Couldn't see a thread for May so I thought I'd start one!

Anyone else doing their cycle in May? I just got my calendar through and all the injections look extremely Not Fun (this is my first time doing it) 😕

All triggered up here too Flowers

TeaAndCrumpets1 · 09/05/2021 07:22

Good luck for your egg collections tomorrow @Hopefuleggs and @DoctorBambino! Xx

Hopefuleggs · 09/05/2021 08:47

@2mumlife thanks for your really helpful post. I'm going to freeze and see what I get from 3 cycles and hope for better results with tweaks to the protocol as you suggest. I'll take a rest for a month or as long as needed before doing a FET. Your message makes sense and gives me hope Flowers

VenusStarr · 09/05/2021 09:28

@DoctorBambino @Hopefuleggs 🎉

I woke up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat... The glamour. I'm taking it as a good sign that something is happening 🙂

How is every one getting on? X

Hopefuleggs · 09/05/2021 09:54

@VenusStarr eeks, yes I didn't have a great sleep either. I feel as though I'm in an oven with all the air sucked out. Now I know what my mother is going through with the change Blush the glamour indeed!

I hope you manage to have a restful day and match fit for tomorrow Glitterball

2mumlife · 09/05/2021 10:19

@Hopefuleggs Hopefully everything goes well with this EC and future ones bring more eggs for you :)

Nix49816 · 09/05/2021 17:41

How's everyone getting on? Good luck to all of you with egg collections this week! I feel absolutely knackered the last few days, not sure if it's side effects of the meds but everything is an effort. Spent the day watching TV and eating McDonald's, dreading it being Monday and work again tomorrow 🙈 At least I'm on 1 week countdown from today to test day 😬

Georgie87B · 10/05/2021 07:25

Morning everyeryone!
Good luck to @Hopefuleggs, @DoctorBambino & @JesHope345 on your EC today, and to anyone else getting any scans and updates today!
I have my 2nd tracking scan today so will hopefully get confirmation of EC for me on Thursday 🤞.

Looking forward to hearing all the update later 😁
@Nix49816 hope this week goes quick for you!

Hopefuleggs · 10/05/2021 07:32

@Nix49816 have you tried any fertility yoga? If not give Bettina Rae a go and her IVF series. Very gentle but empowering and grounding. Its been really great for me and energising through this process x

Bells3032 · 10/05/2021 09:38

@TeaAndCrumpets1 sounds like we'll be starting stims at a similar time. I am due to start mine on the 18th May for my 3rd cycle. I also have low amh (6.5) and an AFC of 6 at the grand old age of 32. We were always doing IVF as my DH had cancer as a child so we have MFI. it's taken two years of meds to get his sperm count up to where ICSI is even a viable option. So we decided to go through several rounds of freezing before a transfer as we want some banked for a second baby in case my AMH drops even lower and/or my DH's meds stop working. Overall despite the low AMH we've had good results. Across both my previous rounds i had 11 mature eggs, 9 fertilised, 6 day 5 blasts and 2 day 6 ones. Both day six ones failed PGS testing but 5/6 of the day 5 ones passed. So we have 5 excellent quality blasts in storage (and they're all excellent quality). Age is an important factor and IVF is all about quality not quantity.

This time round we are hopefully finally gonna get to transfer!!

@2mumlife I learnt BSL level 1 a few years ago but had to stop it when my mum got sick. I got my Level 1 qualification though. It's so much fun.

@TheSnufflet we have PGS tested embroyos so our chances should be fairly high although the doc said it may be more like 60% due to my DH's poor sperm and we may be at higher risk of miscarriage (I am a bit confused about this as this is why we had them PGS tested).

As for protocol I am on short - pergoveris 250 for about 12 days, Frymadel added on day 8 of my cycle. that's it for me!

VenusStarr · 10/05/2021 10:13

Morning everyone. Just had my first monitoring scan. The nurse seemed pleased. I have 3 front runner follicles between 10-12mm and 5 smaller ones between 5-6mm. She doesn't think the smaller ones will come to anything though. But as my amh is low, I think I'm on track as expected. Just hope we get 3 🤞starting my centrotide tonight! But scared about mixing that one.

Hope egg collection goes well @DoctorBambino @Hopefuleggs @JesHope345 🤞

Good luck at your scan @Georgie87B I hope you get egg collection confirmed today.

Your Sunday sounded like mine @Nix49816 and I'm still only on stims! Had zero engery yesterday and dh took a flattering picture of me sparko with the cat! 😂 I hope this week passes early for you. Are you waiting until test day?

How are you getting on @notyetamumbuttrying?

Hope everyone is well xx

notyetamumbuttrying · 10/05/2021 10:35

@Nix49816 good luck for test day! Let's hope the week fly's by!
@Georgie87B exciting about Thursday!
@Bells3032 wow wee what a ride you two have had! All sounds very sensible though and exciting that you get to transfer this time!
@VenusStarr hey lovely, thanks for thinking of me. I'm ok thanks. Just getting used to the daily headaches! I've decided I'm always gonna inject now as I've gotten used to doing it myself now. I'm glad all went well at the scan! Have you gotta take two types of medication together now then?

Good luck to all other egg collections today 🤞🏾

Bells3032 · 10/05/2021 10:38

Anyone else never actually TTC before. I've never had the "oh we're gonna make a baby" or maybe pregnant thing. i am slightly terrified that in a month i may be pregnant and all the ramifications that has

DoctorBambino · 10/05/2021 11:16

Congratulations everyone on scans etc.

15 eggs collected for me. It was great, a lovely sleep 💤 I'm not in any pain at all and so pleased with the results!

Good luck to everyone else ❤

VenusStarr · 10/05/2021 11:34

Sorry about the headaches @notyetamumbuttrying I just feel in a fog. Apparently I asked dh the same question twice yesterday, straight after he answered the first time 😂 I had no recollection.
Yes, 2 evening injections from today. I'm back on Wednesday for another scan. I asked about egg collection and she said it's a bit early, but likely Monday, possibly over the weekend.... So we may not have avoided dh's event 😬 oh well.

🎉 Glad you had a lovely sleep @DoctorBambino rest up today and I hope you get positive news tomorrow xx

notyetamumbuttrying · 10/05/2021 11:52

@DoctorBambino amazing number! Glad all went well 💕
@VenusStarr yeah feel similar. My sleep is being disturbed too so that isn't helping matters. It's weird what it does to you right. A glimpse into the menopause! Well hopefully it can still be avoided, time will tell x

Bells3032 · 10/05/2021 11:57

@DoctorBambino 15 is perfect. i read some studies that show around 13 is the ideal number to have the best numbers without diminished quality. So 15 sounds amazing!

StrongEagle · 10/05/2021 12:04

@DoctorBambino that's amazing news!

I am loving everyone's updates, it's so nice to have a forum with everyone going through it all at the same time.

My EC is booked in for Wednesday, so should be triggering tonight! 🤞 I just have one more scan this afternoon and he will tell me about timings etc. I can't tell you how excited I am about not having to inject Fyremandal anymore 😂

Did anyone get any side effects from their trigger?

JesHope345 · 10/05/2021 14:41

@DoctorBambino glad your egg collection went well. I also had a nice snooze, I went in a bit anxious and before I knew it I woke up in the recovery room.

I got 25 eggs, which is quite shocking considering my progress in the first week or so. I’m expecting a few may over-mature/immature as the size of my follicles varied massively during the scans. But will have to wait for the call tomorrow. I won’t know if it will be all freeze yet they will monitor me closely to see how I get on. I don’t mind whatever option just hoping for good quality embryos 🙏🤞.

C1aire85 · 10/05/2021 16:33

Hi all - can I join?

First timer here and doing ICSI. I take my last norethisterone this week and start stim injections next week. Provisionally booked in for EC w/c 31st May - am excited and petrified all at the same time. Found this thread and it's so interesting reading all your updates, and getting an insight into what's ahead.
Hope you don't mind me hopping on and reading all your updates - it's so nice knowing other people are going through similar experiences X

Bells3032 · 10/05/2021 16:40

@C1aire85 welcome welcome. I am due for my EC on the 31st too if all goes to time! Are you planning a fresh or frozen transfer?

We just paid for our next round. fingers crossed our last round! decided against PGS testing for this round. We have 5 PGS tested blasts in the freezer and 5/6 of my blasts have been normal so seems a bit of a waste of money really.

eeep. still need to sort the drugs though. hoping to start next tues!

C1aire85 · 10/05/2021 17:06

@Bells3032 Hi 👋 Yay hopefully a same day EC buddy. It once seemed such a long way off but is soon coming round isn't it. We haven't really discussed fet so assuming I'm having a fresh but guess it's subject to everything being as it should be over the next couple of weeks? Im not too familiar with PSG - is it done routinely or optional? Again it's not something that our clinic have mentioned so guessing we're not having it! Makes me sound like I haven't done my research but I've spent hours googling things - this is normal right?! We are using Bourn Hall - they are absolutely brilliant - I can't articulate what I mean but they have obviously done this so many times it just seems very text book for them. They've given me the schedule and off I go until my first tracking scan - I'm just cracking on pretending like I actually know what I'm doing 😂

Bells3032 · 10/05/2021 17:10

@C1aire85 omg there is so much to learn and remember it's insane.

31st May seems forever away still. DH and I have made the decision to isolate as well so as to not risk treatment being cancelled and i am so bored already!!

PGS isn't standard esp amongst younger people. it's also stupidly expensive. it's just cos of DH's poor sperm we wanted to ensure that we had lots of good quality eggs in storage for a second child before we went for a first child.

What is your med protocol?

everyone on here is so friendly so feel free to ask anything!

StrongEagle · 10/05/2021 17:18

Afternoon everyone x

Just had my last scan before EC on Wednesday and I have been told now I need to do a freeze all as there is a risk of OHSS. A bit disappointed because I'm impatient but definitely don't want to risk getting sick. Has this happened to anyone else? My consultant said I can do an FET on my next cycle, so hopefully I get get straight back on it next month, he said it will be tablets and not injections x

Has anyone else been in this boat?

C1aire85 · 10/05/2021 17:28

@Bells3032 that's good you are isolating already, especially as hopefully you can try and use the time to de-stress and prepare yourself. And you know you're nice and safe - giving you the best possible chance. I don't have to isolate until 25th May, a week before EC, although I have to do a test the day I start stims. I've taken leave from the 21st for 3 weeks though so hopefully I'll be ok. Can't decide if I'm more excited about the ICSI or not having to work for 3 weeks!
So with PGS do u have to freeze first rather than fresh?
For my meds it says Gonal-F, cetrotide and then onto cyclogest. All new to me so I have no idea what's in store - are these familiar to you? X
