November IVF/FET

... Too soon?! 😁😉

Been waiting on a FET since we were put on July's list and I've heard from our clinic this week that I've to call them when AF rocks up in October for a November FET. We had our fresh cycle in January, had a BFP, but found there was no heartbeat at the 11 week scan in March (MMC) - it's been a bit of a roller-coaster so far this year (as if covid craziness wasn't enough!).

Found having a thread to go through it all with a massive emotional support, so looking for some MN buddies to do it all again with. Good luck ladies and looking forward to 'meeting' you 🍀🙂

@Gardenlady543 I hope transfer goes well tomorrow despite everything that's happened so far 😔 how are you feeling now? Wow a masters is definitely a form of distraction, I admire you for doing that at the same time!

@unknownscot good luck for transfer tomorrow as well! 🤞🏼

@ChicaXS did you hear from the clinic about testing on Fri rather than Sat? My OTD will be 11DP5DT, so I think you will get a valid result on Fri as I think that is your 11DP5DT?

@BambiOnIce80 that sounds like a lovely day, did you find somewhere nice for lunch?

I've felt dreadful all day and lay on the sofa feeling sorry for myself. Finally built up the courage to get bath so I'm sat here relaxing, don't know if I'll find the energy to cook myself something half decent for tea or not though 😂 I finally start progesterone in the morning 🎉

Lepatz · 25/11/2020 17:55

Hey folks!

Haven't been on in while. Having the FET instead of fresh was so much less impactful - that combined with covering a second role at work meant I barely had time to worry about getting the lubion in the right place, never mind get online! On the plus side, it means I got to transfer in a fairly chill state of mind. And once I started the progesterone, the weird 'no running' buserelin side effect went away, so I was able to run up til the day of the transfer!

I had my FET transfer on Monday. One 5BB assisted hatching icsi emby tucked nicely in place. @BambiOnIce80 I had never heard of the expanding thing until lying in stirrups. My embryologist said it was 'expanding nicely' but I just assumed she meant it was still growing.

So now it's back in the fun world of the 2WW and analysing every twinge :). And worrying that I'm doing too much, even though it's just cooking and a nice walk every day! Continuing with Lubion, Cyclogest, Arovi, and Progynova for the foreseeable. But don't seem to be having anywhere near the side effects that I had in my fresh cycle. Anyone else had this with their FET??

Wishing everyone luck and peace, whatever stage of the journey you're at :)

ChicaXS · 25/11/2020 18:26

@BambiOnIce80 the interview went well thanks for asking. Of course it was over zoom so it felt weird dressing up for an interview in my living room! 🤪🤣. It’s with the same company I’m with (just my bosses position) and they’re used to me in sweats (or majority of the time I’m in pjs I just don’t turn my camera on!) life has changed these last 9 months ahaha!
@SpyroC @BambiOnIce80 thank you for your thoughts! Yes it was the worst time of my life, I had to give birth and it was devastating especially suffering from infertility. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. But much stronger now and in a better place! I really respect PGS and it has given me confidence with every transfer. I’m almost a certified pro on the subject after much studying on it for months on end so if it’s the back of your mind of course feel free to ask. Only warning it’s a bit time consuming AND expensive. I had 7 embryos and only 3 were viable but I don’t regret it as I rather be saved from heartache!

@ivfjourney5 I never called them today as my DH is being difficult and not letting me test until OTD which is Saturday (12DP5DT) he basically said call them on Friday to ask for advice about the medicine and place a tentative order but not test. I have been a right progesterone-psycho with him these last two weeks so I’ll let him have this one and just backed down. I’ll call them and ask for their advice as it’s their fault the clinic is shut on the OTD and I should have been advised about medication! Secretly I might test on Friday though 🤣😂 I’m literally going nuts.

@Gardenlady543 oh wow that does seem strange. The last thing I remember was moving my mask and the oxygen mask going on, that was me gone! I couldn't do it awake.

Good luck for your transfers tomorrow @Gardenlady543 @unknownscot

Thanks @BambiOnIce80 I have also become less strict about low GI (this was another feature of the egg quality diet) so I can now include rice and potatoes again. Whoop! 😂 I hope you enjoyed your walk.

Congratulations on being pupo! @Lepatz

Nearly there @ChicaXS stay strong! The second week is so tough.

BambiOnIce80 · 25/11/2020 19:42

Oh no! Sorry you're feeling so awful @ivfjourney5 💐 Has the blocked nose developed into a cold? A hot bath sounds like it could help soothe you and maybe the steam will help open up your sinuses 🤞 And welcome to the progesterone club tomorrow! 🩲😂🩲😂 We had a lovely walk, thanks 😊 Sunny, cool and the pavements mostly to ourselves because covid seems to have (mostly) done away with the tourists. Ended up at Byron burger in the end 🍔🍟😋 Not by any means healthy, but it hit the spot!

DP and I were having exactly the same conversation over lunch @Lepatz - I'm in so much better shape physically for the FET than the fresh cycle (because I've not been jabbed, sedated, bashed, bruised!). I just feel normal this time, which is kind of helping with (trying! 🙈) to put the TWW at the back of my mind. Congratulations on joining the pupo crew! 🥳 When is your OTD? I'd never heard of the re-expanding thing either until I was in stirrups and trying not to wet myself when the lovely nurse made me laugh! 💦😳

Oooh, fingers crossed for the job then @ChicaXS 🤞🤞🤞 When will you hear? I did lol at the pj's and turn the camera off! 📴 😂 I was very tempted during those 4 weeks I was working from home, but was never brave enough to do it 😏 I may well take you up on your kind offer about PGS advice, thank you 💖 If I ever get pregnant again and have another miscarriage, then I think it'll have to be the way forward.

I was thinking potato curry with brown rice @SpyroC! 🍛 Don't know if it's low GI (probably not 🙈), but it's flipping tasty and not too unhealthy. I'll have to work out how to share the link (it's on my Google drive, but I might be able to find the original link 🤔).

I had to Google PUPO as well @Gardenlady543 😂😂😂 glad it's not just me! Best of luck to you and @unknownscot for ETs tomorrow. It's good you get an update in the morning, I would have appreciated that 🤞

Sorry your feeling rubbish @ivfjourney5. Hope you can a restful evening? Bath sounds lovely ☺️ I've lost track of where you're at, so sorry. Is ET planned soon?

Congrats on your transfer @Lepatz ! When is OTD? You're on lots of different drugs - I feel bad for moaning about the pessaries! Hope you're feeling okay with it.

@ChicaXS Saturday isn't too far now - past hump day! I'm so sorry about your loss, it sounds very traumatic and I can totally understand the reassurance of PGS, despite the time lag and cost.

I'm intrigued by the egg quality diet @SpyroC ?! Any gems of info?! I'm sure I read something about high protein post transfer but have to say I'm a bit sceptical about how much influence anything above a normal healthy diet can have! Would love to hear more 👍

Glad you had a lovely walk @BambiOnIce80 . We have two dogs and I'm always grateful for them getting me out twice a day!

Sadly my relationship with the pessaries is deteriorating further 😂 without being too graphic, less seems to be being absorbed post ET!! I'm not overly worried but did email the clinic for reassurance. I wondered about not absorbing enough but assume they give you doses to compensate for that? I had some mild cramping yesterday evening and a little this afternoon which I think they said is normal post ET. Otherwise just getting on with life really. I am doing daily yoga in the absence of running - my mum will be pleased as she's sure that will fix the fertility issues 😂

Gardenlady543 · 25/11/2020 23:07

Just took the last of day 3 utrogestan pessaries and developed a widespread itchy rash, mostly on my arms. I never get rashes and nothing else has changed. Has anyone had this with progesterone before? It would happen the night before the date of ET!!

ivfjourney5 · 25/11/2020 23:08

I found a post on Facebook the other day that had a load of abbreviations on! Let me try and find in again and I'll copy and paste it here! There were a few I didn't know about

@ChicaXS haha loving your hashtag! Tentatively ordering the meds sounds like a good idea. I'm surprised the clinic only gave you enough for literally only a couple of days after OTD, especially when they are going to be shut over the weekend. It seems bad planning on their side. I've got enough for about 2 weeks after OTD!

Thanks for the well wishes @BambiOnIce80 and @MGee123. I still feel groggy but slightly better than before, hopefully I just need a good nights sleep. I'm just resting as much as possible as the last night I need is to be fighting a bad cold at the same time as having a transfer, I need to be a tip top condition for Tuesday!

@MGee123 do you lie down for 20 mins after to help it absorb? Sorry if this has already been mentioned 😂 Keep up the yoga it's sure to solve everything 🤣🤣

ivfjourney5 · 25/11/2020 23:09

*the last thing I need

ivfjourney5 · 25/11/2020 23:11

Oh @Gardenlady543 😩 do your clinic have an out of hours number you can ring?

Gardenlady543 · 25/11/2020 23:17

@ivfjourney5 I think they have some sort of out of hours service but it’s so late now and it won’t make any difference, since the pessary is already in. So I think I’ll just have to wait until tomorrow morning and speak to someone before I put the morning pessary in. It seems to be some kind of drug reaction. Weird that it’s started after three full days.

Good luck @unknownscot and @Gardenlady543 today! We will be thinking of you!

unknownscot · 26/11/2020 08:28

Thanks. Waiting patiently to hear if the embryo has thawed 🤞🏼

Gardenlady543 · 26/11/2020 08:29

Thanks everyone, unfortunately the rash is still there and I thought I’d try another pessary to see if it’s related and it does seem to have got worse. I’m now on tenterhooks waiting for the nurses to call me to discuss it. I can’t come up with an explanation, I thought maybe it could be a developing peanut allergy but I seem to have the peanut free formula. It doesn’t photograph very well but this is it, looks like hives, heavily in the elbow joint (eczema does this but I’ve never had eczema before), it’s itchy and also burns a bit.

BonTon · 26/11/2020 09:13

Very annoyingly my lining isn’t thick enough. 6mm on day 14, which is strange given on the last cycle it was 7.6mm on day 12 with the same medication. I’ve been prescribed patches and vitamin e tablets... why does something always have to go wrong?!

Good luck to those having transfers today xx

BonTon · 26/11/2020 09:13

And sorry about your rash @Gardenlady543. Hopefully it doesn’t interfere with transfer x

unknownscot · 26/11/2020 09:35

@Gardenlady543 Hope it doesn't interfere with anything today. Perhaps they will check your progesterone level to make sure absorbed okay too?

Good news - our little embryo thawed perfectly and all set for FET at midday 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Gardenlady543 · 26/11/2020 09:55

@unknownscot that’s good news! I’ve not heard back from the nurses Re: the skin rash, so I’m a bit worried that they’ll cancel the transfer.

The embryologist said she’s really pleased though, of my 12 fertilized eggs, I have 9 blasts, 2 are of the highest quality (1,1) and overall they’re looking to transfer 1 and ❄️ between 7-8, she said it’s quite rare to see such high quality blasts. So that’s very good, I put it down to being a lifelong vegan! Overall my chance of a live birth as long as the ET goes ahead today is 46%. But it’s unknown territory, I don’t know if implantation is the problem and this potential progesterone reaction isn’t good!!

Gardenlady543 · 26/11/2020 09:56

@BonTon is there still time for the lining to grow further? What day do they normal do the transfer on. Hopefully the patches and vitamins will help.

Gardenlady543 · 26/11/2020 10:42

The specialist called me and isn’t happy to go ahead, I am not convinced that this is specifically because of the progesterone, but she doesn’t want to risk it. I said the levels are stable and she can just switch me to another formula and she said it might specifically be the progesterone. She said she wants to freeze all, I’m not sure if Access even cover that. She doesn’t want to risk having a 1,1 grade embryo in if I then need to stop progesterone. I have begged her to put in one of the 3 X 1,2’s instead so I at least have a chance. She said I should come in at the expected time of transfer and discuss it then.

BonTon · 26/11/2020 10:54

@Gardenlady543 thanks, the nurse seems to think it’s relatively usual that the progynova tablets don’t do the trick and not to worry. I don’t think it necessarily matters which day the transfer is done in a medicated cycle as they can manipulate it by timing when the progesterone starts. Clearly not worrying is easier said that done but will try not to!

Sorry to hear about your transfer. I am with access and they covered a freeze all for me if that’s any help. Fingers crossed the consultant can be swayed xx
