Hello 👋🏼!! About to embark on the absolutely terrifying process of IVF in June (once my next cycle finishes) and though it might be nice to get chatting to some people going through the same? Meds due tomorrow and bloods booked in for Saturday - Let me know if you are in the same boat would be great to get some support from some fellow infertility warriors ❤️x

@Ofpalestsilver one of the bits I CAN remember about today is the suppository being shoved in. Of all the things to stick in my head...! Haha!

I start cyclogest pessaries tmw, 1 morning and 1 evening. Not looking forward to it. I also have IBS but they’ve said I go either front or back, whichever I’m more comfortable with.

Coops0406 · 09/06/2021 20:46

@busybee2102 I actually have felt fine, didn't need painkillers and haven't really felt any different. I'm thinking perhaps as there wasn't much going on it was less invasive and less recovery for my ovaries maybe? What are the antibiotics for?

@RiverRiot thank you...I really hope so! Ooh, pizza! I had super noodles and a non alcoholic cider! Terrible I know! 🤦🏾‍♀️

@Ofpalestsilver I think it means 10 days past 5 day transfer!
Luckily my pessaries are not for the bum! But my friend says it's less messy up the bum!

RiverRiot · 09/06/2021 20:47

@Ofpalestsilver Lolz! 😂😂 I’m sure the Dr is totally used to it though and at least they’re getting paid for it eh?! 🤣

I’m on 2 cyclogest pessaries a day. Could you try them vaginally if they’re upsetting your IBS? I always thought you could choose which orifice you pop them in but my nurse recommended vaginally. Although I hear this is messier. Yay. 🙄

I think 10dp5dt means “10 days post 5 day transfer” which equates to 15DPO if it was a natural cycle. 🤓

Ofpalestsilver · 09/06/2021 20:49

@busybee2102 @Coops0406 I was told back only til transfer is done. Weird. I prefer doing the front (which I did for IUI).

And super noodles not too bad. I had a McDonalds cos… f*ck it. Out of all the variables I can say with almost certainty that this is not going to not work just cos I ate a Big Mac one day!

Ofpalestsilver · 09/06/2021 20:51

@RiverRiot I was specifically told to do back rather than front until after the transfer for some reason. Once I get there I can do the front. I had to do it once a day after IUI which I normally did while lying down. Might be messier for the day time ones.

Ofpalestsilver · 09/06/2021 20:51

Oh & thanks for the explanation. So my test day is likely to be 10 days after transfer??

busybee2102 · 09/06/2021 20:55

@Coops0406 It’s to prevent any infection, as a prophylaxis the consultant said. I’m on immunosuppressants for a type of arthritis so that might be why?

busybee2102 · 09/06/2021 20:56

@Ofpalestsilver My clinic said that my test day will be 11 days after the transfer, if we get that far.

Coops0406 · 09/06/2021 21:00

@Ofpalestsilver mine comes with an applicator! I was most impressed! I start tomorrow night, if the eggs fertilise!

@busybee2102 ah right. How long will you need to take them for?

RiverRiot · 09/06/2021 21:09

@Ofpalestsilver Ah I suppose that makes sense, if it is quite messy and they’re going back in there, might make it easier for them?

@busybee2102 I think my clinic is 11 days after transfer too. Feels quite late if that’s technically 16DPO but I suppose it’s to remove any doubt one way or the other.

Ofpalestsilver · 09/06/2021 21:20

@RiverRiot yeah think that’s the case. They said something about the coating blocking the cervix or something!

busybee2102 · 09/06/2021 21:30

@Coops0406 Five days of two different types. The nurse said ‘yes of course you can have a cheeky glass of wine on Saturday, make the most of it while you can’ then the consultant said ‘nope here are two types of giant antibiotics, no cheeky wine for you!’

@RiverRiot I think they make us wait to ensure that the trigger is out of our systems? I read it can take up to 14 days for some people, so helps to avoid false positives?

PurpleUnicorn01 · 09/06/2021 22:40

Well i have all this to look forward too. I just got told about the bum progesterone today and nearly died of shock. Just waiting for AF then hopefully I can start my treatment

Phahaha. Welcome to the bum club, just when you thought infertility couldn’t get any more invasive! 🙈

@busybee2102 Ah that sucks about the wine. It didn’t even occur to me to have a cheeky one tbh and a bloody love a drink me! And of course, I totally forgot about the trigger.
Have you and @Coops0406 had your call today yet?

@Ofpalestsilver Yep you’re right. Just got a call from the embryologist who said to do the pessary several hours before transfer or, you know, pop them up the butt.

Interestingly, of our IVF/ICSI split exactly the same amount of each fertilised so will be interesting to see how they develop over the next few days. Now the next lot of waiting begins... 😬

busybee2102 · 10/06/2021 11:03

Morning all :)

Great news about the fertilisation @RiverRiot
Re the wine, I wasn’t that bothered but it’s a friend’s birthday BBQ on Saturday so would’ve been nice! I can do without, particularly as there are so many decent non-alcoholic beers around now that do not the spot.

We had our call about 30 minutes ago. Of the 8 eggs they retrieved, 6 were mature and treated using ICSI, and miraculously all 6 have fertilised normally for this stage Smile can’t quite believe it. Next call will be Saturday for a day 3 update and I’m booked in for ET on Monday so fingers crossed.

However, the pessaries can do one. Oh my god. I put the first one in this morning (back) and I can’t say that it’s making me think that anything else up there could be fun.... haha!!!!

The two different types of strong anti bios are also making me feel a bit sick, but for the moment I’m so happy about my little 6 that I can mostly ignore it.

Coops0406 · 10/06/2021 11:36

@busybee2102 and @RiverRiot great news for you guys! That's amazing!

We had our phone call, more tears again! Both eggs mature and both fertilised - one got fertilised normally and the other with 2 sperm (turns out OH does have super sperm! Lol) so unfortunately it's abnormal. So considering where we started, we're so over the moon with our one tiny glimmer of hope...it's going to be a long 5 days ahead but just got to keep the faith 🤞🏾😍

PurpleUnicorn01 · 10/06/2021 12:19

Yay that's great news at @Coops0406

Im still awaiting AF to arrive grrrr! Lol

Coops0406 · 10/06/2021 13:01

Thanks @PurpleUnicorn01 it was a relief! Still a long way to go but keeping everything crossed!
So annoying the wait for AF!!! When were you expecting it? Any signs of being on her way? I actually had no signs, normally I have warning but last time it just took me by surprise so hopefully it will be here soon and you can get going!

RiverRiot · 10/06/2021 13:06

@Coops0406 Wow I didn’t even know that was possible, super sperm indeed! I have absolutely every appendage crossed for your little glimmer of hope.

@busybee2102 Literally laughed so much! 😂 I mean each to their own and all that but yeah I did have the same thought with my painkilling one. And I can already see what everyone was talking about with the front entrance too, guess who’s off to buy more pantyliners today. 🙋🏻‍♀️
Also, excellent news on your 6! Vicariously looking forward to hearing your day 3 update as I think I literally have to wait til I’m at the hospital on Monday. I flipping hope they’d ring me beforehand though if it’s terrible news.

@PurpleUnicorn01 Good luck for AF, hope she gets her arse in gear - no pun intended.

PurpleUnicorn01 · 10/06/2021 13:07

@Coops0406 i know!! Yes ive had some spotting im due any day now from today. Just want to it to arrive to see if i can start this cycle. Argh! I hope all goes well for you

PurpleUnicorn01 · 10/06/2021 13:09

@RiverRiot loll. Me too. I hope you're well.

Wow! I did not know that such super sperm could do that. Got everything crossed for you!

Tealismycolour · 10/06/2021 14:13

Got our day 3 call today. All 13 embryos are still going strong, with 12 of them Grade A. They say the biggest tail off will happen over the next few days and to wait for our day 5 update on Saturday. Those that are ready on day 5 will be frozen. As I’m not having a fresh transfer things don’t seem to be as urgent so if some aren’t developing well on that day they will leave them to day 6 and day 7.

As I’ve never been pregnant before (in the over 4 years of ttc) and this all seems to be going well so far, we are suspecting an issue with implantation rather than anything else. Willing my embryos to keep on growing 🤞🏻

PurpleUnicorn01 · 10/06/2021 14:28

@Tealismycolour that is great news. Thinking of you. Hope they keep growing well.

Ofpalestsilver · 10/06/2021 15:34

@busybee2102 are your antibs up the bum as well, haha :P

I got my day 3 update and all 9 are dividing normally but at different speeds. Still my lovely egg and my hub's super sperm seems to be creating some fab ferties (that's my new term!)

ET still happening on Saturday. Fingers crossed that we have a good freshie and some frosties. Feeling very lucky today.

@PurpleUnicorn01 It'll be here before you know it and you'll be on your way. Whee!
