@AliceAbsolum I haven't heard from the Covid midwife. The midwife line is only answered between 9 and 10, so I'll give them a call tomorrow. I don't get sick pay so I've been trying to carry on working but I've booked tomorrow off on leave as I'm so exhausted.

@SamTTC Drug free sounds nice! Is the ovidrel to suppress the follicle?

SamTTC · 12/05/2022 13:50

@ginandtonicformeplease aw poor you that sounds tough! exhaustion is a good sign though right?

the ovidrel is to ensure that ovulation happens, in terms of timing the transfer. Basically I’ve realised that a natural ivf cycle is just like an IUI except they put in the blastocyst a week after they’d put in the sperm. I’m not sure it’s better for me than the medicated or not - how would I know? But I am happy that I’m trying it out, especially since it’s my last blast and I expect I’ll go on to need another retrieval, so I think it’s also just to give myself a physical/mental break before I have to do the hard part all over again.

I am trying very hard to keep a spark of optimism that this is ever going to work for me.

ginandtonicformeplease · 12/05/2022 18:43

@SamTTC exhaustion is a symptom of pregnancy and of Covid - that might explain why I'm exhausted!

LT103 · 12/05/2022 19:52

@Thirdtimesacharm1 congratulations!!!! Lovely positive line there!!!

@ginandtonicformeplease ugh covid is a nightmare!!! Hope you’re doing ok!!

we had my grans funeral on Tuesday and just found out one of my cousins tested positive that night so 🤞🤞 i don’t get it and end up having to cancel my transfer!!

LT103 · 12/05/2022 19:54

@SamTTC my clinic is just doing bloods every 48hrs to pick up ovulation. So far I’m cd14 and nothing 🤦🏻‍♀️ Have bloods again tomorrow and Monday so hoping for something!

SamTTC · 12/05/2022 21:05

@LT103 I’m so sorry to hear about your nan! And I really hope you didn’t catch covid. It isn’t as rapidly spread now as far as I’m aware so hopefully you’re fine.

How do blood tests pick up ovulation? My clinic only does scans to see how big the lead follicle is getting.
you are not having the trigger shot then I’m guessing? It’s interesting how differently clinics do it. How long is your cycle? I think ovulation can only be expected on cd14 if it is exactly 28 days, and even then, it’s not exactly the same every month I don’t think.
Will there be a point where they say it’s too late to transfer? I’m worried that’ll happen to me, or rather that they won’t care if my ovulation comes too late, so that my luteal phase will be too short.
my next scan is on cd12, I think because my cycle is only 27 days long they’re worried they’ll miss my ovulation, but honestly I don’t see how, if it’s only 10mm today. It’ll be like 14mm on Sunday. I wonder if it matters exactly when they trigger since this follicle won’t ‘count’ anywhere, so surely if they bring on ovulation before the egg inside is mature, it won’t make a difference, as the blastocyst is already formed in vitro? So many questions… so few actual answers…

LT103 · 12/05/2022 22:17

@SamTTC i think they’re testing for LH similar to the urine opk sticks. Once they know roughly when I’ll ovulate they’ll give me date for transfer. Obviously if I don’t ovulate they’ll cancel and go again next month.

I’ve tracked my cycle last 2 years through all this and I’m sure I always ovulate and most times it’s between day 14 and 19 so hoping this isn’t the month it all goes wrong haha

dont think I get a scan at all so no check of lining which is odd. The only medication I get is an hcg injection (ovitrelle) on the day of transfer to help increase natural production of progesterone.

i guess time will tell how well it works.

LT103 · 13/05/2022 10:08

@SamTTC so I asked today. They test of estradiol and LH. So looking for estradiol to go up then fall back down and lh to start to rise.

so far I have a rise in estradiol but no drop or rise in lh so will see what todays shows. Have appt booked Monday and Wednesday in case need them but I’m already all bruised!!!

TommieNC · 13/05/2022 12:30

How is everyone doing?

Today is my birthday and I'm 9 weeks. We've booked a private scan for tomorrow, but I'm already getting nervous. I get a lot of anxiety before scans. I had my booking in appt yesterday with the midwives.

AliceAbsolum · 13/05/2022 16:24

@TommieNC I had my booking appointment and 9 week scan today. We saw its little legs wiggling about! Was amazing. The relief now is lovely.

I'm under consultant care with extra scans throughout. Because it's ivf. Never heard of that before?

@Herewegoagain881 How you doing? Xx

AliceAbsolum · 13/05/2022 16:24

Happy Birthday! Xx

Steph2345 · 13/05/2022 16:44

Happy birthday @TommieNC ! I hope tomorrow brings you the best birthday present!! I’m also 9 weeks today and had my booking appointment yesterday too.
@AliceAbsolum i have heard that IVF treatment puts you under consultant care however nothing was mentioned to me yesterday so perhaps it’s different requirements in different NHS areas.
I do have to see a consultant though for the OHSS in a few weeks and possibly go back on clexane injections but I’m hoping it’ll just be for a little bit.
at least you’ll get the extra scans 🙂

@LT103 and @SamTTC i hope you’re both doing ok this cycle. I have everything crossed for you both! I’d find the hoping to get the right day bit really tough so you’re both amazing for doing natural cycles.

@Thirdtimesacharm1 congratulations! Those lines look great

Thirdtimesacharm1 · 13/05/2022 16:49

@Steph2345 line progression up to today 9dp5dt. OTD is Monday with beta hcg bloods on Tuesday

Herewegoagain881 · 13/05/2022 17:00

@AliceAbsolum looks like my Mumsnet notifications have been hitting my junk folder but was popping on here today to give an update. Great news about your scan!

We had a confirmed missed miscarriage last Friday and honestly it was just a relief as I knew it was going to end and was so fed up with all the meds. Today I went in for medication to try and bring on the bleeding but it's not worked yet, I really hope it works but apparently it doesn't for 1/3 of people...so I may need to go in again Monday for another dose.. I'm feeling a little worried the meds won't work and I'll end up needing an erpc.. I really don't want an erpc as I had an awful experience last miscarriage with that procedure, they perforated my uterus and I was internally bleeding all day till they realised🤦🏻‍♀️

AliceAbsolum · 13/05/2022 17:04

@Herewegoagain881 I'm really sorry to hear that. I hear you that at least it's an end to the uncertainty. You've been through a lot. To say the least.
I really hope the meds work and this process goes as smoothly as it can for you.
Be kind to yourself. I'll be thinking of you x

LT103 · 13/05/2022 18:28

@Herewegoagain881 in so sorry to hear your news. Take care of yourself and I hope everything goes as it should with the medication. Sending you big hugs!!

@TommieNC happy birthday and good luck for tomorrow!!

@AliceAbsolum @Steph2345 i can’t believe you’re at 9 week already!! Glad things are going well. @Steph2345 ita crazy that the OHSS still hasn’t settled. Glad you’re feeling better from it though!

Nutrinerd · 13/05/2022 18:37

@TommieNC Happy Birthday and all the best for your scan tomorrow!

@AliceAbsolum Glad the 9 week scan went well! My next scan isn’t until 12 weeks, trying not to get anxious in the gap.

@Herewegoagain881 Sorry to hear your news. I hope the medications work for you and that things go more smoothly than last time, that sounds like a truly awful experience and I’m sorry you had to go through that x

Herewegoagain881 · 13/05/2022 18:59

Thanks @AliceAbsolum @LT103 @Nutrinerd Finally started bleeding albeit lightly so far, so now just hoping everything clears. Wishing you all the very best in your journeys xxx

SamTTC · 13/05/2022 19:17

@Herewegoagain881 I am so, so sorry that you are having to go through this again. I really admire your ability to look ahead and be positive about the fact that at least you will soon be able to move forward. I am happy to hear you have started bleeding - well, not happy! but hopefully it will go better than last time. Again I am so sorry you have to go through this.

Steph2345 · 13/05/2022 21:17

@Herewegoagain881 im so sorry you’re going through this! It has been a horrendous time for you and I so hope you are ok. My thoughts are with you xx

ginandtonicformeplease · 13/05/2022 22:53

@Herewegoagain881 I'm sorry you're going through that: I know how awful the waiting for a MMC to start bleeding is. Hopefully it will be over soon

@AliceAbsolum glad the scan went well and @TommieNC I hope yours goes well tomorrow. @Nutrinerd I'm also waiting for my 12 week one and it seems so far away! It's not booked yet though as I haven't had my booking in appointment yet - it's scheduled for Tuesday but my Covid test is still a very strong positive so I'm not sure if I'll be able to go. Still haven't heard from the Covid midwife Sad

SamTTC · 15/05/2022 12:50

am I correct in assuming a lot of those still ttc went to newer threads? This one had so much luck there are not a lot of us left :)

I had my scan today and my follicle was 17mm, but my lining was only 5mm. I’ve never had lining issues before. I really blame the hormone cycle. Anyway I’m having a scan tomorrow to give the lining a chance to catch up, with the caveat that ovulation may have occurred meaning my cycle will be postponed. Meaning I won’t have time for another collection before the clinic summer break which is what I was so worried about. I am just…not feeling super great to be honest.

HJen22 · 15/05/2022 14:05

@SamTTC I'm so sorry to hear you're having a tough time. I really hope your lining is thicker tomorrow and can still go ahead 🤞🏻 sorry I have been a little quiet, cycle wise behind everyone on this thread now but have been dipping on to read the updates, congrats to everyone with BFNs. And so sorry to those whose cycles sadly didn't work this time. I'm on a May/June thread join us over there ❤️

SamTTC · 15/05/2022 15:20

Thanks @HJen22 i might do that. Or the June/July when it pops up.
the lining growing 2mm in one day + the follicle not rupturing is a stretch so I’m not holding much hope.

honestly it never even occurred to me that my lining would be the issue. Ovulating too early sure, that’s happened before, but the one thing I have been able to count on through all of my cycles so far - this is my 10th including the two iuis with early ovulation - my lining has been the one consistently good element.
i know planning ahead when ttc is near impossible, but I had so counted on being able to have a retrieval before the clinic holidays. Without it, I won’t have a retrieval until my cycle towards the end of August, which just so happens to be the cycle I was planning to skip (assuming it would be a FET) because I’m in film and I have a project for two weeks during that time frame in another part of the country. But i am nearing the infamous 35 and really feeling like I need a retrieval as soon as possible, seeing as it’s already hard to get pregnant for me now, and I just…I’m really starting to feel like this just isn’t going to work and I’m devastated.

Steph2345 · 15/05/2022 16:54

@SamTTC try not to be disheartened. I hope you have an absolute miracle tomorrow!
would you consider changing clinic so you could have a retrieval sooner than August? I’m thinking of you and hope you have some better news soon xx

@HJen22 nice to hear from you! I hope you’re next cycle goes well. Keep us up to date here too xx
