Anyone else here on Letrozole or Clomid for ovulation induction?

I'm on my 2nd cycle of Letrozole and looking for others in a similar situation.

Info about me:
26 y.o
Been TTC for just over 2 years.
Dosage: 5mg of Letrozole on days 3-7.
Diagnoses: Male factor (0% morphology), low AMH, low progesterone

I'm currently on CD10 and using OPKs to track for ovulation. I'll be taking a blood test on 7dpo to check if I ovulated.

@ttcisexhausting thank you! Sending you so much luck 🤞🏼

Wackadoodle84 · 19/05/2022 17:43

@Rhianne18 brilliant news! Absolutely delighted for you 🥰

Wackadoodle84 · 19/05/2022 17:47

@BritInNZ you’re very welcome, have you started the letrozole yet? Fingers crossed it will work for you.

@TheDaydreamBelievers it was a hand written script so that’s prob where the mistake was made, on the bright side it will save me having to pick up my script next month if needed as now have a three month supple ready 🤷‍♀️😂

Took trigger shot yesterday, still on nights which makes ttc this month that bit harder

Rhianne18 · 19/05/2022 17:54

@Wackadoodle84 thank you! Sending you all the luck for this month 🤞🏼

BritInNZ · 19/05/2022 19:48

@Wackadoodle84 thanks for the welcome! AF arrived today so will start letrozole on Sunday (we're a day ahead in NZ). Made the sting of AF arriving a bit better to deal with knowing we get started on a plan now!

Wackadoodle84 · 21/05/2022 19:13

@BritInNZ hope your first month goes well, what dose are you on? My first month I thought I was getting a lot of headaches on the letrozole but this month has been grand. Day 15 today. Think I am 1dpo

Loz365 · 21/05/2022 19:48

Hello! Please can I join?!

Background: PCOS, TTC for 17 months now, last year I only had 3 periods. They've been reasonably regular since taking inositol this year but progesterone always low when checked. Last month I tracked OPKs and BBT and seemed to show that I ovulate but under the NHS infertility team and they've prescribed letrozole. AF arrived today 😭 so starting letrozole tomorrow!

Consultant wants a scan at day 11-14 and day 21 progesterone so trying to stay positive that this will work for us! X

BritInNZ · 21/05/2022 20:50

@Wackadoodle84 I'm on 2.5mg this month. I ovulate already, this is last chance saloon for us before IVF is the only option. What's your situation?

@Loz365 welcome! I'm 16 months so just behind you. I have regular periods and ovulate though. I'm starting letrozole this evening (your Sunday morning), so will be good to compare notes!

Loz365 · 22/05/2022 07:42

@BritInNZ thanks for the welcome! It's so nice to have others to talk to! Are you having any monitoring done?

BritInNZ · 22/05/2022 07:51

@Loz365 I am! I am being monitored this first month to make sure the dosage is right, hopefully no monitoring needed after. Have my scan on 31 May 😊 what about you? About to take my first pill - eek!

Loz365 · 22/05/2022 14:46

@BritInNZ that's good! Yep I'm being monitored too for the first cycle. The doctor has started me at 5mg so hoping it'll work first time at this dose. Taking my first tablet tonight and then calling the clinic tomorrow to book in an ultrasound then blood test for day 21 progesterone. If all okay I have 6 cycles in total and won't need any more monitoring.
My cycles have been around 35 days so hoping this will shorten them a bit!

It's probably too early but have you noticed any side effects yet? That's the only thing I've been a little nervous about which is why I've decided to take them in the evening.

BritInNZ · 22/05/2022 19:49

@Loz365 my cycles are about 28 days but I always get weird spotting around ovulation and before AF, so I'm hoping the pills might help with hormones a bit. So far so good, no side effects at all 😊 I think they made me feel a bit yuck just before bed (I have to take at 7pm each night) but woke up this morning feeling grand. Have you taken your first dose yet?

Loz365 · 23/05/2022 07:20

@BritInNZ good that there hasn't been any side effects! I took my first dose last night and so far no side effects. Going to call the clinic this morning to book my scan!

BritInNZ · 23/05/2022 07:55

@Loz365 what CD will they want your scan? We might have scans on the same day! Mine is booked for 31 May at 8.15am (your evening 30 May).

Hopeislost · 23/05/2022 11:40

Welcome @Loz365 hopefully you'll get a good response starting on 5mg.

BFN here this morning. So just waiting for AF to arrive so I can start cycle #2.

Loz365 · 23/05/2022 18:45

@BritInNZ I've got my scan booked for 1st June! So day after you, and it'll be CD12. We've then got the 4 day bank holiday weekend so hopefully it'll show a good response at that scan!

@Hopeislost thanks for the welcome ☺️ sorry about the BFN. What's you story if you don't mind me asking? X

Hopeislost · 23/05/2022 19:06

Thanks @Loz365 I have PCOS and it took me 3 years to conceive DD3. Have been trying for a second since she was born.

First cycle of letrozole was 2.5mg day 2-6. Scan on day 13 showed 2 mature follicles, so I had a trigger shot. Had day 21 scan which confirmed both follicles had been released. I've got 6 funded rounds, so onto round 2!

Loz365 · 23/05/2022 20:22

@Hopeislost wow! I thought 17 months was long, 3 years must have been really tough. Did you use medication for your DD?

Great that it worked first time! I've also been told I can have 6 cycles on the NHS. Are they monitoring you again this cycle?

Daisy545 · 23/05/2022 20:47

Hi all

Hope you don't mind me jumping in. I have just finished A few days ago and have been ovulation testing but I am not sure why this has shown me a peak. Surely it's way too early for ovulation, on CD 9 now x

Daisy545 · 23/05/2022 20:47

Just finished Clomid*

BritInNZ · 23/05/2022 21:51

@Loz365 great that we're so similar with where we're at in the cycle! Let's keep in touch! Second night of letrozole and still feel fine. So happy I'm not getting side effects 😂

Loz365 · 24/05/2022 16:55

@Daisy545 hi! Looking at those OPKs it doesn't look like you've peaked yet. I think the app has just registered the high reading as a peak incorrectly. Keep testing! You want the first line to be darker than the second line 😊

@BritInNZ yes definitely! I've taken 2 doses so far and not noticed any side effects which is great. I've been using OPKs for the last few months and last month monitored BBT which seemed to confirm I ovulate so going to start monitoring those again once AF has disappeared. Are you doing anything similar? X

BritInNZ · 24/05/2022 19:58

@Loz365 I had a headache yesterday but not sure if it was letrozole or the fact work is disgustingly busy 😂 no I don't do any tracking. I did 3 months of BBT which showed I ovulate around day 17 but haven't bothered since. Figured the monitoring will tell me when I'm going to ovulate and we have enough sex to cover all bases anyway!

BritInNZ · 24/05/2022 19:59

@Loz365 oh and also I get ovulation spotting every month so that's the biggest indicator for me to DTD 😂

Hopeislost · 24/05/2022 21:15

@Loz365 Yes am being monitored for all cycles.

AF is here already - my cycles are usually 35+ days, but my first cycle on letrozole was 27!
