I first saw mine at 26 weeks. But won't see her again until 36 weeks. I see the midwife every 3 weeks ish at the moment.

Have you ladies been told that you will induced before 40 weeks?

Autumn245 · 11/10/2022 10:19

I only saw a consultant after my 12 week scan and was told wouldn't see her again until 36 weeks. Baby is measuring large 90th centile and I have alot of amniotic fluid so I will be seeing consultant again in 2 weeks time after my next scan. Was tested for gestational diabetes last week but results came back as normal. Originally i was told i can be induced from 39 weeks if I want, but to be honest I don't see me going past 37-38 weeks if the fluid continues to increase!

I saw my consultant at 14, 30 and 32 weeks, with another appointment arranged for 36 weeks when they'll book in the section date. I'm under consultant care due to extra risk factors not just IVF though so I don't know if that makes a difference.

PMAmostofthetime · 11/10/2022 23:29

Thanks for all your replies ladies, I have a large fibroid and have had 2 bleeds and IVF in my area is consultant led as they don't allow you past 39 weeks so they induce at 38.5 ( to give a few days for it to work).

@Somatronic sounds like your really being looked after.

@Steph2345 how far along are you now? Hope your well. I'm ok thanks some weird pains in my stomach and lady bits this evening but I have a telephone appointment with the midwife tomorrow.

@AliceAbsolum how many scans have you had? Hope all is ok?

@Autumn245 Hope you are ok, that sounds uncomfortable.

@ginandtonicformeplease I have other risks too, so that's very helpful thank you.

LT103 · 12/10/2022 07:05

For all those who got pregnant when did you contact your gp? I thought I was to leave it until I was discharged but now heard stories of people who struggled to get a date for their 12 week scan because they called late. I’m 6+2 just now

ginandtonicformeplease · 12/10/2022 10:15

@LT103 It's area dependent I think - here you have to self-refer directly to the midwife rather than go through the GP. I contacted the midwife at about week 9 I think. For a previous pregnancy I left it later, and then everything was rushed as Xmas was in the way Blush Remember that the 12 week scan could actually be any time until 13+6, so they have plenty of time to get you in.

Autumn245 · 12/10/2022 12:18

@LT103 after my 7 week scan my fertility clinic said they would get in touch with my doctors to let them know I was pregnant and that docs would then contact a midwife and arrange scan etc. I hadn't heard anything by 10 weeks so phoned docs to be told that I was given the wrong info from fertility clinic and I had to contact a midwife myself. Managed to get a booking appointment over the phone and then 12 week scan booked in for 12+5. Definitely give your doctor a call and let them know to get the ball rolling.

@ginandtonicformeplease @Autumn245 thanks!!

PMAmostofthetime · 12/10/2022 20:31

@LT103 i had my scan with the clinic at 8+6 and contacted them that day- my scan was when I was exactly 13 weeks pregnant x

AliceAbsolum · 14/10/2022 16:58

@PMAmostofthetime Induce at 38+5! Terrifying how different trusts do different things.
I've been reading about induction and I'm not exactly convinced that it will be a good idea. I'm not great when I'm stuck somewhere like claustrophobic type thing. And being induced you need continuous monitoring, over 70% of ladies with the drip have an epidural, so you're just stuck on a bed for days aren't you. With the greater risk of intervention I'm tempted to go for an elective section. I don't want too! But I don't feel like I've got many choices.
How's everyone else feeling about birth choices?

PMAmostofthetime · 14/10/2022 17:26

@AliceAbsolum as my induction is also for my pinhole cervix to see if I will dilate- they will induce me with the Balloon procedure. They put it in monitor for an hour and then you can go home.

If I don't dilate I will have to have a c-section, which l really don't want.
Lots of friends and family have been induced and none of them have had an epidural- they also wish they didn't have to be induced though.

AliceAbsolum · 14/10/2022 17:45

I don't mind the pesseries and breaking waters really it's the drip that scares me.

ginandtonicformeplease · 17/10/2022 13:02

I'm puzzled by the differences between trusts: I had DD at 39+5 via elective CS. It was very much a case of leave it as late as possible. I'm now at a different trust, and I've been told this time it'll be 'sometime' after 39weeks - it's a much smaller hospital and elective CS are only performed on two days of the week, so that's what decides the date Hmm Maybe it's different when having the baby naturally?

Steph2345 · 17/10/2022 17:58

@ginandtonicformeplease i haven’t had my birthing plan session yet but as far as we have been told we are having a “normal” pregnancy and could in theory have a home birth if we wanted. I don’t, but it’s an option for us. We are hoping to use a birthing centre which is attached to the hospital so close if there are any issues. No discussion of inducing early or anything

PMAmostofthetime · 17/10/2022 23:12

@Steph2345
I'm not allowed to the birthing centres in our area they have a policy that no first time mothers allowed. I think me being induced early is down to the large fibroid rather than it being IVF. How ever all IVF pregnancies in my trust are consultant led- the reason for this on the leaflet was something like as most IVF parents are very anxious after their fertility journey and we at ( name of trust) believe it's better to offer you regular appointments than for you to access emergency care more than needed.

How are you feeling? X

PMAmostofthetime · 17/10/2022 23:14

Tbh though I've not even met my midwife yet! 16 weeks and had lots of different ones but never the same one twice 🙈 and never my named one.
X

LT103 · 17/10/2022 23:50

Just thought I’d let you know. We had our 7 week scan today. Baby is measuring 7+1 and could see heartbeat and limb buds. I couldn’t stop crying. Need to call gp tomorrow to sort out booking in with midwife. It suddenly all feels very real. Just hoping everything stays ok 🤞

PMAmostofthetime · 18/10/2022 07:53

@LT103 amazing news x

AliceAbsolum · 18/10/2022 20:06

@LT103 Yay! Wonderful news.

My consultant told me that the placenta doesn't work as well after 40 weeks that's why they induce at 39. But I think the evidence is patchy.
I'd absolutely love to go into labour naturally. But who knows.
32 weeks on Thursday!

PMAmostofthetime · 27/10/2022 08:32

@AliceAbsolum that seems to have gone so quickly, I expect it's dragged for you though I'm 17 weeks and willing the weeks away.

Have you decided in names yet? Do you have everything?

I'm excited for you, I hope the next 6-7 weeks go smoothly.

X

AliceAbsolum · 27/10/2022 08:43

Keep willing they will go eventually. Not long until your 20 week scan. You're going to find out what you're having?

Yep I think we have got everything now and I've still not had my baby shower. Maybe people will buy things for me 😅

We have decided on her name but are telling no one. As so many people know about ivf and we vlogged it! We like having this for ourselves.

I went in for reduced movements again yesterday. Nhs is amazing, I can be on a monitor within 10 mins of picking up the phone. So lucky.
She's fine, of course.

Did I say I've decided to decline an induction?

PMAmostofthetime · 27/10/2022 22:23

@AliceAbsolum
Amazing that your so prepared and lovely that you have decided on a name.
Right now we are not finding out, but I'm so indecisive it's unreal 🙈, have you found that?

A friend made a wish list for me of things we would need a month maybe like , 2 months down the line and shared it with my friends.

So it has

Next size nappies and wipes
Baby bath and shampoo
Next size vests and baby grows
Muslim cloths.
Bigger bobs and socks ( she said I'll need loads)
Next size teats for bottles ( I'm expressing if baby takes to breast feeding so OH can feed too.)
Different tog sleeping bags
Sun hats
Swimming costume/shorts
Dummies
Vouchers for local supermarkets to buy baby clothes/ supplies
Vouchers for OH and me to order takeaway food.
Photo shoot voucher ( joint gift)
That's some of the things honestly the list is huge but mostly things that are going to get used up or need replacing.
Teething powders
Calpol

No you didn't say? What did they say when you declined? It's good to know there are options x

Coops0406 · 28/10/2022 07:45

Just popped on here after ages, I think I finally got an email update and can't believe you're 32 weeks @AliceAbsolum ...where has the time gone! And you're having a girl 💕 amazing news! And you have a name!! We have a boy and girl's name picked from ages ago too although OH wants the surprise at birth! 😩
The only thing we have is a pram from fb marketplace! We live quite rural and it will get completely messed up so we wanted something with big back wheels that was good quality but not expensive! The bargains you can get on there! And I have a lot of people around me who want to hand everything down which is great, although I still want to have that experience of having a few new things of our own. When did you start getting your bits and bobs? I keep wondering if I'm too early to start buying stuff!

@PMAmostofthetime I'm keeping up with your journey elsewhere 🥰

@LT103 great news! Really pleased you got to see the heartbeat. Not sure what it's like where you are but I rang the GP and they said where I live I have to search online for antenatal here and do a self referral! Then they will get in touch! But I had to chase a lot as ivf clinic had mentioned they may want me to continue the blood thinners...I got so much contradictory info! Was told to stop them then at my appointment at 12w4d (they actually said I was 12w6d and moved my due date forward) they put me back on them 🤦🏾‍♀️

@Steph2345 I got asked what we wanted when going through all the normal boring questions at 12 week booking in appointment...they gave us the normal options of birthing centre, delivery suite and home birth so gone for the birthing centre...am pretty sure I'll end up in delivery suite and have a feeling possibly end up with a c-section!

@ginandtonicformeplease they haven't mentioned anything about induction to me, only that they won't let me go past my due date as something to do with ivf and placenta starting to deteriorate from 40 weeks whereas with normal pregnancy that starts about 42 weeks 🤷🏾‍♀️ it's a minefield and so different at different places!

We are now 15w1d along 🥰 Had a little sunny break to lanzarote last week which was amazing and definitely popped out there! Although I'm thinking that was bloating and fluid retention as only little again now. So glad to be off most of the meds, although on aspirin and blood thinning injections for the timebeing, which are much more painful than the ones I had from the ivf clinic! Also had covid a few weeks ago and still got a cold lingering on!! We had a private scan at 10 weeks which was the first time hearing the heartbeat and saw baby rolling over and moving, then the nhs scan was fab, the lady was lovely, she was so reassuring before the scan then let us watch baby for about 10 mins before she started measuring... got some fab pics. Didn't realise we had to pay for scan pics at the hospital scans! £5 each! We paid for 2 but she put 5 in so that was nice. I have a consultant appointment next week at 16 weeks and they'll let me know whether I'm staying in the blood thinners, then booked a private scan too...I seem to need a lot of reassurance! Possibly as I had no morning sickness and not many pregnancy symptoms! Then it won't be long until 20 weeks then from 28 weeks I will be having scans every few weeks due to my age and I think risk of pre-eclampsia and gestational diabetes which is also due to my ethnicity! All these things you learn!

I hope everyone else is doing well! So lovely to see everyone progressing, just can't believe where the time goes! Are your due dates all January time?

AliceAbsolum · 28/10/2022 08:13

@PMAmostofthetime Aw cute list. Thinking ahead! I have my mum to overthink for me, she was buying nappies at 20 weeks.
Can you feel the baby move? Do you have a bump yet?

Midwife was fine about me declining the induction, she said herself it would probably end in a c section and she wouldn't go for it! So that was my decision made really. I have a consultant appt in 2 weeks, and shes the one 'in charge', so we will see how that goes. I'm not concerned though, she seems very sensible and I feel I have an excellent rationale for a c section if i dont go into labour naturally. Whip her out at 38+1 I say!

@Coops0406 Wonderful to hear from you and read your update! 15 weeks is fabbbbbbb.
FB marketplace is great isnt it. We have an out n about nipper as we also live pretty rurally. I got a really cute little bouncer for free! I would have left it much longer to start buying stuff but everyone else kept buying things and gifting things so we have basically just been collecting everything from 20 weeks. I think we have everything now, and I haven't had my shower yet. Are you going to have one? I never thought I would as not really my thing, but its taken so long to get here that I feel justified and its quite nice to have something to plan and keep me occupied.
I'm due 15th Dec but I think she'll be here a good week before that due to them wanting her out at 39 weeks.

Coops0406 · 29/10/2022 12:31

@AliceAbsolum wow! That is going to come around so fast!!! And you'll be nicely settled at home in time for a cosy Xmas ❤️ sounds bliss 🥰
Great you have everything sorted! I have lots of people wanting to give me hand me downs so just figuring out what we need and make sure we don't end up with everything from everyone!
When will you have your shower? I don't think I'm a baby shower person but I know everyone else will want me to have one! I find it awkward people bringing gifts and then they'll bring gifts again when the baby is born...so if I do have one I think I'll ask for a donation to the fertility network or something like that as I reckon I will be overflowing with hand me downs!! 🤣 i think the main thing I need to sort soon is nursery furniture, but wondering if Black Friday may bring any bargains! Have you done your nursery yet?
