Hello, I've been following along for a while, and sometimes posting in other Jan-Feb-Mar-Apr ivf threads. @MollyVanDer I think I remember you from another thread from last year... anyway, I've just finished 3x rounds of embryo banking.
After 2 unsuccessful rounds of ivf (bfn, then bfp & mmc) it was one of several options suggested by my dr. I'm 42 now and we decided to do embryo banking with PGT-a testing, as a sort of last ditch effort. If we got multiple tested 'normals' then there was a chance of a baby or perhaps even a future sibling. The alternative was doing another fresh round, but if it worked and we wanted to try for a sibling we would have to do another EC at a later age.
It took us about 4 months to do the 3 rounds. We started with down reg at the end of Dec, EC in Jan, 2nd EC literally 3 weeks later (it was a dual stim or duo stim protocol where you start stims again 5 days after EC), then wait for 2 periods, then my third round was short protocol, so the stims started at day 2 with no down reg.
We decided to test each round instead of waiting to test them all at the end, and we got (1 : 4 : 0) 5/6-day blasts biopsied and frozen, which resulted in (1 : 1 : 0) tested normals. (Gutted the third round was a bust. We had 4 blasts in the running on day 5 but not big enough to biopsy, then they all quit growing.) But glad to have 2 good ones in the freezer!
Also we decided to have a frozen transfer 5 days after our third banking egg collection. I don't think it's common, but my Dr was fine with it and said if I felt good and ready in my body and mind, then we could go for it.
And some more good news, I had my blood test today (9dp 5dt) and it was positive! BFP!
