@SamTTC off drugs! Good for you!

Today wasn't a blood test it was just a home pregnancy test. To be honest the line concerned me slightly as it's 13dp5dt and the control line is far darker and thicker than the positive line, though the positive line is very visible. It's a different brand to my previous tests which looked darker. I'm probably just being silly. Anyway nobody answering the phone at my clinic I presume because of the Bank Holiday so it's all a bit underwhelming today.

SamTTC · 02/05/2022 11:28

@Somatronic ah okay I see. How annoying that the bank holiday gets in the way, let us know tomorrow what they say. I wouldn’t think you should be too worried just based on the line, but of course that is easier said than done!

AliceAbsolum · 02/05/2022 14:10

@Somatronic was it a frer? Upload a picture if you want, I love helping with line eyes 🙄

Somatronic · 02/05/2022 15:33

Thanks @SamTTC I appreciate your kindness.

@AliceAbsolum no it wasn't a FRER it was some type of test I'd never seen before! I finally managed to buy more FRERs and I took one just now with the morning urine I've been travelling with all day (what the fuck is my life nowadays) and the line looks great. I think I just had a major wobble there for no reason. I feel foolish but also majorly relieved. Thanks for the support!

AliceAbsolum · 02/05/2022 15:58

@somatronic Ah good old frers! Excellent. Glad you were reassured. I've also carted my fair share of my own wee around recently 😅 you're not alone.

Steph2345 · 03/05/2022 10:19

@Somatronic I’ve had exactly the same thing today I’ve had a more faint line than my test last week and have lost my head a little. I’ve called my clinic and hoping they call me back. DH says not to worry but I can’t help it. I tested during the day last week and hadn’t drunk barely anything but did a morning test today and drank a lot last night and through the night too so hopefully it’s just more diluted (or just a stupid blip that’s got me worrying for no reason) 🤞

Somatronic · 03/05/2022 10:28

@Steph2345 it's awful isn't it! I've decided to stop testing because only bad things come from it! I hope you hear back soon from your clinic and that they can reassure you.

Your DH is probably right, but mine has been telling me not to worry since we started this process but it doesn't stop me worrying for 1 second!

Steph2345 · 03/05/2022 10:35

@Somatronic I’m never testing again! I already have my first scan booked in for this Thursday so I expect they will just say to wait until then. I don’t feel any different so I’m hoping it was a one off and I’ll just have to wait just a few more days and then hopefully I’ll see some great news! I’m kicking myself for doing it this morning

Somatronic · 03/05/2022 11:38

@Steph2345 I spoke to several friends who have kids and they all agreed that I was worrying over nothing when it happened to me, so hopefully that'll be the case with you. Thursday isn't too far away at least, if it does end up with you having to wait til then for your answer.

My scan is booked for the 26th May. For some reason I thought it would be next week! I'm delusional!

Yoga817 · 03/05/2022 12:02

Hi everyone. OTD is creeping up! Thursday. Thinking of testing one day early as my work have asked me to travel overseas on 23rd May, and so I may need to tell them if it's positive as I don't want to travel

So nervous! Pls keep fingers crossed for me. Have had quite a few symptoms early on; diarrhoea at 3DP5DT, dry mouth and food aversions. Now I am having headaches, vivid dreams, hot flushes, chills and feeling exhausted. I'm so hoping for good news as I honestly found the whole experience really traumatic.... :-(

Daisychain93x · 03/05/2022 12:27

@yoga Thursday is OTD day for me as well. Very anxious about it too! Just wondering how much of a difference it makes testing a day or two early?!

Yoga817 · 03/05/2022 12:38

@Daisychain93x I think it should be ok to test one day early. Can always repeat test Thursday if need be...

Daisychain93x · 03/05/2022 12:39

@yoga thanks that’s true. All the best for you!

ks94 · 03/05/2022 14:09

So my test was negative on Monday, I have spoken with the hospital I’m going to get a appointment within 4 weeks they said I got one frozen there going to use that next but under a natural cycle,

I still have another full cycle to use too!

absolutely gutted but still holding on to hope!
hope everyone’s okay ❤️

Thirdtimesacharm1 · 03/05/2022 14:42

Just got my day four update. It turns out 14 eggs were fertilised not 13 and ten are going strong with the other four slightly behind. Scheduled for transfer tomorrow of two embryos 🤞🤞

SamTTC · 03/05/2022 15:29

@ks94 we're very much in the same boat! one embryo left from this collection, and I will go for a natural cycle too. Did your clinic say anything about whether doing a natural cycle straight after a medicated cycle? I am wondering if the hormone levels will bounce directly back to normal after having been controlled artificially, but I can't find any information about it.

Impatiently waiting for AF...it's been a day and a half what is she waiting for 😂
Also interesting sidenote: I had my hormone levels measured over the course of this cycle because I was part of a study, and I can see the results- they were all fine up until my test day blood draw, where it looks like both my estrogen and progesterone levels were actually above the recommended levels. Will try to ask my clinic about it, but I doubt I'll get a straight answer. They are very evasive about everything.

@Daisychain93x @Yoga817 I can't tell you what to do, but having tried both testing early and not testing early (usually AF arriving before test day clued me in), I prefer testing early. I like having a few days of letting reality settle in so that, when the official answer comes, I'm already clear-headed about my next steps. But everyone is different, so just do what will give you the most peace of mind under the circumstances.

Daisychain93x · 03/05/2022 18:18

@ks94 Sorry to hear your test was negative. I hope you are coping with it as well as you can.

@SamTTC Thanks for your message it is very much appreciated! In response To your message about having a Natural cycle straight after a medicated cycle, my consultant was okay with this for me, however they just couldn’t fit me in!

PMAmostofthetime · 03/05/2022 19:33

@ks94 @SamTTC I have my follow up 24th June after my failed cycle I have no Frosties though :( so another full round for me.
The waiting is awful bit after the letter came I have relaxed a little.

@Daisychain93x @Yoga817 I tested early as AF came and I had to check it wasn't other bleeding but even though it was negative I still held out hoot for OTD so I'll never test early again but I did have to test 6 days early so you will only be waiting a day.
X

Yoga817 · 04/05/2022 06:48

Morning everyone. We did a test this morning and it was negative. We're very sad. I strongly feel they haven't checked my lining properly or my progesterone levels. I think we will look at changing clinics.. It seems my friends in the U.S have so many blood tests and scans throughout the process, but my clinic just doesn't do any of this. At my age (40) I really don't have time to waste and need all of these things to be checked.

LT103 · 04/05/2022 08:23

@ks94 @Yoga817 so sorry for the negative tests. This is such a frustrating journey. @Yoga817 def speak to them with your concerns!

LT103 · 04/05/2022 08:24

i had my planning call on Monday for my FET and I was expecting it to go ahead next cycle but nope I’m starting this Monday coming!!!! It’s a natural cycle so I’m in for bloods every 48hrs so they can plan when to do the transfer. I’m excited but now feel totally unprepared!!! 😬

TommieNC · 04/05/2022 09:05

This isn’t IVF/TTC/pregnancy related.
I am a monster, for the 2nd year in a row I forgot to wish my husband happy birthday, until I was in the car driving to work at 7:30am.

What is wrong with me. I bought one of his gifts two weeks ago and the other one we all made a special trip into the city on Sunday to buy his other gift.

I now know why he was so grumpy when I left this morning (which he has every right to be). Wondering if I can salvage the day, any ideas?

I already have a couple of gifts and always buy him a cake on my way home from work.

Somatronic · 04/05/2022 10:16

You're not a monster @TommieNC! You just forgot it first thing this morning. It sounds as though you've already done plenty for his birthday and that this was just a tiny mistake - it's unfortunate that you've done it two years in a row. Maybe set a reminder on your phone for next year 😅

He's an adult, I'm sure he'll get over it pretty quickly!

@LT103 how exciting! I'm sure you're prepared enough!

@Yoga817 I'm so sorry that it didn't work out for you this time. You definitely should raise this issues with your clinic, or shop around if you feel that they are missing things. Thinking of you and @ks94 xx

SamTTC · 04/05/2022 10:40

Aww @TommieNC I always have so many alarms set to remind me to wish people happy birthday because I remember NOTHING in the morning even though I went to sleep thinking about it!
My best suggestion would be to surprise him with a nice meal out or takeaway that he likes, if that is possible for you? And maybe if he's very upset, talk to him about what he would like to do for his birthday in future, like maybe you can take a short trip or go to the cinema, have some kind of birthday ritual in place to make sure you align your expectations for each other. If he grew up with birthdays being more of an event, maybe he would appreciate having the option of his birthday still being ritualised in some way, even if it's something as 'small' as going to his favourite restaurant every year, or inviting his friends/family over for a meal.

@Yoga817 I'm so sorry. I understand the frustration of not feeling like they've done enough testing, and I also compare to what they do in the US. I just can't make the maths work in my head, like surely it will save the system time and money to run a few extra routine tests or do more thorough checkups of things they know matter (like progesterone levels in the luteal phase) rather than rush patients through and risk more unsuccessful retrievals and transfers.
Speak to the new clinic about your concerns and frustrations up front and try to get an idea of whether they are actually going to help you achieve your goal, or just want to rush you through the standard rounds.

SamTTC · 04/05/2022 10:56

@LT103 that is so exciting that you can start this cycle!! What a nice surprise. (And there are so few of them in this IVF world.) Will they really monitor you every 48 hours?? That is actually quite nice. I think my natural cycle will just be a scan on day 3, day 9-10 and then maybe once more before trigger.

Important life update: AF has arrived 🤗just over 48 hours after stopping the meds! This is a huge relief, as I've been stressing over the calendar, wanting to make sure I can get in my last transfer + a new retrieval if needed before the clinic's summer holidays. It feels good to go straight into a new cycle after a failed round. @LT103 we'll be cycle buddies this time :)
