Hi,
After 2 years TTC #1 we are now eventually on the IVF bus! Should have started in June but Covid put a stop to that and after lots of back/forth with our NHS clinic we've got our treatment planning appointment on Friday and will be on the long protocol so probably starting mid- end of December!
Would love to have some ladies join me!
I've been creeping on other IVF threads but haven't been able to fully take part.

@Lindyloolou fabulous news!

Janefx40 · 07/01/2021 21:27

@Lindyloolou this is so exciting! What a fab result. Yes try to relax now until scan day (if you can relax you're a better woman than I am but always worth giving it a go!)

Xxx

Lindyloolou · 07/01/2021 21:30

Thanks so much guys. @Janefx40 I’m going to do my best. It’s like constant hurdles ahead but going to try and continue to tackle each one as they come and not think too far ahead (she says!) 😌

Mseddy · 07/01/2021 22:10

@Pingupp sorry you are facing delays and uncertainty :( is it an anonymous donor or someone you know? If you don't mind me asking. It must be so hard having to factor another person in.

@lindyloolou yay for your hcg levels! I haven't had mine done, but I'm managing to keep my anxiety in check just about. I'm 5+1 today and still got on and off symptoms. 13 days to scan!

Lindyloolou · 07/01/2021 22:19

Great news @Mseddy and well done for keeping the anxiety in check. I hope I can do the same moving forwards! Keeping everything crossed for you xx

Mrs32 · 08/01/2021 00:37

How thank you soooo much ladies for the recommendations.
Its such a difficult thing to tackle.

Finfers & toes crossed we all have good news soon x

Kiza · 08/01/2021 07:12

@Lindyloolou great result and pleased that it's given you some reassurance for a while.

Off for my first scan to ensure I've down regged enough and for menopur teach, hope your scan goes well today also @starkid

@Lindyloolou you are so right, ivf is a massive waiting game! I have composed myself now so we'll just have to hope Boris does end lockdown in Feb so we can get going again.
@Kiza good news you can carry on- fingers crossed.
@Mseddy it's an anonymous donor so we are at her mercy. She's doing an amazing thing for us so we have to just go with the flow. Lockdown I know affects so many people so I have dragged myself out of my sad mood and just getting on with it!
Zoom quizzes start tonight ;-)

starkid · 08/01/2021 07:49

@kiza good luck to you too!

GingerBrummie · 08/01/2021 10:25

Hi all,
I posted at the beginning but then went quiet as I dont start down regging til 26th Jan. However I have been reading everyones updates with interest!
@Janefx40 you summed up my feelings re IVF in a post a few pages back, really helped so thanks for that!
@Kiza good luck with the scan, must be nice to get the down regging hopefully behind you.
After not accepting IVF was for me, Im actually now super excited to start!
Good luck everyone & congrats to those successful ones already Smile

starkid · 08/01/2021 11:25

Scan went ok and ready to start stims on Sunday - egg collection 2 weeks today!
How did it go for you @Kiza ?

Kiza · 08/01/2021 12:22

@starkid scan all good and started stimming today, we did the first stim injection in the clinic as she had to teach me how to mix it. Monitoring scans booked but don't know when EC is yet as it depends how I react to stimms. Nice to be moving forwards though as it's been 2 & half years to get to this point!

Nice to hear from you @GingerBrummie, The 26th will be here before you know it- it scares me how fast time goes sometimes!

Mseddy · 08/01/2021 12:37

@kiza exciting that you have started stims!!

starkid · 08/01/2021 13:23

@Kiza - oh you've got a mixing one! I've got a prefilled pen which is nice I guess. Good luck with them!

Janefx40 · 08/01/2021 13:41

@Kiza great news that the scan was good and you are on your way! I've always had to mix and it's been fine. The first time I saw it, my friend was mixing up stim drugs in a tent on a campsite and asked me to hold her torch for her - it looked terrifying! She was an old hand by then having done about 3 rounds already (she got her babies on the 5th round!). Since then I've been known to mix and inject stims in cafe toilets, pubs, even in the car (not while moving). You get quite good at it over time!! X

Kiza · 08/01/2021 14:36

@Janefx40 yeah it's so strange how quickly something becomes your new normal. Even just drawing up the buseralin and injecting that seemed terrifying and I now inject myself no problem!
Luckily for Menopur it's only 2 vials, it was originally 4!
How are things for you at the moment?

@starkid lucky you getting a pre-filled one. I still find it so peculiar how different the clinics are in what they do. Did they say why you couldn't start today?

OP posts:
starkid · 08/01/2021 14:52

@Kiza - no it was always scheduled to start sunday if it all looked good today, for 10 days. maybe to line up the planned egg collection dates etc

Kiza · 08/01/2021 15:10

@starkid ahh ok, I'm a bit confused though as my clinic said they couldn't guarantee when EC was (I had asked it to be a specific date so I could have ET on a day they had an anaesthetist) as they said it all depends on how quickly/slowly the follicles respond to the stim medication, could be 9 days, could be 14 or anywhere in between hence why I've got to have lots of monitoring scans whilst stimming.

So pleased for you @Lindyloolou what lovely news, keeping everything crossed for you 🤞🏻

MrsMeow2019 · 09/01/2021 10:12

Hi ladies,

Hoping to joint you all, I’ve been reading your updates over the last week and thought I’d say Hi.

We’ve been TTC for 18 months so not that long compared to many. Turns out we have very bad luck with severe MFI and low AMH (5.1). Started first IVF with ICSI cycle last week and am now on day 8 of stimms (menopur - ow the burn!) and bemfola. I had a day 7 scan yesterday and looks like only 4 follicles growing , I knew it wouldn’t be many but it’s seems to hit me hard that the chances of this working are really low :-(. Fingers crossed the 4 make it and they find 4 decent spermies!

Congratulations @Mseddy and @Lindyloolou, I hope you have a happy healthy 8 more months 😊. Good luck everyone on cycles at the moment x

Lindyloolou · 09/01/2021 10:18

@MrsMeow2019 I understand your worries but remember, it does only take 1 gooden! I had a decent amount of eggs but after PGS testing, I only had the one healthy genetically sound frostie - still a way to go but so far so good 🤞 I’ve seen lots have 1-5 and all have been great. It really is pot luck. You’re on the journey, you have follicles growing so that really positive. Fingers crossed for you Xx

IslandStars · 09/01/2021 11:04

@Lindyloolou Congratulations! May I ask how many embryos you had and did you PGS them all? I’m undecided on how many to test. Obviously I’d ideally like 2 normal so I at least have a back up. I have 9 biopsied and frozen so far (embryo banking) and about to start my final round soon, so hopefully I can add a few more blasts. I’ve just turned 42.

Lindyloolou · 09/01/2021 12:38

@IslandStars we were really unlucky I think. I lm 35, Partner 45. We had 5 blasts all frozen and tested and only 1 was ok (and they were all top grade A/AB) so they were surprised at this ratio. We did direct sperm retrieval (we had some of that tested and it was top quality compared to how it is ordinarily which they felt was our recurrent MC problem). So we just had the one to transfer the following month. Contemplated doing another round in the hope we had better luck and could bank at least 1 or 2 more but we also didn’t want to leave it much longer so felt the need to go with what we had with the view we go again in the future if needs be. PGS is controversial with some saying blasts can repair themselves but we had been through so many MCs I wanted to give ourselves the best possible chance as well as peace of mind when transferring so that was our personal preference to test all. Not sure if that helps?

IslandStars · 09/01/2021 14:18

@Lindyloolou Thanks so much for the info, it does help to hear what kind of success ratios people had and shows how it can vary, despite age and grades. I’m doing PGS for same reason, although I haven’t been pregnant before, at 42 time isn’t on my side, so I’m trying to reduce the chance of MC. I’ll probably have to test most of mine, depending on how my final cycle goes. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

Lindyloolou · 09/01/2021 14:23

Good luck. I personally wouldn’t hesitate to test all again. Xx
