@Etonmess20 it would be good if this changed!
There were definitely partners in for egg collection when I went in last week and when I had to wait half an hour (and neck 2L water) after my first transfer attempt the nurse said to call my partner up and get him to wait with me. But the rules seem quite unclear…

EmJay19 · 13/07/2021 12:30

@WNorwoodJess congrats great news!
Was it your first attempt after having your little one? My DS is 20 months and I’ve just had first fet

becarefuloutthere · 13/07/2021 12:39

On the partners front. Dh was allowed to come to the scan by showing a negative Covid test at reception.

Etonmess20 · 13/07/2021 12:44

@Vparisi oh you'll definitely be needing the coffees for the commutes! Do you get to choose the days or will you be told which days you're needed in? It is a massive waste of time, we used to commute an hour door to door each way & have so much more time to exercise, relax etc. Although think our situation was a bit unique in that we work at the same company so 9 times out of 10 would commute together.
That's interesting about baseline scan, wasn't aware of that but makes sense. That's also when they teach you about injections too isn't it? My DP is just going to come to everything & if he gets told to go & sit in the waiting area/downstairs in reception then so be it.
Ughhhhh I just need them to bloody call now, I'm really really really hoping for August treatment so I can be with you both 🙏🏼 probably be no august spaces left knowing my luck!
Really hope you get to the bottom of freeze all too - our situations aren't particularly different to explain why you'd be freeze all & I wouldn't & also think it's bad that it wasn't even discussed at your appointment!

WNorwoodJess · 13/07/2021 13:31

@EmJay19 thank you. Yes, we had 3 frozen embryos from our one and only ivf round that gave us a daughter. Just had one implanted for this first FET and it seems to have stuck. But a long road yet…

EmJay19 · 13/07/2021 13:52

@WNorwoodJess you’ve done all the hard work now!

HereToLearnAndShare · 13/07/2021 18:44

@WNorwoodJess congrats! Its great to see another successful Guys story here ☺️
I am quite far as I havent started my first cycle yet, but I was wondering what the process looks like when you decide to have a second baby?
Is there a waiting list again? If the first transfer was NHS funded, how much does the second teansfer cost?

@HereToLearnAndShare Hello. So our process for our first baby was getting referred to Guys, being funded for one round, got lucky with the first go fresh with 3 frozen afterwards and then had the baby at Kings. Second (this) time, no waiting list per se but I really had to chase. We chose natural so no drugs. You never get funded for a second child so had to pay. £1400. Had a scan then booked the FET. Took about 6 months overall but covid had affected things. Does that help? I rate Guys but their comms leave a lot to be desired. Terrible follow ups, you have to be on them.

HereToLearnAndShare · 13/07/2021 20:46

@WNorwoodJess Thank you so much for the information! Yes, it helps. Good luck with the test ☺️

@Etonmess20 I do hope they still have a spot for for you in Aug! They should call you by the end of the week.

@HereToLearnAndShare thank you, I really really hope so 🙏🏼 have you heard about your meds yet?

HereToLearnAndShare · 13/07/2021 22:15

@Etonmess20 not yet. I will call Fertility2you tomorrow to check. It should be fine as I still have 4 weeks before starting, but want to make sure they have ordered them.

Hi guys! :) thank you for support. It was very stressful to rush back in, and the phone call was actually from doctor (not admin) so I got very annoyed when got there and obviously the had frozen the embryo just fine and I could have avoided taking public transport one day after transfer day 🤦🏻‍♀️ anyway

@HereToLearnAndShare if useful, what happened with me it's that I told them to go ahead and order medications on 22/05. If they ordered them for you already, Then Fertility2u will contact you to create an account and decide the delivery date etc. They did it super quickly for me. Got email on 25/5, arranged for delivery by phone, they dispatched on 26/05 and I got them on 27/05. First email said:

@GJW2018 it was the HIV, hepatitis etc one that they did on 29/03, basically when they decide protocol and put you on the list to start 2/3 months after. As We actually started on 22/06, blood results were older than 3 m.o. by the time we needed to freeze embryo on the 11/07 🤷🏻‍♀️

morganablue · 13/07/2021 23:08

@WNorwoodJess that is lovely news!

@becarefuloutthere yay for the scan! How are u feeling? :)

@Etonmess20 fingers crossed they call you this week to start in August!

morganablue · 13/07/2021 23:11

@Vparisi that's a bit crap. I have been working form office during treatment and it was not pleasant (including commute). I also cut coffe to one cup, so I was actually dangerous 😂 as full of hormones, I had to take few little steps out of office not to kill colleagues! :)

HereToLearnAndShare · 14/07/2021 10:34

Just spoke with Fertility 2you. They received the order yestarday afternoon and will be in touch with me next week to arrange the delivery date. So all good but it worthed checking 🙂

Girls i am at my scan now and waiting to be booked in for egg collection - im slightly freaking out because she said everything looks good but I only had 6 one side and 2 on the other ready to go! i feel really dissapointed as i just assumed i'd have more 😭 Has anyone else had this but then got more at egg collection ? xxx

EmJay19 · 14/07/2021 10:43

@Welshpea really got to remember it’s quality not quantity! My husband always saying this to me when I have similar freak outs and he’s right!
Good luck!

Welshpea · 14/07/2021 10:48

@EmJay19 Just had my freak out over text with my husband and he just said exactly the same thing. hate it when he right and he knows it too 😂😂😂

I feel more worried that there is actually something wrong even though they have never found anything.

The nurse said I have some fluid in a bit of my lining so it might mean we can do a fresh transfer. It's the first time i've had a scan and they've seen that and I feel like over the years i've had a million

Welshpea · 14/07/2021 10:49

can't *

becarefuloutthere · 14/07/2021 12:03

@WNorwoodJess my story sounds like yours! With the first round anyway. Hope we get success if we go for a second time again. We'll be moved by then though so not sure we'll travel bk into London for it, will likely find a clinic closer to where we're moving to. So pleased all worked out for you!
@morganablue feel sick still but very happy all looked good. Still not in the all clear just yet tho, 4 more weeks until then! How are you?
@Welshpea best of luck today! That's still a good amount, hopefully they collect them all! Good news on the fresh too, let us know how you got on x

EmJay19 · 14/07/2021 12:26

@Welshpea that’s annoying. I wonder what fluid means? There’s always something 🤦🏻‍♀️

Vparisi · 14/07/2021 15:14

@Etonmess20 we can choose but have been told it must be a min of 2 Fridays a month so it isn't a ghost town Friday ha. So I got a call from the ACU yesterday arvo. She said yes I do have an appointment scheduled from the 9th but there is no paperwork around me starting so it was showing me as top of the waiting list. Very comforting organisational system from people about to handle your embryos.. Anyway I got a serious haul of meds yesterday! I have attached the picture. Tried to watch the instruction videos but they didn't work so will wait for my scan. I also asked about the freeze all and got some clarity - so she said not necessarily a freeze all and if things are going well for me I can do a fresh but she said they had a discussion after my appt on the notes and the opinion is they think it is going to be very risky for me. She said it isn't about weight or low BMI but more around people who have had too many laparotomies and have a lot of adhesions and fluid etc it can get very serious. So they have it down that the senior doctor will do all the appts with more frequent scans. So at least I have some answers but now feeling a bit stressed. Have you not had your call yet still???

@morganablue ugh that must suck, not looking forward to it. I was back to 2 coffees today anyway. I would def be dangerous too!

@Welshpea crossing my fingers for you, best of luck x

Etonmess20 · 14/07/2021 15:32

@Vparisi oh wow that is a lot of meds!! So daunting! Does a lot need to go in the fridge? (Wondering how we'll find the room!)

Jesus Christ 🤦🏼‍♀️ they do concern me with some of the stuff they come out with but glad you got clarity around the freeze all. The doctor said to us that it's always a risk that they may have to do that - so surely they're just saying the same for you? Just maybe more of a risk? Not really sure why they put in the letter you would definitely have to have that if that isn't the case 🤷🏼‍♀️ seems to have caused a lot of unnecessary confusion!

Nope, still no call.....😔 each day that passes I feel August is more unrealistic & my cycle is due to begin August 5th. Just worried they'll have no spaces & it'll end up being September anyway. Not like I can chase either as they said this week/early next!
