@Ripleysfirst aww I know, it’s so hard isn’t it. I have been doing the exact same thing, I wish I could find it comforting but I just don’t. Before we started this round I just had a feeling like I just knew that our first transfer wouldn’t be our time. Now we’ve had it I’ve got my hopes up but I think that’s quite silly of me to have done. Fingers crossed for you, I hope you get your results back quickly! I can’t imagine having to wait for a blood test result, my clinic don’t do bloods, I’m just left on my own with some cheapo tests (though I’ve bought my own pink dye ones)

wishfulbean · 20/03/2021 09:51

Morning everyone!

Thought I'd update and hopefully provide some reassurance for anyone else who was worried about cramping too.

I had really quite bad cramps like I was on my period (I'd have described them as more than mild cramps!) and also quite bad nausea at times. Anyway it was my testing day yesterday and it was BFP!

I mentioned the bad cramping to the clinic and they pointed out this was actually quite normal and as long as there was no bleeding it was all good. It's due to a combination of the progesterone they are having me take and the fact I've had a fresh cycle where 8 eggs were collected. Therefore there are multiple corpus luteum that the hcg little embryo is giving out are ultimately triggering too. Queue all the hormones and all the cramping! (In my case at least! Also perfectly normal not to have symptoms!)

Now to keep everything crossed that the BFP leads to a nice healthy 5/6week scan! I now see what @Mrbay and others mean about the worry still being there post 2ww! I get the impression for many of us that the worry may be there until a baby is ever in our arms... and then we get to face all the worry of being a parent!... at least we would have had practice with worrying!

Rachae · 20/03/2021 09:58

Thanks @ThePurpleFairy Smile, yea I'll see what they say. Seems pretty unfair to put off someone's EC and risk all this time due to short staffing!
On the sore boobs panic... I've been pregnant before (they didn't last but lasted a while to understand symptoms) and the boobs kicked in around week 6 of pregnancy. That's about right for research so I think any sore boobage from IVF is likely to be the hormone response and not the pregnancy response. So I wouldn't worry on symptoms at all! X

thetallgirl · 20/03/2021 10:21

Congrats @wishfulbean! Welcome to the continuing worrying, but let's face it, it's probably the best kind of worrying to have.

@Rachae try not to worry about being delayed for a day. I think the eggs don't mature until you take the trigger anyway. I was delayed a lot - ended up stimming for 14days. Initially it was because one ovary was slightly behind the other, but then I got the impression it was just more convenient for the clinic to delay another day. All worked out for me.

Rachae · 20/03/2021 12:25

Congrats @wishffulbean!
Thanks @Thetallgirl and really pleased you had good news!
Well EC is definitely going ahead for me and 1 day later than expected. They saw 12 follicles on the scan today at good sizes and think there's a few more small ones that might catch up. So glad to be almost out of injections.. Not particularly looking toward to the anxious day 1-5 roller-coaster coming up after EC tho! (I got bad news last Time so I'm nervous same thing happens again) x

MrTumbleTumble · 20/03/2021 13:43

Congratulations on the BFP @wishfulbean! I agree with the "continuing to worry club" but hopefully the early scan won't feel like it's too far away.

@Rachae your numbers sound really promising, so fingers crossed everything goes well for EC. The wait for 5 days after EC is agonising but at least you get updates every couple of days and you know what's going on with them. Hope you don't find it too stressful.

JessTTC · 20/03/2021 18:12

Congratulations @wishfulbean on your BFP! I thought the TWW was bad but time is going backwards now I’m waiting for the viability scan. I’ve booked a private one for the interim because my clinic has booked me in for 7+5 and I’m not a patient person!

ThePurpleFairy · 20/03/2021 19:53

Congratulations @wishfulbean! I can only imagine how the worry just continues, this process really damages you mentally and it’s so sad that we can’t just enjoy things.

@Rachae thanks for the heads up, that makes me feel a little better though I still have an underlying bad feeling. 🤞🏻 For your egg collection, wishing you all the good luck, your follicles sound promising for sure!

@JessTTC I wouldn’t be able to wait either, if I’m ever lucky enough to get a BFP I reckon I will be a serial private scan booker

Mrbay · 21/03/2021 09:25

Morning all!

Massive congratulations @wishfulbean!!

@JessTTC - when do you have your first scan? I'm slightly tempted to book one in for next week as I'll be 6 weeks but I don't know if I want to burst my bubble yet but I am so anxious at the mo.

OP posts:
JessTTC · 21/03/2021 09:56

@Mrbay I know exactly what you mean, I am so anxious about everything but having had so much pinky brown spotting I am so nervous to know whether or not everything is progressing as it should be. We have booked a scan for next weekend when I should be 6+1 - it might be too early for a heartbeat but I’m hoping I will at least see the sack in the right place as I have been having nightmares about ectopic pregnancies.
My clinic has been really relaxed about the bleeding, and have said if it’s still happening tomorrow (which it is) they’d refer me to the EPU - which annoys me when I’ve paid them thousands and they have all the equipment and are seemingly very unconcerned by the bleeding I’ve had over the last couple of weeks. So maybe I’ll get a scan before the private one this week?
I am so looking forward to the day I can actually enjoy being pregnant!! Will it ever happen?!

pincushion11 · 21/03/2021 11:00

Hello all,
Im new to mumsnet and a IVF 1st timer and never been a forum person, but going out of my mind on the 2WW. Im hope you dont mind me joining in.

@Ripleysfirst I think we are similar. Im on 1st round, only had 6 eggs collected but 5 fertilised, 3 survived: 1 put in and 2 in the freezer. Im 38 (almost 39) and on day 6 post transfer. Im dying to test, but know i shouldnt. Have you got any symptoms?

Ripleysfirst · 21/03/2021 11:03

Hi @pincushion11! I had sore boobs but they’ve settled now.
I honestly just have pretty standard PMS cramps now, but I know that the symptoms of AF and early pregnancy are identical so I’m refusing to test. Oh and a cold sore joined them party this morning. Haven’t had one in months!
Trying so hard to be positive but not TOO positive and just keep calm. It’s so difficult!
At least I know that if it’s not my time this month, I don’t have to go through EC again, for another two rounds.
When’s your OTD?
I’ve a blood test booked on Thursday.

pincushion11 · 21/03/2021 11:17

That was fast! :)
It is so difficult. I keep reading in to every little twinge. I feel nothing, thats why i asked. Had cramping after the ET but i know thats normal, but since then nada. So starting to feel negative but want to keep the hope up. Sounds like you have a few things going on which might be good signs... Stay positive (but like you say not too positive). Me too trying to think that i have 2 more 'gos' if this doesnt succeed.
My test day is 14 days so next Sunday. But thinking I might cheat and do a Thursday test (im off work). Let me know how you are feeling :)

An open question: Is it normal to do progesterone injections? I thought id only get pessaries, but im also having to do 2 progesterone (lubion) injections each day. And it sucks. For anyone who's on it i feel your pain.

pincushion11 · 21/03/2021 11:17

@Ripleysfirst

Ripleysfirst · 21/03/2021 11:20

@pincushion11 I was wondering the same about the injections! I’ve heard they’re more effective than the pessaries (which I’m on), but the pessaries were working okay for me...

I’ve had some very minor spotting this morning. It’s either AF early or...is it too late for implantation bleeding?

Ripleysfirst · 21/03/2021 11:21

And yeah you’ve got me on a Sunday with the phone constantly in my hand 😂

ThePurpleFairy · 21/03/2021 12:47

Welcome @pincushion11 👋🏻 I am also in the 2WW and I’m going out of my mind also

I did a stupid thing this morning and did a test 5dp5dt. It was of course negative but I keep telling myself I can see a squinter, though I think it’s just my brain seeing what it wants to see. I just can’t decide what I would find easier, the hope fading away each day or crashing like a tonne of bricks on OTD 😩

pincushion11 · 21/03/2021 17:09

@Ripleysfirst ill tell you how i go if they are worth it or not. They are bloody oilbased so they hurt more than the 'real' injections.
And i wouldnt worry about spotting, it could be a good thing.

@ThePurpleFairy thank you! and i feel your pain, isnt the 2ww the worst. and you making me want to test early even more now. If you can see a faint line, that is probably a faint line. When is your 'real' test day?

ThePurpleFairy · 21/03/2021 17:47

@pincushion11 aww bless you, if you have the willpower then wait because I’m driving myself mental now. I don’t think there was a line there really, I think I’m just seeing what I want to see. I’ll maybe do another in the morning to see if there’s any change. It’s even worse because we are locked down I’m just stuck at home going crazy

Rachae · 21/03/2021 21:35

Hey everyone!
So I've finally got to the trigger shot day. Hurrah, what a long 5 weeks! My schedule says that tonight will be the last day of injections too and I can't remember from last round... Do I definitely stop the buserelin (down reg) tonight?

I'm just confused as wouldn't that mean I get a period, if I stop taking it? Given it stops periods.. Xx

thetallgirl · 21/03/2021 23:10

@Rachae I definitely took Buserelin on the evening of my trigger. I was told to take the Buserelin at normal time (8pm for me) and then the trigger at 10.30. Nurse specifically said not to take them together.

Then the day after trigger, no injections at all. Hope all goes well the next few days! Wishing you a good EC

ThePurpleFairy · 22/03/2021 07:13

@Rachae what did you end up doing? Sorry I don’t have any advice as I didn’t take Buserelin I was on short protocol so my ovulation prevention was using Fyremadel

Melissa1983 · 22/03/2021 07:39

Good Morning Ladies

I'm after some advise please. I got a BFP after my frozen transfer. OTD was 14/03 still a BFP anyway I had a clear blue digital in the house and decided to use it Friday, it says 1-2 weeks pregnant. This freaked me out so ordered FRERs off Amazon. Used the first one yesterday afternoon BFN so thought I won't freak and tried this morning with FMU and BFN. I'm feel so sad, I only tested because I had a test no other reason and now this. I've had some really light barely there brown spotting but that's it. I've called the clinic this morning so awaiting a call back from them now but has anyone experienced similar to set my mind at ease! I'm actually in shock 😞 x

Mrbay · 22/03/2021 07:54

Morning All!

@JessTTC - I've got everything crossed for a positive update. I spoke to DH regarding having a private scan this week and he just wants to wait until the 1st April and I do get him as if there isn't a heartbeat I'll then be stressing until the 7-week scan. Difficult to know what is best to do.

welcome @pincushion11 - love the name! fingers crossed for Sunday.
I'm on lubion, it isn't the nicest of the drugs as it is a little thicker so a slow injection is a must to stop the sting!

yep still way too early @ThePurpleFairy, HCG doesn't get released into your system until day 6 and then some pregnancy tests won't pick it up until day 9. I know it is a little kick when you only see the one line but its still making itself comfy in there.

@Rachae - oh how exciting!! The buserelin will still be in your system for a few days so you won't come on your period plus the trigger is the hormone to signal that the eggs are ready to be released/made less sticky by the body, so you wouldn't come on for another 14-days or so naturally - all your hormones are doing their thing!
If you aren't sure, regarding what to take, give your clinic a call.

@Melissa1983 - could be fake tests? Can you get to a chemist and grab a new test today? How many DPT are you?

Melissa1983 · 22/03/2021 08:03

@Mrbay I'm 5+4 today so 20 dpt. I did use those tests when I tested before OTD but maybe I should go get a test from a shop just to be sure I really can't believe it, wish I'd not tested as stayed in my bubble. If I am no longer pregnant should I have had a bleed could the meds be still holding it off?
