Anybody having FET July or August?

Just waiting for my next cycle to start after a freeze all cycle. It should've been here last week but seems to be delayed so I feel like it's just a ticking clock. This will be my first FET, first ever transfer actually.

Anybody else in the same boat and want to keep me company?

I've just had a scare, felt crampy all day and then felt a bleed. I'm not sure if it's my period. But I did a test this morning it's 17 days past the transfer and it was a strong positive. I'm not sure what to do. Wait to see I'd there's more blood? Call the clinic?

Gracie2021 · 07/08/2022 19:33

So sorry you're getting that fright @Roobles79 is it just spotting or a proper bleed? Apparently a lot of people can get bleeding so fingers crossed nothing to worry about especially with good strong lines. Not sure about calling your clinic tbh, if it was a proper bleed and they had an emergency number it might be worthwhile for assurances sake or even to try be seen in the morning. Tbh I've never been this far before so have empathy but limited wisdom on this one.

Gracie2021 · 07/08/2022 19:36

Hi @WildSheep I joined since so just a newbie. Best of luck for your scan. The waiting is a killer for all this. It sounds like you have good reassuring symptoms anyway. Waiting on a beta Monday week the feels ages away but I'm such early days I feel bad even complaint about it.

I actually have to eat little and often to stave off lightheadedness @JessLaw96 but assuming it's progesterone related rather than symptoms as I'm a bit behind. Hope the light bites are doing the trick for your nausea.

Roobles79 · 07/08/2022 19:51

Thank you @gracie2021 I'm pretty sure it's my period. I rang the clinic they said 'sorry' and sounds like an early miscarriage.

WildSheep · 07/08/2022 20:11

@Roobles79 I was about to ask you more questions but I see you've spoken to your clinic - I'm so sorry. Are they going to scan you or did they just say to see how it goes? In any case, take care of yourself and we're here if you need to talk

Gracie2021 · 07/08/2022 20:12

God I'm so sorry @Roobles79 here if you need to vent or talk it through or anything else. Mind yourself xx

Roobles79 · 07/08/2022 20:29

@wildsheep they were a bit rubbish to be honest and just said to keep them posted. So I guess I just keeping taking the medication.

Roobles79 · 07/08/2022 20:29

I just feel completely knocked sideways at the moment.

Gracie2021 · 07/08/2022 20:44

No one could blame you for feeling shocked, that came out of nowhere. Did they seem to think there was any hope? I'm so sorry.

WildSheep · 07/08/2022 21:00

@Roobles79 I can imagine my clinic being the same too. I have to say though generally I've found they tend to air on the side of caution. Obviously they don't want to give false hope, but it sometimes seems like they like to prepare you for the worst outcome possible. I think it also depends on who you get to speak to on the other end of the phone.

Take it easy tonight, try to stay off google, keep taking the meds, stick on some crap TV and see what tomorrow brings x

Roobles79 · 08/08/2022 10:23

Thanks @wildsheep I am still having bad period like cramps and blood but not a full flow. I'm sorry to ask but can anyone tell me what their experience of a chemical pregnancy is like whilst on ivf drugs? Really feels like period keeps trying to come and progesterone is halting it. Its a horrible feeling. Clinic have said do another test and if it's negative stop the meds. I'm going to buy a test and do it tomorrow morning, but is it better to wait later to ensure a reliable result, because the hcg may stay in my system for a while? I am just about coming to terms with it being a chemical pregnancy, although we are both feeling very sad. Thanks.

Agapanthus13 · 08/08/2022 11:53

@Roobles79 how are you feeling today? I’m really sorry to hear you’re have bleeding, so tough to go through, even if everything turns out fine. Have you managed to test again today? Is there an opportunity to go in for a progesterone levels test?
in response to your question, when I had a chemical before I had really strong stabbing / cramping which came in waves throughout the day, I then started my period the following evening. But to be totally honest, it’s so so difficult to tell the difference between chemical / period symptoms Vs normal pregnancy twinges and cramps. Really hope you’re doing ok.

Roobles79 · 08/08/2022 13:14

Thanks @agapanthus13 that's helpful. I spoke to the clinic and they said do a test they don't do prog levels as its NHS clinic. It is tough to go through, I feel floored to be honest but I have been very lucky on our first round so I did think we'd be pushing our luck this time. It's so tough I can't imagine going through this process again and again. It was our last embryo, I keep telling myself it wasn't viable and it maybe had abnormalities, so wouldn't have turned into a baby anyway. I am 38 now so I feel like time not on my side if we were to go again, and the stress of everything past few years has nearly broken us to be honest. My husband had stage 4 bowel cancer 4 years ago and we had been trying for a few years for a baby, when we got the diagnosis we stored some sperm before his op. He then had quite a lot of chemo so I'm not sure if his sperm will be in a bad way now. But we might try naturally, who knows.

The bleeding feels quite sad and the cramps are quite painful aren't they, stronger than a normal period. I will get a test and try to do it tomorrow or weds I think. At least I will know one way or the other then. Thanks for sharing the experience. It must be difficult to re live it. Sounds so strange calling it a chemical pregnancy. It makes me wonder how little they know about the so called 'quality' of embryos, they said ours was a top grade but that's only what it looks like through a microscope and subjective I guess, who knows. I've got lots of things flying around my head, sorry for the offload!

Agapanthus13 · 08/08/2022 13:16

How is everyone else doing? I’ve been trying to switch off a little as the constant testing and googling etc was driving me a bit insane.
hope everyone’s journey is going ok. Big yay for all those with positive lines and sending lots of hugs to those who sadly hasn’t been there round.

JessLaw96 · 08/08/2022 15:36

@Roobles79 so sorry your going through all this but Take the test and see what it says for sure!

@Agapanthus13 Im feeling good, been testing everyday since Friday with a mix of cheap and early clear blue and the line is getting darker!! No sign of my period and currently 3 days late! How are you?

Gracie2021 · 08/08/2022 17:02

God you were able to get through to your clinic @Roobles79 but sorry they didn't have a better prediction for you. It's sounds like ye've properly been through the wringer and deserve better luck than this. So unfair. Agree about the name. It's so clinical for such a loss. Wishing I could give you a massive hug x

Gracie2021 · 08/08/2022 17:03

Glad you're doing well @JessLaw96 wondering at what stage do you class your period as late after a medicated cycle? Never even thought about that before.

How are you doing @Agapanthus13? Hope switching off helped!

JessLaw96 · 08/08/2022 17:16

@Gracie2021 I had a natural cycle, so no medication apart from pessaries and my periods are always like clockwork. Not sure if its different for medicated transfer or not.

Katerina79 · 08/08/2022 18:58

So I finally have my 6 week scan tomorrow 🤞 been really scared as last 2 days my symptoms seemed to disappeared.. do sore boobs come and go ? Had no bleeding or spotting at all so hopefully all will be OK?? @ChristmasJumpers your past the 6 week stage - hows everything?

ChristmasJumpers · 08/08/2022 20:49

@Katerina79 my sore boobs come and go too but always seem sore at bedtime. 7 weeks on Thursday and I'm exhausted and nauseous 🤢 nibbling biscuits literally all day to stave off feeling sick despite not wanting to eat at all

Scan next Tuesday so I have still been testing every few days to put my mind at ease

Agapanthus13 · 08/08/2022 22:23

@Roobles79
I’m really so sorry to hear about your journey so far, and your husbands cancer diagnosis. How is he doing now? Sorry if you’ve already said in the thread- did you have to use his frozen sperm in a single go or do you have more stored for another round if needed?

hope you’re making it through the day and keeping some hope going? just as an FYI I had a morning last week where I woke up in a lot of pain but my beta & hcg test were absolutely fine. So it’s not always end of the road, But I totally get that feeling of being hit by a bus, when you’re not sure what’s going on or the fear of the worse kicks in. Try and take some time to yourself and take one day at a time, lots of people experience cramping and bleeding and go on to have happy healthy pregnancies.

Ps I’m also 37, so not too far behind you. I’ve chatted to numerous women in their 40s on here having success, so I try to burry that worry away. Thinking of you and hoping all is ok x

Agapanthus13 · 08/08/2022 22:32

@JessLaw96 aww that’s so exciting to see the line progressing. How many days post transfer are you now and when otd? Hope you’re feeling ok too?
@Gracie2021 yes, switching off and not testing has done me the world of good, thank you. Scrutinising lines on a daily basis can send you insane I think! Although I did do one yesterday as I’ve barely had any symptoms. how are you getting on waiting for your beta? How many days post transfer are you? Have you tested at all? Sorry still catching up on the thread.
I’m due my first scan next week, desperately hoping we make it to it, lots of little milestones! X

JessLaw96 · 09/08/2022 06:35

@Agapanthus13 I am currently 12dpt today, i wanted a real dark positive to let clinic know so plan to do that today and see

Roobles79 · 09/08/2022 08:40

Thank you @agapanthus13 it's nice to have someone similar age. I am keeping my fingers crossed for your scan day! What day is it this week? So exciting!!

So my husband is doing okay we've been very lucky he's had clear scans ever since last chemo, we went to a very dark place and don't think we will ever be the same again. But we r doing okay thank u. Life does chuck its curve balls at you doesn't it.

I haven't had any bleeding since Sunday, so I'm not sure what's going on. Still cramping but other symptoms have disappeared. Doing a test in a bit. Xxx

Gracie2021 · 09/08/2022 08:52

So glad your husband is doing ok @Roobles79 but I'd say something like that changes you forever. So glad you had each other to get through it. Really hoping that it's a promising sign that the bleeding and cramps have stopped. Everything crossed for your test later.

Fingers crossed for a big dark line @JessLaw96. Will the clinic arrange bloods then when you let them know?

Assuming your test yesterday gave you reassurance @Agapanthus13. Amazing to have your first scan next week. Wow that will be amazing. I'm still only 8dpt today but the test line is almost as dark as the control today and I have good progression so happy out. Bloods are Monday and I'll hear the result Tuesday so just one day at a time. Testing daily until beta to try keep me sane.

Best of luck at your scan today @Katerina79!!

Sounds like you're having a dreadful time of it @ChristmasJumpers. Can you get anything to help with the nausea from the doctor?
