Hi,
After 2 years TTC #1 we are now eventually on the IVF bus! Should have started in June but Covid put a stop to that and after lots of back/forth with our NHS clinic we've got our treatment planning appointment on Friday and will be on the long protocol so probably starting mid- end of December!
Would love to have some ladies join me!
I've been creeping on other IVF threads but haven't been able to fully take part.

@Ellsiedodah i am with NHS and so far so good a little pushing them had to be done, I have nurses appt on Tuesday to discuss everything

Ellsiedodah · 19/11/2020 08:32

@freya2015 thats good news. Probably always have to do a little nudging but so long as you feel you're generally in good hands :)

beachbum85 · 19/11/2020 10:35

@Ellsiedodah I'm also with NHS and haven't yet had specific IVF discussions... so far I also needed to push but they've been good once we've got to speak to them. Will find out more in a few weeks!

@winnie3838 any news from your appointment this morning? I've been thinking of you since yesterday Smile

Bells3032 · 19/11/2020 10:38

yes @winnie3838 desperate to know. fingers crossed for you

winnie3838 · 19/11/2020 11:28

Thank you everyone!!

I am just on my way back from the clinic now. I did another test at home this morning and the positive line was a lot stronger that y’day. She also did a test at the clinic just now, and also got a positive result! The nurse did a scan and altho it is too early to see anything she could see that i had ovulated from my left ovary and that lining was the thickness it should be.

She has told me to start right away with the progesterone suppositories that i already have as they came in the box with my IVF meds. She has booked me in for another scan in two weeks time. As far as the down regulation drugs that i had been taking are concerned, they aren’t known to have a negative effect on the baby itself but can have an effect on whether the pregnancy is sustained in these early stages - so will just have to hope for the best, luckily i’d only been taking them for 5.5 days.

I know it is very early stages and i might have to come back to ivf, just to know that it is possible for me to get pregnant naturally has been such a massive positive for my mental wellbeing. I really felt like over the last year, since i was diagnosed with endometriosis and then finding out my AMH was 5.5 and AFC 4/5, it has been bad news after bad news. The nhs fertility doctors (the private ones were more positive) and every science article and info i had read online made me fell like it was so unlikely i’d ever get pregnant naturally because of my low ovarian reserve, endometriosis and age.

I looked a lot on Mumsnet at the start of this for positive stories and they really helped me: so even tho i am only at 4wks and it’s very early, i hope my story shows that it is possible!

Wishing everyone luck, i will be following your journey x

Bells3032 · 19/11/2020 11:35

Aww @winnie3838 congratulations lovely that's absolutely incredible!

What a shock it must have been but also absolutely joy too! Wishing you all the best, please keep us updated along the way.

I'm taking this as a good luck charm for the rest of us and our journeys this next couple of months

starkid · 19/11/2020 13:54

Hi everyone! I'm starting my first round of IVF in Dec/January.
I'm 31 next month, & been trying for 2.5 years/31 cycles, and have been given diagnosis of unexplained infertility but with slightly abnormal male morphology. I've also got Ulcerative Colitis and have had my colon & rectum removed, which may play a part in it due to scar tissue.

I'm starting Buserelin down-regulation injections Dec 3rd but the baseline scan then everything else doesn't happen until January 8th onwards. Looking at egg collection for 22nd January 2021 Smile

Nervous about doing the injections myself especially as my husband is terrified of needles so will be no help! And of how long I've got to be doing them daily before the various scans etc. But I'm excited to be on the road finally!

starkid · 19/11/2020 14:09

Also congratulations @winnie3838 that's amazing and what a lovely (encouraging!) surprise

Beaglemum91 · 19/11/2020 16:55

Omg, congrats @winnie3838!! Fingers crossed for you that it all goes smoothly!

Welcome @starkid!

onlyhereforthefood · 19/11/2020 18:59

@winnie3838 congratulations!

VanillaSpiceCandle · 20/11/2020 12:14

@winnie3838 massive congratulations! Very happy for you.

@onlyhereforthefood that sounds like a fair compromise. I’m hoping I’ll be able to continue to work from home in January. We’ve only got this confirmed until end of December. I love working from home though and would want to continue anyway. At least this way I wouldn’t have to face my miserable colleagues after every appointment.

Ellsiedodah · 23/11/2020 10:08

@winnie3838 AMAZING!!!! Best of luck with it. So cool. Yayayay! Love a good news story x

Beaglemum91 · 24/11/2020 19:48

So I've now had my baseline scan and initial consultation! It went well and they've said we're eligible for their short protocol, though she did mention my AFC of 12 was a bit low for my age... I thought it was average?

Either way, after our consultant worried us a bit by saying the treatment consultations were a 3 week wait and by then it would be too late to get medication to us to start on 1st Jan when I'm due AF, our patient coordinator said they could fit us in next week! So all is on plan to start at the very beginning of Jan! Very excited to be starting our journey and it all feel so real now!

Freya2015 · 24/11/2020 20:35

We had our nurses appt this morning we signed all the paper work I am on the antagonist protocol. She will book me in next month to teach me on how to inject myself. Then we are hopefully looking to start in January x

Ellsiedodah · 24/11/2020 20:39

Good news Beaglemum91! That must be such a great feeling. How old are you? I know nothing about whats normal... none of my prior consultations seem to have given me my AFC. But I do know my AMH is 1.1, at age 38 :( I think they counted 6 follicles but can't be sure. But I thought I'd read 12 was normal?

I have been doing loads of thinking and research and concluded yesterday I won't do a long protocol, which knocked out my local consultant... I've been considering Create but finally decided to do treatment at Lister... turns out it'll be £2k more expensive than Create but I get the impression they offer a far more bespoke service- don't rule out any type of treatment- and their admin team have been far more useful and human to speak to. So I've got my consultation booked for 10 December and will do my scans and hormone tests that week. AF also due for me somewhere between Christmas day and 1 Jan... I'm praying it'll be late!! Hadn't considered the drugs could be problematic to get hold of... has anyone else heard about that?

starkid · 24/11/2020 20:43

@Beaglemum91 - congrats! I'm glad they could fit you in soon too Smile

starkid · 24/11/2020 20:48

Is anyone else doing long protocol in here? I'm starting the down-reg injections next Thursday

Beaglemum91 · 24/11/2020 21:14

@freya2015 sounds good! Looks like there may be a few of us going through it in Jan which will be great!

@Ellsiedodah I'm 29 and she said she would expect my AFC to be higher, but I read some recent research that being on the pill affects that and I've been on it since I was 15! Its sad to know but not much I can do about it now. I read that 12 was average for my age so I'm not concerned. I've also gone with ABCIVF which is a part of create. They've been great so far, but they are selective and only take on simpler cases for short protocol/milder IVF. Technically our issue is MFI and we're both under 30 so its worked well for us and means less medication for me. They're also so much cheaper, which is a bonus.
Not sure if all medication suppliers close but at ABCIVF/Create they close the lab for a deep clean over Christmas and medication suppliers close for 2 weeks too.

@starkid I know! I was shocked when we said they could fit me in for treatment appointment next week so we could get everything in place before Christmas!

Ellsiedodah · 24/11/2020 21:20

@Freya2015 sorry, didn't see your post... Great you're all set too! Whats the antagonist protocol? Is that downregging?

@Beaglemum91 I heard about ABC... Great deal if you can get approved. Well done!

Freya2015 · 24/11/2020 21:22

@Beaglemum91 yes i am so excited but very anxious

@Ellsiedodah its the short protocol so i will be taking two injections every day

Ellsiedodah · 24/11/2020 21:23

@starkid sorry you've had those health problems... Great to see you've got going on this journey:) good luck with all the treatment. The injections sound quite scary but I hear lot it's often not as bad as all that. I'm only not going for it because I'm 38 with hardly any eggs left and so it doesn't gain me anything...

Ellsiedodah · 24/11/2020 21:38

@Freya2015 wow I didn't realise short was that involved. Is that for 11 days pre start of your cycle? I've been trying to work out the difference between short protocol and mild

Freya2015 · 25/11/2020 12:43

@Ellsiedodah no its taking injections on the second day of your cycle
