IUI 2022

Anyone looking to pursue IUI treatment in the new year?

I'm currently on cycle 18 with unexplained infertility and waiting for my NHS IVF referral appointment in January. In the meantime DH and I are looking to do some IUI cycles privately while we wait.

I have my baseline scan and consultation with Create Fertility next week.

@unCliche i’m feeling absolutely fine! I get waves of nausea every now and then but it could be from the progesterone or estrogen. I’ve had a fair bit of discharge yesterday and today but again it could be from the medication.

Trying to keep myself busy and think positive, my husbands sperm count after washing was 53 million and the nurse said that was super high, we DTD the following two days to increase our chances, praying luck is in our corner this month it’s been a long 26 months TTC!

Hi Ladies! New to the chat here. I had my first IUI this month. Currently 12 days post iui and period due tomorrow. I'm 99% sure ive got period cramps now but all last week I had so many cramps I hoped it was implantation and lots of white mucus but who knows!? All early tests have said BFN but still slightly hopeful....

unCliche · 28/03/2022 12:29

@Twittwoo2020 Ooo those symptoms sound promising! The new week is here so not too long to wait now before testing! You definitely deserve some good news! Trying for so long doesn't make the waiting easier does it? 😆 Let us know how you get on!

Welcome @Nellie90! How did you find the IUI process? Did you do medicated with trigger? Let's hope your BFP is just around the corner and you had a bit of a late implanter 🤞

@unCliche thank you for your message! I took clomid days 2-6 and then didn't need a trigger and inseminated on day 16. Today would be day 28 so who knows. Period might be around the corner or it could have been a later implantation week. The wait has killed me!! Grin. That was the only difficult part!! I'm in a SS couple so slightly more exciting process but also nerve racking as don't want to run out of money trying!

unCliche · 28/03/2022 19:48

@Nellie90 How did you find the clomid? I was on letrozole - I had a headache for a day but apart from that it was a pretty side-effect free cycle. Even my trigger shot was fine. How long are you cycles usually? Are you on progesterone? The wait is always the worst part but I suppose this is your first TWW?? When is your official test date?

@unCliche well if I'm honest, I didn't find it great!! My hormones were all over the place. I blubbed into my porridge for no reason and was super excited that next minute so I think I might try without. Had very bad headaches too and struggled to sleep but think it seems out of my system now. I'm not on progestogen or anything else. Don't appear to have any issues and have a very bang on 28 day cycle, just needed DS but I think my period will be here tomorrow unfortunately. I've always ovulated so I think I was a bit over stimulated and full of hormones 🤣. My official testing date is 18 days post iui which isn't until Sunday.

Shrut89 · 28/03/2022 23:47

Hi @unCliche thank you so much for your wishes, I have test day tomorrow but I have not even bought the freaking expensive test kit, I have all the symptoms of PMS. Let’s see what happens 😊

unCliche · 29/03/2022 11:36

@Nellie90 Haha aw! It's really crazy what the meds can do to us. At least you're over the worst of it now. Did AF show up today? 18DPIUI is so long 😱 Gosh, I hope you can hold out until then!

@Shrut89 Eeek not so long to wait now! Buy the kit! Buy the kit! Keep us updated!

@Shrut89 keeping my fingers crossed for you today!

Nellie90 · 30/03/2022 12:07

@unCliche it did arrive unfortunately 😔. Feeling disheartened but hopefully try again in April or May. Will go without clomid next time as don't want to deal with all the side effects. I know the chances aren't great but I did have high hopes but I suppose it's still only 20% chance without any issues (as far as I'm aware, no fertility issues) but hopefully better luck next time.

unCliche · 31/03/2022 15:48

@Nellie90 Oh, I'm so sorry! It's such a huge heartbreak when it doesn't work, take care of yourself and hopefully two attempts is all you'll need! April will be our month 🤞🤞🤞

@Shrut89 thinking of you lovely 💕

@Twittwoo2020 How are you getting on?

@Nellie90 sorry to see that your out for this month, fingers crossed for april.

@unCliche I am due to get my bloods tomorrow although i’m pretty sure i’m out, i did an internet cheapy this morning and it was a BFN. I’m feeling really unwell today sore back, head and just a heaviness everywhere. Literally had the flu last months and covid in december so can’t believe it’s a flu/cold again. Remaining optimistic for tomorrow for the bloods buts also being realistic on our chances of them coming back different to the home test!

Nellie90 · 01/04/2022 13:13

I think because of the Easter bank holidays it'll be May. But I think a month or two off will do me some good anyway ☺️. Thanks for the well wishes ❤️

Twittwoo2020 · 01/04/2022 15:16

Just got the call our cycle failed 😞 Disappointed but we’re just going to go straight back into it. Will start meds again next week when I get my bleed and have another cycle straight away! Fingers cross April will bring better luck!

Nellie90 · 01/04/2022 17:11

@twittwoo2020 sorry to hear it didn't work this month. Will you be having a break or going again next month?

Nellie90 · 01/04/2022 17:12

Sorry just re read and saw you're going straight away!! Lots of luck for next month ❤️

Shrut89 · 01/04/2022 19:58

It’s a big fat negative for me, I got my periods today, thank you so much lovelies for keeping me in your prayers, I am going for one last round of IUI this month and already set up an appointment with my clinic for IVF consultation in advance.

@Twittwoo2020 don’t be disheartened I are much more stronger than this and let keep our fingers crossed for the month of April.

I will let you all know how much IVF consultation goes with the doc and what plans she makes for us.

Shrut89 · 01/04/2022 20:00

@Nellie90 are you also going for IUI, what kind of protocol are you in? Mine is natural IUI just letrozole nothing else.

Nellie90 · 01/04/2022 20:43

Hey @Shrut89 I just had clomid for my first round and no trigger shot but after not getting on well with the side effects I'm going to go unmedicated. I always tested positive for ovulation but went for clomid to up the chances but don't want to go through that again so will try 2 more rounds unmedicated and then I'll most likely go back to the drawing board and think about adoption perhaps but let's wait and see what happens with the next two cycles first!

Shrut89 · 01/04/2022 20:59

@Nellie90 I am also kind of unmedicated as I ovulate on my own, my doc said if they give me any kind of trigger or injectable I will send up in multiples probably. I am so done with IUI this will be my last one in month of April.
Are you also from UK?

Nellie90 · 01/04/2022 21:17

@Shrut89 do you mind me asking how many rounds you've already done? I'm wondering if I should have gone straight for one IVF instead. I'm in the UK and in a SS couple so it's self funded. IVF was more expensive than 3 rounds of IUI and so much less invasive so that's why I went for it in the end.

Shrut89 · 01/04/2022 21:27

@Nellie90 I had 2 failed unmedicated IUI consecutively this will be my third, I am already set up for my IVF consultation with my doc if this last IUI works great if not heading straight to IVF. Here in Canada we have to find whole infertility process by ourselves it’s really heavy on our pockets.

Nellie90 · 01/04/2022 21:47

@Shrut89 all the best for round 3 and I hope you won't need the IVF. Let us know how you get on and sending you all the luck 💖

Shrut89 · 01/04/2022 21:54

Thank you so much @Nellie90, Are you planning for another IUI I read that you had many side effects with clomid, did you try checking with you clinic if they can give you Femara, I took it and had no side effects. Are you planning to go for adoption directly or consider IUI or IVF before it.
I am myself praying that I don’t have to go for IVF but it’s god’s will if it is then I will bear that pain for 15 or 20 days with open arms or may be it’s not bad for me as it’s for other I am being very optimistic and positive for IVF I think this is the best way to prepare mentally for it.

Nellie90 · 01/04/2022 22:05

I do need to speak to the clinic to talk to them about potentially different medication options. We've bought enough sperm for 2 more rounds of IUI so I think we'll be trying that and then if it doesn't work, have a break and think about different options regarding IVF or adoption. All the best 😊
