IVF - egg collection June (starting down regulation in May)

Hi ladies, would be great to chat to anyone who is about to start down regulation, in prep for stims later in the month and egg collection early June.

I start Norethisterone tomorrow. Will be at UCLH/CRGH, first ever IVF. We have MFI.

Mostly terrified of the needles! I have this irrational fear that I could puncture an organ - someone tell me that's not possible?! lol

@Coops0406 @ivf2021 my thoughts are with both for tomorrow, hope it all goes well. I will be praying for you both. Xxx

@ivf2021 ....it's 24/7 football in my home at the moment so i hear ya. But in a way im glad it distracting OH not to think to much about the IVF. Lol

@Aim2912 thank you 🙏🏻 hahah glad I'm not the only one! Like u say tho it's keeping their minds off it. My OH is soooo laid back (total opposite to me ha) but he's actually been quite anxious which is horrible to see! Never seen him anything other than chilled in 12 years. Do u find out tomorrow how many u have to be frozen?

Yep i should get a call before midday tomorrow with an update. If any have reached the blastocyst stage they will freeze them. They sometimes let them grow to day 6 if they haven't reached the blastocyst but still are growing. Enjoy the rest of your day. Soak in all the vid d . X

@Coops0406 @ivf2021 thank you - still having issues with one ovary she said it's just not doing anything (to be honest this might actually explain my low amh and issues ttc) but the other ovary has five follicles - two dominant ones that have grown since the last scan, another scan Tuesday and she said EC likely will be Friday or Saturday numbers wise looking at 3-5 eggs, considering that's only from one ovary I don't think it's too bad really !

@Luan82 that's good numbers, especially with your low AMH, and you've still got quite a few days for them to grow

@ivf2021 I managed to keep busy with brunch with friends and then the afternoon with family...and my nephew (toddler) opting to 💩 on the grass instead of his potty...multiple times!!! That kept us entertained and passed a few hours 🤣🤣🤣 Fingers crossed for us both tomorrow 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾

@Luan82 The last few days of stims upcoming! It will go quickly, and be retrieval before you know it. That's also great results, from one ovary!

I am on day 8 of stims, have a scan on Wedensday. Have quite bad stomach cramps this morning, is this normal? Worried about OHSS but doesn't that happen after egg collection?
Also, can we take paracetamol?

Hope your all ok...after a restless sleep with odd dreams about eggs and embryos, I got my call.

I have 4 blastocyst that have been frozen, which im over the moon about. The grades are not so high, but I'm just happy I have some. 1 is 3bb the others are 2bb. So 3 are very early blastocyst.

@Luan82 hope yours a progressing well. 5 is a decent number. Is it due to your endo that your other ovary is nit growing any?

@Luz192 have they told you when you can have your transfer? Will they let you do it next cycle? Going to make an appointment soon, august for me is very busy and stressfull work wise so want it done in July. Otherwise will have to wait still September.

@Aim2912 wonderful news that they have some Frosties!! The dream is to have a fresh transfer and some frozen but trying to be realistic I know it's not likely for me. Absolutely no idea about the ovary situation, I will be bringing it up with my consultant - the nurse just said I probably ovulate more from the active side, I'm getting quite a bit of cramping today trying not to overthink it!!

@Aim2912 Brill news! It's such a relief after the 5-day update. All the anxiety just melts away (for now, at least!). So I'm glad you got the call and can now relax.

They've not said yet when my transfer will be - they've said they're awaiting the admin team to book in a consultation appointment for me. I am going to try and ask for a natural transfer, if at all possible.

However, I still have some symptoms after OHSS, so I wouldn't want to do it so soon tbh. I think I would prefer August to give my body enough time to fully recover.

Do you know what your next steps are - when they will let you know etc?

@Needahaircut81 hi welcome 👋🏻 I had cramps on stims constantly thought I was going to ovulate but I didn't so don't worry! Maybe ring ur clinic if it's worrying u tho to put ur mind at ease. Yeah paracetamol is fine!

We had our phonecall this morning. If u remember we had 3 fertilised on day 1. They said today that on day 3 one of them disintegrated. Today day 5 one was going to slow and was about a day behind so unable to freeze. However the other one was a 'good' blastocyst and it has been transferred this afternoon 🙏🏻❤️🥰🤞🏻🍟

@Aim2912 it's great you have some in the freezer!! Also, there are good rates for frozen transfers!

@ivf2021 this is great that you have 1 in there now making it's home! It only takes the one!!

We were lucky enough for our 1 embryo to make it to a decent expanded blastocyst and is now in me and we're hoping it wants to stay and grow in there 🤞🏾 cannot believe we are even at this stage! 😍 Care seem to grade them differently to what is the norm, they graded our 6, on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 the best! So we are just above average I guess 🤷🏾‍♀️

Fingers crossed for the 2 week wait to hurry up!!

@ivf2021 @Coops0406 wow what a day! ..So so happy for you both. Let the nesting begin . Take it easy and rest up and relax.

My accupunturiest use to tell me to put warm hands on my lower stomach and think happy thoughts, no idea if it works but did make me think positivly every month.

@Needahaircut81 welcome to the group, hope the stimming is going ok. Everyones different, I know some people do feel cramps. I didn't this time round. Is Wednesday your 1st scan since starting stims?

@ivf2021 thank you, I had a paracetamol, much needed relief. I have accupuncture tomorrow so hopefully that will ease the cramping.

@Aim2912 thank you, yes its my first scan (although listed as final scan on my schedule) they potentially scan again if lining not thick enough/eggs not large enough. My last scan was down regulation on 4th.

So ....last scan is tomorrow- going to ask some difficult questions about my blooming lazy-AF ovary !! My acupuncturist wants to try and 'waken it up' too so I need more details to give her. Anyone else experienced or know anyone that's experienced an ovary that just doesn't want to play ball? I was also wondering about EC - question for the ladies who have already been through it, did you doze off or were you conscious for the procedure? It's looking like Friday or Saturday for EC me which means there is a small chance it will be on OH's birthday- what a treat for him!! 😂x

@Luan82 for the egg collection they put you sleep. But the sedation is light so when you wake up you feel like you were sleeping. Also the sedation only last 30mins. Or at least for me it did both times. I didn't feel a thing.
My left ovary is in the past has always been small, abd on my last ivf cycle only grew to small follicles. I was never told why. Even on clomid it was always my right ovary that had ovulated. But during this ivf my left one produced the same amount as my right. It may have been the caster oil packs I did before ivf or the accupunture that helped it. My left ovary was also hiding behind my uterus. But it moved in place in time for collection. So it may be there was restricted blood flow to it before. But do ask them.

@Aim2912 that's really interesting thanks so much! Pleased they put you to sleep the HyCoSy I had before IVF was pretty traumatic tbh and I have a fairly high pain threshold so I'd rather not be awake !! One ovary is smaller than the other - The nurse said that I also have incredibly mobile ovaries - and a mobile uterus so I may well be a challenge for the docs at egg collection!! 😂 x

@Luan82 I was completely sedated for EC...woke up thinking I was waking up from a really good nap on my sofa...then realised I was being wheeled back up my cubicle. I also didn't feel anything afterwards which is very different to everyone else, but I think it's because nothing much had been going on in my ovaries

@Needahaircut81 I never had any cramps but had headaches and had paracetamol most days! Just no ibuprofen or aspirin. I hope your scan goes well on Wednesday...will it be your first scan on your stims?

@Coops0406 have you elected to take two weeks off now ? I'm in two minds on how much time to take off, my acupuncturist seems to think Leeds try to transfer 5 day embryos if at all possible so I've got a bit of time to make up my mind, I'm also working at home atm so it's not too stressful currently thinking about three to four days should do it and if I have to do another cycle in late summer I've got plenty of holiday left x

@Luan82 I had to isolate as soon as I started stims so worked from home one week then took last week off. Had to take an extra day today for ET but not isolating so back in tomorrow now full time...I can't do much about what's going to happen in the next 2 weeks so am just going to get stuck into work and hope it flies by! I struggled a bit working from home so I was glad to take last week off...my mind was all over the place, and my emotions too, so was best to be home. I guess everyone is different though and work makes the day pass quicker!

@Coops0406 agree completely- sometimes it's better to be out of the house not stuck at home with your thoughts !! x
