birthday present ever 💓

@Kelvie103 The wait from OTD till the viabilty scan felt sooooo long. I know nothing really can take our mind of it but we did numb ourselves some evenings with an INSANE amount of Netflix

OrangeBengal · 25/10/2022 23:03

I’m bleeding, pink blood. Though no pain, which is my usual period sign. I’ve never come on my period whilst on progesterone before. Not sure what to think, I know bleeding can be normal, but it doesn’t feel like a good sign.

sailinginthemed · 25/10/2022 23:11

@OrangeBengal I’m sorry for the worry you are going through. If it’s any reassurance, it says on my papers from my clinic, 30% of women spot during early pregnancy so in itself it is common. Ive read it’s when it’s accompanied by cramping it’s a worry so it’s positive it’s only bleeding you are experiencing alone. Might be worth checking with your clinic tomorrow for their take on it also and to put your mind at ease?

OrangeBengal · 25/10/2022 23:13

@sailinginthemed, yes I’ll do that, thank you. Really hope I’m on the 30%.

sailinginthemed · 25/10/2022 23:19

@OrangeBengal I read it again, sorry it actually says OVER 30%

MyEasterEggs · 26/10/2022 01:45

@OrangeBengal I’m not sure if you’ll remember but I had some spotting at the same stage and thought my period was on its way. I’ve never spotted in pregnancy before but clinic and PAU put it down to implantation. Hope the clinic can reassure you. They called me first thing in the morning after they picked up my email 💛

SL42smbc · 26/10/2022 02:21

@OrangeBengal I spotted Brown and light pink for about a week, I got worried so checked online, it said many women spot in the first trimester and so long as its brown or light pink, no clots or bright red blood not to worry to much. In conjunction with the spotting I had some light cramping, I think its the embrio burying furth into the uterus lining. Just keep an eye and if it gets worse see your doc.

OrangeBengal · 26/10/2022 08:56

Thank you so much @sailinginthemed, @MyEasterEggs and @SL42smbc. I think it’s stopped now and still no pain, so hopefully that’s it. I will contact the clinic now though.

OrangeBengal · 26/10/2022 11:24

Clinic said to keep testing and come in for bloods on Friday (9dp6dt) if I’m still positive that morning.

chloedancer88 · 26/10/2022 13:19

@OrangeBengal I had bleeding on and off but the worst was at 5 and 6 weeks.

OrangeBengal · 26/10/2022 13:34

And no more bleeding since @chloedancer88? Remind me what your beta were please. I think my clinic are being pretty cautious as it’s quite early, which is fair. Not much can be done. The nurse said I have to do betas until I get past 1000, so if I start now it’ll just mean more injections.
