IVF - egg collection June (starting down regulation in May)

Hi ladies, would be great to chat to anyone who is about to start down regulation, in prep for stims later in the month and egg collection early June.

I start Norethisterone tomorrow. Will be at UCLH/CRGH, first ever IVF. We have MFI.

Mostly terrified of the needles! I have this irrational fear that I could puncture an organ - someone tell me that's not possible?! lol

@Aim2912 thank you ❤️ I wish I hadn't of tested now! But I've seen so many posts online where people have got a BFP on day 5/6/7 and was hoping I'd be that lucky! Bloods aren't until Saturday so going to try and enjoy the rest of my week and worry about it then.

@Believe202 sorry for the late response. im at CRGH. My experience with them was good. i think they really do tailor the protocol to the individual. what i like about them is if they feel you need more monitoring they will call you in daily to ensure the drug dosing is at optimum levels. While they monitor you, you can ask for a print out, which i liked. i did a freeze all cycle so up to egg collection i would say all good.

The only thing i didnt like is to ask the consultant any questions you need to book a appointment and pay for it, so i ended up directing all questions to the nurses team. but would have liked to have a quick 5/10 chat with the consultant.
The cost of the cycle is a lot higher then other clinics, so that is something to bear in mind.

Plot twist. I tested at 4.30am and was convinced that there was just the control line. We looked with the light on my phone and it seemed definitive so I went back to sleep. I told my mum this morning (we’re visiting my parents) and was definitive and then I come back to the bedroom and glance at the test and am like- wait is that a faint pink line? It is indeed. There is defo a faint line.

Sooooo… can that occur over a couple of hours making the test inaccurate, ie, is that why they tell you not to trust it after 10 mins? Or did I miss it in the darkness this morning?

Who knows. But we’re still in play for now. As if this wasn’t mad enough!

@Aim2912 I’m at a different clinic and it’s the same. You rarely see the consultant, it’s all nurses. The nurses have been lovely but I wish that there was more interaction with the consultant.

@Ofpalestsilver yes i think alot of people in the forums have said the same about their clinics to, so i guess its normal.

im not sure about a test couple of hours later, but i wouldn't rule it out completely. its good to have that bit of hope until blood test day. :)

I don't feel like there is much to report with me, boobs are not as sore and if anything my weight is decreasing! Still have a few spots on my face though! Just getting massively stuck into work and trying not to pay attention to anything!

@Coops0406 you do right !! I think that the fact that I can't test early will help because of the trigger removes any temptation and also id like to stay in my bubble as long as possible !!
I'm doing surprisingly ok but think that's because I know they aren't checking the embryos till at least Tuesday/Wednesday so am not expecting a call - just keeping everything crossed I want them to do well so much !!! Tbh because of my diminished ovarian reserve and the small amount of eggs collected even getting to a transfer will be such a big deal for me 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🌈🌈🌈❤️❤️❤️

@Ofpalestsilver ooooooh interesting! As someone who has been a POAS addict for many years now 🙄 I can confirm that a negative rarely becomes a positive when left to dry - and I've gone back to check every single one of mine !! Are you using first response? sometimes you can get an evap line but usually no colour to it unless you flood the test you shouldn't see a pink line later on x

@Luan82 I feel like you are exactly how I was too!! 🥰 Although I have a high AMH so the lack of follicles and eggs was very hard to take! But getting to ET was a blessing, never thought it after my EC!! Never even thought anything would come out at EC! Just have to remain hopeful ❤️ I'll be keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾

@Coops0406 isn't is strange how low amh can mean one thing and high amh can have the same results even though it's supposed to be the opposite ?!! I felt exactly the same just couldn't get my head around the eggs being mature and viable and though I wasn't expecting high numbers it was really tough hearing the other EC results in the ward!! I think so many months of negative tests and trying and failing to get pregnant has given me a negative outlook on my fertility so I always try to prepare myself for the worst case scenario!! x

@Luan82 - why can't you test early? Not that I'm recommending it! I'm just curious! Also, what does POAS mean? :) I have a generic brand that I'm using and then I have some Clearblue for nearer the time. Lots of people seem to mention FRER rather than Clearblue but I'd never even thought of it! I guess they're all much of a muchness. I'll do another test tomorrow, just to see, ha!

Also it sounds like you're getting super close to transfer so you're absolutely smashing it! It's hard to think positively sometimes when you've gone through so much negativity with fertility. My best friend got pregnant first time with IVF so I think I came into it with false hope during my first cycle. And that's been battered out of me four cycles later!

@Ofpalestsilver thank you !!! I know what you mean I feel like I was completely clueless coming into this just how low the odds actually are, particularly considering my age I had no idea it has such an effect on the success rate, I feel very strongly that young women should be educated on fertility and not just avoiding getting pregnant at a young age! POAS is pee on a stick addict (I've had so many months of negative tests that I'm used to all the brands now!) testing before (I think it's ten days after trigger shot) can result in a false positive because the hormone HCG from the trigger is still in your system- so for example if I took a test now it would be positive (which is mad!) that's why the nurse gives you a date to test I think. Clear blue are good and so are FRER, personally when trying naturally I stopped buying the expensive tests as it was a waste of money and AF always came on time 🙄 wishing you so much luck with the test today I had no idea you'd been through so many rounds that is tough!! Have you got some frozen embabies this time around? Xx

Hi ladies - I have a question - I have just noticed that my natural cycle is short at 26 days currently and according to my apps the last day of the cycle is tomorrow!! I'm terrified that I'll get my period the day after transfer (if we make it to transfer) - hopefully the progesterone helps keep the levels up and delays it but just wondering what if it doesn't? Going to mention to the nursing team today I think as it's worrying me x

@Luan82 your period is triggered by hormones such as the drop in progesterone, which falls naturally 10 to 16 days after ovulation. as you triggered late you progesterone wont drop yet, you are also supplementing on additional progesterone so your natural cycle wont follow this month, it the drugs you are taking that will control your cycle during the ivf month.

@Aim2912 thanks ! I spoke to the nurse and she said the same basically to turn off my app as it's useless! Ovulation technically happened at egg collection which in turn will delay my period and the progesterone pessaries help keep the levels stable so no need to worry 😀

Morning guys! Just though it I'd update you all...my boobs stopped hurting on monday, spots have been appearing, my weight decreasing and I had a horrible feeling last night that absolutely nothing is going on...we decided to test this morning as I'm not in work and couldn't face testing on Friday and having to go into work without having time for it to sink in. So at 9dp5dt it's a BFN ☹️ a very obvious BFN. I guess it was expected and I have a couple of days for it to sink in before I re-test.

@ivf2021 how are you doing? Have you tried testing again? I didn'tthink I'd cave but last night I started to panic about going to work on Friday and having to be okay!

@Coops0406 - oh honey I'm so sorry to read this I really was rooting for you !! I know it's probably little consolation but a colleague at work her best friend has just had a baby via IVF, her first round was unsuccessful but she was successful the second time! Obviously it is quite early still but at least you've prepared yourself for Friday and the weekend, if it's still negative - are you planning next steps or taking a break?
I'm Trying not to overthink the call this morning...😬 easier said than done! Sending you lots of love ❤️ x

@Luan82 thanks, it's definitely a bit crappy but I'm just glad I'm prepared for Friday as I have a couple of days to digest it. I'm also gutted that there's no Frosties either and have to start again! I know people who did it second time round (but that was with their frozen ones and they still have another spare!).
Hopefully now I'll be paying they can investigate thoroughly about my poor response with high AMH!

@Coops0406 I'm so sorry to hear that 😞 it's devastating isn't it! Are u still holding out hope for Friday? I tested again yesterday with first response and had the thinnest faintest line but assuming it was a Evap line as done another one this morning and it was even fainter and thinner than yesterday's. Also done a clear blue and says not pregnant 😭 I've completely lost all hope now! Just want it to be Saturday.

@Coops0406 absolutely you aren't out till test date but I understand the need to be realistic too, low numbers of eggs really is the worst thing - I'm also keen to talk to my consultant to understand what happened as there we seven follicles in the end, wondering if there were a few immature eggs in there or there were four empty follicles! Not sure what's worse tbh!! Stay strong, you've got this - I know quite a few ladies who were unsuccessful the first cycle and didn't have FET to fall back on but their second cycle was totally different so pls don't despair! Xxx

@ivf2021 it's so rubbish isn't it! 🥰 I hope you're okay. At least there is something faint and it could get stronger so don't lose all hope just yet. I felt that mine would be negative, to be fair we were lucky to still be in it after our EC based on only 2 eggs! So now I can just give myself time to get used to it and have a clear blue one to use on Friday. We just have to try and forget it and wait for our definite confirmation, easier said than done!! And if it's still negative on Friday I am having wine!

@Luan82 I'm definitely a realistic person, I know the chances of ivf working first time are very slim. But I will keep plugging away...the only thing is age is not on my side...39 in august!

We have one good quality blast ready to transfer today!!!!! The other is growing slowly but they are keeping an eye on it and it may be available to freeze fingers crossed they may leave it another day in the incubator - I'm going to transfer today .... yay!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

@Coops0406 Ive had that feeling too that it hasn't worked this time! I was so pleased we made it to ET too with our low numbers. But it still doesn't make a negative any easier does it 😞 do u have bloods on Friday or just take a test at home? I'm sure from googling this morning it was an evap line so just going to hide the tests and test on Saturday before I go forward bloods! Do u know what happens going forward?

@Coops0406 I said the same to my OH this morning! If Saturday is a definite negative I'm having lots of wine and snacks! And a big takeaway on Sunday! Then back to healthy lifestyle on Monday for next round xx
