IVF - egg collection June (starting down regulation in May)

Hi ladies, would be great to chat to anyone who is about to start down regulation, in prep for stims later in the month and egg collection early June.

I start Norethisterone tomorrow. Will be at UCLH/CRGH, first ever IVF. We have MFI.

Mostly terrified of the needles! I have this irrational fear that I could puncture an organ - someone tell me that's not possible?! lol

@Coops0406 that's amazing! Means they will definitely be keeping a good eye on it. I'm just with my local Fertilty clinic (nhs) so nothing like that with mine. Awwww I'm so jealous! Dying to go to the beach for a long walk and an Icecream haha! Enjoy ur weekend ❤️❤️ x

@ivf2021 we are nhs too but we paid for the add on under their recommendation because I was expected to produce loads of eggs and not all would be great quality so essentially it was to choose and grade the best. Now we only have this one it does seem like a bit of a waste, however the way I look at it now with my positive spin is that if this little one makes it we have a video from the very beginning!
How are you feeling today?

I randomly had some spotting yesterday, I hope from the egg collection the day before...has anyone else had that after EC?

@Coops0406 that's a great way of looking at it!! I'm the same we've opted for the added imaging option and though we've been invoiced (£620!) I'm reluctant to pay it just yet till at least I've had a scan this morning see how things are developing!! Couldn't sleep on my side last night too uncomfortable so I'm genuinely hoping that's a good sign 😬x

@Coops0406 aww that is a lovely way of thinking of it ❤️ I'm ok thank you! I had spotting and was really sore on the day of egg collection but feel fine now. Sorry for tmi but only thing is im soooo constipated the nurse said that could be a side effect. How are u feeling? I think the pessaries can cause bloating cramping and spotting from what I've read.

@Coops0406 I'm day nine so one injection in the am and one in the pm and antibiotic cream up my lady bits overnight - first scan this morning so hopefully will get a date for EC !!
@ivf2021 thanks !! are you on progesterone pessaries? Constipation is a massive symptom of progesterone xx

@ivf2021 I have only been on pessaries since last night and already massively bloated! I have really sore boobs too. I'm a bit the opposite of constipated! 🤦🏾‍♀️ can't believe what our bodies go through! Hopefully the side effects calm down a bit

@Luan82 hope today goes well and u get ur collection booked in 🙏🏻 yeah I'm on utrogestan pessaries didn't know that so thank you! Rang the clinic yesterday to double check I could take senna and they said anything like that is fine. So hope that sorts it out within the next couple of days xx

@Coops0406 that's a good sign tho isn't it! Means ur body is doing what it's supposed to. Are u on utrogestan how are u finding them? X

@ivf2021 yes on utrogestan...just so glad it's not an up the bum one 🤣 they are okay, I know people have said it can be quite messy but so far not...but only had my second dose of it so we'll see. I look like I've eaten all day though and not eaten anything yet!!

@Coops0406 haha I was pleased it wasn't the bin one too haha!! Yeah I'm the same they've been fine so far. Bless u Atleast u know it's working I actually feel a lot lighter and less bloated after egg collection. I put on half a stone during the 13 days of stims and I was being reeeeally good food wise! And it's starting to drop.

Just wondering what's everyone's thoughts on the covid vaccine? Has anyone had it? Or had any advice from clinic on having it or not?

@ivf2021 so for me I had nothing with the injections, obviously now I know it's because they weren't doing much! But on the norithisterone I put on 3kg then dropped 2kg while on injections. Now I think it's creeping up!

I had the covid vaccine a couple of weeks before I started on the norithisterone and should be due my second in July. I think it's very much just personal choice but I think I would rather be vaccinated than wait until I eventually manage to have a baby to get done

@Coops0406 it's weird how everyone's bodies are so different isn't it! Let's hope we just get bigger from now on 🤞🏻 that's good u had it! I'm 29 (30 in a couple of weeks) so it's just opened for me. I definitely want it but unsure whether to wait until we know if we're getting transfer. My OH is 35 and has his booked now but I don't know what to do. Think im just overthinking everything x

@ivf2021 our consultant ages ago said as long as it was 2 weeks before egg retrieval we were fine. I think if it was now for me I would be waiting to see what happens. I've now just realised that we were originally having frozen transfer so July for the 2nd one fell in nicely...but if all goes well then I don't honestly know what I'll do about the 2nd one.
What does your fertility place say?

@Coops0406 @ivf2021 I had the first jab for covid about a month ago - jumped at the chance to get it done before treatment but I did tell them when I attended. I'm the same - would rather go ahead and get the vaccine before pregnancy than navigating it after or during !
Scan is done - my right ovary was hiding 🙈 I knew it was on the small side but she said it was being a bit quiet so two more days of stims and another scan Sunday - numbers are looking like 5 on the left with two dominant ones and three smaller - the right ovary has a few small ones but she's optimistic they might catch up, very similar to my AFC count last year which was 7 so wasn't expecting particularly high numbers x

@ivf2021 I had mine a couple a weeks before starting stims, my clinic told me Pfizer is fine to take. But recommended try to get both doses before I fall pregnant. So I'm going to get a letter from my go to bring forward my 2nd one before FET if I have any day 5s.

@Coops0406 it's good to have the monitoring, my clinic doesn't offer it, otherwise I would have taken that option. It allows them to monitor development with out disturbing the embryos.
I had spotting for 2 days, but now it's stopped, I seem to still be bloated and swollen.

@Luan82 that's great and the others can catch up. And remember it's quality over quantity (I keep telling myself that over and over). Did they tell you the sizes? My place only needed 3 over 16mm so I've got everything crossed for a few smallies to catch up 🤞🏾

I’m worried I have OHSS but I only had 11 eggs so not sure if that’s possible. I feel horribly bloated and now I feel really sick (admittedly I had loads of pulses for lunch). Have to lie down for a couple of hours during work. My dog stood on me earlier and the pain in (what I assume was my ovary) was more intense than I expected…

The other symptoms seem to be about not peeing enough (deffo not a prob) and losing appetite (kinda). Not really sure:

@Coops0406 that's good uve had the first one I seen something online that the first one gives u loads of protection so suppose u can ask ur clinic after transfer. Because it's just opened to my age group I didn't even think about it going to ask them when they ring on Monday! @Luan82 amazing about ur scan! I had 3 follicles on my first scan and by my second had 14. They only managed to get 7 out but it was better than I expected. So sure more will grow for u by ur next scan ❤️

@Aim2912 hopefully u can get ur second one pulled forward. Do u find out day 5 too or are u getting an update tomorrow?

@ivf2021 I get an update tomorrow, a little nervous, as day 3 is where I lost the most last time. Hoping this times different.

@Ofpalestsilver im feeling awful today as well, I emailed the clinic and they have asked me to come in for a check up. I don't think its OHSS, it's more like a really bad UTI, having a full bladder causes alot of pain. So contact your clinic to be safe.

@ivf2021 thank you, I'm half glad I have a call but I also know it can change from day 3 to day 5 so no idea what to make of whatever info they give us 😬

@Coops0406 definitely! I would 100% of preferred a day 3 call if I had the option just to manage expectations. I've been Googling today (I know I shouldn't but I can't stop 🤦🏻‍♀️) .. and it says that it's all the female dna contributing to the development until day 3 then at some point on day 3 the male contribution kicks in! And with ur hubby's super super sperm hopefully it will just help the growth even more from day 3-5.
