FET in September/October

I’m preparing to start my treatment cycle in a month or so and thought it might be helpful to start up a thread for anyone heading for FET soon.

This will be my first FET so I’m nervous but also feeling hopeful having gone through a fair amount of testing and treatment. Think I’m about as prepared as I’ll ever be!

Current cycle finally got going two days ago after a bit of a delay and I’ve decided to use it to focus on eating well and getting into the right headspace.

Anyone at a similar stage and want some company?

Thank you @MyEasterEggs , we would love it if it was twins but one healthy baby would still be absolutely fantastic. Good luck with everything. We have our early scan date booked in for 4th November. And I've asked my clinic (private) if I can have my beta HCG checked which is now booked for Friday and Sunday. After last time I just feel like I need constant reassurance that things are going ok, seems a long long wait between now and the scan.

MyEasterEggs · 12/10/2022 07:32

@dlkiik I’ve felt physically better. But emotionally the symptoms are helping. With my first pregnancy 8 years ago I had very few. The worst was indigestion in the third trimester. This is my 8th pregnancy and the first where I’ve had indigestion at this stage so just ordered myself something to help. Like you taking it all as a good sign 🙂

@CentaurChiron had my first blood test yesterday and next is tomorrow so I can compare levels and, hopefully, relax a little more. But since I’ve has multiple losses, including one at 16 weeks, I don’t suppose I’ll settle until I’m much further ahead. I just keep telling myself I’ve done and am doing all I can.

@OrangeBengal good news! Wishing you all the best with FET and glad you’re on the Lubion. Makes much more sense for you. Good luck 🤞🏻

@LT103 I’ve had bloods with GP and I’m booked for first scan at PAU end of next week due to recurrent pregnancy loss. But I don’t think I’ll book in with midwife until after 8 weeks. Even then I probably won’t have first appointment until after 10 week scan as my last loss was at that stage and I’d just find it pointless going through it all unless I’m in a good place. No harm in booking though!

@EandKDJ I’m with you. The scans always feel like a long way away. I’ll be having them every two weeks up to 20 weeks and in some ways I’m pleased but I also know the wait before the next scan will be tough 😥

@MyEasterEggs Sending you so much luck for the HCG tests!!!

I find the wait between initial test day and the viability scan the absolute hardest!!!

Thinking to go away for the weekend to distract myself. DH will be back tonight so a roadtrip might be the ticket.

CentaurChiron · 12/10/2022 12:48

@MyEasterEggs I'm keeping everything crossed for your next set of results. I can completely understand why you wouldn't be able to relax after previous losses. It can feel like it's on a knife edge at this stage.

Conundrum12345 · 12/10/2022 15:41

What would be advisable to wear for the FET?

dlkiik · 12/10/2022 16:29

@Conundrum12345 it is just like having a smear test you take your bottom half off and get a gown or covered up so you can wear anything Smile

SarahC1985 · 12/10/2022 16:31

@MyEasterEggs I've never had indigestion like it! It's awful! Any suggestions?

MyEasterEggs · 12/10/2022 17:33

@SarahC1985 how you doing? Besides the gastro issues! And how far on are you now? I’ve ordered Sanno Gastril by Allergy Research. Thought it’d be better than chocolate milk, which I’m craving 😆

@Conundrum12345 like @dlkiik I just went as normal then changed into a gown. Also wore (and kept) the fetching blue totes toastie style socks 😄

Hi All

Thanks for remembering @LT103. Unfortunately it wasn't great news yesterday. I am 6+3 and although they could see a sac and some 'embryonic matter' the foetal pole was not clear and there was no heartbeat detected which there should be by that stage.

The consultant wasn't very hopeful of a positive outcome but it is now another week of waiting and meds to see if there is a change/ confirm a miscarriage.

I just feel exhausted by the whole process. This was my last embryo from that round and we have decided that if this doesn't work then we are done. I just can't do it anymore. I do have 2 children so I just need to focus on them.

Sorry I am so behind on the thread. I am struggling with the whole situation tbh.

@LT103 I hope things are still progressing well for you
@MyEasterEggs I do understand the obsession with testing, but i stepped away from them. They just drive you mad and the thing is anything can happen (as I am finding out) I would just relish the tests you have and enjoy being pregnant, The rest will come (just what I have learnt)
@OrangeBengal good luck with your transfer. Really hope this is the one for you 🙏
@Hopefull1981 I am so sorry about your losses. Its so much to bear isn't it but really hope this transfer is successful for you.

I worked so hard on body and mind this time and felt in such a good space. The positive test brought elation! Whatever happens now, I know that I could not have done anymore.

LT103 · 13/10/2022 07:59

@Hopeful199 im so sorry your in limbo for another week. The waiting is really the worst part!! I’m keeping everything crossed for you that things grow and that it’s just a bit early!!

im exhausted and permanently nauseous and still getting lots of cramps so it’s not great fun but I just need to keep telling myself these are positive signs!! I’m so anxious for my scan. At least having my first scan at 7 weeks I should know either way there and then.

OrangeBengal · 13/10/2022 08:06

Thanks @MyEasterEggs, I’m assuming the clinic / GP were happy with your HCG number, which is at least another stumbling block conquered :) Good luck for your next bloods.

@Hopeful199 I’m so sorry that a heartbeat couldn’t be found, it seems like there may still be hope though.

I start progesterone today, my ERA said I need 144hrs worth instead of the 120hrs I’ve had in all my previous transfers. I’m feeling a bit of pressure to make sure that I start at exactly the right time, especially as I have to go and pick up the drugs in London before I can take them. I thought I missed the train this morning, which would have been a disaster. I didn’t though.

MyEasterEggs · 13/10/2022 09:08

@Hopeful199 sending you lots of love and strength as you navigate the coming week. I’ve been there so many times and it truly is heartbreaking. As you say, anything can happen, so I hope something more positive can be seen at your next scan 💛

@OrangeBengal I don’t have the first HCG result yet. I’ll probably get that today and then the result for today’s bloods on Monday. So hopefully we’ll find they’re doubling. Would prefer to be getting results same or next day but made plans with family and friends to keep me busy between now and then. I certainly saw progression in the four tests I did, each of which were two days apart, but thankfully I don’t have any more to tempt me!

Keep us posted on your cycle 🙂

@MyEasterEggs I've been ok. Pregnancy symptoms have been tough. I'm just so tired and full of indigestion!

I had a very small bleed this evening, I don't know what to do. I'm 9+1 now, I hope it dies down. I don't have many cramps. When does this torture end?

MyEasterEggs · 14/10/2022 07:23

@SarahC1985 would your period have been due around now? I’ve read a bit about small bleeds happening around that time. Or it could be something like a polyp or slight irritation of the cervix. But I can appreciate how unsettling it must be. Can you contact your local PAU for an early scan? Mine will scan if there’s a bleed.

OrangeBengal · 14/10/2022 10:36

Nice to see progress on the lines @MyEasterEggs, good luck for your beta results.

I just made it on time (1 minute) to spare for my first injection - phew. Yesterday was stressful, from today there’s a bit more flexibility on when I can take my support, which is nice!

My thoughts are with you @SarahC1985. From what I understand lots of harmless things can cause bleeding.

Decaffe · 14/10/2022 16:51

Afternoon all, hope it’s ok for me to bob in. It looks like I’ll be doing a FET later this year and I wonder if you could tell me, what day of your cycle do you start meds, and, what are the meds for? I didn’t actually realise meds were involved as I thought they just waited for you to ovulate naturally and then do the transfer five days later? Would appreciate any info or tips! Thank you and greatest of luck to you all ❤️

MyEasterEggs · 14/10/2022 19:49

@Decaffe treatment varies slightly from person to person and clinic to clinic. I started Oestradiol on day 2, introduced Progesterone after my initial scan. 5 days before transfer I think. Some other drugs were introduced 3-5 days before transfer too; steroids, intralipids, blood thinners. The latter aren’t always prescribed though and just relate to my history. Hope this helps! Good luck with your cycle 💛

I had my FET today and the embryo was hatching. The embryologist seemed excited about it.

Its a 5 day blast and euploid. Any idea of the success rates? I'm on ah immune protocol

MyEasterEggs · 14/10/2022 20:38

I read a recent study that suggested the odds were 69.4% for the first euploid transfer, 59.3% for the second and 59.2% for the third. Great news it was hatching @Conundrum12345. It’s so nice when everyone is rooting for you. Our embryologist was lovely and had us all in tears before my transfer. Wishing you all the best 🤗

RMS0209 · 14/10/2022 20:52

Hi @Conundrum12345 ace news - sending luck.
I am doing a "natural" cycle apart from the injection of ovitrelle on the day of transfer.
How did you get on? What cycle day are you for transfer? Sorry lots of questions. My cycles are long... 44 days last cycle... but phoned the clinic today and they are still confident it's "regular" and don't want to put me on medicated... just another thing I've been stressing myself out about.. another day another stress tomorrow will be something different 😂x

Bookbug92 · 14/10/2022 22:21

Hi all, can I join too? I've been lurking 😂 I had a freeze all cycle back in July and we transferred a day 5 embryo on Wednesday - similar to @Conundrum12345 it was hatching which was lovely to hear. Did you have testing to know it was euploid? Sending lots of baby dust to you ✨️
Our clinic offer embryo glue as standard but I'm not sure how beneficial this is.
I've been taking cyclogest 400mg three times a day, does anyone else take it this regularly? I'm still worried my progesterone levels won't be high enough as I always spot a lot before a period. I don't think my clinic will test my levels though 😕

LT103 · 14/10/2022 23:50

@RMS0209 thats what I did and I queried it at first convinced that my borderline progesterone and spotting meant I’d need medicated but my clinic is all for natural cycles. I’ve had 2 FET now and both resulted in a positive pregnancy test. We lost our first to an early miscarriage/a embryonic pregnancy. And currently 6+5 with our second with first scan on Monday. I’d say just trust them.
i had bloods every 2 days to pick up ovulation. First cycle it took 4 samples, this time just the 3 but we started a day later.
the no medication part is great and if you ovulate yourself it’s def worth trying!

Conundrum12345 · 15/10/2022 00:25

@RMS0209 I was on a long medicated cycle for down regulation (about 6 weeks?). Buserlin every night then moved to oestrogen 5 times a day (2 of those vaginally). I'm also on 2 400mg progesterone pessaries

I've been on steroids (10mg pre transfer, now 20mg), baby aspirin, calcium tablets, 5mg folic acid as I'm homozygous MTHFR, Intralipids every 2 weeks and now clexane. Hopefully it all works and my immune system stays under control.

@Bookbug92 yep we had our embryos tested. Due to previous losses it was advised.

Wow those are great figures. I really don't want to get too excited!!
