Morning ladies!

We hit our 1000 limit on the original thread! That’s 1000 messages of support and advice, celebrating every happy milestone, and being there for uncertainty and bad news too. Thanks @Mseddy for setting up our little cohort :)

Will try to tag the regulars, apologies if I miss anyone. @Custardandcream @nextweek @kikisparks @StayingPositive8 @Bruce2 @CardboardCat @MrsT36 @loulamay @MsNoons17 Argh, my phone is refusing to autocomplete properly - I hope that works.

Wishing everyone heath and happiness - whatever stage of the journey you're on xx

I'll fill out the survey too
@Lepatz and keep us updated on how you are please, had a crappy couple of days at work so apologies I haven't replied sooner. I hope you're alright.

@loulamay 3 normal!! Woohoo fantastic news!

loulamay · 03/12/2020 15:40

Hope everyone is well! I had a good appointment today with my Dr. I shared my fears about miscarrying again and our desire to have 2 children and asked what he thought about doing another egg retrieval now. He is much more optimistic that we now have healthy embryos, and said that in his experience, he thinks I have more of the markers for 'bad luck' than something causing me to miscarry, and our next protocol would include the same Clexane injections in any case. So - the plan is to go back this cycle for the endometrial scratch, which also apparently takes a tiny biopsy from the endometrium, which can be sent off for 'histological' dating. This would tell us more about the age of the lining and if it matches the ovulation days in my cycle (or something). If it looks good, we will stick to an embryo transfer at the normal time, if the dates are out, then we would transfer either one day earlier or later than we did last time. It's better explained here!

@loulamay This all sounds like great news! I'd been reading about the endometrium testing. I hadn't heard of it until this week. So many options, parameters, and levers! Exciting for you :) xx

I tested again on Wednesday, at 9dp... BFN with a frer. So I'm fairly sure I'm out :( I was going to test again today at 11dp - then stop the meds if still out. But I read that FETs can be slow, so whilst don't have my hopes up, also don't want to scupper even a tiny chance. My OTD isn't til 16dp! Which I think is just a bit evil!!! What do you all think? Should I test and stop if neg? Or hold out for OTD? I'm covered in lubion bruises, and work is really hard with a foggy head. And I cried on a work call yesterday Blush!! It's not unbearable (obviously!) but it feels a bit futile maybe. On the other thread everyone's OTD is 12dp or less!!!

Thanks everyone for filling the survey. I've been really quite excited about it, and it's been a fab 2ww distraction! I have a call with a femtech entrepreneur on Tuesday, and have been busy with market research - and already started with basic prototyping (probably a bit prematurely :))

@loulamay 3 healthy embryos! That’s great news! Sounds like your Doctor is really helpful.

Survey filled @Lepatz. Good luck! Sorry your getting BFN. 16dp! Wow that is evil! Personally I would keep at the meds till the 16days just in case. It’s a horrible old wait!

Hope everyone is doing ok. I’ve got a scan today to see how it’s all going with the drugs. Probably be told to start the pessaries today which is the worst part of the drugs for me!

Have a good Friday all!! X

Bruce2 · 04/12/2020 11:47

@Lepatz definitely hold off until 16dpt
I was 13dpt before I was allowed to test...feels like a lifetime doesn't it!
I was always too apprehensive to test before the date given! Maybe I'm a geek and don't like going against docs orders haha!

Oh I do hope the embryo is in there growing quietly for you xxx
Fingers crossed darling

Let us know his scan goes xx

loulamay · 04/12/2020 12:31

Oh @Lepatz I'm sorry, what a pickle. And the bruises and headache, you poor darling. 16dp does seem like a long wait. I've never heard of more than 14 max! Can you ask your clinic what they think maybe? Seems unnecessarily cruel to keep stabbing yourself and having these awful side effects if you don't have to. Sending a virtual hug xxx

MsNoons17 · 04/12/2020 16:30

I’m a geek too @Bruce2 I always wait til after I’m told to test in case mother nature decides to turn up. I prefer that than seeing a negative result.

Doctors happy with scan and says all looking good and going well though that’s happened the last few times so don’t feel over excited tbh. Looking like FET next week!

Lepatz · 05/12/2020 15:36

Well, I have really started to hate the single red FRER line.... Not just the fact it's a negative - now it actually feels like the solitary red in the sea of white is mocking me!

I did another one this morning. I actually didn't want to (I'm going to do the right thing and keep on with the meds anyway. At least unless the clinic advises otherwise. But I accidentally opened it on Friday (don't ask haha) and apparently they don't work if they've been open a while, so thought I'd be just as well. Anyways, as expected - a BFN.

I'm feeling really quite zen about the whole thing. And planning next year treatment efforts. Might do some investigations into going abroad.

And if it all comes to nothing, I'm going to go skiing for three months next winter! (I have a 3 month paid sabbatical that I was going to add to mat leave... This is my back up plan :))

@MsNoons17 Yay - exciting news about FET next week. I have found FET just to be a world different to the fresh. Though the 2WW is similarly challenging!

OP posts:
MsNoons17 · 05/12/2020 16:04

Sounds like a good plan @Lepatz! Sorry your having a rubbish time. X

This is my second frozen & last frosty to use. I agree FET is so different. Much prefer it. Though the drugs are affecting my mood a bit. Poor OH! 😂

Lepatz · 05/12/2020 16:40

Hehe - yes, I think I notice the moods more with the FET because there isn't the other more physical effects to mask (or excuse!) them!! 😂

OP posts:
MsNoons17 · 05/12/2020 17:50

😂 Very true. Much easier to forgive the moods when there are bruises!

Oh 3 months skiing would be an amazing softener if you can't add to any upcoming mat leave. I LOVE to ski!! Miss it so much.

I think you're being so fantastic with everything, well done. It's so hard.
Everything crossed for you xx

How exciting

Best of luck!!
I did a natural FET in 2018 and 2019
No drugs and no pessaries and I'll never know for sure but I always had a feeling a little help along the way would have worked but what can I do.
I'm glad you've got a good plan in place xx

loulamay · 06/12/2020 08:44

@Lepatz so sorry to hear this but glad you are feeling calm! Skiiing would be an amazing thing to do, regardless of what happens! Will be interested to hear about your research into clinics abroad. I have read of so many people going to Czechia or Spain and getting fantastic treatment and with costs far lower than the UK.

@MsNoons17 exciting news!
@Mseddy - any decision on your FET for this year? thinking of you

Mseddy · 07/12/2020 18:03

Sorry I've been a little absent again! I've been mostly avoiding thinking about anything ivf related in a bid to make af turn up on time. It worked thankfully!

@Lepatz sorry to hear about your BFN so far. This process is so bloody hard! 3 months of skiing sounds fab!

I started my meds for my short protocol FET on Saturday, so all going well I should have an embryo on board for Christmas. I'm actually kind of happy that for the first Christmas in 3 years I'll at least be able to think next year might be OK becuase I could be pregnant right now. I'm going to try and not test early! Although id like to know if I have another chemical so I'm not going to wait until OTD either.

I joined a December thread but I just can't click with it! I miss being lined up times wise with you guys! How is everyone?

MsNoons17 · 08/12/2020 09:52

That’s great news @Mseddy I’m almost on the same timeline as you. Looks like my test day will be around Xmas day!! 😭😂

Mseddy · 08/12/2020 11:42

@MsNoons17 yay I'm glad I'm lined up with one of you guys again. What date is your embryo going back? Going off testing positive at 6dp5dt last time the absolute earliest im going to test us 7dp5dt which is the 28th for me. Otd won't be until Jan

MsNoons17 · 08/12/2020 14:25

Ha! Me too @Mseddy Going back tomorrow! My test date should be 21st December I think but I’ll probably test after that. X

Mseddy · 09/12/2020 16:07

@MsNoons17 oooh good luck for today! Hope it all went smoothly! I'm planning for transfer on 21st if my lining thickens OK

Lepatz · 09/12/2020 18:28

Hey @Mseddy and @MsNoons17 Great that you are FETing together!

@Mseddy - I know what you mean about clicking on other threads - I just could not feel it when I started my FET - I just wanted to message here! Though once I was in the 2WW that changed a bit. I think that re-equalises the fresh/FET intensity difference. The 2WW is always a challenge!!

Thanks for the positive words and support @Bruce2 and @loulamay :)

It's my OTD today, and it's a no. I knew it for sure (well 99.9%!) since the weekend, but it's still been pretty hard. It's my last NHS round. I have a FET in waiting, but feel maybe I should do a fresh with all the trimmings. PGS testing etc. If I wait for another FET, and it fails (or if it works, but is abnormal at 12 weeks) then I'll be 42 by the time I would be starting again.

Nurgh. I'm feeling so dejected. I had 2 glasses of red last night - but it only made me feel worse. So I don't even have that to look forward to Sad 😂

Lepatz · 09/12/2020 18:29

@MsNoons17 - just realised I missed that you had your transfer today - congrats! x

So sorry @Lepatz it’s so hard. Hope you can look after yourself tonight, after my miscarriage I found taking it easy helpful, a bath, comfy clothes, comfort food, a light tv show that’s not about babies/ fertility (i watched schitts creek but there are a few out there). It is just so hard to deal with an ivf round that didn’t work out. I’m sorry that was your last NHS round too. In that situation I’d probably do fresh with PGS testing too but you don’t need to make the decision now, you can take a few days, unless it helps you to make a new plan.

Bruce2 · 10/12/2020 15:05

@Lepatz
Sorry it was officially confirmed. That's the hardest...even though you know in lead up, OTD sucks when you get the negative.
Massive hugs your way.
