IVF - egg collection June (starting down regulation in May)

Luz192 · 07/05/2021 15:58

Hi ladies, would be great to chat to anyone who is about to start down regulation, in prep for stims later in the month and egg collection early June.

I start Norethisterone tomorrow. Will be at UCLH/CRGH, first ever IVF. We have MFI.

Mostly terrified of the needles! I have this irrational fear that I could puncture an organ - someone tell me that's not possible?! lol

@Aim2912 good to hear from you. Yes got the results which were good. Just over 95% lactobacillus and none of the nasty bad bacteria they check for. And I was pre-receptive so need an extra day of progesterone before transfer.

When do you get your results? Did you do the trio test too?

I hadn't got my transfer scheduled until after we got results as may have needed antibiotics or something so we waited. I started on oestrogen a couple of weeks ago, straight onto the higher dose, and just started progesterone with transfer next Thursday! 😍. I started a new thread for May/June...lots on there looking at EC in June if you want me to tag you in it?

Luz192 · 24/05/2022 11:25

@Coops0406 @Aim2912 hello both! Lovely to hear from you

@Coops0406 that's great that you got something from the results, i.e. need an extra day progesterone. Hopefully your transfer next week is the one! Best of luck for it all and keep us updated on the outcome.

@Aim2912 Did you do ERA and the Alice/Emma too? Glad you managed to fit in a holiday, it does the world of good, doesn't it!

We just finished our renovation project, and after a stressful time, we are planning to have a bit of a chilled summer, enjoy life again, try naturally.. and then plan to do our next transfer in October.

@Coops0406 oh great news about your results! It's good you dont have delay your transfer to sort out bacteria issues.

Hope the transfer goes well this week. With all the prep and testing you've done things really to sound promising for you. All the best and pray all goes well.

My results have come in today and I have a call just before my baseline scan tomorrow to discuss the results. I'm hoping they are all ok proceed with a transfer this cycle.

Will join the other may/ June chat once I get the go ahead tomorrow.

@Luz192 glad to know the renovations are done and dusted. I guess you havent had the relaxing break you wanted. Hope you get that this summer. Plus age is on your side so waiting for when you ready is best.

Yes I did all 3 test. I had planned to do the nk as well but once I looked in to it I was not keen on having to take immune suppressants if I had immune issues. Also there isn't enough evidence to prove immune suppressants work. So left that one out.

Coops0406 · 25/05/2022 19:20

@Luz192 yes it was definitely worth doing I think. Although had a blood test today prior to transfer tomorrow and my progesterone level is very low...so had to make a second trip there today to pick up lubion injections as they wanted me to do one today and tomorrow before transfer!
Fab you've finished your renovation and taking the summer to enjoy good times sounds perfect!

@Aim2912 how was the baseline scan? And how were your results? My consultant didn't say it was worth doing the NK cell tests! I've forgotten his reasoning.

I have had the worst day emotionally since my last failed ET last November! It suddenly hit me that after 7 months we are actually at transfer again and the fear, nerves, worry and complete overwhelming feelings just came over me! Spent most of the day crying! Hopefully I just needed a good cry to get it all out of my system before tomorrow!

Aim2912 · 26/05/2022 00:43

@Coops0406 I know so much time and patients it takes to get to transfer day that when you finally get to it is overwhelming! I felt like that the day of my transfer...and stayed like that a few days after transfer. So good to get the crying out of the system now as you want to stay relaxed from tomorrow. I know easier said then done.

I'm out this cycle. As I have some bacterial issues, so will need to take probiotics and anibiotics. 😞not sure if this is going to cause a one month delay or two month as the consultants confused me abit with the time line. Felt a bit deflated today! Its never ending.

Really do hope the transfer goes well for you and gives you the bfp in a couple weeks time. Rooting for you. X

Coops0406 · 26/05/2022 06:33

@Aim2912 so sorry to hear. The probiotics I have been taking from November are purolabs, as well as an actimel a day in case you wanted to look at them (although I don't know if your place will prescribe what they want you to take). But I'm certain they are the reason mine was okay. Hopefully you will only be delayed by a month. I can completely understand how deflating it is and frustrating having a delay, but it is completely better to sort it out and make sure it's all good for transfer. A month or two will come round so fast! What did the ERA say? Is the normal 5 days on progesterone good for you?

I've woken up feeling better after a good sleep..I have a delightful spot right in the middle of my nose which is annoying! Just about to do the injection then get ready and wait for the embryologist to call!

Keep me in the loop with everything 😊

Aim2912 · 26/05/2022 11:05

@Coops0406 for me i have to transfer after 6 days of progesterone, my original transfer was with 6 days on progesterone, so the timing for that was fine, next time im going to be on a higher does as like you my progesterone was low. so will be on lubion straight away.

il have a look at purolabs, ive been told to take canesflor and some antibiotics as my lactobacillus is 66%

glad you feel rested and ready to today. It will all go smoothly hopefully.... get the MR to make you a nice dinner tonight....and some feel good pampering :)

Coops0406 · 26/05/2022 14:37

@Aim2912 I shouldn't take too long to get that % up for you, I'm sure I've seen someone's was in the tens and got up there in a month. Also try the actimel every day...just ab extra boost!

We've had an up and down sort of morning, they were defrosting a day 5 expanded blastocyst...then when they rang back a couple of hours later they said it's actually a fully hatched embryo, which from what I've read isn't as good as transferring an expanded blast or hatching blast. So I had a little cry and then dusted myself off. We now have our little embryo on board and feeling good 🥰

Fluffykins33 · 26/05/2022 15:44

Hi there. Bit of a late Joiner but just saw your post. It’s my egg collection tomorrow (first attempt at IVF) but I too was told I had fluid in the cervix at my last scan 2 days ago and that this might impact transfer day. Don’t know how common it is but just wanted you to know you are not alone! ❤️

Coops0406 · 26/05/2022 17:37

@Fluffykins33 this a very old one from last year lovely so you may not find much interaction, but there is another one going on now...I'll tag you in it ☺️

Aim2912 · 27/05/2022 10:16

@Coops0406 congratulations on your transfer!!!

Sounds like transfer day was super stressful. I looked in to fully hatched embryos and understand you concern. But the stats are still high as it's a euploid. Try stay positive... I know its warm out but I'm told keeping your feet warm helps circulation and therefore implantation. So stay nice and cosy.

Hope these two week fly by for you. Xxx

Coops0406 · 27/05/2022 20:24

@Aim2912 thanks so much! I'm forgetting the stress of the last few days and just going to try to enjoy the next couple of weeks 😊
My friend mentioned about the warm feet thing! I do get cold feet so they are going to be in socks all the time!!!

Coops0406 · 04/06/2022 07:53

@Aim2912 @Luz192 so this one is looking like it hasn't worked again! OTD is Monday but been testing BFN for the last 5 days! So no doubt I'll be back again with you both sometime soon 🥰

Aim2912 · 06/06/2022 15:51

@Coops0406 im so so sorry to hear this, i really hoped this one was the one for you!
my clinic doesn't let us test till day 14 after transfer so maybe re test on day 14 again just incase.

i hope you are coping ok? a loss is a loss not matter how big or small so do take the time to let yourself deal with it all.

I'm hear if you need to talk.x

Coops0406 · 06/06/2022 16:05

@Aim2912 we thought so too. It's heartbreaking and just such a gruelling journey. We tested this morning and it was a very strong negative line!
We have another review consultation on 21st June but I don't know what they'll say...there's nothing more we can do!
How are you getting on?

Luz192 · 06/06/2022 17:28

@Coops0406 so sorry to hear about the negative. It's really heartbreaking.. Allow yourself a bit of time to grieve and to just wallow (I remember I was a mess and so upset after my BFN last year!)
With regards to review, there may not be any more you need to do.. sometimes it's just a numbers game (even with euploids). It will likely be just try again. And maybe push to transfer 2, this time? They should allow it, after two negatives. So sorry again.. it's a really tough situation, and so unfair that we have to go through all this.

@Aim2912 really sucky about the results BUT I always think it's good to know these things and be given a chance to resolve, than not. What bad bacteria did your test show? I do think they hand out antibiotics a little too freely - antibiotics typically have quite a negative impact on the good bacteria and it can become a bit of a vicious cycle (I say this after years of antibiotics and gut issues). There's probably not too many other options right now, especially if you want to resolve quickly and then transfer. But going forward perhaps try really focus on good pre-biotic (not probiotic) foods and/or supplements to help strengthen the microbiome (if you have enough fo the good stuff, it's hard for the bad stuff to survive, so it naturally helps balance). And then select probtioucs for the reproductive side - I use the Invivo Femme V probiotics - they are really researched based and do a lot of studies on reproduction and women's health and what specific strains are needed.

Coops0406 · 07/06/2022 16:14

@Luz192 it's just so rubbish. I feel okay but it comes in waves. I just don't know how it's ever going to work and there's no specific reason for it which makes it worse! You think with a decent AMH, euploids and all the womb checks that that would be enough!

How are you getting on?

Aim2912 · 07/06/2022 17:46

@Coops0406 i know its just not fair! the only thing we can do it build our selfs up to try again. its just as Luz192 said its all down to the stats as you have done everything you could. do you have 1 or 2 left in the freezer? its just about hoping and praying the next one works. like you my emotion came in waves ranging from feeling nothing and cold initially, to complete devastation and anger. But some how we manage to build our self's up again.

my cousin didn't do anything different on her 3rd attempt, and it worked for her eventfully, so I'm using that to give me hope to.

i have finished my antibiotics and still taking the probiotics as well as kefir and actimal and eating healthy. now waiting to ovulate to re do my emma and alice, then once i get the results and get the go ahead i can prepare for another FET so maybe end of august for a transfer if not end of September.

@Luz192 i tested negative for any bad bacteria, so that was ok, but my microbe was imbalanced. my lactobacillus is 66% (the good bacteria) and it needs to be over 80% and my Gardnerella is 27% this need to below 11% . i was given antibiotics to fix the percentages. however once its balanced i can maintain it with my diet and probiotics. its odd as my diets is the cleanest is ever been over the years. makes me wonder why i gave up bread. lol

Aim2912 · 05/07/2022 22:25

@Coops0406 hope your well, any updates for what your next steps are?

Got results back from my 2nd emma and alice and results are all normal now. The good bacteria is in it 90ies now and none of the bad stuff.

Hoping to do a 2 embryo transfer end of august/ early September.

Coops0406 · 05/07/2022 22:32

@Aim2912 so sorry, I've been a bit awol from here, just getting on with life!
That's great news about the improvement in the Alice/Emma tests! How many embryos do you have frozen? Have they suggested 2 back in or have you asked? Are you excited to be nearly there again?

We had our review meeting, they said realistically we've done pretty much all we can. They suggested a thrombophilia blood test as there is a history of blood clots, for which they would prescribe 40mv clexane, however they said they will let mr have 20mg clexane without having the blood test. So we are putting the next one in on my next cycle, which should be next week so maybe end of July. If that doesn't work then it's another egg collection 🤦🏾‍♀️

Aim2912 · 06/07/2022 00:14

@Coops0406 it's good your getting on with other things in life. Its needed to give your brain a rest from the fertility.

that's not too long for the next transfer, hopefully you can get in some relaxing time before it all begins.

Many clinics give anti clotting meds as standard more recently, so it's good that they have offered to give it to you. Might as well try it as my understanding is it does not do any harm, even if you didnt need it.

I get given inhixa which is the same a clexane due to history of MC.

I have 4 embryos left and I have asked to transfer 2. The clinic lets you choose if you have had 2 failed transfers. But they go through all the risks with you. The biggest risks are preterm labour, preeclampsia and gestational diabetes - so I have cut out refined/processed sugers and gluten from my diet to help avoid GB.

Really do hope this one works for you, and you dont have to go through the egg collection again.

Coops0406 · 27/07/2022 22:45

@Aim2912 how are you doing? Are you on track to start your FET meds soon? I have transfer booked for the 4th august so a week tomorrow! And OTD is the 15th august...my 40th birthday! It's either gonna be great or crap! And then I have a 40th party 5 days after! 🤦🏾‍♀️

Aim2912 · 28/07/2022 11:09

@Coops0406 I was wondering recently how you were getting on...its good to hear from you.

I'm not too far behind you, my last cycles was a short one so started earlier then expected, ive started the meds for FET, I'm transferring on a natural cycle so I'm only taking a mild stimulation injections every other day to help ovulate, as my last 5 cycles i ovulated on day 24, which is too late. hopefully some mild stimulation will help move things along. I'm on day 4 of cycle, so my transfer will be on the 12th or 13th of August.

oooh the big 40!...it would be an amazing gift to see that positive line. hoping and praying for you.

are you taking any time off after transfer?

Coops0406 · 28/07/2022 15:36

@Aim2912 I've been so rubbish on this! I feel like I was all consumed in it all on my previous cycles and seeing everyone else getting positives and posting pics of positive tests took its toll!! I now just float in and out a little!

We are really close with the transfer dates! So your meds are to make sure you ovulate then after that they will transfer 5 days later?

I know, I don't even know how I've got to 40! It would be the most amazing present but I'm not getting any hopes up. The embryo, although euploid, isn't as good as the last one so we'll see. I'm off work from the 8th until the 30th! Got my mother in law staying for the first week as she has a major operation next week, then a few things planned for the following 2 weeks for my birthday! 😍 I think it's better for me to keep busy to take my mind off things!

Aim2912 · 02/08/2022 23:53

@Coops0406 not long left now, thought I'd wish you very best for the transfer day. Hope the next day or so passes smoothly and your nice and relaxed for transfer day.

I'm the same as you, I havent joined any of the current chats this time around.... But just come on here to see how your doing, as our both of our journeys have been long and hard. So if you do get there I'd be very happy for you and it would give me hope too.

Yes I'm just taking the meds to make sure I ovulate....completely forgot how crappy the stimulating drugs made me feel. Wish I hadn't taken anything.

I've taken 2 weeks off from the 15ths. Hope to go somewhere scenic for a few days but haven't booked anything yet.

Take care and hoping/praying this one sticks. X
