Our other thread is now full so thought I would start this one to continue the chat.

@Beaglemum91 I'm waiting for my period so I can start meds for FET so that is really helpful information about the embryo transfer process. Thank you. Did you have your partner on Facetime or anything for it?

@Icsi2021 so excited for you xxx

Thanks everyone for advice on water drinking. @Hoping4baby21 the sports bottle is a good idea!

@lawandgin I had no idea I had a retroverted uterus until my first abc scan! I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow. As @hoping4baby21 also said, the doctor performing the procedure will be a specialist who does this day in day out, so hopefully might be a bit more skilled at it than a practice nurse doing a smear test.

Hoping4baby21 · 26/07/2021 16:48

@Hopeful1234567 I get what you mean about the gradings and I get quite in my head as well. we had 2 4AA, 1st failed, 2nd is to be seen as it is onboard now. And our final one is 4BC. But I have read about success from all sorts of various gradings so as hard as it is, it is possible, they told me it was good but online it says poor for 4BC.

I think if this doesn't work we will do another retrieval and then take a break but would like to have more embryos frozen at my current age.

I'm keep flip flopping between I have the same chances as anyone and despite the first transfer not being a success this could be the one. And then being so convinced that because I don't feel any different or feel anything other than progesterone symptoms (mainly sore boobs) it hasn't worked. I'm so scared of having another negative again, and not wanting to deal with that pain. Urgh. Trying not to think about, it isn't working. I'm not a very productive worker today. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Hopeful1234567 · 26/07/2021 23:37

@Hoping4baby21 yeah it doesn’t make sense. My last one was a 5BB and I was told that was high but online it’s classed as average so just very confusing. Completely understand. That’s how I feel, if my next one doesn’t work would rather do another retrieval, especially with the money aspect as we are paying up front rather than monthly as couldn’t bare paying for something we don’t have. I know I’ll be like that, feel like I’m being negative already about it. I have heard the more cycles you do the better the chances but doesn’t help my mentality. I completely agree with that, it’s so hard to put yourself back out there after a fail, it’s the hurt I can’t bare feel like I’ve just got over it and to a place where I’ve accepted it now. I know if I don’t have any symptoms I’ll over think it and if I do I’ll over think it, can’t win at all. I had no symptoms at all last time. My partner and I really suffered with the hurt of it last time and it did take a toll on our relationship. This time I’m going to test using early tests before hand rather than being told via phone call again.

Hoping4baby21 · 27/07/2021 10:10

@kittyfantastico21 best of luck today!!!!!

lawandgin · 27/07/2021 11:31

@kittyfantastico21 best of luck today! X

Clapham4 · 27/07/2021 12:05

Hope it goes perfect @kittyfantastico21💕

I’m sat around waiting for my Day 3 update, it’s painful just waiting and waiting 😅

lawandgin · 27/07/2021 12:21

@Clapham4 I bet it is! How are you feeling after EC? X

Hoping4baby21 · 27/07/2021 13:13

@Clapham4 it really is hard to wait my heart would almost jump out of my chest every time my phone rang! 5 out of 5 fertilising is great so I have every faith that you will get a great day 5 update.

I am so knackered today, I woke up wanting to nap straight after. These hormones are a lot!

Hope everyone has a lovely day.

Hopeful1234567 · 27/07/2021 13:30

@kittyfantastico21 thinking of you today! Sending you lots of luck 💓

Clapham4 · 27/07/2021 13:31

Thanks @lawandgin & @Hoping4baby21

Feeling fine after EC. I got my second Covid Vaccination yesterday so I’m a junkie for needles at this stage 😂

So they finally called! They said all 5 are doing well, 3 really good and 2 good. She didn’t give me any grades or anything. So that’s a relief!! Xx

lawandgin · 27/07/2021 13:59

@Clapham4 that is a relief! Such good news. Wow you really are a sucker for the needles atm aren't you 🤣

Clapham4 · 27/07/2021 14:09

@lawandgin Hahah love a needle 😂

I checked with the clinic about getting it and they said it’s fine, and I wanted to do at least 3 days before transfer so managed to get a walk in yesterday 🤗

How’s everyone doing today? X

lawandgin · 27/07/2021 14:23

@Clapham4 well, I am working but also spending a reasonable amount of time on MN... funnily enough my motivation for work is pretty low at the moment as I am a tad preoccupied... I have my first scan on Friday and I just want to know how things are going already which is totally ridiculous. Just need to calm down a bit I think! Work is super busy too so I could do with just getting on with it 🙃 are you working atm? X

kittyfantastico21 · 27/07/2021 14:34

Thank you all so much for your good wishes, it’s so lovely to have support from others going through it! Transfer went well! It did hurt quite a bit, more than the scans do but I would say probably not as much as my last smear test. And it was bearable with some deep breathing. One of my big fears was that they wouldn’t be able to get the catheter through my cervix to do the transfer at all and that bit was totally fine and I barely felt it. Because I had a freeze all on my fresh cycle, the best embryo was frozen on day 3 in case none made it to day 5 and that’s the one that was thawed for transfer. It ended up being a 4BB, but I have a 4AA from the day 5 blastocysts so I asked if that should be transferred instead but they said no and there was only a small difference in the quality. I’m just going to try not to obsess over embryo grading and what will be will be, and if it doesn’t work and we need to try again at least we have the 4AA for that. I feel weirdly calm now that it’s done - long may it last!

@Clapham4 great news on your update! That sounds really promising, fingers crossed for day 5. Really glad you were able to get vaccinated.

@lawandgin good luck for your first injection tonight!

@Hoping4baby21 hope you’re doing okay in the TWW!

kittyfantastico21 · 27/07/2021 14:39

@lawandgin sorry, I missed that you started injections yesterday! How did it go? Hope it wasn’t too bad and it gets even easier for your second one.

Hoping4baby21 · 27/07/2021 14:43

@Clapham4 that is great! Knew it would be a good update.

Like @lawandgin I am struggling to do anything today. Work has finally tapered off as the project is in full swing and I'm aimless and so distracted. I keep seeing posts about people getting positives at 5 days past and I dunno why but it is messing with my head. Although I am NOT testing especially not at 5 days past which is today. I'm not ready for the bubble to be burst.

@kittyfantastico21 as you can tell I'm struggling but I knew by the 5th day I would be. I'm so distracted and tired I'm tempting to call in sick for the rest of the afternoon and take a nap.

lawandgin · 27/07/2021 15:14

@kittyfantastico21 so glad to hear your transfer was okay and less painful that it might have been. Time to try and relax and let the magic happen now (easier said than done I know) When is your OTD - the 7th August maybe? It was absolutely fine in the end thanks - although I did sit with the needle pointed at my stomach for a good five minutes before actually doing it haha. I even handed it to my husband then decided I couldn't possibly let him do it Grin To be honest I'm more nervous about the cetrotide as that's supposed to sting a bit, but I can avoid that for a few more days!

@Hoping4baby21 a nap sounds like a really good idea. I think I am going to try and finish reasonably on time tonight and just relax with a book or catch up on the Olympics. It's so hard to think about anything else though!

kittyfantastico21 · 27/07/2021 16:25

@Hoping4baby21 sorry you’re struggling today. At least it’s almost the end of the work day. Hopefully you’ll find something good to watch as a distraction this evening. Thank god for the Olympics!

@lawandgin Glad your first injection went well! I also took a good five minutes to do the first one, I kept moving my hand towards my tummy and then stopping! I didn’t find cetrotide stung really. The skin around where you inject can be red and a bit itchy for a little while afterwards but that goes away. OTD is 5th august, so 9 days past transfer. At the moment I feel very calm but also feel like I’m not expecting it to work, which is a weird set of emotions. I’m sure it’ll be very up and down over the next 9 days…

Clapham4 · 27/07/2021 16:42

@kittyfantastico21 great news it’s done! And yay it wasn’t as bad as you thought!! Do they give and recommendations for what do to now? Relax or live as normal?

@lawandgin centrotide is fine, my first one stung and I googled and someone said wipe the needle with the alcohol before you put it in and after you do the squirt to get rid of the air bubbles. Apparently it’s the substance that causes the stinging on your skin. It worked for me! And had no problems after the first one.

I totally get you guys about trying to concentrate on work. I’m the same! But actually took this week and a bit of next week off, as I’ve so much leave to take. So it’s nice to just be chilled at home.

@Hoping4baby21 when do you think you’ll test? God it’s so hard it comes down to one line on a test isn’t it!! Everything crossed for you though. Xx

Hoping4baby21 · 27/07/2021 16:43

@kittyfantastico21 urgh yes that was me after transfer, I think up and down is exactly how I'd describe it. I've never know 9 days to feel so long. Gone out for a hot drink and a walk - work can wait I wasn't doing it anyways so 🤷🏽‍♀️. Then later I'll have love island although last night I struggled to get through it I was so tired.

All the baby dust for the next 9 days and the best news on OTD!

IzzyStar · 27/07/2021 17:17

Hi everyone,
I hope it's okay for me to post. I've had my EC 2 weeks ago and ideally I would like to have had the fresh transfer, but due to overstimulation I have to freeze my embryo. For some reason emotionally I hadn't prepared myself for this outcome. Waking up bleeding really scared me and the lovely nurses reassured me that it's normal after EC. I'm just ball of nervous energy and not knowing fully what to expect. I'm currently waiting for my period to come around to start the transfer. I would like to really hear about anyone transfer experiences and what you did to prepare yourself.

lawandgin · 27/07/2021 18:51

Great tip, thanks @Clapham4 I will definitely be trying that!

@kittyfantastico this probably isn't the right thing to listen to right now, but the other day I listened to the episode of the BFN podcast where one of the presenters did an audio diary of her TWW following a FET. It was so up and down, it actually made me cry a bit. I won't spoil it for you in case you haven't listened to it. I imagine I am going to be in much the same position in the future as I am convinced I will be at risk of OHSS too!

So much for finishing on time today... I've just logged off 🤦‍♀️ dinner, injection, Olympics, bath and bed I think!

lawandgin · 27/07/2021 18:51

Total tag fail in previous post @kittyfantastico21 !
