@PMAmostofthetime how did your scan go today?

PMAmostofthetime · 22/08/2022 16:43

@Steph2345 Just got back- all ok. Just needed an ultrasound today as they could very clearly see everything and the little heartbeat. So relieved but still cautious.

Scan at clinic now next Tuesday and then transfer to GP and await 12 week scan :)

The EPU were so lovely today. My clinic were quite dismissive tbh they were like well it's not an ectopic as you had an internal Sunday. So you'll just have to wait and see- called EPU and they reword to reassure me, booked in the scan and we're lovely again today x

AliceAbsolum · 22/08/2022 18:17

Phew. So pleased to hear that!

PMAmostofthetime · 22/08/2022 18:51

@AliceAbsolum Thank you- still a long way to go but another hurdle reached x

Steph2345 · 22/08/2022 20:16

@PMAmostofthetime great news! What a relief! X

PMAmostofthetime · 22/08/2022 21:52

@Steph2345 I know I really thought it was all over- hopefully I'll get a good nights sleep tonight minus the toilet breaks and the pessary wake up call.

Definitely in training for a crying baby. 😂 can't wait 😀

AliceAbsolum · 25/08/2022 07:33

@PMAmostofthetime How far along are you now?

I'm 24 weeks today. Only 4 months to go 😣

PMAmostofthetime · 25/08/2022 09:51

@AliceAbsolum only 8+1 so still a very long way to go before I feel like I can actually say the words I'm pregnant out loud.

16 weeks left sounds better than four months lol 😂.

Are you being induced? I read that they don't like IVF pregnancies going to full term. If all is ok at me next scan on Tuesday when I'm transferred to my GP I will be asking about it.

How's the house and the nursery coming along? How are you finding living in your house again?

X

AliceAbsolum · 25/08/2022 10:11

My consultant has already said he's aiming to induce at 39 weeks. So I assume that's my most likely option? I'd prefer to go into labour on my own for sure, but what can you do. I'm just starting to read up on birth and I'm trying to stay flexible, I think I could come up with this long detailed birth plan and then go for my 36 week growth scan and they whip her out the sunroof. Who knows!

You'll probably be offered consultant lead care at your booking appointment. Do you have that booked in?

DH is upstairs as I type in ikea flat pack hell 😅 I looked on Facebook marketplace and eBay for ages for 2nd hand nursery furniture but so much of it was old or damaged or dirty or just as expensive as new and I got fed up with it. Ikea is good value and it's all antibacterial, every edge is rounded, etc. I trust them.
My mums gone into buying mode and we have been gifted loads of 2nd hand stuff so I basically have 90% of what we will need already. Mum brought round nappies and wipes and cotton wool... Which while I am grateful it feels too early for me. It just makes me anxious. Like what if we never get to bring her home and we have this entire room full of stuff? I can see how people put it off.

Being in the house is amazing. Loving having the space and a fridge and a shower! Luxury.

How's your sickness?

@Nutrinerd Hey due date friend. How're you doing?

How's everyone else?

Somatronic · 25/08/2022 11:23

Hi all, great to read your updates!

I'm 21 weeks today. Had my 20 week scan on Monday and all was well thankfully! My placenta is on the front wall so that explains the lack of movement - I do feel a bit but not much.
Had an antenatal visit at the GP this morning and all was well.

Had to attend the endocrinology clinic at my hospital but all was well. I just have to keep up the monthly bloods.

@AliceAbsolum That's great about getting things from friends etc - mine have been great too. All I'll need to buy in terms of equipment I think is a pram. I considered getting one second hand but I want to be sure that the pram is sturdy and good quality, especially if we are ever lucky enough to have another child so I'll have to grin and bear the cost!

I haven't bought anything at all - no clothes, nappies, equipment, nothing. I'm just nervous of it! I am clearing out a lot of stuff though to make room for baby's things.

@PMAmostofthetime how is the first trimester? I found it very hard, I hope you're feeling OK x

Somatronic · 25/08/2022 11:24

Oh, and according to my scan my baby is now due on New Year's Day. I really hope it doesn't show up on the due date!

PMAmostofthetime · 25/08/2022 18:00

@AliceAbsolum No not booked yet- viability scan with clinic on Tuesday and then they will transfer me to my GP.

That's reassuring to know.
I forgot about the minefield of everything we will need 🙈.
I can completely understand why people wait but also why they want to spread the cost.

It's madness to think a fridge and a shower is luxury 😂.

@Somatronic im glad it's not just me- 8+1 today and my jeans don't fit, not even a little bit small, absolutely no chance in doing them up.
Headaches were bad Monday and Tuesday Kool and Sooth strips from Amazon are my best friend.
My boobs are huge and so sore- I was really nauseous but today I'm not and am starving. I have an aversion to meat and now fish 🙈 makes me want to gag just thinking about it.
Really fussy with food at the moment too.
I just feel BLUURGH And I need so much more sleep than usual but of course I'm just grateful that I am pregnant and hope everything goes well.

21 weeks- over half way! NYD it could be worse it could be Christmas Day. I'm not due until 5th April but I think it'll be a March baby all going well. OH is convinced it's a boy he has no preference to either and we actually only have girls names 🙈 but he's convinced. We haven't told anyone yet.

When do you share your news? How did you do it? X

Nutrinerd · 25/08/2022 18:36

@AliceAbsolum things finally starting to settle from the hyperemesis. Managing to do a little bit of work and trying to sort out where we’re going to be living and spending a fair bit of time in IKEA as well!

Finally starting to accept that this appears to be happening. Had a panic when a friend bought us a baby outfit before we even hit 24 weeks. Definitely calmer than in the 8-16 week phase and have stopped worrying about every little twinge. Have had my first non consensual baby bump touching as well now that I’m starting to show which was disconcerting!

@PMAmostofthetime so excited to catch up on everything that has happened for you, sorry to hear that you’ve had the worry of bleeding and extra scans.

AliceAbsolum · 25/08/2022 18:39

@PMAmostofthetime Might be worth checking whether or not you need to refer yourself to maternity services. I did, it wasn't through my GP.
Looking back I wish I had just eaten what I wanted when I wanted. After 10 years veggie and vegan it was a struggle to accept I wanted meat. Now it's all I eat, day in day out, MEAT 😅
Your body knows what to do x

Somatronic · 25/08/2022 18:43

@PMAmostofthetime you poor thing it's awful isn't it? I had most of those symptoms too but I was OK by 13/14 weeks so hopefully it won't last too long for you.

Re telling people - the few people who knew we were doing IVF we told straight away. I told work friends at 12 weeks because I felt so bad for so long and I thought it would help if they knew the situation, also the "lying" was getting to me.

I told my friends when I saw them, I think I met my close friends from home around 15 or 16 weeks in the pub and told them then.

I don't like social media announcements or anything like that so I just tell people when I see them!

PMAmostofthetime · 25/08/2022 19:52

@Nutrinerd Thank you- wow 24 weeks I can't believe how far along you all are I'm excited to get to November/ December and hear your birth announcements :) maybe we should have a IVF birth announcement thread it would be good to know when they arrive safely.

I don't want to tell anyone until 20 weeks at least but I don't think I'm going to have a choice I keep piling on the pounds. The baby is the size of a Raspberry yet I'm no longer in my size 6 or 8's I've always been small framed as I am also very short so I think it's just going to be obvious soon- someone's already made a comment that Lockdown got me!

@AliceAbsolum I'm the complete opposite hate all meat and fish 🤢.
Worried about protein so been eating Arlo yoghurts and nuts a lot.
In my area the Midwives are all attached to each surgery. So have to go through the GP/ nurse to be referred through and as I'm going to be 8+6 if all os ok next Tuesday I think my 12 week scan will be late.

@Somatronico That's reassuring to hear only 6 more weeks to go- over half way there already I suppose. How do people not know they are pregnant or do you think we get worse symptoms because of the pessaries as what our bodies have been through.
I'm not going to do a social media announcement either.

Out of interest do any of you know what your having I know @AliceAbsolum is having a little girl 🎀

I always said I didn't want to find out but now I keep changing my mind.

X

Somatronic · 25/08/2022 22:43

I chose not to find out the sex. I like a surprise!

PMAmostofthetime · 30/08/2022 20:16

Update from me- viability scan all went well- I'm 8+6 today and babies measuring 8+5 which they are happy with and a strong little heart beat- little wriggler already.

Found the cause of my bleeds I have a fibroid that's currently bigger than the baby!
They said it's nothing to worry about but if my blood group is rhesus negative I'll need anti D injections from 12 weeks as it will continue to break away and bleed.
I only need to go to EPU if it's painful or bright red.

Still don't believe I'm pregnant 🤰 🙈 x

Somatronic · 30/08/2022 20:53

Great news! Well done @PMAmostofthetime

AliceAbsolum · 02/09/2022 04:03

9 weeks with a strong heart beat is a great place to be! Not long til 12 weeks then hopefully things will feel more real.
I found once I noticed a little bump it started to sink in.
Exciting!

PMAmostofthetime · 02/09/2022 08:47

@Somatronic @AliceAbsolum

Thank you all booked on with the midwife and waiting for my scan date :)

Pessaries stopped yesterday at 9 weeks I thought it would be 12 but they said everything is going well so I can stop now.

How are you both doing? X

AliceAbsolum · 02/09/2022 09:08

@PMAmostofthetime 9 weeks off the pessaries, I'm jealous! I was on them until week 13.

I've got my 25 week appt with the midwife today, I always feel reassured afterwards. Yesterday was a bad day, I didnt feel her move ALL morning. Went into panic mode about 12 noon, decided to wait an hour and to call the unit at 1pm. 12.50 she started gymnastics again. Honestly, the fear is unreal.

Somatronic · 02/09/2022 10:44

@AliceAbsolum I'm glad it worked out OK for you yesterday. It's such a worry. I feel movement most days but my placenta is at the front so I think I feel less than others at this stage.

@PMAmostofthetime yay on the pessaries being finished. I had to use them until 12 weeks and I hated them so much!

Nothing much to report here. I have another obstetrician appointment in 2 weeks I think. Then my usual thyroid bloods and review by the endocrinology team the following week. Feel good most of the time so I'm very lucky that way. 22 weeks yesterday.

PMAmostofthetime · 02/09/2022 22:46

@AliceAbsolum @Somatronic
I honestly feel like the brain fog lifted and I have so much more motivation. Be good if I can sleep now. I've been waking for the toilet between 3-5am and not being able to go back to sleep 😴

@AliceAbsolum
How did the Midwife go- that little one is certainly keeping you on your toes already.

@Somatronic 22 weeks over half way there!

X

AliceAbsolum · 03/09/2022 09:48

@PMAmostofthetime Glad the fog has lifted. I'm also up at that time from the loo and then cant get back to sleep.
Midwife was fine, in and out in 5 min.
