Treatment can restart for people who aren't fully vaccinated, apparently...

HJen22 · 05/03/2022 14:29

@2mumlife oh that's a shame it wasn't a very good quality photo! When do you next have a scan?

@itsmschanandlerbong doing ok thank you! Day 5 of stims and today add in the second injection! Had the strangest symptom today, clammy hands and I NEVER have hot hands, always cold! Had a few headaches and waking early but could definitely be worse. However it's early days so I'm thinking that may well be the case! How are you?

@Kamiros I'm so sorry you're still feeling so rough 😞 I'm glad you're taking the time to rest and sleep, you need to look after yourself. I really hope that over the next few days with your meds that your follicles continue to grow for a good number at egg collection 🤞🏻 thinking of you! The thought of our scan on Wednesday is filling me with anxiety and dread to see if anything is happening xx

Hi everyone, I'm moving back to Glasgow this Spring, but I'm already being treated at a clinic in Spain (and all my embryos are in the freezer here too). I'm looking for some advice on which clinics can do the pre-transfer (and post-transfer) checks and scans. The move Home Is already a massive stress, and finding a clinic so we can keep trying is giving me nightmares.

We've had 3 failed rounds of IVF so far and hoping that 4th time will be a charm!

Scirocco · 06/03/2022 19:59

Hi @noopsie, the private/self-funding Glasgow clinics are GCRM and Glasgow Royal Fertility clinic. There's also NHS services through the Assisted Conception Service at Glasgow Royal Infirmary - it's the same clinic as Glasgow Royal Fertility Clinic, just NHS instead of self-funding.

Both have good reputations as far as I can tell. I had treatment with the NHS at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and had a positive experience overall. Your personal circumstances might influence your choice of clinic - you may want to check your entitlement to NHS treatment (the standard in Scotland is that the NHS will fund 3 cycles if you have no children, but private treatments can impact upon that and I'm not sure if having lived abroad for a time might change things as well...).

I'd probably advise starting off by contacting the clinics directly for information and perhaps arranging consultations with them (they still offer virtual appointments as far as I'm aware).

I hope your move is as stress-free as possible!

noopsie · 06/03/2022 20:49

Thanks @Scirocco. I'm 42 so don't think Im entitled to any NHS help. When we were referred by our GP 3 years ago, we were told there was a 2 year waiting list so we've been preparing for it. We'd gone to the Nuffield for our fertility test but I don't think they're still doing IVF. Anyone, our embryos are in Spain so we're going to stick with our clinic there. It's just the scans and medication I need to figure out back home

Kamiros · 06/03/2022 21:52

Hi @noopsie I know GCRM do scans for cycles abroad but not sure whether it's just the clinics they have links with- worth asking them.

@HJen22 Hope you're doing ok. I think I might be out now as I've had some bleeding tonight. I also have ewcm though which suggests my E2 is up a bit, but still not confident.

2mumlife · 07/03/2022 11:18

@itsmschanandlerbong Its interesting it varies so much by area! Hopefully everything looks good at 32 weeks for you :)

@Kamiros Hope there is good news at scan today and you're able to go to egg collection

@HJen22 I have a cervical length scan in 2 weeks, and then 20 week scan is mid-April all being well

HJen22 · 07/03/2022 11:45

@Kamiros thinking of you and I hope it goes well today at your scan, sending all the positivity that this isn't you out and you make it to egg collection ❤️🤞🏻

Scirocco · 07/03/2022 12:39

Thinking of you @Kamiros - good luck for your scan!

Kamiros · 07/03/2022 12:42

Thank you. So the scan actually went well. I have 3 follicles at 15, 12 and 7. Still on the small side but they were 3, 7 and 12 on Friday so that's decent growth. I've bought 2 more days of meds and to go back on Wed for a further scan and possible trigger Wed night. I don't know what my E2 is but they said it was in line with the scan.

I mentioned the bleeding but she said there wasn't much there so not to worry, lining is a little thin - only 6.2mm but she said to put that to one side for now and just concentrate on getting some eggs. Finding it hard not to worry though as I'm still bleeding now, think I'll just need to see how Wed goes.

LT103 · 07/03/2022 15:12

Hi there. Just reading the updates on how everyone is doing. I joined this thread last year then hid from all fertility’s forums haha. Now everything is in full swing. Currently in day 6 of norethisterone and stims start a week today. I have anxiety kicking in now so hoping it’s all ok

LouScot · 07/03/2022 15:32

Glad to hear things are still going @Kamiros, that does seem like good growth. Fingers crossed for Wednesday.

@LT103 I know all about hiding fertility forums! Hope you're coping okay in the run up to the stims.

Kamiros · 08/03/2022 09:34

Hi @LT103 - Definitely been there, hope everything going ok for you.

Thanks @LouScot but I may have jinxed it. Full, heavy bleeding overnight. I've to go in for scan as normal tomorrow but no way of knowing if the follicles are compromised or not until then. She says it's a 50/50 chance. If we do get anything it'll def be a freeze all but I'm actually ok with that.

2mumlife · 08/03/2022 11:38

@Kamiros Hoping that the follicules are still good for collection. I actually have really preferred my FET over fresh transfers - it gives your body a chance to recover. Keeping everything crossed for you for tomorrow.

@LT103 Good luck with your upcoming cycle!

HJen22 · 09/03/2022 11:49

@Kamiros everything crossed for your scan today and that your follicles are still growing 🤞🏻❤️

Kamiros · 09/03/2022 12:11

@2mumlife and @HJen22 Thank you. I had a pleasant surprise today, I've bled for 2 full days now so was expecting the worst. I have an 18 and a 14, both still growing. I also have an 8 which has grown a little but is obviously too small. Waiting on the E2 results but think we are triggering tonight. My lining hasn't gone down much, still 6.2mm so they're not sure where the bleeding is coming from or why. Anything we get will be frozen but I feel better about that anyway.

@HJen22 Hope your scan goes well too.

HJen22 · 09/03/2022 13:21

@Kamiros I'm so so glad to hear it went well and things are still progressing ☺️ those follicles are determined and still going. Have you stopped bleeding?

I was so anxious before my scan. It went well though, the 6 on the right are growing (the nurse didn't give me any sizes which to be honest I think is better for me to know little), they found my left ovary but it's only got two small follicles on it. I'm back first thing Friday for another scan and it's looking like EC on Monday. I'm relieved the meds are doing something as I was so worried we'd go today and be told they weren't. Trying to take each day at a time and not worry too much but also not get my hopes up xx

LouScot · 09/03/2022 13:37

@Kamiros that's great news. 14 and 18 sound a good size. So if trigger is tonight collection will be Friday, is that right?

@HJen22 glad things going well with your cycle, good luck

HJen22 · 09/03/2022 13:40

@LouScot thank you 😊 how are you getting on with finding a donor? Any further progress?

Kamiros · 09/03/2022 15:24

@HJen22 @LouScot Thanks. So I've just had a message, scheduled for Friday, to be there for 7:30am, trigger tonight at 9 - which is way better than the 2am one I had last time.
Sounds like yours are progressing nicely - highly recommend taking a day at a time :)

HJen22 · 09/03/2022 15:43

@Kamiros that's great news, I'm really happy for you making it to EC after your cancelled cycle. You had to do a trigger at 2am?! Gosh I was saying to my OH today if it's 10pm he'll have to wake me haha I was sleeping by 8.30pm last night. Good that it's friday and you've the weekend to recover, unless you work over the weekend?

Thank you! The smaller two on my left might grow a bit but I knew that they'd likely be small, given my initial AFC when I went for HyCosy and scan was 6, and it wasn't found last week before stims. Praying that some good eggs come out of the follicles I have, and for you too, quality over quantity hopefully the case for us xx

Hopewishprayer · 09/03/2022 15:43

Hey - hope everyone is doing well!

We made it to transfer this round! 🙂 (last round 7 eggs, 3 mature but none viable for transfer)
This round change of protocol with lower numbers but one 3 day 8 cell embryo which was apparently “text book” so happy to at least have one!
Now I am 6dp3dt and beginning to get tempted to test - I know it’s far to early so I’m trying to hold off but it’s so hard, I don’t really have any symptoms other than feeling exhausted, trying not to worry that it hasn’t worked.

I’d be interested to know who had a day 3 transfer and did you test before OTD?
Also anyone with experience of an 8 cell day 3 embryo had success?

Kamiros · 09/03/2022 15:55

@HJen22 No I work Monday - Friday. I've taken Monday as leave too, just to have a few days but last time I felt fine a few hours after. Definitely quality that's important.

@Hopewishprayer Fantastic news. I had a 5 day transfer before, I think mine was only 6 cells on day 3. I didn't test but I started bleeding at 8dp5dt. Everything crossed for you.

HJen22 · 09/03/2022 16:02

@Kamiros yeah that's a good idea. I'll have the Monday and then I think see how I feel on the Tuesday, I still WFH so if I could just work by laptop in bed the Tuesday that would be nice as long as it's not too busy. The nurse said to me today quality over quantity so we just need to remember that xx

2mumlife · 10/03/2022 08:09

@Kamiros Might be your cervix bleeding? All those hormones can be disrupting it. Keeping everything crossed for a smooth egg collection tomorrow!!

@HJen22 Sounds like things are going well! I've also had a 2am trigger shot - not the most fun!

@Hopewishprayer Congratulations on making it to a transfer! :) I only did 5 day transfers no experience to share, but thinking of you. Stay strong and don't test - it never helps. If its negative you feel bad, and if its positive you start obsessing over line progression, so either way its actually MORE misery than just waiting it out to OTD.
