Hi,
After 2 years TTC #1 we are now eventually on the IVF bus! Should have started in June but Covid put a stop to that and after lots of back/forth with our NHS clinic we've got our treatment planning appointment on Friday and will be on the long protocol so probably starting mid- end of December!
Would love to have some ladies join me!
I've been creeping on other IVF threads but haven't been able to fully take part.

Ladies for the trapped gas and bloating you could try lots of peppermint tea, prunes, walking daily (if you can manage it without pain).
There's lots of other natural remedies such as ginger, fennel, chamomile etc and it's trial and error as to what works for you. Movement can really help release some of it and some light pain relief such as paracetomol to enable you to go for regular walks.

@onlyhereforthefood They say average is 40/50% so hopefully youll have better luck than me. Weirdly bitter sweet as at least there’s one and then there are the potential MCs I avoided. Horrible game this! Good luck and thank you xxx

TTCandImpatient · 16/12/2020 21:07

@kiza thank you! Thats a great steer

Lindyloolou · 16/12/2020 22:05

My tips post egg collection... hot water bottle or heated wheat bag, paracetamol for day one and two, and do keep moving - bit of walking did me the world of good. I wasn’t in total agony despite high risk of OHSS. I just found it quite painful when I had a full bladder for the first few days but that was it really. Nothing that profound from me - a chocolate treat always goes down well too ;) Wishing all you brave ladies a speedy recovery x

Lindyloolou · 16/12/2020 22:06

Oh and don’t be alarmed if your period is thrown out of sync afterwards. Mine came early (around 5 days after).

onlyhereforthefood · 17/12/2020 07:27

@Kiza and @Lindyloolou thank you so much for the advice, I've been moving around and drinking loads (also high risk for OHSS) but will be trying wheat bags and peppermint tea today!

MF1981 · 17/12/2020 07:59

I was really ill with ohss. Things that I tried - peppermint tea, wheat bag, sleeping sitting up, eating small portions and often, a little shuffle around the block each day (too painful to walk), painkillers, lactulose for the incredible constipation, loads of water, not letting my bladder get too full. Other than that it was just time - took me about a week or so to get back to normal and then my period came almost 2 weeks after my trigger.

Janefx40 · 17/12/2020 08:15

@onlyhereforthefood hope you feel better soon. My only other tip besides what has been suggested is to avoid pizza and super bloaty food. I'm not gluten intolerant or anything like that but I did make the mistake of having a massive pizza post EC and it was painful!!!

Gensola · 17/12/2020 10:03

I was really unwell after my egg collection- I could hardly walk for several days and was in agony going to the loo. My period came a week early too. I recommend booking time off work as I had expected to be “uncomfortable” and had only booked one day off and then was really bad and had to take extra unplanned time off.
Drink lots of fluid and go to the loo before bladder fills up. I also couldn’t eat more than a few bites of food before getting cramps so for those few days ate little and often.

I have two embryos in freeze and am really worried they won’t survive being thawed as I dread having to go through another fresh cycle.

starkid · 17/12/2020 10:23

So you both got your period well before the blood test to test for pregnancy? @Gensola @Lindyloolou :(

Gensola · 17/12/2020 10:43

@starkid I didn’t have a transfer because I was so unwell so I knew I wasn’t pregnant xx

MF1981 · 17/12/2020 11:03

Same - freeze all for me

onlyhereforthefood · 17/12/2020 17:17

We had another call today from the embryologist, we got a further 8 embryos suitable for biopsy, so 13 in total. Here's hoping that at least a couple pass and are suitable for transfer because I don't think I can do another EC based on this cycle so having a back up in case first one doesn't take would be a bonus.

Have not stopped peeing today so hope this means some fluid is shifting!

Lindyloolou · 17/12/2020 18:18

I was doing PGS testing so mine was a freeze all situation. I’m due to have my only one normal embryo transferred on Tuesday (had two periods in between - the first being early after retrieval)

Bells3032 · 18/12/2020 09:39

So my best friend told me last night that she is pregnant - she literally found out on Weds night and i was the first person she told other than her DH. They weren't actively trying but more NTNP for like 6 weeks and bam. She said she felt bad as she knows the struggle my DH and I are having - I told her to not be so silly and i was so excited and thrilled for her!! It's still v early and she's very anxious but also excited. She hasn't told her family yet (they are exceptionally close and i am very surprised she told me first). But now she is desperate for our IVF to work first time so we can be on maternity leave together :-P

But my DH felt really sad last night as he said he can't give me that so easily (this is completely for MFI due to cancer) I told him it didn't matter as we'd get there eventually, it isn't a race. I wasn't 100% sure I wanted kids til about April this year whereas she's been broody for years! haha.

granddesigns · 18/12/2020 13:44

Sorry to hear this @Bells3032 - it's really tough when you are genuinely happy for someone but also tinged with that 'what about me' voice too! We've had a few close ones over the last couple of years - I guess you have to keep the visualisation that hopefully it will be you soon!

We managed to get our transfer this morning (yey!) so that's us into the wait.... lining looked good at 9+ mm and they were really happy with the embryo so everything crossed!

Anyone else just had or about to have transfer?!

Lindyloolou · 18/12/2020 14:06

Ah @Bells3032 that’s really nice of your friend to consider you in that way. You will get there!!! It’s so crap it can’t come so easy for all of us.

Congrats @granddesigns Fingers crossed for you. I am due to have our transfer on Tuesday (should all go well). Pessaries (joy!), Asprin (75mg) and clexane all start today. I started steroids last week to suppress my immune system so trying to avoid social situs as much as possible too - this is because I had elevated NK cells.

onlyhereforthefood · 18/12/2020 19:06

@granddesigns keeping everything crossed for you!

Janefx40 · 18/12/2020 19:08

@Lindyloolou you must be feeling excited about your upcoming transfer.

@granddesigns congrats on your transfer. Now the dreaded 2WW or 10 day wait for IVF. When is you OTD? Hope you're feeling ok. I'm usually ok for the first few days before I start getting nervous!

@Bells3032 it's exciting for your best friend but always a little tricky to see others getting pregnant so easily. My best friend says she waited for me to get pregnant (with my now 2 year old) before trying for her third (they get pregnant super easily). That's great but she did hit me with endless stress about her fertility because they didn't get pregnant the first month and made me listen to her pouring over her amazing results after she got everything tested in a panic. I love her but I think she just underestimated the trauma of IVF and that it wasn't that easy for me to listen to. Obviously there was nothing wrong and she got pregnant second cycle!!! Hopefully things will go well for you and you can share that mat leave x

granddesigns · 18/12/2020 19:58

Thanks all - @Janefx40 it's the 31st.... we shall see how long we hold out for! Either way will know this year! I've sorted out the Christmas fruit and veg and supermarket order - strangely productive now I've had the transfer and know it's on board - was really anxious about the thaw after last time so relived it went to plan!

Janefx40 · 18/12/2020 22:53

@granddesigns That's so good that it's on board as you say. Do you tend to be an early tester? X

granddesigns · 19/12/2020 08:31

@Janefx40 - we held out last time but was very tempted to test early - just think with Christmas and not being at work I might be at high risk of early testing this time!

Janefx40 · 19/12/2020 16:00

I tested one day early last time. I usually find I'm desperate to test but then when the time approaches I don't want to in case it's negative!!! Good luck with whatever you decide xxx

Bells3032 · 22/12/2020 11:35

Hello ladies

Anyone else suffering from Christmas cycle anxiety like i am. We are planning to start on our next cycle but i haven't had a period in 7 weeks now (came off the coil in September so still all over the place).

The clinic said if i still haven't started in Jan they'll give me a medication to bring it on which takes 10-14 days roughly and have to wait at least 35 days from my last cycle to start that.

They're open intermittently over the Christmas hols so if my cycle starts the 27th-30th i can can start but not from now til the 27th or the 31st-2nd.

I am so worried my cycle will start on one of those days and then won't have another one for five weeks which means another 7 weeks til i can start.

We are also moving the 6th and 7th so have lots of people in and out the house at that time e.g. to put the internet in and furniture deliveries and the removal company so worried about starting and then coming down with covid.

My anxiety levels are just going mad at the moment

Mseddy · 22/12/2020 11:59

I had my transfer yesterday so I'm officially PUPO! Last time I tested early, had a negative at 5pd5dt and a positive at 6dp5dt then sadly had a chemical a week or so later. This time I don't have the urge to test for some reason. Last time I was counting down the days until I thought it would show. No way am I testing at 5dp or probably even 6pd this cycle! I think I'm suddenly more scared of the outcome than I ever have been! These FET drugs have made me pile weight on and the thought of having to do it another 3 times I'll be like a whale before I even get pregnant! I've actually found the FET process mentally and physically harder than a fresh which I know is the opposite way round to most people
