IVF - egg collection June (starting down regulation in May)

Hi ladies, would be great to chat to anyone who is about to start down regulation, in prep for stims later in the month and egg collection early June.

I start Norethisterone tomorrow. Will be at UCLH/CRGH, first ever IVF. We have MFI.

Mostly terrified of the needles! I have this irrational fear that I could puncture an organ - someone tell me that's not possible?! lol

@Luz192 fantastic! That's a really good amount of blastocysyts!! Over the moon for you! I don't even think I've heard of that many getting there! 😍

@Luz192 that's so good. So happy for you. No they have not me anything yet but i know they like to keep one cycle clear after collection. I will ask if I get any day 5s. Don't want to ask yet and get my hopes up. I think you would need to book a follow up with the consultant and confirm with them.

@ivf2021 I was put me on a FET protacol as my consultant thought I was at risk of OHSS, also as in my last cycle a good embryo didn't implant. So thought if I transfer on a more natural cycle that might help. So were just going to stick to it now.

@Aim2912 definitely best to stick to it then! Better safe than sorry ❤️ I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight waiting for tomorrow's phonecall xx

Morning all, so a quick update, 9 of my mine fertilised, a 25% fall out is expected, and we didn't need icsi, so quite happy
@Coops0406 @ivf2021 hope yours went well too.

@Aim2912 that's a great % that have fertilised! will they update you Day 3? Or only on Day 5?

Thank you all - I am beyond grateful. I know nothing is a guarantee still, though, but we can all just stay positive and hope and pray!

Had our phonecall 6/7 were mature. We needed icsi and 3 worked! Don't know how to feel I'm over the moon that we have 3 because I had a horrible sinking feeling this morning that none had worked. But with the drop out already being 50% I'm worried if any will make it to day 5! They said if only 1 fertilised they would plan in a day 3 transfer. But if more than 1 fertilised they leave them until day 5 so we are planned in but don't find out whether any worked until a couple of hours before planned transfer! Going to be a loooooong few days!

@ivf2021 3 is great! Don't be disheartened at all, you should feel over the moon with that! Fingers crossed for getting to day 5, I'm sure they will, stay strong and keep positive 😊

We had our phone call, more tears again! Both eggs mature and both fertilised - one got fertilised normally and the other with 2 sperm (turns out OH does have super sperm! Lol) so unfortunately it's abnormal. So considering where we started, we're so over the moon with our one tiny glimmer of hope...it's going to be a long 5 days ahead but just got to keep the faith 🤞🏾😍

@Coops0406 that super sperm!! lol. It really does just take 1 though, and there's every chance that the quality of this one is great as your body was able to put all of its energy into fewer eggs. It's a hard 5 day wait, for sure, try keep busy with lots of outdoors or lighthearted tv shows, etc!

@ivf2021 3 is a solid number of good quality fertilised eggs! I've heard so many stories of people getting a few at this stage, and then all of them progressing, so don't think of it in terms of %s (I know that's hard).

@Coops0406 haha definitely super super sperm! Awww bet ur over the moon ❤️ we all need to remember it only takes one 🙏🏻 are they leaving urs until day 5 too? Or do u get an update on day 3 xxx

@Luz192 thank you! I need to be more positive honestly I cried cause I was so over the moon when she rang this morning. But then doubts and % numbers kicked in and I feel stressed! How are u feeling today?

@ivf2021 there are so many ups and downs on this journey, it's unreal! I remember Day 2 I had such a down day, felt depressed almost. Quite unlike me. So be easy on yourself.

I'm feeling good today, thanks - the pain from OHSS has gone, just a lot of bloating still. And it feels slightly like I have UTI type feelings - but it's only sometimes, not constantly. So not sure if it's a UTI, part of OHSS, or a knock-on impact of the retrieval! I have another appt with the clinic tomorrow to check how I'm doing with OHSS, so I will ask them. It's a bit uncomfortable, but getting through it!

@Luz192 here's hoping!! Just going to try to relax nor and not think of anything to do with it...obviously the pessaries will remind me 🤣

@ivf2021 yes, we get an update at day 3, they say whether it's good, average or poor then I think on day 5 they may grade it (we paid for the video stuff and PGT-A which was all good and well when we expected a load of eggs..they cancelled the PGT-A but I think it's already in the thing for the videoing now so just got to go with it).

@Coops0406 I love that two sperm knocked their way in. Keen beans! But hell yeah for the super egg!

@ivf2021 Nice news - I'm so pleased that you have some lovely eggs (well, ferties!) on their way!

I got my day 3 update. All of the eggs are progressing normally. They've divided in different ways so anything could happen but it sounds very positive. I'm feeling very fortunate. Two more days to go.

Great news on your day 3 update, only 2 more days to go! Are you on fresh transfer?

@ivf2021 that's great news, don't worry about %, sorry i mentioned it, as an accountant statistics and % I drilled in to me but with ivf there are so many variable factors like quality and the development and good old luck

@Coops0406 next 5 day will be hard, stay positive, it's all about quality...and your OH sperm is super duper so that helps the quality.

We will get a day 3 update then a day 5 update. They will only good quality freeze day 5 embryos.

@Ofpalestsilver that's great news, glad to know they a progressing well, it's normal for them to all be at slightly different stages, as along as they a growing. E cited for you.

@Luz192 I feeling similar to having a uti too, but i think i was the same the last time, I can't keep my bladder full or it hurts. But it will pass soon I hope. Make the most if the break, before transfer.

@Ofpalestsilver ah interesting - thanks for letting me know re: your symptoms. Hopefully it's just a bit of a side effect of retrieval, and not a UTI, and will go down by itself!

@Luz192 aww bless u! I'm pleased ur feeling a little better. And great ur back tomorrow so I can get ur answers of when u can get one of them perfect embabies back in!

Clinic don't do day 3 wish they did cause think it would help my anxiety not make it worse like the embryologist said this morning.

@Ofpalestsilver bet ur so relieved! Only 2 days now! Bet u can't wait!

@Aim2912 awww it wasn't u mentioning the numbers bless u! It was Google's fault! Haha! I googled how many make it to day 5. It said only 30-50% of fertilised eggs make it. So I had a freak out! Like u say quality over quantity ❤️

We had our day 3 phone call this morning - I was so nervous. 6/7 have survived. I feel so relieved. Just hoping it will still be good news on day 5. I’m doing freeze all, so glad to have a bit of a break from medications at the moment! It’s such an emotional rollercoaster, each little step…

@Fairycakes86 Good stuff, only a few more days to go and then you can have a moment of respite from these ups and downs!

@Fairycakes86 that's amazing odds! Bet ur over the moon and can't wait to have a break before transfer. Thank you! I'm just on the pessaries 3 times a day. I was dreading them as read there messy! But there so easy to use and so far no mess at all. 🤞🏻 that we have Atleast one survive and transfer on monday xx

@ivf2021 the embryologist said to me that whatever they say on day 3 also doesn't have a bearing in where they will be on day 5...I asked if it was poor does that mean it's done and she said it can change and be good by day 5, so maybe that's why they don't want to worry you. Do you have the videos happening? If not then I think it's a do not disturb regime and they don't look until day 5 I think.

@Coops0406 what are the videos? We get a video call on Monday before we go in to explain everything but that's it. She said this morning that they used to do day 3 updates but it would just cause more anxiety to some patients so they don't now. She said the same as u that sometimes they would say everything was going well on day 3 then they would slow down or not make it. Or that it was bad and stress people out then they would catch up. So if more than one they leave it until day 5 now. Sooo jealous u get to stop isolating now haha! We've both got to until after transfer! How are u finding the pessaries? Which ones do u have? X

@ivf2021 with CARE it's called care maps. Photos are taken of each embryo every 10 mins I think...once you get to day 5 they put the video in the patient portal we have. I had to pay for it...but it was part of the genetic testing they thought would be beneficial but that's out of the window with just the one egg, but we've still got care maps, which is probably now a waste of money but too late to stop! I think with this though they can see how it's developing without having to get them out (that's my understanding anyway and I could be wrong!) so it informs them of which embryo/s is developing well.
I rang to check about isolating but they only wanted it done up to egg retrieval...so I'm free!! 😊
