@GJW2018 yeah, it’s been frustrating even though I can’t really fault the staff they’ve been very helpful. It’s just the lack of contact with a consultant that makes matters difficult IMO.

I spoke to the nurse today and she said to talk to the doctor about concerns on the day, and that consultants do egg collections. So I will do that.

It really isn’t any different so I don’t understand why they’re so pushy for fresh. Why not err on the side of caution??? Anyway! EC is Friday morning, looking forward to getting in done now.

GJW2018 · 08/02/2022 11:33

@thislittlebird yes on Friday you will get a chance to speak to a doctor and I’m sure there are people that were expecting fresh that it’s then decided they have to have frozen so could make that point on the day. I’m not sure if the trigger affects it it’s just how your body responds which won’t matter if you’re having a frozen. This is so exciting for Friday! How have you been feeling on the meds? I know some of the girls said they felt like they were carrying around sacks of boulders by this point. I think I had 70 follicles at the scan before EC and I didn’t feel any different! But I suppose because my ovaries were used to carrying around 50 odd on a normal day so the extra 20 didn’t make any difference 😂

thislittlebird · 08/02/2022 11:47

@GJW2018 yeah, and if we only get 12 eggs maybe they won’t care? I dunno. It’s such a minefield. I know the HCG trigger I’ll be having basically exacerbates any OHSS which is fine, except IF the transfer works and then it will continue to worsen. It’s very frustrating.

I’m feeling ok on the meds tbh. I was on low doses and suspect if I’d been on higher I would have got more follicles growing but I didn’t want to risk if too high for my first attempt. Yeah I really don’t feel any different mostly. I’ve had a persistent bout of thrush from the hormones, that’s been the the worst part. I did wonder if I didn’t feel any different because there’s usually a few of them hanging out in there on a normal day. This month I had 24 at the start of the cycle, other months I’ve had 38 so it’s very unpredictable. 19 eggs are growing but really only 12 are safe bets at the moment. Tbh I’ll be happy with 12, I’m more worried about bad quality because of my age.

GJW2018 · 08/02/2022 12:08

@thislittlebird 12 is a great number and you will get more before Friday. That’s good that you haven’t been feeling too bad although thrush is a killer! I wouldn’t worry about the quality because out of at least 12 there will be some good ones I’m sure. I had to keep bringing myself back to the facts and away from the worst case scenario thinking, which is much easier said than done! But otherwise I went down a black hole of all of the possible outcomes and it was not helpful! Sending you lots of fertilisey thoughts for Friday! ✨

thislittlebird · 09/02/2022 09:00

@GJW2018 yeah worst case scenario is definitely on my mind, but hopefully it’ll be better than that! I will accept those thoughts, thank you 🙏

GJW2018 · 11/02/2022 07:01

Sending lots of positive thoughts for today @thislittlebird ✨✨✨✨

Etonmess20 · 11/02/2022 08:19

Good luck @thislittlebird

jusstjaee · 11/02/2022 09:21

@thislittlebird Best of luck today, hope all goes well ✨✨✨

Plantsandcoffee · 11/02/2022 11:14

Good luck @thislittlebird

thislittlebird · 11/02/2022 14:32

Thanks everyone! We got 15 eggs so fingers crossed some manage to fertilise.

Went for five guys after, I really enjoyed that milkshake and now in the cab home!

thislittlebird · 12/02/2022 10:10

Update from me: we got 15 eggs yesterday, 13 were suitable for fertilisation and 9 fertilised. Back in on Wednesday to find out how many remain and have one transferred, all being well. Such a surreal process!

jusstjaee · 12/02/2022 10:26

@thislittlebird Well Done this is great news!! So happy for you... I continue to have my fingers crossed that everything continues to go well. How are you feeling?

I had my medication delivered last week and now just waiting for my app on the 22nd providing AF comes when it's meant to.

GJW2018 · 12/02/2022 12:36

Woohoo @thislittlebird that’s so exciting! Hope you get lots of rest this weekend and will be PUPO this time next week! ✨✨✨

thislittlebird · 12/02/2022 18:21

@jusstjaee thanks! I hope it goes well, my fingers are crossed. I’m ok but definitely a bit bloated today. Hoping that will go away rather than get worse.

Nice! What meds will you be on? My AF was late but they were good at working with me.

@GJW2018 thanks 🙏 I’m at home on the sofa and might take Monday off too. I’m drinking water, electrolyte drinks and keeping up the protein because I am worried ohss will come on but hopefully not.

jusstjaee · 13/02/2022 18:35

@thislittlebird Glad your feeling ok minus the bloating.

That's a relief in regards to if a AF comes later then stated but I'm or more or less on time give or take a day.

I'm going to be taking
Menopur
Fyremadel
Ovitrelle
Cyclogest

Was you on any of these? X

thislittlebird · 14/02/2022 12:24

@jusstjaee I was on all of them bar menopur and honestly felt fine. Don’t forget your ice pack, particularly for fyremadel. I’ve felt rough since EC but the injections were ok.

Etonmess20 · 14/02/2022 12:33

@jusstjaee I took all of those meds & I was fine too, a bit of bloating but to be expected. Not sure if you're doing your injections yourself but my DP did all of mine & it really helped. Also didn't need to ice it but everyone's different! Good luck with everything

@thislittlebird really good numbers, everything crossed for you for Wednesday! I found the transfer super underwhelming, literally was expecting confetti, banners, the lot but it took about 5 minutes all in all 😂😂

Hope everyone else is doing well ❤️

thislittlebird · 14/02/2022 13:00

@Etonmess20 I’m stressed about the transfer, I’m glad to hear it only takes a few minutes. Taking dh with me in case it’s bad news about the 9 still in the running.

I’m not great today. My asthma has been really bad and I’ve had a cough. Clinic told me to go to urgent care or a&e but I don’t really fancy that, so a GP is going to call me instead. LFTs negative, I can’t work out if I’ve caught a cold, or chest infection (side effect of some anaesthetics from a Google). I’m hoping it’s just coincidence and the transfer will still be ok for Wednesday.

On the plus side the post-EC bloating seems to have improved today.

Etonmess20 · 14/02/2022 13:19

@thislittlebird you're bound to be worried but it's very easy, probably the easiest & quickest appointment. Just to warn you, you will have to put a gown on & go in the back into like a procedure room (I wasn't expecting this). They scan you while they insert the catheter with the embryo on. Think there was 4 people in the room when mine was done but everyone was super chatty & happy & really helped to calm me. I also wrote down what they told me about the other embryos as I knew I'd forget. Got everything crossed for you. I took no news as good news btw, if there was no embryos left they'd have called to cancel your transfer.

Sorry to hear you've not been well, hope the GP can help & you're feeling better soon 🙏🏼 take care of yourself & rest up

jusstjaee · 15/02/2022 09:26

@thislittlebird Thank you, I guess the hospital didn't supply the ice packs then will pick one up just so I have it incase but will try without first and see how I get on.

Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well, hope your feeling better now if only slightly

@Etonmess20 Ahh thank you, I have been a little worried about reactions because the last thing I want to feel is rough during injections but will embrace what ever comes my way just happy to finally be starting after what's feels like years of waiting.

Sorry if I have missed this but where are you currently at with treatment?

Etonmess20 · 15/02/2022 09:35

@jusstjaee I personally found the waiting was the hardest part & didn't find the treatment itself too horrendous, but everyone's different.
I had a full cycle with fresh transfer last August (1st cycle) & am currently nearly 28 weeks pregnant

jusstjaee · 15/02/2022 09:57

@Etonmess20 aww no way sorry there's so many lovely comments I always miss some. Massive Congratulations to you and yours 🥰 🥰 🥰 🥰 🥰 🥰 🥰 🥰 hope everything is going well with pregnancy. Such lovely news!

Yes honestly it's been a long time coming just grateful we are nearly there to finally begin

thislittlebird · 16/02/2022 18:00

So we didn’t have the transfer in the end and did a freeze all. But the good news is of our 9 that fertilised we have 3 good quality blasts and 2 that are a day behind, they’re going to update me on those tomorrow so I’ll count it as 3 and anything more is a bonus. We went in hoping for one tbh because of the male factor so we’re more than happy with three.

jusstjaee · 16/02/2022 18:53

@thislittlebird awww that's great news, hopefully the other two will catch up.

If you don't mind me asking how comes you with went with a freeze all was it by choice?

thislittlebird · 16/02/2022 19:07

@jusstjaee not entirely, I haven’t been very well since Saturday and decided with doctor it was better to go ahead when I was feeling a bit better than I currently am.
