Sorry if there's already an April/May thread, I can't find it!

All of our tests have been completed (last August) and we were advised to call the clinic on day one of my cycle in April. AF arrived early for the first time in forever so I chanced ringing yesterday and we're good to go!!

Just waiting on a call back from the clinic with official dates and protocol but I know I'll be taking Norethisterone pills first so won't be dealing with injections for a good few weeks yet.

Is anyone else about to get started? It would be great to have some buddies along the way Smile

I'm 30, DH 27. TTC over 3 years and delayed getting tests due to Covid.
We're at Care Fertility Chester and this is out first ever round (we only get one NHS funded - thanks postcode lottery)

@LouiseD2018 such good news!!! Really pleased for you!! This one is a fighter! Really hoping you have a smooth pregnancy!

Greeneyedfairy · 03/06/2022 14:49

I have been referred for IVF and I am completely clueless about the process. I am 40 and we have unexplained secondary infertility. We have been TTC with years and I kept putting IVF on the long finger, as we had several chemical pregnancies and I always hoped the next one would be the one to progress 😔

LouiseD2018 · 04/06/2022 08:45

@Greeneyedfairy good luck, you should have an initial consultation where they explain what type of cycle you will be recommended. Usually there are a few tests before this so they can calculate things.

It's a bit of an emotional rollercoaster if I'm honest, everything feels so out of your control. My main advice is be kind to yourselves, try not worry about numbers. Ask all the questions you need. Who have you gone with?

Hi @louiseD2018 thanks for the reply ✨ I am from Ireland, so we have gone with SIMS, as there isn't any funding for IVF here in Ireland, so we have been saving up for it. My GP has ordered some necessary blood work and hopefully it will speed up the process re our initial consultation. I will have results on Thursday I hope re AMH, 7dpo progesterone test, as well as thyroid antibody testing. I just have to wait for cd3 to do the other hormone tests. My AMH was 19.5 when I had it checked in 2020. We conceived again in December 2020, but I had another chemical pregnancy. I stepped away from the FRER's after that and just waited to see if my cycle came or not.

I suppose I will know more when I get my first lot of results back from the lab.

Hello, I thought I would provide an update to the group. Just had the 7 week scan and it was all fine! So nice to see the little heartbeat. Thank you for all your support. Best of luck @ChristmasJumpers and @IVFGotThis05 for your next steps.

@Greeneyedfairy I would echo what @LouiseD2018 said. I personally found the lack of control very unsettling but I also did CBT to help. It helped massively. I would also say to manage your expectations and consider IVF a part of your life for a year or two. You can only be pleasantly surprised this way. Best of luck to you

ChristmasJumpers · 06/06/2022 17:55

@IE00 congratulations, that's amazing! I bet there's no feeling like it 😍 have you been discharged from the clinic now?

I spoke to a consultant on Friday about the next steps. I'll start Norethisterone either tomorrow or Wednesday (depending on how early it gets delivered tomorrow) to induce a bleed. I'll then start Oestrogen om day one of my induced cycle 😆 I don't have exact dates for anything but looks like a definite July transfer 💕

@IE00 Ahh that's so lovely to hear !! I bet that was a good day ! :)

I'm just in limbo, I'm still waiting for a consultation appointment to come through the post but no joy so far! Whenever it happens I will be onto my 2nd IVF cycle ( I get 3 full cycles) So needles and egg collection to look forward to again! I go on holiday on Monday so I'm hoping we don't hear anything until after that so we can kind of just forget about it all for now, it's been a nice little break not thinking about anything IVF related over the last 2 weeks!

And who knows, I might just have a little miracle made when I'm stress free in Portugal 😂😊

IE00 · 07/06/2022 12:03

@ChristmasJumpers yes all discharged. Oooo exciting, I've got a good feeling you will be successful. You've got youth on your side, which helps massively.

@IVFGotThis05 that is great you get 3 cycles funded. I only got one funded cycle with three transfers. The IVF postcode lottery is shameful! I think taking a break is not a bad idea. Just learning to be yourself again and be together I think can make you stronger for the next round.

ChristmasJumpers · 07/06/2022 15:51

@IE00 I really hope so, would really love to add to the positivity of this thread! please keep us updated on how you're doing throughout your pregnancy 😊

Meds were delivered fairly early so I've started Norethisterone today! So excited. My mood is so much better with knowing I'm back on the road to getting my embaby back where it belongs

Not such good news on my side… Went for my scan at the clinic yesterday was meant to be 8w3d but they saw that the baby had stopped to grow at 6w and no HB. So unfortunately for me it’s a missed miscarriage. I’ve been quite anxious something was going to go wrong given I had 2 past MCs but was hoping this was the one for me… It’s a bit unsettling news especially as no pain nor bleeding but that’s life…
Good luck everyone on this thread, I’ll probably take a break from the internet for now until next try! Thanks all!

LouiseD2018 · 18/06/2022 07:05

So so sorry to read this @Poppy9991 sending healing thoughts ❤️

Greeneyedfairy · 27/06/2022 13:23

@Poppy9991 I am so sorry to hear that. Are you okay? I have lost 7 pregnancies myself at 4+2 - 4+5, but I know myself that the further along in pregnancy a loss is it is more painful on all levels to lose💐Thinking of you during this difficult time.

IE00 · 01/02/2023 14:30

Hey,

I'm just wondering how we are all doing on this thread?

Baby Otis was born on 9th January, he's doing very well. My daughter is being a great big sister. I'm hoping there are other positive stories on here to share?

Xxx

IVFGotThis05 · 01/02/2023 15:23

@IE00 Ahhh that's so nice to hear!! congratulations !!! 🤗What a lovely name too!

Still nothing on my end, I start my last NHS funded cycle in June, I put it back a little just to have a break!

IE00 · 01/02/2023 15:37

@IVFGotThis05 so nice to hear from you. Have you had any cycles since this one? How have you been? Hope you're staying well and enjoying life as best you can xx

ExhaustedPigeon1988 · 02/02/2023 07:06

Hey everyone! Congratulations @IE00 that amazing news, and I also love the name :)

we are finally on the right path hopefully- I still never take a day for granted! 29 weeks tomorrow, Sonny is due 21st April :)

after 5 rounds, 1 twin MC, and 10 years of trying naturally, the crappy embryo that I cried about, and didn’t want to bother with the transfer is now our son :)

I hope each and everyone of you are on your path to your happy ending, it’s bloody tough, but you are tougher. Sending love and baby dust x

IE00 · 02/02/2023 08:07

@ExhaustedPigeon1988 oh I'm so happy for you!! 29 weeks is such a wonderful time, baby kicking so it all feels real, but not too exhausted of being pregnant (yet!), enjoy enjoy! Please keep us posted when he's born. Curious to know, what worked with this embryo? May be useful to share with the group if you haven't already X X

IE00 · 02/02/2023 08:29

For me, second time success, they increased my progesterone as I bled early the first time. Not sure if it was that or just the fact that my body was getting used to the process again (this is baby #2 with IVF), but it worked!

ExhaustedPigeon1988 · 02/02/2023 13:23

Thank you, yes trying to enjoy it all, although I feel huge and it’s hard work lol- much harder than I expected tbh!

I have had multiple miscarriages, getting pregnant wasn’t too much of a problem with ex partners, but they would all end fairly early. My current partner and me have been together 14 years, turns out he has low sperm, and hence why we never got pregnant. IVF worked 2nd time for us, but ended at 6/7 weeks. Despite me asking the clinic to look into autoimmune issues they wanted to continue transfers. I was ‘lucky’ enough to have a skin reaction that I was prescribed steroids for- that I used during my following transfer. Although my lowest grade at 3CB, he’s stuck :) I honestly feel it was the prednisone that done the job x

LouiseD2018 · 12/02/2023 23:40

Ah it's lovely to see nice news from this difficult journey!

Our ivf journey was successful, our one and only attempt. After a lot if yoyoing poor response to medication, husband catching covid, by some miracle we got to egg collection. 3 eggs retrieved, I had a dominant egg so lots were 2 small. Only 1 fertlised and by the grace of god he stuck with us.

Difficult pregnancy lots of spotting, a big bleed caused by subchronic haematoma really made us think it was all over. Everything settled down and I was booked in for c section 29th December due to low lying placenta.

Our Isaac was born a healthy 7lb15 at 39 weeks!

I lost a lot of blood and then went onto catch an infection in my scar so recovery was a little pants but 6 weeks on, coming out the other end. Our little boy has been an absolute dream.

No other surviving embryos and I wouldn't have the strength to endure another ivf cycle so our family is thankfully complete!

Sleeter0893 · 13/02/2023 04:47

Hi all! I'm 29 and husband is 31, soon to be 32. We're waiting on our final pricing from our clinic right now and then preparing for TESE in March. Once we know those numbers, we'll be preparing for IVF in June once I'm finished with my degree (I'm in the US). Super excited to hear all of your journeys and root everyone on before our turn!

ExhaustedPigeon1988 · 13/02/2023 07:43

A massive congratulations @LouiseD2018 I also had the hematoma issue- about 11/12 weeks when it started, and although the bleeding was only light and for 1-2 weeks they could still see it on scans until about 18 weeks- which was so damn scary!

your 1 embryo was obviously meant to be :) like you we have nothing left, but I really would like 2 children- more so for them than me tbh. My clinic allow you to start ivf after 2 natural bleeds, so it’s crazy to think I could be starting all this again by the end of the year! I must be mad!

all the very best to you and your family, and the best of luck and loads of baby dust to you @Sleeter0893 i found these forums an incredible help, and the amazing ladies on here an inspiration x

IE00 · 14/02/2023 12:08

@LouiseD2018 lovely to hear about baby Isaac, love the name. I'm so sorry about your pregnancy, sounds really difficult. I also had a subchorionic hematoma at 14 weeks, knickers were completely soaked in blood on a flight to Toulouse. I had to make a b line to the hospital, once we waited an agonisingly long time for our bags and to collect the carm I could not speak enough french but luckily there was another pregnant lady there who translated. All very scary but luckily all okay. It disappeared on the scan at 17 weeks.
Pregnancy is never easy but totally worth it in the end. Glad you've recovered from your infection too.

@ExhaustedPigeon1988 good luck with the next round. I have heard that second EC around it is more straightforward, your body knows what it's doing. Remember it'll be worth it in the end!!

@Sleeter0893 good luck. This forum is for 2022 folk so you may get more chat on a 2023 forum. 🙃

@Poppy9991 how are you getting on?
