IVF buddies April/May

Sorry if there's already an April/May thread, I can't find it!

All of our tests have been completed (last August) and we were advised to call the clinic on day one of my cycle in April. AF arrived early for the first time in forever so I chanced ringing yesterday and we're good to go!!

Just waiting on a call back from the clinic with official dates and protocol but I know I'll be taking Norethisterone pills first so won't be dealing with injections for a good few weeks yet.

Is anyone else about to get started? It would be great to have some buddies along the way

I'm 30, DH 27. TTC over 3 years and delayed getting tests due to Covid.
We're at Care Fertility Chester and this is out first ever round (we only get one NHS funded - thanks postcode lottery)

@ChristmasJumpers Goodluck for your stims , I found time went a lot faster when we started stims, hope it does for you too.

No plans really, I am at work most of this week and next which will help time pass a little faster. When home we are finding films/ series to watch, going for walks everything really to mostly distract!!

@Poppy9991 I am about to do my last menopur this evening then trigger shot tomorrow egg collection Wednesday. My clinic are closed over the bank holiday otherwise I think I would have it on Monday but oh well hopefully some more follicles can get bigger! How you feeling after collection? I was fine after my first 2nd I wasn't great and couldn't really walk for a day or two haha so god knows how I will be after this one haha.

@Alexm06 It’s odd that the pain varied so much from one time to another… As for me, I was soooo nervous the day and night before. Staring at the ceiling of my room eyes wide open, not knowing what to expect, fearing the sedation and the results. My DH was unfortunately also in a bad mood the day before and we ended up almost fighting. It was really not ideal. On the day itself, I was a bit stressed but the whole team has been amazing, seriously, the nurses and the doctor were all really cheerful and nice! And the sedation, if I’m honest it was quite pleasant to fall asleep in 2 seconds really haha. I’d quite like some of that cocktail for those nights where my endless thoughts are just keeping me awake… I was knocked off in seconds like in these movies where someone sneaks up from behind and presses a damp chloroform cloth on someone’s mouth and they fall unconscious straight away (of course this is not how it happened it was an intravenous sedation haha). I felt relatively ok afterwards, a bit of bloating but not too much, very light spotting, some sharp pain in my ovaries here and then but nothing unbearable really. I worked from home in the afternoon to keep myself busy and drank nearly 4L of water and kept going to the loo. I had the feeling the more I peed the less pain I felt! Sorry if tmi haha!
Anyway I’m sure it’s going to be ok!! And at least you got to enjoy the bank holiday! Fingers crossed everything goes well, you’ll be absolutely fine.

@ChristmasJumpers really it’s up to them. I would have hoped for a day 5 transfer but if they call tomorrow and tell me they want to put them back in at day 3 I’ll trust their judgement. I just hope they survived to day 3 at this stage. When I say “they” I mean if they decide transferring 2 embies (that is, If I have at least 2). I’m ok with whatever they’ll think is best. To be honest if they could shove 5 of them for a chance to have one I’ll go for it haha! (well maybe not 5 though…). It reminds me of that episode in Friends where Phoebe gets 5 of her brother’s embryos transferred to be his surrogate and ends up with triplets.

I've had 2 days of Ovaleap now and after a bit of dancing around and running away from DH yesterday, they're fine! No pain and nice and easy to do 😊

Just waiting for my day 5 scan on Friday to see how I'm responding

@ChristmasJumpers I actually never heard about the mcdonald’s fries before and just googled it, it looks like a thing haha! You know what, why not? There’s a Mc donald’s just 5min from Guy’s hospital, I’ll grab myself some ha!

@IE00 yes I was quite please they told me on day 3 that they were developing nicely so could wait until day 5. I don’t know yet about number I think they’ll advise me today. Good luck!

@IE00 no way!!! This is crazy, my appointment was at 10.40 so right after yours! We must have crossed path in the waiting room
surely…what are the odds??? This is so funny! So how did it go? it was really quick for me! I don’t think I’ll have any embryo to freeze though, they haven’t processed that well and quick enough after day 3… So counting on this cycle! 2WW now!

Yes I'm still in for transfer on friday so long as my embaby thaw's properly ! So that's the next worry, always something with IVF :)

@Poppy9991 omg we may have crossed paths! Yes it went fine thanks. Oh no sorry to hear they didn't survive. How many did they transfer? The embryologist told me the grade, which they haven't before and it's causing me a lot of anxiety now. I'm not in a endless Google spiral of success rates help!

@IVFGotThis05 yes it was today. Good luck with yours! Why would you think it wouldn't survive? I thought that was quite rare

@IE00 he told me the grades too but to be honest I didn’t understand what he said, my bladder was so full I was just busy not peeing myself haha… and maybe that’s for the best, at least I’m not wondering too much about it! they transferred 2 as multiple pregnancies are apparently quite rare at my age. Don’t worry too much about embryos grading, a friend of mine had IVF treatment, 5 transfers in total, the last one that worked was a frozen one which was the lowest quality of all the 5 transfers and she now just got her daughter from that one! They wouldn’t transfer a non viable one anyway.

So quite disappointed in my results! I knew I was ready to have collection on Monday with my number but the fuckers wouldn't do it as it's bank holiday. So they got 19. 10 being mature. I've never had that many drop off straight away. I think they were over mature so yeah I'm quite upset. Also my partners 1st sperm wasn't good to use so he had to do it again and they said it was alright but now having to do ICSI. So yeah I don't think I'm going to get the 6 4AAs that I got last time. Hope all the transfers go well today!

@Alexm06 6 4AA's sounds amazing! I haven't seen those numbers on here before. You only need one remember. If you don't mind my asking, did you say you got 6 last time? Have you transferred them all from the last cycle - so this is your 7th round?

@IE00 that was from my 2nd fresh cycle last year. My first one only got the 1 which was a MMC. 2nd I had 6 had 1 put back in so had 5 to freeze. 1 didn't survive defrost 2 were transferred together which ended in chemical 1 failed and last one was another miscarriage. So yeah I disappointing as I know I won't get good ones again. This will be my 6th transfer.

@Alexm06 oh no you have been through a lot. I am so sorry. Fingers crossed for a positive outcome this time around.

@Alexm06 don’t beat yourself up! I agree it’s really frustrating that your clinic was closed on bank holiday… like… what did they do for these ladies who were meant to have a transfer on Monday…. How odd. But look at the positives, 10 eggs is great. And again, I don’t think we should look too much into the grading. These embryos are stronger than we think! And hopefully the 6th will be the good one for you! The more transfers you go through the more probability you have to get a live birth, it’s simple math! 🤞🏼
