@LuckyNovember what rubbish! Of course there are different protocols and different meds. Sounds like they triggered a bit too early as well. Wouldn’t blame you for trying a new clinic. Are you near A big city? Is there a good range of clinics near you?

Pinklady81 · 26/03/2022 09:49

@LuckyNovember it's rubbish I so empathise with Joe you are feeling we are doing ICSI too due to borderline morphology and severe endo on my part I'm 41 in a few weeks and starting to think should I call it quits now after the first round it's cost so much and I feel so guilty that everyone has contributed towards financing this and to be left with 1 frostie that potentially isn't great.... I'm going to try switch off and I will have a thousand questions to ask my doctor when they get in touch did they review you quickly after your first round? Xx

LuckyNovember · 26/03/2022 10:02

I live overseas, @Bryterlayter1 with good healthcare but also additional layers of complication and not a very customer service approach! Was considering flying into London for treatment at this stage; just to follow with a clinic that's a bit more able to give me options and explain things to me. The stress of organising it all might be overwhelming though... I think that's a decision for when I'm a bit calmer, but happy to hear recommendations 🙂

LuckyNovember · 26/03/2022 10:07

@Pinklady81 ironically i had been finding this round much less stressful and a lot smoother than the first. The first one was horrible for me, the next one is easier in terms of logistics, if not necessarily in terms of results 🤦🏻‍♀️
Yours did make it to blast, and good enough to freeze; I think they don't freeze D grades (one of ours from last round was a day 6 blast but not good enough quality to freeze), so it's at least CC, and they can make babies 😉

Pinklady81 · 26/03/2022 10:09

They didn't even give me grade though they said they have discussed as a team what to do and it's been frozen I was a bit numb so just said okay and that was that. I'm hoping something may happen next cycle but at the minute I feel like it's not worth it but got to change my mindset around xx

LuckyNovember · 26/03/2022 10:10

@Pinklady81 sorry, forgot to answer your question! Yes, I had OTD/BFN on the Friday and met with the doctor the following Wednesday. I was on the next pre-treatment 3 weeks later to start again....

99pctpractice · 27/03/2022 11:13

@LuckyNovember and @Pinklady81 so sorry you didn't get the results you wanted so far, but fingers crossed that those little embryos mean you're still in with a chance of a pregnancy at the end of the process. Sending hugs!!

Cherry35 · 28/03/2022 05:35

Hi @LuckyNovember

Hopefully all the embies will survive, don't lose hope yet.

If your dr can't give you different protocols I would definitely change. In my last 2 stims I have noticed that when they extend stimming just a couple of days I get 2 more large follicles. Instead of collecting on CD12 they do on CD14 or CD15.

Some women do primers which means using hormones earlier before CD1. I used it this time (Testosterone cream) but still to see if it improved outcomes. Apparently it only helps 50% women to have more follicles. Women respond different to different stim medicines so another one could be better for you. Unfortunately is a bit of try and see which one suit you best but your dr should be willing to try.

Do you take 2 trigger shots? This helps the eggs to mature. Many clinics do only 1 but I've found 2 is better for me.

Melatonin is a powerful antioxidant as well.

Take care of yourself in these stressful times ❤.

Cherry35 · 28/03/2022 05:39

@Pinklady81

In my clinic they don't like much giving gradings. They emphasize that if they freeze them is because the embryo is good enough to become a baby.

However, when I press they do give the gradings but it's something they avoid.

Hopeful199 · 28/03/2022 09:47

Morning all!

Im so sorry it is not better news for you both @Pinklady81 and @LuckyNovember. If we were to look for positives though then @pinklady81 - they must think it is strong enough for a transfer at some point otherwise they wouldn't freeze it. Hopefully they can also tweak some things for your next cycle in the hope of getting a few extra embryos.

@luckynovember - I know that is not the outcome you hoped for. But just to give you hope, I know 2 ladies that had early transfers and are both very pregnant.... one of them transferred on day 2! It is definitely worth a try.

Unfortunately not good news for me this week :( I tested positive for covid on Friday so had to cancel my transfer booked for today! So so gutted! I have actually tested negative this morning but still feeling rough so probably for the best. Now back to the beginning for me...... it is the waiting i hate the most!!!! Argh!!

@Bryterlayter1 glad to hear all is going well for you..... hopefully some more good news stories on here soon!

LuckyNovember · 28/03/2022 13:54

Dears, thanks so much for all your support, you're lifesavers 🧡💛

@Hopeful199 oh you poor thing, you must be gutted 😞 All the waiting is so brutal!

@Pinklady81 I Hope you're feeling a bit better after the weekend. I hope things will turn in your favour very soon 🙂

@Bryterlayter1 @99pctpractice thank you so much for your encouragement!!

@Cherry35 This is great advice, thank you... I will definitely push for different options next time

AFM, Here's a bit of a twist... when I went for ET today, it turned out the 2 embryos that hadn't fertilised correctly, had somehow recovered and caught up 😳 I'm in shock, I can't believe it, it feels like the first time anything's gone in our favour for all of our TTC 🥲 they transferred 2 "very good" embryos and the third is in culture to see if it will go to blast!!

Pinklady81 · 28/03/2022 14:01

Yeah@LuckyNovember that's amazing news tbh I have tried to forget everything this weekend my work at the moment is really really intense I'm a teacher and I'm not sure if I'm coming or going I feel like I'm doing such a bad job in all aspects of my life at the minute compounded with the news this weekend today has not started well and I feel so very sad 😢

Bryterlayter1 · 28/03/2022 14:23

@LuckyNovember what fantastic news! This has got to be a good sign. Fingers crossed that this is your cycle. Hope you have some activities planned to help you through the tww, when is your OTD?

Cherry35 · 28/03/2022 14:25

@LuckyNovember

That's incredible news!!! My best wishes and may they turn out in a successful twin pregnancy.

LuckyNovember · 28/03/2022 14:28

I really hear you @Pinklady81
I feel like I'm a bad friend, a bad wife, bad at my job, out of shape and just generally cutting corners EVERYWHERE to be able to cope with this process.... my guilty secret is that I want it to work so badly, obviously because I want a baby, but nearly as much because I just don't want to keep doing this because it's so hard 😢

I'm used to BFNs (unfortunately, aren't we all 😉), but I swear my first cycle BFN made me cry because I knew I'd have this shit all again...

I get through it by imagining the day when I never have to think about IVF ever again 😊

LuckyNovember · 28/03/2022 14:29

Thanks @Cherry35 @Bryterlayter1 OTD is 8th April... DH's birthday 🥳

Turning40andstartingIVF · 28/03/2022 14:57

Hi. I'm just starting the IVF journey. Will be starting injections in April. All collected and at home waiting. I'm 40 in the summer and terrified that this is my only chance after 15 years trying! Yep... 15 years. Long story but this really is my last hope and I'm terrified xx

99pctpractice · 28/03/2022 15:13

Hooray! Excellent news @LuckyNovember so many fingers crossed that this was your lucky transfer! Well done those little embryos :o)

Cherry35 · 29/03/2022 01:30

Hi all,

I just had my EC and it's devastating. I had 8 eggs collected, all mature but DH didn't have sperm on his ejaculation (1st time ever) and had to do testicular biopsy.

I got the call today and only 1 fertilized. I feel awful. First time we got 8 mature eggs and sperm is bad. Embryologist said egg was of varying quality but so did last time when i had 3 5day embryos out 5 mature eggs. Devastating news.

We have MFI but last stim sperm was average, like a normal man but only 1 egg and now 8 eggs but no good sperm. 😭

LuckyNovember · 29/03/2022 07:20

Oh @Cherry35 I'm sorry, you poor thing!!! It's so fucked up that this is all so unpredictable 😢

I was in a similar spot - for different reasons - just a couple of days ago; 9 eggs and 1 fertilised... (we're also MFI but looks like my eggs aren't great either!), and some of the ladies on here shared some really encouraging stories with me... it really helped me a lot. 3 blasts is fab from your last round, but one good one will be even better 😊

I was reeling... I couldn't understand how our luck could be so horribly bad, and I'd already started thinking about the next cycle. It was really brutal, I cried and I moped around and I manically googled... and after a day or two the shock wore off and I felt back to normal... you will as well 🙂

Rooting for your embryo to do well 🧡

Bryterlayter1 · 29/03/2022 11:24

@Cherry35 on that's so very sad. I'm really sorry this has happened to you. I have all my fingers and toes crossed that the 1 embryo will continue to go strong.

LT103 · 29/03/2022 13:09

@Cherry35 so sorry you’re having such a tough time. Crossing everything for that 1 little embryo. Hoping it’s a good one!!!

LT103 · 29/03/2022 13:10

We got our day 5 update today and out of our 9 eggs, we have 7 frozen embryos. I can’t believe it!!
We’re now back to the waiting game until we can do our first FET. it’s looking like may/June but will depend on how soon we can get consents done etc

Hopeful199 · 29/03/2022 15:48

Oh @Cherry35 I am so sorry to hear what happened. That is such a tough situation but everything is crossed that your one embryo is a golden one. It really is such a shitty process. Sending lots of hugs your way.

@LuckyNovember great news on the double transfer. Absolutely everything crossed for you. Enjoy PUPO...... fingers crossed you get those good news lines very soon!

Welcome @Turning40andstartingIVF - it can all feel a bit daunting to begin with but I promise the process is not too bad. Just take each step as it comes and focus on looking after yourself throughout it. Lots of lovely ladies on here happy to help and impart wisdom!

@LT103 Great news about the embys! May will come round quicker than you know so great time to get yourself feeling ready and relaxed.

I had my transfer cancelled due to covid. good news is that AF arrived quite quickly after stopping the drugs, I have tested negative for the lat 2 days so I can start the meds again tomorrow! I have bypassed the baseline scan and looks like the transfer may well be on my 40th birthday!!! Eek!!!!!! Fingers crossed that is a positive sign from the universe!?!?!?!? what a rollercoaster of a week!

I AM SOOOO OVER COVID!!!!!!!

LuckyNovember · 29/03/2022 15:56

🤣 @Hopeful199 I think that's a great omen!! It will be your birthday, which should be lucky... and while you may be 40, the eggs will be 39 😉
