@BrandyM I woke up in the night really needing the loo and so tested then and it was negative, sadly. I had a really full bladder and the negative line showed up almost instantly.

I have to call the clinic at some point. I will ask just in case the hormones would be weak having such a full bladder and having drunk a lot of water. But I think the lack of even a faint line tells me it's a straightforward no.

Crushed.

MF1981 · 18/12/2020 09:05

So sorry to hear this @lucymills1234

ShiMo · 18/12/2020 09:24

I am so, so sorry @lucymills1234. Sending you strength and a virtual hug xx

BrandyM · 18/12/2020 10:21

@lucymills1234 I'm so sorry to hear that! I really hope the clinic say that it could be because your FMU was diluted. Don't want to give you any false hope but can you try again tomorrow morning without drinking too much water tonight and holding it for a minimum of 4 hours? Also, if you haven't, try with an early detection test like FRER or clear blue just in case your hormone is rising slowly. The test my clinic gave me was less sensitive (25iu/ml) whereas the FRER detects something like 6.3iu/ml so I used both just to be sure.

I know it's not much consolation but if it's still negative, you've got another good quality in the freezer as backup. I listen to a few fertility podcasts on various IVF cases and so many success stories where people get their BFP with a FET after the fresh one fails. As your egg was top quality, it could be that your body needed to recover after all the stimming?

I hope the clinic gives you some positive directions on next steps. In the meantime, take good care of yourself and hope you are able to enjoy the festive period. Let's know how you get on xx

@Gensola how are you doing? Did you hear back from the clinic? I'm so sorry they've been really rubbish in getting you started with the FET😕

I’m really sorry @lucymills1234 - I know how crushing that negative result early in the morning is. Sending you lots of love. Hopefully your clinic will have some good advice for you on testing again.
When I called my clinic with my negative result on Wed they said they usually advise to keep taking the progesterone for two more days and test 48 hours later to make sure. I had already started spotting and just wanted my period to come (to start processing the disappointment) so I stopped the progesterone. They said that was OK as
I knew my body and could tell if I was starting my period.

Sorry again. I hope you have some friends and family to support you in this tough time xxx

Roo45 · 18/12/2020 11:09

@lucymills1234 I'm so sorry. It's so hard. I know it might not feel like much now but hopefully one of your frosties could be the one and the success rates of frozen transfers seem to be quite good now!
Thinking of you xx

lucymills1234 · 18/12/2020 21:12

Thank you everyone. It's been a tough old day. Being alone at this time is really hard going.

My clinic told me what I expected to hear - that a false negative is very unlikely. I had my last progesterone yesterday (my clinic doesn't issue it past that point) so I am expecting to get the withdrawal bleed soon. No sign yet.

I had a brief call with the clinic, but my full consultation won't be until mid Jan as they're backed up because of Christmas. In the meantime they'll get a view on when I could look at an FET and let me know. Given my age I am keen to get on with it as soon as I can, but I am out of funds and as of a couple days ago, out of work.

The one in the freezer is 4BB. I got mixed up as they said on the phone they had a 5AA embryo to transfer and another to freeze - I thought that meant it was a 5AA too, but they just meant 'another embryo' to freeze. I wonder how a 4BB will succeed where a 5AA failed. But I know it does happen. You have to hope, right?

Jane1284 · 19/12/2020 07:54

I am really sorry about your work @lucymills1234 - stress with your job is the last thing you need right now. I hope 2021 brings new work and many good things.

I feel you on the FET. My one in the freezer is 5BB so similar to yours. It is lesser quality than my first one so I wonder whether it has a chance of working. But I am hopeful that our bodies will prefer a FET and this is the time for us. I have my consultation with the clinic on Monday so going to ask a fair few questions then. Was surprised at how quickly it was booked in. Hopefully they will be happy to look into a few concerns I have.
Sending you lots of love at this very hard time xx

Roo45 · 19/12/2020 15:36

So sorry @lucymills1234 and hope 2021 brings better news. It is anecdotal but I have heard SO many stories of slightly lower grade blasts sticking when top grade haven't and hopefully it will be more successful when your body has had a break.
Wishing you both best of luck xx

BrandyM · 20/12/2020 12:59

@Jane1284 happy birthday! Hope you're celebrating with a well deserved glass of wine or two! Xx

Thanks @BrandyM! I will be indulging in some booze tonight. I hope all well with you xx

ShiMo · 20/12/2020 15:21

Happy birthday @Jane1284! Xx

Roo45 · 20/12/2020 20:04

Happy birthday xx

KatBeCool · 21/12/2020 04:44

May I join you ladies? My transfer is tomorrow and I starting to feel incredibly scared. We have only one day 5 embryo so this has to work!

ShiMo · 22/12/2020 11:56

Hope everyone is doing well. Unfortunately, I’m out. I tested a couple of days earlier than my OTD but wanted to prepare myself if it was negative so that I’m not massively sad over Xmas! I don’t think I will get a BFP in the next couple of days and have pretty much accepted this cycle failed.

We are heartbroken, especially as they were our only 2 embryos, so will have to do another fresh cycle. But our embryo quality wasn’t great so maybe that’s a step closer to understanding why we’ve not been able to conceive.

I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas and wishing you all the best of luck for 2021 xx

Roo45 · 22/12/2020 12:35

@ShiMo I'm so sorry. May be worth testing again on OTD just to be absolutely sure but I know the feeling. I am in the same position with poor quality embryos that didn't take and having to do another fresh cycle. Look after yourself over Christmas xx

ShiMo · 22/12/2020 13:11

Thanks @Roo45, yes will test on OTD just to be certain but can feel AF is on its way. Sorry you’re also going to have to do another fresh cycle, not an easy thing to go through again. Only good thing that’s come out of this is that we can look forward to having a large glass of wine or four at Xmas! xx

Jane1284 · 22/12/2020 16:26

I’m so sorry @ShiMo - so upsetting. I hope you are able to take some time over Christmas to enjoy yourself and have some peace. I really hope 2021 is a better year for us all.

I had my review with the clinic yesterday and today I paid for a three cycle package with them. We have one in the freezer but after discussing with the doctor I think it makes sense to bank some embryos while our health (both mental and physical) seems to be in a good place. So will be starting again in Jan Smile

Roo45 · 22/12/2020 19:38

@KatBeCool sorry missed your post! Hope the transfer went well? Good luck on the 2ww xx

KatBeCool · 22/12/2020 19:59

@Roo45 thank you! Everything went great. I expected to be in a great deal of pain because normally my uterus and cervix don't like things going into them but I didn't feel a thing. My bladder was prefectly full and I didn't pee on anyone!

BrandyM · 23/12/2020 10:00

@ShiMo I'm so sorry to hear about your test result. I really hope it's BFP when you re-test on OTD. This whole process is so random. Let's know how you get on. Sending you lots of love xx

OP posts:
BrandyM · 23/12/2020 10:06

@KatBeCool glad to hear transfer went well. My transfer was a bit of a nightmare as my bladder wasn't full (apparently) and so they couldn't easily access my uterus. They had to use a different catheter to access it and I was in a whole lot of pain as a result. Glad yours went smoothly!

All the best in your 2WW. It's going to be a long wait but my advice is to not symptom spot if you can (I know it's hard). Cramping and boobs that no longer hurt is very common during the 2WW but it doesn't mean it hasn't worked. Let's know how you get on xx

OP posts:
BrandyM · 23/12/2020 10:10

@Jane1284 that's great that you had your review with the clinic and a clear plan on a way forward. What a great idea to bank embryos while you can! I think it's even more important in the case of low AMH/AFC. Did they say anything about the protocol or are they going to stick to the same one? Xx

OP posts:
BrandyM · 23/12/2020 10:13

@MrsF1989 how are you doing? Your 6 week scan must be real soon? Mine is next Wednesday. The wait to the first scan seems a lot like the 2WW (very slow!) xx
