IVF - egg collection June (starting down regulation in May)

Hi ladies, would be great to chat to anyone who is about to start down regulation, in prep for stims later in the month and egg collection early June.

I start Norethisterone tomorrow. Will be at UCLH/CRGH, first ever IVF. We have MFI.

Mostly terrified of the needles! I have this irrational fear that I could puncture an organ - someone tell me that's not possible?! lol

@ivf2021 that's good to hear. I will definitely be shaking a bit with the first one but my OH will have to do the actual injecting, I can't even pull a plaster off me!
Do you do your injections at night time?

I was so chuffed that AF came yesterday then got woken up with the worst period pains in the middle of the night, I thought I was going to pass out. Has anyone clinics mentioned anything about painkillers? I had to have paracetamol as the pain was so bad so I'm hoping that's okay!

@Coops0406 it's crazy isn't it you wish for years for AF not to come then get excited for it before ivf haha! My clinic said Paracetamol is fine. Yeah I do my buserelin on a morning then meriofert on a night. Clinic said they prefer it this way cause if they need to change the dose on day 6 scan it means I can change it straight away on that evening x

@Coops0406 my next scan is tomorrow. I just did acupuncture so hopefully that, plus the increase dose, helps!!

The first day of injections, we were nervous, but you get the hang of the mixing quite quickly. We watched the instruction video the first two days, and then by day 3 we were pros! Tonight is the first night I have to inject myself (hubby has been doing it, but he's out this evening). So little nervous about that.. but something to tick off the bucket list lol.

We started cetrotide today too (the injection that stops you from ovulating too early). That one was a bit itchy and red after, but all in all, ok.

@ivf2021 Thank you - I will take a look at those fertility yoga videos tonight while hubby is out, as I will have a bit of time. I feel like I haven't done any exercise in a couple of months, so will be nice to do something other than walking.

@ivf2021 that's great as I've been on them every 4 hours! I hope this pain goes away before injections tomorrow!

@Luz192 fab! So your scan tomorrow, is that day 6? I think we start the additional fyremadel on day 5 (which I've heard is bit more painful) with a scan on day 6. We'll definitely be watching the videos before bed tonight and then just follow it tomorrow as we do the first one!

@Coops0406 my scan tomorrow is Day 6 yes.. well it's after 5 rounds of stims, as I inject in the evening, but technically Day 6 if that makes sense!

I think instead of fyremadel I have cetrotide - but my one was definitely a bit more itchy and uncomfortable. But the mixing for this one was easier as the liquid already came in the syringe, so it took out one step.

@Luz192 yes I think the fyremedal is pre-mixed so that's definitely much better. Let us know how your scan goes tomorrow 😊

@ivf2021 Thank you so much. Things were definitely more positive today. It shows 7 follicles > 10mm, and a bunch more 6-9mm so some of those will hopefully catch up. Very reassuring! They'll call me later today with an update after they've reviewed my blood test results. How are you feeling today?

@Luz192 that's amazing bet ur pleased with that ☺️ I'm in Tuesday for mine nervous but hopefully goes as well as yours! What are the bloods for?? I'm a first timer so only know what I read online and in these forums. I'm good thank you nice to see a sunny Newcastle for a change ☀️ xx

@Luz192 that's fantastic news!! 😊 You must be pleased! When is the next scan booked for? Are they keeping your meds as is based on today's scan?

Started my stims today!!! Was bit different to how I did before so had to triple check everything!.
@Luz192 so glad it went well today, hopefully they just keep on growing. 7 over 10mm is very good.

@Coops0406 I think we are on the same day how did it go for you this evening.

@Aim2912 I started yesterday morning, I was told to do them in the morning but I see most people are doing their first ones in the evening then when the add their second one that's in the morning.
How did you find your first one? We did our second one this morning...I only feel it when the liquid is going in, it hurts a little then nothing. I keep getting up super early, I think it's to get the injection done and then in my head it's another day down!
Will you be going for your scan on Thursday?

@Coops0406 mine were fine. But just takes me long as i check everything then my husband checks too lol. My next scan is on day 6 on Tuesday, then day 9 on Friday. Weather's been great so keeping busy outdoors, so nice and relaxed.

Yeh I think i would have preferred morning too, but my clinic tells us to do evenings so that they have time to adjust the days dose after the blood results. Good luck for the next scan.

@Aim2912 I feel like I have to mix it...just to make sure I've got every last bit 🤣
Just done the 3rd one this morning. Good luck for your scan tomorrow. Have you noticed any difference to you with taking the injections yet?

@Coops0406 the injections are going ok. Starting to feel my ovaries twing a bit. But apart from thst all ok. How about you. The scan today went ok i think. I have 16 follicles but all between 6 and 9mm. I'm told that is ok. But will have a call with the nurse later. Hope you scan goes well on Thursday.
@Luz192 did you have your day 9 scan today. Hope it went well. I don't start cetrotide till tomorrow. Are counting your day 1 from the 1st day of your period?

@Aim2912 my ovaries have been twinging too! Last night was a lot, I thought I was actually ovulating lol, but when I googled it today, apparently it's very common. Glad your scan went well - it's good they are all similar size. I think it can get difficult when a few runaway and get ahead, and then the others can't catch up. But if they're all similar size and growing evenly, they can stim you until they are all of a good size.

I had a scan/bloods yesterday, and more bloods today. Probably another scan tomorrow - I will find out once they call me later. I am being monitored quite a lot because of the risk of OHSS, which is great - just very tiring getting to all the appointments!

@Luz192 hey hope you don’t mind me butting in but what are the blood tests for while you’re stimming …?

@Aim2912 that sounds quite good...and all within a similar size so I think it sounds good. It will be interesting to know what the nurses say. Really looking forward to the scan, just to have an idea of what is going on as I thought I'd be bloated and uncomfortable but nothing yet so it worries you that nothing is happening

Both of ur day 6 scans sound amazing 😍 and good luck for tomorrow! I had mine yesterday and abit disappointed said they only measure ones over 10. I had 3 over 10 and the rest were smaller (didn't say how many or how small). Lining was 8. They said there is early signs of stimulation but they need to increase my dose to help push it along! Feeling a little flat! Back Friday so 🤞🏻🙏🏻 xxx

@ivf2021 fingers crossed for some improvement ready for Friday 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾like people say, it only takes one good one so 3 is great at the moment. Stay positive 🥰

@Coops0406 thank you so much 🙏🏻 we have mfi and all of my tests have been perfect so far until we've actually started the process and my bodies such a slow responder! Have to down regulated longer and now this! Think I've been abit naive because of the good tests results. Thought I would fly through it! Like you say though only takes one little embryo to work 🤞🏻❤️ x

@ivf2021 you can get like that...I was over the moon having high AMH for my age until I realised the quality may not be that great! I also thought I would get pregnant from the clomid for my PCOS but that didn't happen either! So here we are...but just got to stay positive and hope 😊

@Coops0406 the nurse called back yesterday and upped my dose a little and asked not to start taking the cetrotide, so it looks like they are going to stim me for 2 days longer as my growth is a little slow. have an additional scan booked tomorrow. lets see if they have grown.
also dont worry about not feeling anything, as long as they see the follicles tomorrow its all that matters, not everyone has the side affects, so if your one of them thats good.

@ivf2021 your others might catch up, as that what happened to me in my 1st cycle i had 4 initially that where big then 5 others caught up, we collected 7 that cycle.
