Our other thread is now full so thought I would start this one to continue the chat.

@Beaglemum91 I'm waiting for my period so I can start meds for FET so that is really helpful information about the embryo transfer process. Thank you. Did you have your partner on Facetime or anything for it?

@HopingForRainbow2021 yes it went well.. I had my Day5 transfer today 😊. They were able to collect 10 eggs and 7 fertilised. Now the two weeks wait

My initial consultation is still a while away but I'm feeling a bit sad today. Maybe because I'm spotting waiting for AF start. I feel silly going straight for IVF but I don't know what else to do. With DHs low sperm count, it seems like this is the only way to guarantee that sperm will meet egg. I want to push through and see if it can happen naturally but I just don't think it will. Just feeling a bit sorry for myself today...

We all get down days! 7 years wev been trying and only now agreed IVF is the only way, husbands sperm is below low so we are having ICSI. Keep your head held high you will get there x

Thank you @Icsi2021 you're definitely a stronger person than me. I've already given up trying. You kept faith for 7 years and were brave enough to go for IVF. I'm definitely in awe of your resilience. I really hope this works out for you. How are you feeling on the meds?

I’ve just caught up reading the entire thread and it’s been super informative! I hope it’s okay for me to join?

I just finished my treatment consultation today so I am all set to start on my next period. I’m feeling nervous get excited and praying this will work 🙏🏼 We are doing icsi ivf at abc Harley street due to male factor infertility.

For those of you who have had collections or transfers- any tips? I wondered if I needed to buy anything to prepare.

Would be lovely to stay in contact and see how our journey develops 🙏🏼

@Prayingforabubba welcome :) I’m with ABC Harley street too - second cycle for me after a failed cycle in Feb. One tip (tmi alert!) is to be well stocked up on panty liners after EC. You start pessaries that evening and it’s quite a messy and unpleasant business to be honest - I almost prefer the injections! I was really nervous before first EC, but genuinely there is nothing to worry about. Both times I have been completely asleep and remembered nothing about it :) If you have any other questions at all please do ask away xx

@unCliche i never realised how many people struggle to conceive until i found this thread and see it all written in black & white, it made me realise we are not alone. I feel fine on the meds 6th Bemfola today, i do have a few bruises and a little bloated but nothing i cant handle x

Hi everyone!

I am so glad I found this continuation I spent yesterday evening and some of today catching up on the old thread and now this one. Was so sad when I got to the end and it was closed 

I have been trying to find a thread for ABC or create new or old to better inform my clinic decision and then also to get support once we go through the process! It seems like mostly positive things to say about the clinic which is great and some lovely success stories!

My husband and I have been trying for just under 1.5years and we are currently unexplained. @unCliche I totally hear you on wanting to move forward. I struggled a little with feeling like we hadn't waited to try long enough before exploring other options and IVF has always been seen like a last resort. But this TTC journey is Soooo hard and really wears you down.

You ladies who have been at it for years are so strong to remain hopeful and positive and keep going.

We have had initial scans at create at Paul's and had the virtual consultations with them aswell. At the end we asked if we could move over to ABC because we fit criteria and of course it is cheaper. So have the ABC consultation tomorrow so hoping for good news and approval so that we can move forward. If we can then my next cycle should start 17th May and I hope to start then. The patient coordinator at Create said that should be realistic and possible so fingers crossed.

Anyone starting a new cycle around the 17th?

@Prayingforabubba when would your cycle begin? Sorry if I missed it.

Hi there, I’ve read the whole thread too and commented a little while back but I just had my treatment consultation with abc Harley St today and am due to start next week hopefully. Hubby’s SA showed MFI today which was slightly unexpected so will also be having ICSI. Slightly nervous about the whole process, mostly remembering when to take the injections but would be glad of the support of anyone else starting out or who knows more about it! Good luck everyone :)

@Aimes2021 we would be a few weeks apart then, do keep us updated on your journey. Reading the thread was really encouraging ahead of starting my cycle so I'm glad there are a few of us here about to begin.

Sorry you had an unexpected result for SA. Silver lining is there is something they can do to help and your in the right hands. All the positive energy for your cycle 🙂

You too Hoping, I think being able to go through all the ups and downs together will be really helpful, glad to hear that you’ll be starting soon as well. Abc have been really lovely so far. I feel good about the ICSI, it helps to know why we may have been struggling and like you say there is a solution and we can crack on with a plan in place to manage it. All the best for your cycle too.

Please keep me updated with your journey. Meds will be delivered next Friday and my cycle should start next Sunday. I’m feeling super excited but super scared about the needles. Has anyone used numbing cream? I’m wondering if I should buy some x

@Prayingforabubba, looks like it! Hoping for meds next wed to start approx thurs or Friday next week. No idea on the numbing cream but I’ve done blood thinning injections for weeks before and then it was all about changing where you inject each time, hoping these will be ok too. Look forward to hearing how you get on.

@Icsi2021 Are you injecting yourself? I've pierced my own ears and septum so I'm hoping it won't be worse than that. When are you having your eggs collected?

@Hoping4baby21 It's so great that you get it! I didn't want IVF to seem like a last resort as I knew it'd make me feel like I was broken not being able to conceive naturally so I'm just viewing it as a way to outsource the conception 😂 like a hiring a gardener or a builder. Basically leaving it in the hands of the experts. How did your consultation go today? Have you been approved? Fingers crossed you have! Do you know how many follicles they saw on your scan? Last private scan I did, I had quite a quite a number of follicles (maybe slightly polycystic but not PCOS) so I hope my ovaries are just as full when I have my scan at ABC!

@Aimes2021 sorry to hear about the MFI. If you don't mind sharing, what were his results? DH's count back in January was 10.5m/ml but I'm hoping that's not too low for standard IVF or else we'd have to mentally prepare ourselves for ICSI too.

@Prayingforabubba I've read some people use ice to numb the area for a while so you could try that too? Were you prescribed additional medication?

Since you ladies will be starting/have started meds, you're all quite a bit ahead of me. How long after your initial consultations did you guys have your treatment consultation? My initial consultation is on 1st June, and AF after that will be due 17th June so I'm hoping to start the process then!

@unCliche yes i put the needle in but hubby pushes the solution in as it a little hard to hold the needle and push the stuff in, its lush doing it together tho 💗 im a little bruised but nothing really. Im not sure maybe il know tomorrow. They are still a little small i had 16 there yesterday but 7 are bit further than the rest but if its 7 im happy 😘

@Icsi2021, love that you do the injections together, that’ll be a great memory when bubba arrives. I heard that abc do egg collection as early as day 11, how many days are you now?

@unCliche, I don’t mind sharing. Hubby’s was around 8mill/ml but morphology was low too at 2%. His was normal 4 years ago when we started on this journey but really pleased that ICSI is an option. To answer your question on the timings, I managed to get cancellations for both the initial and treatment consultations so scan was 20/4, virtual consult was 23/4 and treatment consult was 28/4. Just paid for treatment today! Good luck with getting started :)

@Aimes2021 i am 8th day of bemfola today and second day of Certrotide, possibly know tomorrow when EC will be x

Also if any1 wants to look back i attached my hubby's Semen freeze results... they were terrible but we have enough for 1 treatment cycle... as long as they survive the thawing 🤞🏼 X

Had my ABC virtual consultation the Dr we spoke to was really nice and really went into detail. Providing I can give my MMR vaccination proof, get my TSH redone (although my GP are asking for a letter from the fertility clinic in order to do this - is that normal) My GP is usually good with test but if ABC can do it I would rather do it there as it will be quick. The cycle I want to start on is 17th May so I want to be sure we have everything in place.

She said treatment consultations are booked so fingers and toes crossed we can get in and she said the manager would be calling me today or tomorrow to go over the treatment plan, costs etc. Has everyone else had that? What should I expect?

@Aimes2021 good to hear that you were able to get cancellations and get in when you wanted. Im really hoping 2 weeks is enough time!

@unCliche Absolutely, it has also felt like a pressure off making the decision to go down the IVF route because like you said it is now in someone else's hands. The consultation went well thanks! Yes we can proceed with ABC just need to redo my TSH blood test and provide proof of MMR vaccine which my GP should have. I have already called them to get it. (she kept mentioning by BMI it is 28 and I was like alright I get it I could do with losing some weight can we stop now lol!) But i know its to get the best out of treatment and already made changes anyway.

So if I were you I would make sure any tests you may need you get done, the proof of vaccine and also proof of a normal smear test result. That way when it comes to your consultation you will be right in.
