IVF - egg collection June (starting down regulation in May)

Luz192 · 07/05/2021 15:58

Hi ladies, would be great to chat to anyone who is about to start down regulation, in prep for stims later in the month and egg collection early June.

I start Norethisterone tomorrow. Will be at UCLH/CRGH, first ever IVF. We have MFI.

Mostly terrified of the needles! I have this irrational fear that I could puncture an organ - someone tell me that's not possible?! lol

@Luan82 😍😍😍 this is fantastic!! So amazing to see it being transferred! Enjoy and have a relaxing day after, so pleased for you 🥰

@ivf2021 I just have to do a test on Friday morning then ring them. Not sure about after as this was my only nhs cycle so have to think whether I continue with the same place (which is over an hour away) or choose same company (CARE) but closer to me or somewhere else. I suppose today would be a good day for me to do some research though!

ivf2021 · 23/06/2021 09:43

@Luan82 good luck today! I loved transfer day ❤️ hopefully u will have to wait a looooong time for u gin now 🙏🏻

@Coops0406 u never know u could just be surprised on Friday yet 🤞🏻 I forgot u were only 1 round that's awful! Shocking that it's different in different parts of the country! I've got 2 more nhs just spoken to my friend who's just had ivf and had a chemical and she said they make u wait for another period then schedule u in for a follow up appointment. Do the pessaries keep AF away? I've been feeling like it's coming for days! It normally comes 13/14 days after ovulation for me so because EC was 14 days ago thinking it may come today and not get to test day.

Luan82 · 23/06/2021 10:29

@ivf2021 @Coops0406 thank you ladies - I'm so grateful to even have made it this far - I'm like @Coops0406 unfortunately and have one round on the nhs then have to go private so we've been preparing our savings for a while, if we do go private will go all in with either 3 cycles and 50% refund (which is a lot more!) or two cycles x

Ofpalestsilver · 23/06/2021 10:51

@Coops0406 I am so sorry to hear this. Did you double check the test to be sure? Of course not everyone is an idiot like me but just in case. Wine will be much deserved by the weekend. It’s tiring thinking that you have to go through it all again but you’ve gone through it once and you can do it again. And they do say it takes a couple of goes sometimes. Wishing you all the luck in the world.

@ivf2021 I’m so crushed for you. But enjoy your weekend and treat yourself. You deserve it.

@Luan82 good luck today! Transfer - eek!! Such a great milestone.

Ofpalestsilver · 23/06/2021 10:52

As for me, I’ve got a BFP with two different new tests. Early days but I’m starting to believe it’s true.

ivf2021 · 23/06/2021 11:18

@Luan82 definitely I felt the same! I cried with happiness all morning on ET day it's such a big milestone! Good luck today ❤️

@Ofpalestsilver congratulations that's amazing ❤️❤️❤️ did u take a test yesterday and see any difference from the day 9 faint one?? Or just a couple today and huge bfp? 🎉 I'm a nightmare cause I kept yesterday's test and keep looking at it thinking pleeeeease 🙏🏻 95% sure it hasn't worked but that little 5% is hoping by Saturday I might get a miracle!

Coops0406 · 23/06/2021 11:51

@ivf2021 I know, I honestly can't understand how different it can be! They used to give 2 cycles on the nhs in preston only a couple of years ago! But I think I'll get through quicker with paying...I feel there has been a lot of wasted time for me with them not checking me on clomid then with nhs they only let a few through each month...plus they went off all our checks from preston which seem to be wrong! 🤦🏾‍♀️ probably would have been better off paying for it a year ago but we weren't to know.

@Luan82 enjoy the rest of your day and stay rested and relaxed for the next couple of weeks...easier said than done! 😍

@Ofpalestsilver it was a definite BFN...I used a cheapo test but it does say it's an early testing one...I just have a clear blue one which I'll check on Friday. HUGE congratulations!! This is amazing news and I'm so pleased for you!!! 🥰

Ofpalestsilver · 23/06/2021 13:39

@ivf2021

So my testing history (!) is
Monday - cheapie SureSign Early Detection: I missed the faint line until later in the day
Tuesday - same cheapie SureSign: faint line was apparent straight away
Wednesday - cheapie Numark Early Detection: slightly darker line
Also from the same specimen I did a Clearblue How Many Weeks: it said Pregnant 1-2 weeks since conception.

Even with the cheapie I expected the Clearblue to say Not Pregnant (cos I’ve seen that a lot of times). That one helped me believe it.

Shit I have waited for this for so long (as I know a lot of you have) and now I’m finally crying. I’m going to do everything in my power to keep this embryo in me…

Anyway I find it hard to hear about others’ success when I’ve not been successful so if this is hard reading for anyone then I apologise. I really hope your time will come super soon and we can feel good together!

Aim2912 · 23/06/2021 15:24

@Ofpalestsilver...that great news , bet you cant wait for the blood test now. i did have a feeling yours might have stuck when you mentioned the day 6 spotting. very happy for you!!! :) hope things go smoothly for you.

@Coops0406 @ivf2021 i would not rule anything out until the blood test, so try to hang in there, as you never no. its hard hitting when you have gone through the whole journey and end up with a BFN and none frozen, i was in the same position this time last year.

if the bloods do come out negative give your mind and body the time it needs to accept it. As i think I was in denial after my blood test, as i didnt get my period i kept home testing. defo have blow out weekend, you both deserve it!!!

@Luan82 congratulations on your transfer!! well done for getting this far!!! hope it all goes well for you today. try not to stress over the 2ww. x

Fabsco · 23/06/2021 16:07

Hi ladies!
I'm joining a bit late but wanted to share my journey so far. I had my first IVF cycle back in February 2021 and, in spite of reasonably good egg numbers (9 retrieved, 6 mature) for my age and AMH, had total fertilisation failure. It was the most devastating news as we were so hopeful that we just needed a little help with IVF. How wrong were we...

We started a new cycle in May with down regulation for three weeks and stims in June. I had six eggs this time, of which three were mature and all fertilised with ICSI. We are cautiously hopeful for an embryo transfer on Sunday, but also happy that we had 100% fertilisation with ICSI. One step at a time!

Good luck to all my cycle buddies!

ivf2021 · 23/06/2021 17:04

@Coops0406 I hope u get a big surprise on Friday ❤️ good that u have a plan of action for next time if needed if u haven't been 100% happy with ur clinic!

@Ofpalestsilver awwwww I'm honestly so happy for u ❤️ it's lovely to see ivf success stories! Gives everyone some hope!

@Aim2912 thank you ❤️ u give me some hope as u seem so positive about this round! Definitely I keep trying to make it better by saying Atleast I can get really drunk on my 30th next week! But would of much rather not be drinking for the next year!

@Fabsco 100% fertilisation is amazing 😍 hopefully means there is some strong embryos there! We only had 50% with icsi and ended up at transfer so I would say u have an amazing chance! Good luck!

X

Coops0406 · 23/06/2021 18:30

@Aim2912 thanks...I already had a chippy tea abd some skittles! 🤦🏾‍♀️

@Fabsco fantastic news! So glad you are in this position after your previous cycle! Fingers crossed for ET 😊

@ivf2021 ❤️❤️❤️ wouldn't it be lovely! But highly doubtful!

Luz192 · 24/06/2021 09:26

Sorry I've been away from here for a while - taking my mind off IVF for a bit! Finally feel mostly recovered from the OHSS - looking forward to exercising again but the clinic had told me to wait 4 wks, so have another week or so to go.

@Ofpalestsilver congratulations on your BFP - praying and hoping it sticks for you!

@Coops0406 if it hasn't worked, just think that the process you've gone through will give the private clinic a lot of information to work with. Like you said, with your AMH, your results should have been different, so next round should be quite different.

@ivf2021 sorry to hear about your BFN. I know it's truly a difficult time - be easy on yourself and just remember, your time WILL come.

@Aim2912 I didn't realise you were at CRGH too! I'm at UCLH/CRGH. Probably was in the clinic at same time as you at some point haha. Have they confirmed that your transfer will be in August? I have a consultation appt on 6th July. I think I'll find out more then.
@Believe202 My experience with CRGH has been great - they are very thorough. Even had daily blood tests at one point in the lead up to egg collection. I've had a freeze all too, so we'll see if we get success, but I have been happy with everything so far.

@ivf2021Thank you so much for your lovely message! I had nightmares the whole month that we were going to have total fertilisation failure again with ICSI. Of course there are alternatives if that was the case, but there's only one IVF clinic where we live and they don't offer AOA or IMSI, which seem to be the next steps after total fertilisation failure with standard ICSI. Hopeful that the next call from the embryologist will be a positive one as well! Happy for you that you got to transfer stage. It's a journey and we hope to get to that step as well.

@Coops0406 Thank you for your kind words! As @ivf2021 said, I hope you get a nice surprise on your testing day. This journey is hard but I'm glad we have this forum and get so much support from each other. We're here for you!

Luan82 · 24/06/2021 13:30

Hi Ladies - transfer went well, (aside from a little and slightly traumatic bladder issue !)
Unfortunately the remaining embryo wasn't strong enough to freeze though so that's a shame but I am grateful that considering my low amh I made it to transfer and they did confirm it was a good quality one too 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
So for all those who have already undertaken the 2WW I was wondering if intense period cramps were normal? I've been getting them quite strongly this afternoon had to lie down for ten mins and was pretty sure my period was coming at one point !! Also I've had a belter of a headache all day. Wasn't sure if this is normal so soon after transfer and maybe it's the progesterone pessaries? Xx

Aim2912 · 24/06/2021 16:20

@Luz192 yep our paths probably did cross, lol. i mentioned it quite early on, on this thread when we were all starting out. i have my follow up booked on the 30th of June, to see what the consultant advises, but mentally planning on doing the transfer in my august cycle, looking at my app that will be around the 9th/10th august. managed to get the leave from work to so hope the consultant agrees

@Luan82 its great you have a good quality one, that will hopefully help it stick. did they tell you the grading?
my 2ww wait wasnt so great in my pervious ivf cycle so i will let the others on here answer that one.

Luan82 · 24/06/2021 16:26

@Aim2912 they didnt actually grade it just said the one they transferred was excellent quality with it being the only one left I didn't ask for more details as it didn't make much difference and will only make me overthink it, 🙄 the embryologist said it was a very good looking embryo so that's good enough for me 🤣! x

Luan82 · 24/06/2021 16:27

@Aim2912 I'm sorry to hear your previous cycle wasn't a great experience btw 😞 x

Coops0406 · 25/06/2021 12:32

Hi all, sorry for being quiet on here.
Unfortunately it was BFN today too so that's us done for the timebeing. It has been so good being in this thread, the support has been amazing and I really wish you all the absolute best in your quests for parenthood. I'm so pleased for you all with how things are progressing and may see some of you who have FET later this year when we embark on our next cycle ❤️

Luz192 · 25/06/2021 12:55

@Coops0406 so sorry to hear, but glad you are staying positive - it will happen! Keep us up to date as and when you decide to progress with a new round.

@Aim2912 ah brill - let me know how the consultation goes on 30th and if they agree to your August cycle. I have my consultation on 6th July - I was wondering if they'd let me transfer at the end of July, or if that would be too soon and have to wait for a later cycle (I am going to ask for a natural transfer if at all possible. I think they lose some control over timing so may not be so for it).

Coops0406 · 25/06/2021 16:52

@Luz192 thank you 😊 review meeting on 7th July so hopefully looking to maybe restart in august 🤞🏾

ivf2021 · 26/06/2021 13:38

Hi ladies been for bloods today to confirm everything and it's a BFN as we thought.

Congratulations to @Ofpalestsilver wishing u a happy 9 months ❤️ and my heart goes out to u @Coops0406 hope ur ok today! Our review meeting is the end of July so might see u on another forum for round 2!

Good luck to all u lovely ladies who have had transfer or have transfers still to come ❤️

X

Ofpalestsilver · 26/06/2021 15:02

@Luan82 yes I had a lot of cramping and I still do now so it’s quite normal.

@Coops0406 sorry to hear it. Take good care of yourself and hope you’ll be celebrating soon x

Luan82 · 26/06/2021 15:17

@ivf2021 @Coops0406 so sorry to hear that your cycles didn't have the positive outcomes you were hoping for - I just wanted to echo your comments @Coops0406 about how lovely everyone is and how helpful the group can be when you are embarking on something for the first time, no matter what the outcome of our cycle is hope to hear from you all again either through the next cycle or once we embark on a happy and healthy nine months of pregnancy later in the year!
@Ofpalestsilver thank you - I'm guessing it's the pessaries as it's settled down now
❤️❤️❤️
