Hi all, do any of you have experience with ovary pain in the second half of the TWW? I’m assuming it’s too late for OHSS (8 days post transfer) plus I wasn’t at risk of that anyway given the low number of follicles. No other OHSS type symptoms to report either. All afternoon I’ve been getting quite sharp pains, lasting for a few seconds, every 5 minutes or so. I’m also assuming it’s too early to experience ectopic pain, which I didn’t think was a risk with IVF until I googled earlier!! Any thoughts appreciated.

Autumn245 · 11/04/2022 20:19

@Somatronic ooh not long to go now, all the best for EC on Thursday 😊

@PMAmostofthetime I haven't iced the area yet so I think I'll try that tonight and see if it makes a difference. Its Cetrorelix I'm on, would that be the same you had? I'm so sorry to hear your embabies didn't stick but planting something in their memory sounds like a lovely tribute to them ❤️

SamTTC · 11/04/2022 20:45

@Soleste I had ovary pain all through my 2ww, thinking it was likely a combination of post-ec pain and the progesterone supplements.

@Somatronic so soon! that's exciting.

@PMAmostofthetime my clinic is super weird about questions! I wish I had more opportunities to ask. Actually I tried researching it a bit today and it seems legit that transfer time is more dependent on the medicine than the natural cycle length. Now I'm just wondering why they are scheduling a day 6 embryo four days after starting progesterone, I thought it went hand in hand. I might just ask at my transfer though.

@Steph2345 aww I'm happy that you are doing better with it all and so good that you had proper care. Yeah my transfer is set for the 19th. So a longer wait than I was expecting. But as long as it gives me an actual shot at pregnancy, the wait obviously doesn't matter...

@Iwouldlikesomecake the waiting takes foreeeeever I agree! If only life always passed by this slowly huh?

TommieNC · 11/04/2022 20:50

@PMAmostofthetime I started POAS at 6dp5dt with IC’s and FRER’s. The FRERS have gotten darker and the IC’s followed the same pattern until the last 2 days where the IC’s are lighter. So…I don’t know what to think, whether I should be cautiously excited or preparing myself for bad news. I’m kicking myself for testing early.

I felt similar this summer waiting until 14dp5dt for my beta after getting negative hpt’s everyday and knowing it was pointless because I already knew that FET didn’t work. They should let you test a couple days early.

Soleste · 11/04/2022 21:06

@SamTTC thank you, that’s reassuring. I think I’d be less worried if I’d had the pain from the get-go, it’s just odd it’s started today. Maybe my ovary is just having a late onset grumble about what I’ve subjected it to!

@Iwouldlikesomecake totally agree about the slooooow passage of time in the 2ww. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you could apply that to two weeks in the sun for instance!

PMAmostofthetime · 11/04/2022 21:28

@Soleste it is still possible so if the pain is not going away with paracetamol- I'd call the clinic.

Pain can be caused by progesterone though, I was advised about it by my clinic in the Post ET notes and can come and go at any time.

Ectopic wouldn't cause pain yet ( accordingly to my post ET FAQ's) it says around 3 weeks post ET and can cause pain in the shoulder blade.

@Autumn245 I just checked mine was Certrotide - a quick google search tells me it's the same stuff- so icing definitely helped- I also put both in one side each night and alternated I'd go left nearer my hip- right nearer my hip Left nearer my belly button, right nearer my belly button so each area had 3 days to heal and be less sore.

@SamTTC hopefully someone on here can shed some light for you.

@TommieNC sounds promising to me. Smile

X🍍

LT103 · 11/04/2022 21:41

@HJen22 yes I think will be around the same time but no meds at all for my transfer. I asked for medicated but my clinic is really against it so we’re doing a natural cycle with just an injection of ovitrelle at time of transfer. No progesterone at all

LT103 · 11/04/2022 21:52

@Steph2345 sorry to hear about your OHSS. Sounds horrible but glad you’re home and recovering!! When do you test?

@HJen22 ugh covid doesn’t sound fun but def less stressful getting it out the way before next collection!

@Autumn245 I had 31 follicles on my first scan (7 days into stims). Didn’t have a baseline scan. Only got 9 eggs but ended up with 7 day 5 embryos frozen. I was also on a low protocol. They told me you don’t want any more than I think it was 12 eggs as can start to get poorer quality (it might have been 15). But point being quality over quantity. You def some want all 37 follicles maturing or there would be a risk of OHSS so sounds like it is all going well!!

Soleste · 11/04/2022 22:06

@PMAmostofthetime thank you, I’ll see how it is tomorrow. Sounds like your clinic gave you very comprehensive notes. I just got a sheet with the test date and ante-natal instructions on. Glad to hear you’re doing better today and I hope Wednesday comes quickly for you so you can move on from this cycle.

@Autumn245 mine was cetrotide too and was very stingy. I asked the nurse about icing and she said not to ice before the injection as it wouldn’t disperse properly. Icing afterwards definitely helped though. If you’ve time to order from Amazon I found one of those gel packs for muscle pain worked really well as it sat flat against my stomach. Also make sure you wipe the end of the needle before you inject it- it will sting even more if there is a drop of the liquid on the end. Good luck!

Jampot36 · 12/04/2022 05:05

@Soleste I've had crampy pains for a while now and was told by my clinic it'll be the progesterone and our bodies are a little tender after ec and et

@Iwouldlikesomecake yes this wait is slow! I think i have to add an extra day to mine because got family stuff planned that we cant get out of. If i test and its neggy i would not be ok for a 200 mile drive to the in laws 😒

On another note does anyone find progesterone affecting mood? I'm generally pretty chill but been very down and tearful last couple of days for no real reason.

Autumn245 · 12/04/2022 06:42

@PMAmostofthetime I iced last night and what a difference! Although I did find it hard to push the liquid in so maybe you are right about it not dispersing @soleste I do have some ice packs just haven't put them in the freezer yet haha. Good tip about wiping the needle thanks. All the nurse told me was don't bother using the alcohol wipe on skin beforehand as it will sting more.

@LT103 thank you that makes me feel better knowing others have gotten less eggs from high follicle count and yes definitely quality over quantity 😊

HJen22 · 12/04/2022 07:25

@PMAmostofthetime I am so glad to hear you are feeling a little better and spending time with loved ones has helped. You are doing so well and the days, little by little will get better. Also lovely you bought some plants too, I felt it really helped me with some closure and I'm patiently waiting for it to flower 🌺 i hope with ending the pessaries you will begin to feel better too and you can start thinking about the next cycle, whenever you are ready x

@LT103 ah I see! Doing a natural cycle at least will mean less hormones being pumped into you and going with your bodies own natural hormones. How are you feeling about it?

Yeah it's not so fun but just like a bad cold. I'm a little worried now but my clinic didn't say much about it when I asked last time so I'm hoping it's all fine. Trying not to worry as I know every clinic is different, about everything in ivf it seems!

@Steph2345 how are you feeling now?

LT103 · 12/04/2022 08:12

@HJen22 I’m not sure to be honest. My cycles are regular but I spot really early and really heavy and just don’t see how natural will work but they are adamant and gave me all the reasons why so just need to trust them. They know what they’re doing. He said the hcg injection on the day will boost my natural progesterone and if I get pregnant body will take over. He said they have better success rates with that. 🤷🏻‍♀️
We’re private so it’s less cost too I guess haha. Means this is pretty much a freebie transfer.

I just wish it would hurry up. We have our planning call 2 may then I’m guessing it’s next cycle so I’m willing my ovulation to be delayed so day 1 will be round about call day!!

AliceAbsolum · 12/04/2022 11:06

Thanks for all your kind words ladies. Good to hear your updates.

I got free dental care today! Thats a win.

DH and I are house-sitting his parents house for 3 weeks, then we have booked 10 days in Pembrokeshire on @PMAmostofthetime s recommendation :) Then we will have a scan for the day we get back. If we get that far. I'll be 9+2 then. Feels sensible. I just have to stay chill for a month and 2 days. Easy Grin

@LT103 sounds like they've got good reasoning and success to be giving natural a try, do ask them plenty of questions though if there is anything you aren't sure about and causing you worry. Everything always seems to be such a wait doesn't it. Hopefully the next few weeks go fast!

@AliceAbsolum haha fab for free dental! I hope you are feeling ok? And great you've got a wee trip booked for after house sitting.

Suki2020 · 12/04/2022 18:27

Hi ladies how are you all doing? So my egg collection is tomorrow and I’m so nervous. What did you wear? Do I go in jogggers and a hoodie?

SamTTC · 12/04/2022 18:35

It'll be great @Suki2020! Just comfortable clothing, nice warm socks. Don't use any perfume or body lotion or anything that smells. Bring water/juice and snacks.
Let us know how it goes!

Suki2020 · 12/04/2022 18:38

Thanks @SamTTC how are you?

Steph2345 · 12/04/2022 18:39

@Suki2020 yay! Best of luck tomorrow. Let us know how it goes. I did joggers and a hoodie. What have you got planned for after the EC? I slept the whole afternoon so you may want to clear your diary 😂

HJen22 · 12/04/2022 18:40

@Suki2020 good luck! I hope you get a good sleep tonight! Are you in early? I just wore leggings and a hoody, I got to keep my bra on but other than that just the gown they gave me, had to take off my lucky socks and just wear their slipper things! Oh and the lovely hair net haha!

I took some paracetamol and ibuprofen an hour before as per their instructions and fasted from the night before. No make up, jewellery or nail varnish and yeah nothing that smells!

I did some meditation in the morning beforehand and some deep breathing in the car. You've got this!

Suki2020 · 12/04/2022 18:49

@thanks @Steph2345 I have no plans, we leave about an hr away from the clinic so sleeping in the car lol.

Thanks @HJen22 yeah im booked in for 8:15am and been told to arrive at 7:45am. Don’t think I’m going to sleep much tonight, my tummy is in knots already.

LuckyNovember · 12/04/2022 19:12

Good luck @Suki2020 you'll be grand! Definitely joggers and a hoody, by EC they're the only things that fit me 😂 I had to wait for 2 hours after before they let me leave, so brings snacks and drinks! It's a very exciting day, plan something nice for the evening and good luck!!

Suki2020 · 12/04/2022 19:14

@thank you @LuckyNovember. Did you have much discomfort afterwards?

Autumn245 · 12/04/2022 19:22

Good luck for egg collection tomorrow @Suki2020 sending lots of happy vibes your way ✨️ 💖

Soleste · 12/04/2022 19:27

@Suki2020 good luck! You’ll be fine, I’m sure. I was very nervous too but I was fine (and I’m a wimp!!). Wear whatever you’ll be most comfy in for the journey home as you may be a bit tender afterwards. Nothing worse than mild period pains though, paracetamol and a hot water bottle were enough. One thing I didn’t think to take was panty liners, there was a bit of bleeding afterwards (which is normal apparently) so that would have made my journey home more comfortable- we also live a bit of a drive away from the clinic.
