Hi

I am just wondering if anyone is currently with Newcastle fertility Clinic for IVF? I think I would just like to hear if someone is having a similar experience to me and how you are finding it :)

Fingers crossed for transfer tomorrow 🤞
Embryologist recommended putting both embryos back in if they are still going tomorrow (due to my age 😝) Hopefully this will give us the best chance.

Farmersweeklyreader · 20/09/2022 15:01

@IVFGotThis05 sorry I meant to quote you in my last post.

IVFGotThis05 · 20/09/2022 15:25

Ahh exciting !! I'll keep everything crossed for you ! I hope your keeping yourself occupied ! It's such a stressful time ! 😊@Farmersweeklyreader

Thank you @IVFGotThis05 and wishing you all the best for tomorrow @Farmersweeklyreader 🍀🤞
I have to say I found the EC more painful that I was expecting. I am also now suffering from the most bloated stomach I think I have ever experienced in my life!
They got seven eggs but there was a slight issue with partner's sperm so we are doing ICSI (not sure if that's spelt right, the one where sperm is injected into egg).
I think going forward waiting for the updates will be the worst part 🥴

Farmersweeklyreader · 20/09/2022 17:37

@IVFGotThis05 I have kept myself busy today with work but I haven’t done anything too strenuous. I feel ok about tomorrow. Just another step to climb I suppose 😅

Farmersweeklyreader · 20/09/2022 17:48

@Confused19831983 Thanks 😊
Im sorry you found EC painful 😓 I hope it passes quickly and you start to feel better soon. Make sure you stay hydrated and take things easy.
7 eggs sounds good to me though 🤩 Best of luck for your fertilisation update tomorrow (I’m assuming that’s the same for ICSI ?)
The waiting for a phone call bit is awful but just think that this time tomorrow you will know how many eggs have fertilised. Think positive thoughts 💕

Confused19831983 · 20/09/2022 18:04

Thank you so much @Farmersweeklyreader I will be thinking about you tomorrow and would love to know how you get on.
I am amazed you feel asleep during EC! I did find it really quite painful (to anyone who hasn't had it yet I feel I am the expectation (or a total wimp) as people normally say it's not that bad). Tbh I am cautiously made up with seven eggs, so was worth it. I wasn't sure if I would even get three.
And yes it is the same as IVF as far as I gather. They inject the sperm into the eggs and then wait to see if they fertilise and develop. I agree, I feel waiting for these updates will be the worst 🥴
Thinking lots of positive thoughts for us both and all the luck in the world again for tomoz 😊🍀🤞

Farmersweeklyreader · 20/09/2022 18:42

@Confused19831983 I will let you know how I get on.
I am kinda glad I fell asleep but have the fear a little bit wondering how I got from the theatre back to the little ward bit? 🤣
I remember speaking to the embryologist through the microphone thing to confirm my name & d.o.b then I lay down on the bed and the nurses were chatting to me for a bit. Then the nurse said not to worry if the room started spinning, it was spinning 😵‍💫 next thing I know I’m back on the ward and the nurse that was looking after me was telling me my husband was here.
Hope they didn’t have to carry me back to the ward 🤣
Im glad you are feeling positive about your egg numbers, I felt quite elated at my 5! It was better than I expected and so glad we had a couple fertilised as well. Positive thoughts are getting me through.

Confused19831983 · 20/09/2022 19:10

Ha ha don't worry. They put a bed next to the one I was on in the theatre and helped me kind of roll onto it. Then they wheeled me back to the ward. I wouldn't have been able to walk at that stage! So have no fear, no one will have carried you 😂 I found speaking through that microphone a little surreal tbh.
It's great you don't remember and were asleep throughout it. I wish I had been.
If you don't mind me asking, are you quiet small? I wonder if that makes a difference re. the meds.
I was fully conscious throughout and taking massive gulps of gas and air.
I don't want to jinx anything but feeling fairly positive too 🤞🤞🤞🥚🥚🥚

Farmersweeklyreader · 20/09/2022 19:52

@Confused19831983 well that’s reassuring 😅 hopefully they just had to roll me over. I was all tucked up when I woke up so the nurses were obviously taking good care of me 😇
I screwed up the talking in the microphone by trying to type my d.o.b in to the keypad below it 🙈 the nurse was like noooooo
They gave me a drug in the cannula thing before I went in theatre, maybe cos I hadn’t opted to take the tablet u can take the night before and on the morning of EC. Did you take that drug ? I didn’t feel fully in charge of myself before I even lay on the bed in theatre 🤣
Now you come to mention it, I am 5’2” and weigh 9 stone. Maybe too many drugs were administered (thankfully on this occasion!) 🤣

Confused19831983 · 20/09/2022 20:02

Ha, ha, sounds like you had a much better experience than me! I didn't sleep at all and afterwards felt so sick they had to put one of those cardboard dishes next to me. I did take the lorazepam the night before and morning of, yes, but nurse told me she gave me the max dose of everything else. Yeah, you are a little smaller than I am, so maybe that's why. Glad I have reassured you. I think all sorts goes on in that theatre. My friend who had IVF was apparently trying to get off the bed in the middle of the EC and they had to restrain her. She has no memory of it! I am glad I took the lorazepam as it massively calmed me down beforehand. My partner said I was so chilled out he found it unnerving 😂

Farmersweeklyreader · 21/09/2022 17:40

Hello ladies, I have my 2 embryos on board. Transfer went ok, felt not very intrusive at all. It was all over quickly. Feeling happy we got this far.
Any updates @Confused19831983 ? I hope you got positive news today

Confused19831983 · 21/09/2022 19:41

@Farmersweeklyreader Ah, am so happy it went ok. I was thinking about you today.
Fingers crossed it's good news for you in a week or so's time.
It's reassuring to hear you didn't find transfer too invasive, so thank you for that.
Got the call this morn and six of my seven eggs were mature, and four have fertilised normally.
Like you, glad to have got this far after initial poor prognosis.
Are you on day five today? Sorry, wasn't sure exactly when you had your EC.
Great that both survived and are safely inside you. Really hope they stick! 🤞🍀🤞🍀🤞🍀

Farmersweeklyreader · 21/09/2022 21:41

@Confused19831983 That is a great result for you, great news 🤩
I had my egg collection on Friday.
Willing your embryos to grow, let us know how they got on 🤞

Confused19831983 · 21/09/2022 21:46

@Farmersweeklyreader Ah, thank you. I will keep you updated 😊

MitoMam · 26/09/2022 13:37

@Farmersweeklyreader how are your 2 embryos getting on? When is your TWW up?

@Confused19831983 have you had your embryo transfer yet?

We've finally had some good news and my egg donor is on her stimulating drugs now! Hoping for egg collection early next week but obviously need to see how she reacts to these drugs.

Confused19831983 · 26/09/2022 14:21

@MitoMam Excellent news re. your donor. Fingers crossed she produces lots of follicles and eggs and you end up with some top quality embryos 🤞🤞🤞🍀🍀🍀

I have one good quality embryo in the oven and hoping for the best. They had thought one might be suitable for freezing but alas it didn't quite make it (got the call this morn).

@Farmersweeklyreader hope you are getting on OK. I think this final bit is the hardest part!

Farmersweeklyreader · 26/09/2022 14:57

@MitoMam that is great news! I hope your donor gets on better this time. Fingers crossed for you both. I hope my embryos are hanging in there. This bit is definitely the worst bit. Friday is test day 😬

@Confused19831983 ahh this bit is the worst! I have been feeling a bit down, like there is a dark cloud hanging over me. I’m putting this down to the progesterone cos I definitely didn’t feel like this before I started taking it. When is your test day?

Confused19831983 · 26/09/2022 18:07

@Farmersweeklyreader Sorry to hear you are feeling down. I think it's a normal reaction to everything we've been through, plus the progesterone. Hopefully you will feel better soon. It's the not knowing which kills you. My test day is next Tuesday. I am telling self, if it's negative, I am going to enjoy the largest glass (or bottle) of red wine and reflect on what has truly been a crazy journey. When do you test? And do you think you will make it to test day before testing?

Farmersweeklyreader · 26/09/2022 18:31

@Confused19831983 Friday is test day and I’m going to do my best not to test before then. I would rather just know for sure. I know some people test everyday after embryo transfer but I think that won’t do me any good at all.
I don’t drink so wine won’t help me if it’s negative 🤣 We have both been avoiding sugar for the past 3 months so may treat ourselves to a slice of cake. A really big slice of cake.

Confused19831983 · 26/09/2022 18:38

I think it will be nice to have some autonomy back re. what we eat, what we drink, how much we exercise (I normally go swimming loads but only been once in past six weeks) - and to get off the drugs as well. Cake sounds lovely! I feel absolutely knackered even though I must have had seven hours sleep last night. I reckon it must be the progesterone. I def think you have right idea re. testing. I am not tempted atm though might be in a few days. Ah, not long to go for you now. Keeping everything crossed for you. Really hope you get a positive 🤞🍀

Farmersweeklyreader · 26/09/2022 19:28

@Confused19831983 I have been feeling knackered too, it must be the progesterone. Also short tempered 😬 This has been the worst drug for me I think. I will be glad to see the back of it. I’m also glad to be rid of needles and the whole regime that comes with it.
Thanks, keeping all my fingers and toes crossed but also trying to not think about it too much so that the week goes by quickly ha!
I hope the week goes by quickly for you too, I hope for good news for you too. This waiting is like mental torture 😅😅😅

Confused19831983 · 27/09/2022 06:23

@Farmersweeklyreader Glad it's not just me re. feeling tired 🥱 I am struggling to work and my job is pretty much office based (sat at a computer). Don't know how I would cope with a physical one like yours!
I am trying hard not to get my hopes up too much but it's so difficult when you've gone through what is such an all consuming process and invested this much.
I would also say my symptoms at this stage are worse than at any other.
A tough time for us both but yes, as always, wishing us lots of luck 🍀 🤞

IVFGotThis05 · 27/09/2022 09:15

I don't have much input at the minute as I'm just down reg'n buuut..

I am eagerly awaiting your test days with you 🙏🍀 ! although yous are having a tough time with progesterone ( I hated that part too) .. I do hope you have to take it until 12 weeks!! 🙃🙏

I will join yous with cake and wine too, as I like both 😅

@Farmersweeklyreader @Confused19831983 have either of you told friends/family about your transfer and the test date? What have you been doing to keep busy the past week?

Not sure if anyone was taking Progynova (estrogen tablets to thicken up my womb lining) but I've been feeling like crap the past few days. Just feeling really down and cba with work today at all. Did anyone else have this? Suppose when you are on and off loads of drugs you don't know what is causing the issues!
