IVF Dec 2020-Jan 2021-anyone joining me?

Hi,
After 2 years TTC #1 we are now eventually on the IVF bus! Should have started in June but Covid put a stop to that and after lots of back/forth with our NHS clinic we've got our treatment planning appointment on Friday and will be on the long protocol so probably starting mid- end of December!
Would love to have some ladies join me!
I've been creeping on other IVF threads but haven't been able to fully take part.

Hi All,
We were due to start in March this year but then the pandemic happened. I am absolutely terrified of the procedure and low success rates for someone of my age. I am terrified of needles and medications.

Any tips and advice will be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Shinebright21 · 10/12/2020 07:09

Hi

Can I join? I'm not doing IVF but I'm attempting a couple of cycles of IUI. Hope that's ok!

onlyhereforthefood · 10/12/2020 19:14

@Muslim82 I was terrified of the injections but my OH did them rather than me trying to do them myself. They honestly weren't that bad and you soon get used to it. I found it easier to manage at home rather than in a clinical setting. Good luck

granddesigns · 10/12/2020 19:15

Welcome @Shinebright21 and @Muslim82 (and any others I've missed!)
This year can mostly be summed up by 'waiting' - and I feel like waiting and anticipation makes all the worry a lot worse. Happy to answer any questions you have. Have to say the injecting gets easier from my experience - remember being nervous the first few times but worked out this week have done 40+ this year and not at all bothered about it now -desensitised! In fact I have joked that I've loaned my body to the clinic and doctors till I get a successful outcome and will collect it (and some of my dignity!) when they are done - it helped me!

starkid · 10/12/2020 19:50

I've been doing the injections for a week today and am fine with them now. I find them less stinging in the thigh rather than stomach!

elsaesmeralda · 11/12/2020 09:26

Good luck for those having an egg collection today 🤞🏻

onlyhereforthefood · 11/12/2020 16:36

Well I'm home, very groggy and uncomfortable but they got 28 eggs!

Will know tomorrow how many were mature and have fertilised, then on Wednesday we'll know how many made it to day 5 and will go for genetic testing.

granddesigns · 11/12/2020 16:55

That's a great haul @onlyhereforthefood - well done! Hopefully you will start to feel better soon now they are all out and fingers crossed for the phone call!

elsaesmeralda · 11/12/2020 17:00

@onlyhereforthefood wow loads! Well done!
Have a rest now, you deserve it.
Hope you get a lot of good ones there 🥰

I've had to stop treatment just before egg collection, my mom is in hospital and i'm loosing her. So can't continue as i'm traveling to Spain to be with her.😞

Will have to start over again in Jan.
Will see you all then!

And super good luck to everyone on the boat this month xx

@Sungirl11I am so, so sorry to hear about your mum, we went through it with OH dad a few months ago and it's just the worst. Sending you lots of love, and feel free to message if you need anything xx

Pingupp · 12/12/2020 07:06

Hi ladies. I was recommend this group by another lady on a different group I am on.
We are due to have FET on 6th Jan.
DE collection is Monday and we find out fri what can go into the freezer if any.,,
Just wanted to say hi.
It's been a long road but the end is in sight now. 🤞🏻

elsaesmeralda · 12/12/2020 09:34

Hi @Pingupp welcome! Exciting times, it's not that far away really !

granddesigns · 12/12/2020 10:04

Sorry to hear this @Sungirl11 - thinking of you and your family. We will still be here, plodding on, propping up and hopefully making some progress between us. Love and light for the days to come and hoping the new year and new cycle will be kind.

Bells3032 · 12/12/2020 11:41

@sungirl11 so sorry to hear about your mum. I lost mine 6 years ago and I know how hard it is. If you need someone to talk to here for you xxx

onlyhereforthefood · 12/12/2020 11:52

We've just had an update from the lab...

27 of the eggs were mature
22 have fertilised (with ICSI)

We'll get a call Monday just as a check in with me, then Weds we'll get our day 5 total so will know how many made it to biopsy and freeze stage.
Any that are lagging will get an extra day.

Then we need at least one to pass genetic and chromosome testing and to stick. This is going to be a tough couple of months waiting!

Hoping we get at least two that pass the testing so we can do a second frozen transfer attempt in the future.

starkid · 12/12/2020 12:02

@onlyhearforthefood - that's such good news so far, you must be thrilled

elsaesmeralda · 12/12/2020 12:03

@onlyhereforthefood huge amount ! Are you chuffed ?

onlyhereforthefood · 12/12/2020 12:51

@starkid and @elsaesmeralda OH and I are so happy, it's been a shitty year for him especially so this has been our glimmer of hope

Beaglemum91 · 13/12/2020 19:14

Oh wow, that brilliant @onlyhereforthefood! You must be so happy?

So sorry to hear the news @Sungirl11 :(

granddesigns · 13/12/2020 20:07

Great news @onlyhereforthefood - fingers crossed they had a good weekend!

We finally had some positive news at our scan today (I say we - dh is still accepting the fact that hopefully he will be sat in the car at the moment of conception!). The FET we started in September has finally responded as it should - lining is thickening and we are currently on track for a transfer on Friday. Hopefully blood tests they took and Covid swab and the defrosting will not change that! That said it's been down to 'just a blood test' before and stopped so I'm not getting my hopes up till it's happened!

onlyhereforthefood · 13/12/2020 20:12

@Beaglemum91 thanks, I am happy, trying not to get my hopes up too much at any stage though!

@granddesigns shall be keeping everything crossed for you

Pingupp · 14/12/2020 08:29

Hey ladies - so I was on the garden centre yesterday and the clinic called us.. the donor has cocked up her last injection I think . Got timings wrong or something like that - and basically it’s all off for retrieval tomorrow.
Spanner in the works and upset on both sides. She was distraught according to our consultant - as was I - sobbing in the garden centre.
Looking like mid Feb now for us now as she has to have a period and start everything all over again.
So disappointed as had geared myself to for today and early Jan.
Feel gutted ☹️
