November IVF/FET

... Too soon?! 😁😉

Been waiting on a FET since we were put on July's list and I've heard from our clinic this week that I've to call them when AF rocks up in October for a November FET. We had our fresh cycle in January, had a BFP, but found there was no heartbeat at the 11 week scan in March (MMC) - it's been a bit of a roller-coaster so far this year (as if covid craziness wasn't enough!).

Found having a thread to go through it all with a massive emotional support, so looking for some MN buddies to do it all again with. Good luck ladies and looking forward to 'meeting' you 🍀🙂

Thanks @BambiOnIce80 I'm hoping this is what the side effects mean! Trying to maintain a positive outlook on them and had a bit of a word with myself earlier!! How's the progynova going for you? Hope all ok.

@BonTon pleased to hear the scratch wasn't too bad for you. Hope you're able to take it easy this afternoon. Thankyou for Friday!! It feels as though we won't get there this week I must say!

@MGee123 fingers crossed that the delay is for a good reason!!

@SpyroC well done for going through EC today again and massive crossing of fingers for the 2 that were collected today. I really hope they pull through for you. The 3rd EC I had, the consultant wasn't able to collect anything, so I understand how deflating it can feel when you've put yourself through all of the meds and so on to be disappointed at the end. I hope the call you get will be positive - it may be a case of quality over quantity which the medics always rave about.

Struggling to concentrate work wise this aft. Too much googling and mumsnet! LOL!

@Lepatz oh yes I'm just a few miles west of Brighton actually. I did the opposite to you in that we decided to move down here permanently from London just before the March lockdown! Hope you had a good run today! I met up with my running club for a final run before lockdown which was nice 😊

@TheGlitterFairy

@bambionice80 oooh yes that must be blustery, I've heard from my Scottish clients that it's quite a few degrees colder up there atm!

@theglitterfairy80 Yes exactly! I think they use it to pinpoint ovulation and check that your natural hormones are okay. If not, they do a medicated cycle, but they normally hope to do natural for everyone. It's getting close for you now, exciting! 😊

@BonTon thanks! For sone reason my body has responded poorly to all the medication. It has a mind of its own! It's much better naturally and seems a lot happier! Glad the scratch went well today!

Oh @SpyroC I'm so sorry to hear that, that must be hard. Really crossing my fingers that at least one of them makes it all the way through, but totally understand that the wait might be tense xxx

PineappleC · 03/11/2020 23:02

I had more blood tests today which confirmed ovulation. Was crazy - before I left my house this morning my OPK was so faint, so I was really sceptical when they said I had to come in for blood tests because ovulation was "imminent", but I got home at 3pm and the line was darker than the control and they then rang to confirm blood test results! So my LH peak must be very quick and short! Anyway, I feel comfortable that they know what they're doing which is good!

ivfjourney5 · 03/11/2020 23:05

@PineappleC that's a fab thickness. It's interesting that it's thicker naturally compared to medicated. I've struggled previously medicated but always just have my dose upped and never tried naturally. Hopefully next month is the same for you 🤞🏼 I've been on Metformin for a year now, my doctors prescribed it me after being diagnosed with PCOS and I didn't have a single period after coming off the pill, it's meant to help regulate cycles, but the ivf doctors want me to continue taking it because it also reduces the chances of gestational diabetes as well (I do love their optimism)

@Lepatz any news on AF coming back today?

Thanks for the welcome and good wishes @TheGlitterFairy and @MGee123 and @BonTon

@BambiOnIce80 I'm 99% sure my lining will be nowhere near ready on the first scan, they usually up my dose but I'm on the max dose this time so they might have to introduce patches. You'll probably get ahead of me even more as you'll hopefully be ready to go straight onto progesterone after your scan 🤞🏼

@SpyroC im sorry to hear you're disappointed from EC today. Make sure you take care of yourself and remember that you've had surgery so don't push yourself. I'll pray you get good news tomorrow about your 2 lovely eggs

I did a nice 5km walk up to my mums today (uphill all the way 😒) to get the blood flowing a bit... I got absolutely drenched in the rain!!

PineappleC · 03/11/2020 23:05

Sorry i dont know why my comments seem to be all over the place with different people tagged in the wrong places! If the comment I've tagged you in makes no sense, that's why! I think I need to get a new phone! 😂

BambiOnIce80 · 04/11/2020 13:06

I'm sorry that you're feeling disappointed after EC @SpyroC 💐 Keeping everything crossed here for fertilisation for you 🤞🤞🤞

I'm the same with OPKs @PineappleC - really short window to spot the peak. Glad the blood tests came back with all being well. Does that mean you're hot to trot when AF next turns up?

I'm already worrying about my lining thickness @ivfjourney5 🥺 It's my first FET, so no idea how I'm going to respond to the drugs 🤷🏻‍♀️ My lining was absolutely fine on my CD21 scan, but that was all me and not induced by drugs, so not loving this unknown element 😞 I hope you get a nice surprise on your first scan and you can crack on with ET🍀

The progynova seems to be going OK, thanks @TheGlitterFairy (other than not knowing if it's doing what it's supposed to, of course 😏) 😊 Think it's making me a greedy bint though 🙄 I've eaten 2 tubs of Ben and Jerry's this week (well, 1 technically because DP shared them with me... he's so supportive of my IVF plight!🍨 😂). How are you coping on the run up to Friday? Is time going backwards?! I hope you're managing to keep yourself distracted.x

SpyroC · 04/11/2020 17:47

Thanks everyone for you kind words 😊. Fortunately, we had the best possible news this morning in that both have fertilised normally. 🙌🏻 I'm so relieved as it's another hurdle jumped. I'm just hoping at least one makes it to transfer on Sunday🤞🏻. Previously we have had 3/6 and 2/5 fertilised egg survive until day 5 so I'm feeling optimistic about getting 1 to transfer although I am also prepared for bad news. I won't get another call until day 4 now unless they both arrest. Every time my phone vibrates in the mornings I think I will jump! I'll be starting lovely lubion and gross cyclogest tomorrow. My trigger has left a bruise so that will be fun but you know what, I'm glad to be doing it after yesterday's scare!

Sorry @BonTon I missed your update on the scratch. I'm glad it wasn't too bad, let's hope it helps those embies to move in on your next cycle.

@TheGlitterFairy I'm sorry to hear you had an empty follicles round. I was reading back through the thread and you have had it tough. Hopefully, this will be the one for you. It all sounds promising. I have endo too, likely the cause of my low AMH. Such a horrible disease.

@PineappleC my LH can be hard to catch too. When I still had natural conception hopes I'd use the ics 2-3 times a day at peak times. The clear blue digits would have bankrupt me 😂 it's good that they caught and are on the ball.

MGee123 · 04/11/2020 21:29

Just catching up - what a rollercoaster @SpyroC - so glad both have fertilised and 🤞 for your day 4 update. Hurdles seems a good way to describe IVF! So many to clear before you even get to the part of bunging an embryo back in! And I thought that was the hard bit before I started this 🙈

Glad the scratch was okay @BonTon 👍

AF had shown up today - hoorah! Scan tomorrow and then I think start Gonal-F in the evening so long as they are happy 🤞 thinking small thoughts for my dominant follicle again tonight!

BonTon · 04/11/2020 21:58

Hurrah for two pieces of good news! I’ve just had the last supper with some friends before lockdown 2.0. Baltic out there 🥶

TheGlitterFairy · 05/11/2020 07:50

@PineappleC understood! Great news that your bloods came back and are all ok! Hopefully you’ll be able to move forward with your next cycle?

@ivfjourney5 the walk in the rain sounds nice!! Quite like doing that if all wrapped up in the right gear!

@BambiOnIce80 pleased you’re getting on ok with the progynova! Hahaha! I think ice cream helps with things 🍦🍨 great your DH is being supportive of you in that regard 😂🙌 When’s your next appt? Am sure the meds are working as they should though it’s hard when you’re just told to take them and not go back in for a while to check!! It always amazes me that the clinics give you a bag of medication/ needles and send you on your merry way!!

I can absolutely say that time is going backwards this week and it’s the longest week ever. It’ll be a miracle if we can get to tomorrow in tact 😂🙈 Had a call yesterday from the clinic to confirm things for tomorrow and we’re up early afternoon, so not too much waiting around. I’ve taken the day as annual leave so don’t need to worry about emails or people wanting things from me (!) and will take a yoga class in the morning and try and get a final bit of zen below going in.

I’m in need of some. Had a massive meltdown about these progesterone injections yesterday; my back is quite sore from them and I hate them (though understand why they’re important so persisting) but DH had to give his first injection so he’s now in nurse role with that one and I’ll do the subcutaneous one, which frankly is a breeze compared to the other! Funny what becomes normal 🙈 so we’ll see how that goes. 💉💉💉💪💪💪
Yesterday was also the anniversary of the death of my DB so a difficult day anyway and think the concept of the needles just tipped me over the edge!!

Anyway!! Clinic said they will be thawing the top 2 in the morning and they’ll only call if they have something they need to discuss so we hope we don’t hear from them!! 🙏🤞🙏🤞Work will be busy today so a good distraction!! 🙌🙌

@SpyroC so so pleased that your 2 fertilised and you had good news after the EC 🙏🙏 my fingers are crossed for you that they continue to grow and you get to a transfer on Sunday. Such a nerve wracking time. Are you able to distract yourself for the next few days too? Sorry to hear you have endo and low AMH too. It’s such a horrible disease. I didn’t know I had it until we started trying for a family. Currently have 3 endometriomas that are being ignored and will need to be dealt with at some point! Consultant thinks my low AMH was due to a surgery to remove 2 endometriomas a while ago and that damaged the ovaries (not performed by him). Frustrating to say the least!!
Stay strong over the next few days 💪💪 we’ve got this!!

@MGee123 good luck with your scan today!!! Hope the dominant follicle has quietened down for you and you’re able to start the gonal f later!! 🤞

@BonTon a last hurrah sounds delightful!!! 🙌🙌

Sending strength to all and sorry for the essay!!! 😂🙈😘😘😘

PineappleC · 05/11/2020 11:28

@ivfjourney5 thank you that's really good to know that someone else has been on metformin too! Have you found it okay? I'm on one per day this week but they told me to gradually increase to 3! I really hope your lining is good on your next scan too!🤞 It's so strange how it worked for me, but I literally responded poorly to all medication I've had. Hopefully natural will be better🤞

@bambionice80 yes hopefully! 🤞 I have to have my progesterone tested in a few days. Mine has been okay naturally in the past, and I think it's low they can just give me injections anyway! I hope the Progynova does the trick for you. I think it seems to for most ppl so wouldn't worry at this stage, I am just a difficult customer all round!

PineappleC · 05/11/2020 11:34

@spyroC really glad to hear that and really hope your next update from the clinic is just as positive! It must feel like a long wait and I'm praying you get good news! I did about 6 OPKs over the last 36 hours and it was really quick to fade too! Interesting!

@theglitterfairy yes I hope so! Ladt hurdle is getting the embryos moved to the new clinic but this should hopefully be done early next week so plenty of time! Crossing everything for you for tomorrow, it must seem like such a long wait...but exciting that it's almost here 😊

SpyroC · 05/11/2020 17:33

Thanks @MGee123 I'm glad she's finally arrived. How did your scan go today? I like gonal f- nice and easy compared to other injectables anyway. My naive ivf thought was that the injections were the worst bit.

Thanks @TheGlitterFairy I am working from gone until embryo transfer but Ive plenty to be getting on with. My fertility Dr did my endo surgery too. My ovary was stuck via a small endometrioma which was then aspirated but I don't think that's caused my infertility problems as ,although I didn't know my AMH then, my fsh was slightly elevated beforehand and I'd been ttc for well over a year by that point. My endo is mild so nobody really knows why it effects fertility. Wonderful! Have you had any updates today? Best of luck for tomorrow. Xx

Thanks @PineappleC I guess that's why some Drs refuse to rely on opks. Not the most accurate it seems.

MGee123 · 05/11/2020 20:12

@TheGlitterFairy I get back ache for 5-7 days or so before each period which I assume is progesterone related too. Not looking forward to the pessaries 🙈😂 hope you're okay this evening. 🤞 for not hearing anything from the clinic! So sorry to hear about your DB 😢

How are you getting your embryos moved @PineappleC ? Assume there are special companies or something are there? Hope the plans go well 👍

We've hurdled the first obstacle 🙌 scan went okay today. Rubbish number of follicles (4) but the big guy has calmed down so they're happy for me to start. I've done my first Gonal-F this evening which was fine - stung a tiny bit after but otherwise not much to report 🤷‍♀️ do people normally experience any side effects with the FSH jabs? Funnily enough I never thought to ask - seems a rather fundamental question! Trying to avoid google for everything fertility related 😬

granddesigns · 05/11/2020 20:48

Ladies I've just had a catch up on posts but am going to shuffle over to a December thread I think and/or lie low for a bit. IVF has broken me - literally! After an unsuccessful down regulation they said they would do a modified natural FET and accepted I don't down reg. This was decided at start of Oct with an instruction to call in 2-4 weeks when I bled. That happened 24 hours later so they said call again when next bleed starts.... that was due last week and still nothing. Had a scan this week and they are waiting till next week to either force a bleed or for me to bleed before then and start stimulating the lining without any down reg.... a bit fed up and sick of feeling like AF imminent. Have been doing this a year now but mostly waiting. Only 3.5 of those weeks did we have an embryo on board! Grrr!

TheGlitterFairy · 06/11/2020 08:17

@PineappleC great news you’re able to move forward on you next cycle! Exciting! Good luck with getting your embryos moved to your new clinic. A friend had to do that and all went very smoothly! Thanks for your good wishes for today too! 🙏

@SpyroC endo seems to be so mysterious to them. It’s a horrible disease. Sorry your ovary was stuck to an endometrioma - that sounds painful. The docs seem to believe that if you can get pregnant then this can help it going forward - so here we are for many reasons!!! Mine is stage 4 so quite bad though I’ve a high pain threshold and have always managed with the pain / queasiness etc when I have a period pretty well, in that I can carry on normally for the most part with a load of painkillers. I thought that the symptoms I have were normal and that everyone felt like that when they had their cycles but it seems not!!! They’ve recommended a hysterectomy at some point as it’s just a mess in there and the endometriomas just come back even when they’re removed, so can’t keep having surgery all the time. Sonographer said last week that everything outside the uterus was “a mess” but that inside looked good so let’s hope that’s something!!!

TheGlitterFairy · 06/11/2020 08:26

@SpyroC - we had no updates yesterday BUT having read through I think this thread and a few others about progesterone levels on transfer day, I emailed the consultant who will be doing the transfer too and asked him if I could have a blood test, so we can just double check all is as it should be. He agreed that was fine so we’ll go in a little earlier and have that too. In for a penny in for a pound!! Thanks for your wishes for today 🙏

@MGee123 thanks re DB. Good intel on the back pain too - I think half is from the muscle being bruised from the needle but it would make sense that it’s hormone related to given we’re pumping so much of it in there!! Which pessaries did they give you? Think if you can lie down for 15 mins afterwards that can help!
Great news about your scan yesterday and that your were able to start with the gonal f!! Hope the 4 carry on growing well for you!! I don’t think I had any side effects with gonal f other than it stinging a bit and a bit of redness at the site. When will your next appt be?
Thanks for your good wishes for the transfer / and lack of call this morning!!! 🙏

TheGlitterFairy · 06/11/2020 08:27

Will send an update to let you know how we get on! 🙏🙌☺️😘

BonTon · 06/11/2020 09:07

Good luck @TheGlitterFairy !

@MGee123, I felt pretty good during the stimulation phase to be honest - no side effects at all that I can think of. Hopefully the same is true for you. When are you next in for a scan?

Sorry to hear your story @granddesigns and good luck for December when your period finally shows xx

Birdladybird · 06/11/2020 10:03

Hello ladies, can i join in? Started my first round of IVF this month. I'm struggling a little with all the terminology and medication but i suppose the more i do it the more i'll know what to expect. We have 4 rounds funded, hopefully we won't need them!!

I'm currently on CD3, had a scan yesterday and started Bemfola injections last night. It was much better than i thought it would be, i was quite scared and had to work up the courage to inject myself!! I have another scan on monday as well as a blood test and appointment to see the anaesthetist.

Looking forward to sharing this journey with you all. I'm struggling with all the secrecy, nobody in my 'real life' knows about it.

BambiOnIce80 · 06/11/2020 10:38

Happy ET day @TheGlitterFairy!! 🤩🥳🤩🥳 So excited for you!! Sorry to hear the progesterone injections aren't pleasant though 💐 Glad that your clinic will be checking your level for you and you can at least see that the pain is worth it 🤞 I hope you've got some treat or other planned for after the transfer?

I actually gave out a little celebratory yelp when I read that both your eggs had fertilised @SpyroC! 😃 Definitely shows that quality is more important than quantity 😊

Congratulations on starting your meds @MGee123! 💉 I agree that gonal-f was probably the easiest one to do because of the pre-filled pen 🖋 I remember getting a lot of EWCM after a week or so of gonal-f, which freaked me out but was completely normal - just shows that it's doing its thing 👍

Ah, bugger @granddesigns - so sorry that AF is messing you about 😞 I hope she turns up soon or that the clinic can sort her absence out quickly 🍀

Sounds like things are still going nice and smoothly at your end @PineappleC 😎

Welcome @Birdladybird 👋 I get the need for secrecy - I'm not a lover of sharing this journey in real life. Ended up having to tell my boss so that I could work from home for the cycle, but that's it. My fresh cycle taught me that the more people you tell then the more people you have to keep updated... whether it be good or bad 🔮 If I am lucky enough to get a BFP again (which is a very big if 😏) then I honestly don't think I'd say anything to anyone unless we got past the 20 week scan without incident!

Not much to report at my end. Day 7 of progynova, so another 10 to go until scan day... which feels like forever away! I thought a FET would be easier because no regular injections and far less scans, but not knowing if everything is going as it should be is doing my nut in!! 🤯

OP posts:
BonTon · 06/11/2020 11:13

👋 @Birdladybird ... hope your cycle goes well. Most people know we are having IVF but not many know the timings, but completely get why you would want to keep it secret. It wasn’t much fun on the first round communicating a BFN.

I’m with you @BambiOnIce80... time is moving so slowly! I’m also quiet at work this week which isn’t helping to distract me at all... Day 7 of norethisterone here so I’m hoping my period will show next Friday 🤞🏻 Xx

ChicaXS · 06/11/2020 15:39

Afternoon ladies! Thanks again for the warm welcome and sorry for posting late. We just bought a house and it’s been a bitch to deal with because of lockdown!

@BambiOnIce80 how are you doing?! I feel excactly like you, pretty much notes, no symptoms, had some itchy nipples the other day haha, but I’m also on CD8 and have a scan on Tuesday (CD12) so I’m looking forward to seeing my lining. I’m not expecting it to thicken at all lol coz I have no symptoms. We should be getting EWCM but I have none. I feel like they may up my dose. Any tips to thicken lining besides water?!

@ivfjourney5 good luck this month, I always look out for your tips!

@SpyroC how are you today lovely? X

@PineappleC are you on progynova?

Wishing you all a very happy Friday with a virgin quarantini x
