Hi

I am just wondering if anyone is currently with Newcastle fertility Clinic for IVF? I think I would just like to hear if someone is having a similar experience to me and how you are finding it :)

Hello everyone,

I'm so sorry I've not been back on, I wasn't getting notifications and just come on to check and seen all this amazing news!

Congratulations @Confused19831983 and @Farmersweeklyreader so pleased for you both.
@MitoMam amazing news you've had your transfer, I will keep my fingers crossed for you!
@IVFGotThis05 hope your ok on the meds, and pleased you've started now 😊
@Raizelrea fingers crossed for you testing too!

So I'm behind all you ladies, and wasn't due to start treatment until March April next year due to the waiting lists, but a lovely nurse who I dealt with on transferring to Newcastle had set me aside a date that I wasn't aware of! I found out a few weeks ago that I have egg collection early Jan, so I start my meds at the end of November 🥳🥳

Im feeling so much more positive now having dates etc, it's all very daunting, but very exciting 😊

Raizelrea · 14/10/2022 17:33

@IVFGotThis05 Thank you! Yes it was test day for me yesterday, I think if I make it further than last time I'll hopefully feel less anxious - though I'm too scared to test again.

I hope you are doing ok with the stims - I found them better than the buserelin on its own, though it does get uncomfortable towards the end!

Raizelrea · 14/10/2022 17:37

@User491 That's great news about your dates getting moved closer, not that long till you start medication now! 🎉

MitoMam · 15/10/2022 20:25

@Farmersweeklyreader thank you! I found the first 5 days after egg collection the most difficult waiting for the calls and updates but since transfer I've been ok. Time just seems to be going reeeeeeally slow. This is the longest week ever. How are you getting on? When do you go for your early scan?

@User491 great news that your dates got moved forward, I don't think you ever hear about that in the NHS! You must be so pleased it's moving along earlier than what you thought.

Farmersweeklyreader · 17/10/2022 14:47

@Raizelrea Welcome and congratulations on your positive result 😄
@User491 Yay to getting bumped up the queue, I’m glad the staff are looking after you. Not long till you start your treatment now.
@MitoMam I am ok, have my scan on Friday. How ru getting on?

IVFGotThis05 · 18/10/2022 09:27

@User491 Oh I'm pleased you have been brought forward! Waiting is the worst bit, not too long to now :)

I'm having a whingey day today. I'm day 6 of stims and I feel rotten, so tired and bad head! There's lots of bugs going round work at the minute so it could just be a little bit of germs trying to ruin my day!

Hope everyone is doing okay 😊

MitoMam · 18/10/2022 11:52

So many bugs going round @IVFGotThis05 ! My husband is currently in bed sick 🙄Just keeping him in the spare room 😂

@Farmersweeklyreader how are you feeling about the scan? I am guessing they will be able to tell you if they can detect 2 heartbeats on Friday?

I'm doing ok, it's test day tomorrow so really nervous. I was optimistic straight after transfer but now I have changed my mind completely and think it hasn't worked. Might be TMI but had a bit of spotting today. Whenever you see that you just think the worst.

Farmersweeklyreader · 18/10/2022 13:02

@IVFGotThis05 so many bugs going round just now. My nieces and nephews are constantly catching colds etc from school. One after the other. The stims won’t be helping, Hope you feel better soon.

Farmersweeklyreader · 18/10/2022 13:09

@MitoMam I feel nervous but excited about the scan. Just hoping everything is ok. They will be able to tell me how many are in there. I have it in my head that there is one baby, husband and I always speak about “the baby” so although I had 2 embryos put back in, we will genuinely be surprised if both have made it. It seems too good to be true. Fingers crossed my pregnancy is progressing as it should be.

Don’t be disheartened yet, spotting can mean implantation. I didn’t think it had worked for me yet I had a positive test.
Sending you all the positive thoughts to get you through to your test. Good luck 🤞

MitoMam · 18/10/2022 16:45

@Farmersweeklyreader Fingers crossed that both of them have made it 🤞 I'll be thinking of you on Friday going for your scan.

Thanks for the reassurance. Glad I've been back at work today, it's helped keep me busy so I'm not thinking about it all the time.

Raizelrea · 19/10/2022 17:29

Thank you for the warm welcome ladies! Unfortunately it's not good news from me, my positive started getting fainter over the weekend and is almost nonexistant now, just waiting for a confirmation from this morning's bloods before I stop medication. Seems like for whatever reason I just can't get past 5 weeks 🙁

@MitoMam I'm pretty sure the progesterone pessaries can cause a bit of spotting as they can aggrevate your cervix, fingers crossed!

@Farmersweeklyreader How exciting about your scan on Friday, I hope it goes well!

MitoMam · 20/10/2022 10:35

So sorry to hear that @Raizelrea 😥

IVFGotThis05 · 20/10/2022 12:25

Oh I'm so sorry! @Raizelrea 💐👐

@Raizelrea So sorry to hear that. I hope you are getting the support you need. X

Farmersweeklyreader · 22/10/2022 10:21

Hi everyone, my scan went well yesterday, baby was growing as it should be and we seen the heartbeat. Only 1 baby in there which is what I was expecting even though we did put both embryos back in. I just had a feeling.
I have been discharged now from the fertility clinic and have registered with a midwife. That in itself feels a bit scary.
hope everyone is well. X

Confused19831983 · 22/10/2022 15:16

@MitoMam @IVFGotThis05 @Farmersweeklyreader Thank you so much for your kind words re. my positive. And @Farmersweeklyreader congrats on your scan. Made up for you 😊

@Raizelrea So sorry to hear your news. This journey can be so tough. I really hope you are OK, and are able to find a way forward.

I haven't posted for a while as my own experience (which I am sure is similar to lots of women's) has been fraught with highs and lows and I have found it much more difficult than I thought.

I had light bleeding the day after my positive pregnancy test which lasted six days. I was convinced this was game over, but to our relief we saw a heartbeat yesterday at six and a half weeks.

I now understand that although bleeding can be a sign of impending loss, it can also be a normal part of early pregnancy and is a fairly common experience.

I wanted to share this in case it helped anybody going through the same.

I realise I am still very early on and there are lots of hurdles ahead but I am finally allowing myself to feel very cautiously optimistic.

I am constantly ravenous and incredibly tired. I hope this doesn't last long as both my business and body are in danger of ruin!

The best of luck to everyone on here. It's such a difficult journey. Wishing everyone the success they deserve xx

MitoMam · 22/10/2022 16:02

@Farmersweeklyreader that's great news that you could detect one heartbeat though, glad it went well. Maybe that gut mother's instinct is kicking in already!

@Confused19831983 thank you so much for sharing this! It is exactly what I needed to hear. I haven't posted on this page as again it's been very up and down for me too. We got a positive pregnancy test on Wednesday morning and then the bleeding started on Wednesday afternoon and hasn't really stopped. I went in for a blood test on Thursday and they need to repeat them on Monday to see if it is all still ok. The HCG level on Thursday indicated I was still pregnant (309 which when I've googled it seems ok.....) So just need to wait and see what the numbers are on Monday.

Good luck to everyone, it's such an absolute rollercoaster x

Confused19831983 · 22/10/2022 16:14

@MitoMam I am no expert but a HCG of 309 day after test day seems like a good number. Mine was 129 on test day and I was told that was a strong positive. I went in for a blood test because my lines were weak.

I feel sure you'll be OK but I know how distressing it is. And also, how down heartening when you've just had that good news.

I did so much googling and from what I understand so many women bleed in early pregnancy and go on to have healthy babies. Equally, it can be a sign of a loss, but only if it progresses into heavier bleeding with cramps.

I was a mess when it happened to me. Constantly going to the loo to check how much I had bled!

Please try not to worry too much. Chances are you will be fine.

Confused19831983 · 22/10/2022 16:16

@ ps meant to include, from what I understand bleeding is more common with IVF as well. Xx

Raizelrea · 23/10/2022 11:13

@MitoMam @IVFGotThis05 @Farmersweeklyreader @Confused19831983 Thank you so much for your kind words! ❤️ It's sucky though I found the first time it happened harder - not that this is something I want to get used to. I just hope these repeated early losses help us get to the bottom of why things don't seem to be working out for us.

@Farmersweeklyreader That's great news about your scan! I can imagine it's daunting to be released to regular care, at least you'll have the booking appointment to distract you and hopefully your next scan will be here before you know it. So exciting!

@Confused19831983 That does sound like a rollercoaster, so pleased you saw a heartbeat ❤️ Hopefully it will be a smooth journey from now on!

@MitoMam I also think 309 1 day after test day sounds pretty good! I can imagine this weekend is seeming endless while you wait! I've got my fingers crossed for your blood test tomorrow. As long as the bleeding's not getting heavier, it's not necessarily bad news x

MitoMam · 23/10/2022 11:35

Thanks again @Confused19831983 . I think I'm taking the opposite approach to you- trying not to go to the toilet because I'm too scared what I'll see! I've tried not to Google much because you can find the best and worst case scenarios on there. I have been listening to a fertility podcast called BFN (totally recommend as it's UK based and the US ones kind of get on my nerves!) And they have mentioned that bleeding is more common in IVF and they have experienced it.

Hope everyone else is having a nice weekend.

MitoMam · 24/10/2022 19:32

I got my results from the fertility clinic today and it's not good news. My HCG levels have decreased and they have said I'm either having a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy. I need to go in next week for a scan to confirm. I'm just really upset this has all happened 😥After losing a baby and now this, I'm starting to lose hope that it will happen for us. I don't know how people go through so many rounds of IVF, it is so tough.

Confused19831983 · 24/10/2022 20:32

@MitoMam I am so, so sorry to hear this. I can only imagine how you must be feeling. The hope of having had a positive test must have made this so much worse. Please look after yourself. I don't know your circumstances or backstory but feel sure this isn't the end of your journey xx

Confused19831983 · 24/10/2022 20:53

@MitoMam I've just read older messages on this thread and now have a better understanding of your situation. You've been through so much, and I am so sorry this has happened to you. I know this will be no consolation at all, but you have time on your side, and I think this is your first go at IVF, so I feel sure there's still so much hope for you. Xx

Raizelrea · 24/10/2022 20:54

@MitoMam I'm so sorry to hear that, that is so unfair. I hope you are being kind to yourself x
