IVF - egg collection June (starting down regulation in May)

Hi ladies, would be great to chat to anyone who is about to start down regulation, in prep for stims later in the month and egg collection early June.

I start Norethisterone tomorrow. Will be at UCLH/CRGH, first ever IVF. We have MFI.

Mostly terrified of the needles! I have this irrational fear that I could puncture an organ - someone tell me that's not possible?! lol

Hi @Needahaircut81 it’s so good that they are looking after you abs weighing up the best options to get you the maximum results.
I suppose ivf is a constant up
And down rollercoaster isn’t it, not just one test at the end but all the way along it has its ups and downs. Hope you feel ok and there’s still plenty of time for some lovely little eggs to grow in the those follicles xxxxxx

@ivf2021 so glad I'm back at work...and each day I come home a bit more of the new bathroom is done! You definitely need to chill, pamper yourself, and find yourself a new hobby 🤣 oh, it was just amazing! The technology to see what has been going on in those 5 days is just ridiculous!! And to think that is just normally going on induce someone's body without a clue!

@Finnytea I hope you're feeling okay. I was distraught to be someone with polycycstic ovaries and high AMH then had 4 follicles! But I got 1 fertilised as @ivf2021 said and it is now inside and we are just keeping everything crossed that it makes it. Just got to try and keep believing and hoping 🥰🤞🏾

I think I am going through the same I am doing my second IVF cycle from guys ( nhs) I was told I have pcos so they scanned me on day 9 and took my blood, by day 9 I only had 2 out of 20 follicles which were the right size.

In the afternoon the nurse called and said I have high estrogen levels and stop your injections and do egg collection next day. I feel very disappointed that they didn't want to cancel the cycle instead do a bad job and get all immature eggs so none of them fertilise and then they tell us nothing which means we keep blaming our own body.

Trust me they followed a very bad protocol with you if one of your eggs fertilised

I was on gonal f day 3-8 frydemal 6-12 trigger day 12

I am definitely going private after this!

You are right it's quality over quantity but I am stressing that I may not even get more than 1-2 mature eggs which massively reduces your chances. They say 10 eggs gives you the best chance

@Rj1988 thanks for your message. Yes I’m disappointed that they didn’t re scan on Monday with a view to EC on the Wednesday instead of the Tuesday.

I had long , down reg, 375 ovaleap injections , and naferal nasal spray

The embryologist said it was very unusual for none to fertilised or one etc etc but it was clear the eggs were all immature at point of collection

I did the trigger Hcg on Sunday night as directed

I had 7 follicles on right abs 11 on left and body was responding to stims fine

Yeah I’m blaming myself that I did something wrong

Trying to be positive thinking that one egg will make it

Feeling gutted that I didn’t push for another scan on the Monday but I just go with the professionals

@Finnytea - which clinic are you going to?

You had decent number of follicles so it's very strange that only 1 was mature. To me it seems 100% stimulation issue and bad protocol.

If none of the matured eggs make it blastocyst then it can be due to egg quality but not getting matured eggs is the protocol issue.

They must have triggered you too early just like what they doing with me. What I feel is NHS likes to play with a straight bat not sure if yours was nhs or private.

Sending you all the luck with your fertilised embryo. Let's hope that turns into a lil baby.. keep us posted please!!

@ivf2021 thank you. I had egg collection this morning and unfortunately they didn't collect any eggs. Disappointed but clinic were really supportive and we have a follow up appointment next week.
Just got to decide if we want to go again and work out finances if we do. I want too.. My partner not liking sound of the odds as I have am 39 and have a low AMH level.

@ivf2021 - I had my EC yest, it was pretty smooth. Had some cramping after but I feel much better today x
I have pcos so they collected 20 eggs but only a very small number got fertilised and those ones were all ICSI.
The nurse was explaining that there is a debate if ICSI is good or not

I was triggered too soon And I feel maybe that's the reason they were unable to get enough mature eggs but obv they didn't tell me if that was the issue or not.

Guys, I am getting super nervous if I will have even one which will make it to blastocyst. This is my second IVF and I am so scared inside! Feel very low specially when I see all my friends having 2-3 kids already by now and they constantly asking me when will I have one.. it's so draining emotionally

@ivf2021 it was amazing!! No symptoms, just the same sore boobs, a couple of spots but nothing else!

@Needahaircut81 I'm so sorry there were no eggs collected ☹️ sending you big virtual hugs. Glad your clinic are being supportive and you have a follow up appointment. Don't lose hope, there will hopefully be people on here with low AMH that can give you more advice.

@Rj1988 I only had 1 fertilise and it made it to day 5, you only need 1 and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. How many fertilised?

@Rj1988 awww don't loose hope! We have mfi so had to do ICSI. We had a 50% drop of how many fertilised (which is low for icsi) and only had 3 but ended up with 1 blastocyst which is all u need ❤️

@Coops0406 aww fab that's good signs so far! I normally spot during ovulation so convinced myself I would during implantation and haven't so getting paranoid. I'm over thinking everything 😭

Well EC was today and it went very smoothly !! Unfortunately only collected 3 eggs though so out of seven follicles I was quite surprised, we are now keeping our fingers and toes crossed that they are super quality eggos and OH sperm hasn't any issues - 3 is the magic number ... hopefully !!! 🙏🏼 I was quite emotional coming out, it also happens to be one year to the day I had my mexotrethate injection to terminate the ectopic pregnancy so felt like it was an emotional time anyway despite the circumstances!! Hope everyone is doing well, now got the lovely waiting on tenterhooks for the call tomorrow x

@Luan82 I'm not surprised you felt emotional - that's a lot to be dealing with and such a difficult thing to experience! I'm glad that everything went well. 3 eggs will hopefully give you something great. Quality not quantity as we all keep saying. And how right we all out. :)

We're such strong people. This is hella hella hard.

@Ofpalestsilver thanks lovely - I have been looking at a few posts of ladies in the same situ and it's made me feel so much better ! Plus the nurse said a lady this week got one egg from collection and it fertilised so all is not lost xx

@Luan82 thinking of you today 🥰 3 is good and hopefully great quality and you'll get some lovely little embryos. Rest up and try not to think about it until tomorrow. I had 2 and both fertilised, one a bit too much though 🤣 so it definitely happens and have to remain hopeful always.

@ivf2021 trying not to think too much about it. I feel like I would normally before my period comes so just trying to ignore it and occupy my time! Work has actually been a lifesaver for that and I wasn't looking forward to going back!! Did you feel anything or have spotting after EC? I felt nothing and nothing happened after either.

@Aim2912 how are you doing? Are you managing to keep busy?

@Ofpalestsilver are you feeling any better? Not too long now for you...just get the weekend out of the way and you are nearly there 😍

@Coops0406 thank you so much, our family has always considered three a very special number so I'm keeping optimistic, it's very hard when you hear ladies talking about collecting 11 eggs but I've pulled myself out of the temptation to compare!! I did keep thinking of you today and it's so nice to be in good company with such similar numbers ! 🥰 x

@Coops0406 aww so pleased work is keeping u busy! I hope I never have to go through this again but I definitely wouldn't take all this time off I'm going crazy! After EC or ET? I had sore stomach and bled immediately (just a little) after EC. After transfer nothing. I always have a little bleed when I ovulate so thought I would of had something over the past couple of days but nothing.

Hey ladies, I noticed a little bit of pinkish brown discharge this evening… I’m 6dp5dt. Could this be an early period sign do you reckon?

@Ofpalestsilver hope ur ok ❤️ My clinic said if it fails most people don't get their period until 12 days + after transfer. And ur only day 6 so try not to worry! Definitely could be implantation bleeding??? X

@Luan82 well done for getting this far. Glad the ec went well. Hope all 3 of you lucky ones turn in to great embryo.

@Ofpalestsilver, it may be implantation spotting, so try not to stress. When mine failed to implant on my 1st ivf I didn't bleed till 14 days after.

@Coops0406 im doing ok. I ended up getting a really bad UTI, worse I've ever had...But the antibiotics have kicked in so getting better.

@ivf2021 I think I'd be the going crazy like you if i was waiting news with not alot to do. But I bet the rest is helping your body rest up and ready for hopefully what is to come!!

@Aim2912 oh no a UTI…. Hope you’re doing ok. That’s the last thing you need. Are you taking the progesterone in the front door? Does that make it worse?

Also thanks for some slight reassuranc both from you and @ivf2021 I’m feeling a bit crampy and then I saw the stuff on the tissue.
